With a marvelous blend of humor, wisdom and candor, Becky Hunter has written a book that masterfully expresses God's heart on marriage. Being Good to Your Husband on Purpose should be read by every Christian woman who wants her marriage to be the best it can be. This isn't a crash course on "how to fix your husband," but rather a practical guide for building a healthy, thriving marriage that will last. Becky courageously exposes many of the popular but flawed notions that lead to marital stagnation, and she unfolds a strategy to radically transform a marriage from a miserable battleground into a powerful partnership. The principles in this book are solidly biblical, and they work!
This book was written by my pastor's wife, and it is excellent. I feel like God brought it to my attention just when I needed it (He has a tendency to do that). I love how she gives the 10,000-feet-up perspective and also on-the-ground practical applications. Reading the book felt like sitting down with a very wise woman and having a great conversation over coffee. I am very grateful Mrs. Hunter put all of her insights into book form! Chock-full of wisdom, this one. (Plus, your husband will love seeing this book lying around!)
Good encouragement for the wife who needs help focusing on the positive instead of being consumed in the negative. I read this book along with The Power of a Praying Wife by Stormie O'Martian and Bold Love by Dr. Dan Allender. This trio, I thought hit each of the ways I want to minister as a wife, through encouraging, praying and speaking the truth in love. Marriage is for life and by the grace of God and the inspiration of these good books, I hope to do my part to keep it going strong.
I enjoyed this book! Every time I read more in it I took something away that I could put into practice in my marriage. The title, Being Good To Your Husband On Purpose, is even an encouragement to do well in my marriage.
