What critics are saying about Barbara Valentin's books:

"A lighthearted and endearing blend of comedy, drama, and romance. Quick-moving and thoroughly delightful."
—Publishers Weekly, Starred Review
"False Start was such a wonderful romantic comedy and even though there isn't an ounce of steam in it. I completely loved it! 5 stars!"
—Boundless Book Reviews

"I had a hard time putting (Help Wanted) down. That’s probably why I had no trouble reading it in two days! I’ll also stubbornly admit that I got a little teary-eyed towards the end, and I absolutely loved the ending. It was the perfect finish and one of my favorite endings, hands down."

Aubrey is terribly afraid of heights. I can relate, considering my own horrific fear of anything over two stories. Yet for Aubrey, dealing with her fears, or, not dealing with them, is placing a huge burden on her work life. It’s hard for a travel writer to talk about adventures unless they’ve actually lived them, and when one of her assignments is to skydive, she’s nearly ready to throw in the towel and give up. That is, until she meets John Trelawney.

John has guaranteed her that he can cure her of her fears, but he has no clue as to what he’s really getting himself into. Aubrey’s fears stem from deep-rooted issues, ones that a simple shove out of a plane won’t fix. John has to really get inside Aubrey’s head, a difficult task, considering how much she keeps hidden away from him, from others, and how closely guarded she is to the truth. John has his own secrets to contend with. It’s harder and harder to try and maintain a certain persona, especially when he discovers there might be more to Aubrey than what meets the eye.

The "Assignment: Romance" series has always been one of my favorites, which is why I couldn’t wait to read Flight Risk. As always, Valentin puts her own unique spin on relationships, whether it’s between romantic interests, or friendships. While reading about Aubrey and John’s struggles, you also discover what’s going on beneath the surface, especially with the other characters from this series, like Mattie Ross, from False Start, and Claire Nelson, from Help Wanted. They’re all intertwined beautifully, making this such a wonderful, smooth read, from start to finish.

Flight Risk an Assignment Romance Novel by Barbara Valentin

Loved, loved, loved this lighthearted romance novel, what fun! All the feels! Great story and fantastic characters, I smiled my way through the entire book.

You will love Aubrey a travel writer for the Chicago Gazette and all her quirky friends. Aubreys husband had died while on their honeymoon bungy jumping. Since then she developed a fear of falling. In order for Aubrey to keep her job she needed to overcome her fear, and fast. And so, the story begins. Aubrey meets a window washer named John who wants to help her overcome her fear. John is charismatic character that all dreams are made of. Swoon ♡ Love him!
The end brings a lovely surprise for Aubrey! Lucky girl!!!! A delightful read that will leave you smiling and swooning.

I give Flight Risk 5 stars for it's sweet, funny, romantic read.
I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys romance, comedy and fun.

I have been a fan of Barbara Valentin’s work since I read The Plate Spinner Chronicles. Her honesty and wit spoke volumes, leaving me intrigued as to what her works of fiction would be like. Enter Flight Risk! Poor Aubrey finds her life in shambles after a whirlwind romance leads to a hasty marriage, which ends abruptly on her honeymoon when she loses her husband in a freak bungee jumping accident. The resulting turmoil leads to professional, financial and personal crises the likes of which would put any of us into a panic. Nearly at the end of her proverbial rope, Aubrey meets John, a window washer who convinces her he can cure her fear of falling (from great heights!), thereby helping her keep her job as a travel writer. With a delightful cast of characters to keep us company, we are taken on quite an adventure as Aubrey and John fall for each other. The path to love is never easy, but as Valentin shows us, it is always worth the risk.

FLIGHT RISK is a cute romantic comedy. You can't help but cheer for the main characters to get together--much like their diverse group of friends and family who are just as eager to see them find true love. It took a chapter or two before I really got into the story, but that may be because I haven't read the earlier books in this series and wasn't already familiar with the characters. Those looking for a clean, lighthearted romance will likely enjoy this one.

Flight Risk

What one chance meeting can do to the rest of a person's life! This was a very cute cozy romantic comedy, and a very quick read because I couldn't put it down. The characters were well developed and I had no problem falling in love with both Aubrey and John, and also Aubrey's Nana! I hope there is a sequel to this book!
