Blind since birth, Corrie Madison relies on her other sharpened senses in her job as a chiropractor. Never did she imagine she’d have to depend on them to identify a killer. But when a man enters her practice, murdering everyone in his path, Corrie is the only witness—putting her directly in the killer’s crosshairs.
Officer Quint Axton wasn’t looking for love, or even a relationship, until he meets Corrie. Beautiful and brave, resilient and intelligent, she’s everything Quint wants—if he can keep her alive long enough to explore their mutual attraction. The threats on Corrie’s life are escalating. Surely a blind person is helpless against a ruthless killer?
Hardly. Corrie is about to prove that disabled does not equal defenseless.
**Justice for Corrie is the 3rd book in the Badge of Honor: Texas Heroes Series. Each book is a stand-alone, with no cliffhanger endings.
New York Times, USA Today, and Wall Street Journal Bestselling Author, Susan Stoker has a heart as big as the state of Tennessee where she lives, but this all American girl has also spent the last fourteen years living in Missouri, California, Colorado, Indiana, and Tennessee. She's married to a retired Army man who now gets to follow her around the country.
I love everything that Susan Stoker writes and Justice for Corrie is no exception. This is the third book in the Badge of Honor: Texas Heroes series and like the others in the series can be read as a stand alone.
Quint is a cop with the San Antonio Police Department. Corrie is a chiropractor who happens to be blind. Corrie is a witness albeit through sound and smell to a crime in the office where she works. A few days after the incident Corrie is in a restaurant waiting to have lunch with her attorney so that he can let her know a little about what is going on with the case. This is where she happens to meet Quint. Through a series of different events Corrie and Quint begin to get to know one another and then begin to date. He is also trying to keep her safe from the man who committed the crime she witnessed.
I love this book so much. Corrie and Quint are terrific together. Their relationship was a slow build to trust and then to a physical relationship. I enjoyed them getting to know one another. This is a quick read but a completely enjoyable one. Susan's characters are always interesting and to counteract the drama there is always plenty of humor along the way. Anyone who has read any of Susan's work will want to add this book to their collection as it is another classic. If you have not read Susan's work previously then this book is wonderful place to start because the story is interesting, the main characters are highly developed and it is an entertaining read.
Make sure you One-click Justice for Corrie. You will not be disappointed. If you have not read the other books in the series and are able to do so you should check those out too because they are also great reads.
Justice for Corrie was a satisfying read. It gives us a women who is blind, but has witnessed a murder.
Color me intrigued just from the blurb and this idea of a blind character. I’ve showcased Ms. Stoker on my blog and each time I tell myself I’m going to try one of her books. For those that know me CR is not my genre of choice, but I do like to give them a try now and then.
Justice for Corrie was one I really wanted to try; because of our heroine Corrie who has been blind since birth. I wanted to see how the author portrayed her and her disability. It’s not easy to write about a character with a disability, but I have to say Ms. Stoker did a stunning job with this aspect of the story. This different angle gave me insight into how other people live. You get to see Corrie’s daily life, her insecurities, her frustrations, and what she has done to adapt and become a strong independent women.
Quinn was a likable character. He’s a police officer, he's alpha, strong, and protective. I enjoyed his relationship with Corrie. I liked how he interacted with her. He was genuinely interesting in her and sees her blindness as part of her rather then something negative.
I had a delightful time reading Justice for Corrie. The unique romance, suspense, action and emotions all added up to an enjoyable read.
Note: Can be read as a stand alone. Books in this series do not have to be read in order.

Another great read from this author. I loved Corrie and how strong and independent she was, even though she was blind. It was great to get to see several characters from her other books as well. Lots of alpha male, which I love as well!!! Can't wait for the next one!
*currently doing an audio reread on my drive to and from work. I love this author and this story but I'm struggling with the narrator. She is putting me to sleep.
Susan Stoker is an autobuy for me! I loved the seal series and the Badge of Honor series is proving to be a favorite as well. Susan writes a wonderful interesting story that includes that hot alpha who is protective and loving. It's never drama with om/ow, its always that hot guy sweeping in and saving his girl. There isn't a lot of steam compared to some stories but boy is it romance. I've already pre ordered the next two available books!
Ever since I was a little girl and was intrigued with the story of Helen Keller, I wondered how people survived and thrived when they were blind. Life is hard, incredibly so, when you have all of your senses available to you. What happens when you don’t? What Susan Stoker has done here has blown away every myth that may have remained, and showed me exactly how a person who is blind is simply a regular person who just happens to not see…
Corrie Madison is a chiropractor. She is also blind. Using the skills she’s had to hone all her life to keep herself safe, she is going to need every single one of them to survive a killer’s wrath.
Quint Axton is a police officer on the case but he’s also soon more than that as he recognizes the unique qualities that make Corrie not just another beautiful face….
“I was impressed. I’m even more impressed now. You don’t take c**p from me, you’ll protect your friends with everything you have, and you have a slight sarcastic streak. You’re beautiful…”
I love this author and this story is just another example of why. Corrie is blind but sees more clearly than others as she uses her hearing, her senses of touch and smell, to help her navigate the world around her. By simply living, and going about her business, Corrie’s life is shown to be as simple and complicated as anyone’s. And complicated it is, as she deals with the aftermath of a tragedy that struck too close to home.
I love how Quint interacts with Corrie—going out of his way to be aware of Corrie’s needs. He is genuinely interested in her and sees her blindness as an extension of her rather than something that is a negative. He is curious and doesn’t have all the answers but he talks to her about it all. There are disagreements and misunderstandings but they never stop working it out.
Action and suspense are exciting backdrops to a funny, emotional and unique romance. Another story hit out of the ballpark, I can’t wait for more Texas heroes! ~ Diane, 5 stars
Always nice to have characters in romance books that aren’t perfect! And especially ones where one of them deals with a disability. In one of the author’s other books I learned quite a bit about deafness and especially how hearing aids can sound to the person using them - something I had never given much thought to, but learned it wasn’t quite as easy as putting it in your ear and you hear! In this one, the female character is blind, having been born without eyes. It was very interesting learning how someone who is blind lives, works, cooks and gets around independently. Not to mention the scene where she takes out her prosthetic eyes and cleans them and her eye sockets!
As usual with this author, really enjoyed both the romance and suspense plots!
Corrie was a cool heroine (blind since birth, yet very capable and no shrinking violet). And Quint protected her and looked out for her without diminishing her because of her handicap. I loved the scene where she had to deal with her prosthetic eyes--he was just like a little boy discovering something cool. That made him a keeper for me.
1.5 stars Man, I wanted this one to be better. I always am a sucker for the „Blind woman witnessed a crime“ trope, because there is SO MUCH potential for a good suspense. Well.
Unfortunately I found the romance parts as well as the „suspense“ part to be rather bland and boring. In combination with a writing style that would have needed a lot more editing in my opinion and the logic faults plus a first meeting I wanted to roll my eyes so hard at, I wasn‘t too impressed.
My bad mood reached its peak, when Corrie gets kidnapped by a murderer and rapists and the hero drives with a colleague, I think, to her. The woman reminds him, that he has to get his shit together and that Corrie possibly was raped and would need tender care.
Part of his answer literally made me GAG: „So you telling me that asshole might have stuck his cock inside what’s mine is not helping.“
Like are you fucking shitting me? His woman was possibly raped and THAT are his disgusting thoughts on the matter. What the everloving hell?
I could ignore a lot of the other nonsense in here, because you know, I don‘t have really high standards and once I realized this would be an unexited, fluff read, I went with the flow. But that sentence as a thought process was so wrong, it knocked the rating a whole star. Btw it totally felt out of character, the way he is characterized before.
On the plus side. The heroine was not a damsel in distress, she was independent albeit a bit prickly. No Ow drama, no drama at all. A little bit diversity with lesbian friends. Mostly! Decent hero.

When police officer Quint Axton literally runs into chiropractor Corrie Madison, he has no idea the meeting will put him in the middle of a dangerous situation, since Corrie is the only witness to a workplace shooting. Corrie has no idea that she's bumped into her future love, and the one man who is willing to do anything to make her happy and to accommodate her blindness.
I can't judge the book based on how well it portrays people who are blind or visually impaired, but from an outside perspective, it seems to do it well. Corrie is fiercely independent, despite her "handicap," even to the point of Quint is an all around nice guy, and I'm glad he's getting his own book and finding his own true love. They're a great couple, and this is a great book.
I was impressed with Corrie as a self sufficient blind character. The regular routines and practical daily applications Stoker used showed thoughtful research in creating the character and gave a believable feel to the story. Top things off with a bit of suspense and romance and you’ll find a good read with this book!
Susan Stoker has done a fantastic job with this story, Corrie being blind must have made writing it a lot harder having to think more about descriptions and details. Research and help with this would have been very important, not just to get it right for herself and the character but so it was very clear for us the readers. I found it very informative on how a blind person can cope and be self sufficient, only needing help in a few areas, but also how the world is changing and more people with handicaps can be able to work in general job areas. It is a much more open minded society these days and I can quite see them being more than capable of doing this type of job, since to some degree it is more about feel than seeing. Quint is a very loveable, easy to like character. I loved how he put himself out to not only help and make Corrie feel comfortable but wanted to learn everything he could to understand and make it a bit easier where he could for her. The story plot is intense and suspenseful, a bit scary putting yourself in her shoes and what she goes through. I love how all the friends pull together in crisis in an instant as soon as the call goes out. Emily and Bethany along with Ethan are supportive and really great friends for Corrie to have. All in all I really loved this story, it opened my eyes to things I wouldn't have even thought about before in terms of seeing and helped me understand just how hard it can be for those who cant. It is also refreshing for an author to pick a handicap like this and have it be a main character, so often it is more hearing or limb loss that is used so well done Susan for highlighting one of the harder subject matters.
I really loved Corrie. I love a character who has a disability because it adds a depth to them. Overall, another great book for Susan Stoker! My full review will be on The Book Disciple
Corrie came across as a **** to me straight out the gate. I understand trying to do everything for yourself but should we let you slip or fall? And instead of a thank you we get a #"*;.
Justice for Corrie is my favourite book in this series so far! I loved that the heroine was blind from birth and it was fiercely real, not something that could be fixed and the Author wrote this into the story beautifully. Describing even the day to day tasks in detail so you could really understand how simple tasks are more complicated for Corrie and how important good communication is for her.
Quint Axton is the Hero her a Texas PD officer he is called becomes involved in a case where Corrie is the sole survivor/witness of several murders at her workplace. Quint is an all round good guy, protective and possessive of Corrie but doesn't smother her. I loved that he was willing to learn from her and saw her disability as a positive and a part of her. I found the way he doted on her really empowering and because of Corrie's inability to see their intimate relationship was written in a deeper way, the senses were used differently and I really liked this take on things, the sensuality really came across.
Of course there is always the suspense edge to these stories and Corrie becomes the target of the guys out to finish what the started. Corrie is one incredible woman and even faced with a foe she cannot see in unfamiliar surroundings she still manages to kick ass and do everything she can to save herself. This book really stood out for me and I hope more people read Corrie's story, I can tell that the Author put a lot of work into making Corrie authentic and for me it was a success.
Plot: Corrie works as a chiropractor until one day when a gunman comes into the office and shoots everyone except Corrie, who is lucky enough to find a good hiding spot. She can't identify the shooter though because she is blind. In the course of talking with the police and a lawyer, she meets Quint, a detective who is instantly taken with Corrie. He is determined to keep her safe until the killer can be found. But someone really wants her dead so that will be harder than it first seemed.
Commentary: Quint loves Corrie's self-assurance, her independence, and her resiliency. She does have a little chip on her shoulder about the way people have treated her in the past (and that's fair enough) but Quint really is the exception to the rule. He respects her and her abilities and goes so far as to learn Braille. In fact, it's the braille that plays a significant role in saving her toward the end of the book. This was a bit of a diversion from the normal Susan Stoker book (not entirely - same format of woman getting in trouble and military/law enforcement man saving her) in that there's not a focus on her looks and her being plain and boring. Corrie can't see herself so she has no idea what she looks like (and it wouldn't matter - she was born blind so she has no frame of reference for a comparison to other women). That was a nice change.
Justice for Corrie is a kick ass, bad ass book just like she is. I can't even begin to describe how amazing this book is. Quint and Corrie are the most well rounded couple I've read in a long time. I could not put this book down. It is the quintessential Susan Stoker book. Bad ass alpha men with hearts of gold and the strong independent kick ass women they love. This book will hold your interest and enthrall you to the very end. I appreciated the depth of character given to Corrie so she is well rounded and deals with things head on. The research involved with writing a character of her depth astounds me. And Quint what a perfect alpha male ....to die for...watching him learn how to adjust to a blind girlfriend floored me. As always you have to read this book because the HEA ending is all you could wish for.
I couldn't get beyond the blind woman in a diner 'bumping into' a waiter even though she was being guided by someone and then telling someone she has never met before, who SAYS he is a cop, that she witnessed a murder and is in danger. And why the hell meet your lawyer somewhere public like that??
The writing was clunky, with major major info-dumps about her childhood and university and her blindness etc and the word 'adjusting' seeming to crop up every time her job was mentioned. Could the author not have found other words to describe what a chiropractor did? Manipulation? Treatment? She was doing Mr Treadaway's 'adjustment' - and I kept imagining a bloke adjusting his tackle. You know what I mean ;)
What an amazing book! I was hooked from page one. Corrie was born blind and survived a mass shooting at her work. Loved how she and Quint met, it’s so cute. He’s so protective immediately. Can he keep her safe? Loved getting to know how she deals with being blind and how he’s so good with her and understands she needs to know where items are. I was connected with the characters. I highly recommend this book.
Corrie is a very strong, independent woman despite her disability yet when she witnesses a murder, she needs some help. Quint meets Corrie in a restaurant and when he finds out that she is in trouble, he cannot sit back and do nothing. Their attraction develops as the danger gets closer. I love that the couples and friends from previous books put in an appearance again. The camaraderie in this series is awesome.
Corrie is an interesting character in that she’s an independent woman with a career and has been blind since birth. When she witnesses a shooting, she becomes the next target. Enter Quint, who is entranced by Corrie. When reading this book and it was in Corrie’s point of view, it was interesting to notice that I felt blind, as the descriptions were based on other senses or what other characters told her they saw. When it switched to Quint’s POV, I could see again, so that was well done. As a tangent, it made me wonder how a person who has been blind their entire lives experiences other’s descriptions of colors and appearance. How do you describe a color to someone who’s never seen? What would it mean to them? Anyway, I liked the book but some other parts felt awkward, like some relationship dynamics. I read the ebook. 3/5
Story starts slow, but hang in there very good plot and characters about a blind young woman Who is a professional chiropractor (who would imagine that, although I am paralyzed on the right side and have done gas station work plus filling up propane bottles one handed. So anything is possible). And while she's at work a gunman walks in and starts shooting. She hides and there the story begins..I loved this story.....this is just the bare basics I don't want to give the story away.
An amazingly strong heroine. Susan Stoker writes about real women - not perfect ones. Her stories have depth and the characters are relatable. I enjoy all of her books for this reason. A definite must read for those looking for a story about the women of today, who face challenges head on.
This is my fave of the series so far. I really enjoyed Corrie and learning about how she does things to help her. Really liked her job and loved that she saved herself.
I liked Quint in that he was a good guy but for me this story was all about Corrie.
