“PATH TO DOOM” Chapter Two

Luthor and Superman must put aside their differences and face the common threat of Doomsday, as Jimmy Olsen and the Planet staff try to uncover the truth: who is the man claiming to be Clark Kent?

THEY SAID IT: “Superman is synonymous with the word ‘superhero’,” says artist Patrick Zircher. “He’s the greatest. Drawing ACTION COMICS fills me with a passion to make great comics.”

The best of Rebirth that I've read on an action level. Character developement was a little lacking where Superman was concerned, but Lois and Jon made up for it. I wonder how the Clark Kent character will progress...

As Superman and Lex Luthor argue over the legacy of the New 52 Superman, Doomsday drops into the middle of Metropolis! This Doomsday seems just as raging and relentless as before, but there seems to be a dark intelligence that Superman hasn’t seen. And the mystery of “Clark Kent” deepens!

I’m kind of breathless after reading this one! It’s very much an action issue from start to finish, but Jurgens manages to share scenes of Lois and Jonathan, as well as continue the mysterious appearance of yet another Clark Kent! As a parent, you completely understand and feel for what Lois is going through watching the TV coverage of her husband facing a creature who killed him before, but this time she has to do it with her son! The anguish she feels is apparent and it pulls at your heartstrings as she tries to console Jon. Great character moments here!

Similarly, Jurgens keeps the mystery going with Jimmy Olsen challenging the new Clark while they run between the raging battle with Doomsday. Here Jurgens cleverly weaves in some exposition explaining some of the plot points from the New 52 books, while moving the mystery forward by having this new character not understand or remember what Jimmy is relating. I admit to being pretty intrigued by this plotline.

So far this series is a freight train just barrelling forward at 100 miles per hour! I had lost a lot of interest in Superman during the New 52 run, but Jurgens’s approach is kind of reinvigorating me on the character and these series, and Patrick Zircher’s artwork only adds to the enjoyment!

I am not writing a review for this title I am writing a review got what Amazon has done to comixology

Just like every money hungry corporation who cares nothing about their customers Amazon has done it again. I used to have a subscription to this service but moved to marvel because I read their books more. now trying to go back to Comixology I’ve discovered they have made it so difficult to find a title it’s completely useless. It has taken me 20 minutes to just find a way to write a review let alone the hous it took me to find a title I could read. Amazon needs to cancel this service and give up, and let comicxology stand on its own and let real fans enjoy the books they want to read. The only way I can find anything to read is to open the Amazon app search for hours to find a title I want then save it to my Kindle library and re-open it there. This app is completely useless and I highly recommend anyone that reads comics never waste a dime on it. shame on you Amazon you are a worthless load of crap and I’m glad I never use you and your corporate fuck the consumer attitude

Favorite comment I read regarding this issue: Doomsday would be an awesome reveal...if he wasn't already on the cover. Agree, anonymous internet poster.

There's not much here that can't be summarized in one page, the plot hardly moved forward. But I was surprised, once again we don't have drawn out dialogue, or cheesy dialogue that I'm used to from the writer. Oh no wait..
"This is a job for Superman!" Well, I'll forgive it this time, especially with who's he's saying it to.
Obviously history isn't going to repeat itself with Superman's meeting with Doomsday, especially after this Rebirth shannanigans we're dealing with, but every punch Doomsday throws makes me wince and cringe. (Internally, not really). But I'm slightly worried, how is he gonna get out of this one? And who the hell is that guy with the glasses? What is Lois gonna do?? She can't fly, to get to the scene!
Overall what DC seems be doing is giving us, the Pre-New 52 fans what we want and they're succeeding with me. I think it's interesting.. Excuse me, I think it's fucking awesome that Superman now has to take on this reality's Doomsday. Aside from that, Lex Luthor is also not the same Lex he knows, and .. Am I right?? Not one line of exposition?!
A fun read.

Actual rating: 3.5 stars.

The suspense from the previous issue lasts through this issue, and that's the best part about it. I also like the intrigue around plus the fact that while , and that lends some comedic relief.

The only (really minor) gripe I have is with Is that a throwback to this , or is it a that I have never seen before? Either way, minor point.

The story progresses slowly, and that is a good thing. When stories run too fast in comics, chances are the ending is either really really good or super disappointing, and often it's the latter. I'm curious to see how the plot develops here.

i will give it a 3.5/5 really , it was action packed and they made Doomsday more powerful* and this mystery of Superman and Clark kent being two separate people is killing me ,that said i am still not convinced with the art and i remember them saying they will bring the old DC back , this here seemed to me like they were pursuing with their stupid "lex is a good guy" act . Lex Luthor is a bad guy and he is really really good at it ,or atleast was . So please listen to the fans DC Make Lex Bad again!

* yeah i know right

Action Comics #958 picked off where the last issue left us, with Containment Doomsday wrecking havoc on Metropolis. Here, we see that Superman is forced to work with SuperLex as they try to save the citizens of Metropolis and beat Doomsday. But are these two enough to beat Doomsday, who seems to have more intelligence in addition to his brute strength? Who is Clark Kent? What is Jon going to do? What is Lois going to do? Who IS the mystery man behind it all? Find out in the next issue of Action Comics!

action packed issue that finally drives the dark knight into action. Not everything is worthy of this issue, Doomsday being used yet again. I'm a littled odded out with Luthor as the hero but I've obviously in catchup mode with 52 series. I liked the issue but I didn't think it was the mind blowing event superman needs in this rebirth series. Great art and some fast paced action.

Pre-flashpoint Superman is battling doomsday with the help of Lex Luthor. Also, Jimmy Olsen, Lex Luthor, Lois & Jonathan are trying to wrap their heads around who is this Clark Kent? Jonathan wants to help his dad defeat Doomsday.

Who is the guy in the hood? What is he waiting for to fall into place? What is he waiting for Kal-El to do?

Superman is facing off against Doomsday! Lex is helping where he can, and this “Clark Kent” on the ground isn’t any help. Jon takes off to see the scene, and Luther is about to get destroyed by doomsday as the issue ends
