Book two in the stand alone series. Intended for the mature reader.
SIX
Men By Numbers Series

I grew up in the foster system and bounced around from place to place. I know what you’re thinking. Bad things happened to me and fucked me up? Don’t feel bad for me. I didn’t know a privileged life, therefore I didn’t miss one. I was what I was and I made it work. I actually had a few good homes in my lifetime, met some good people, but that’s not what my story’s about. It’s not a Romeo and Juliet saga either, even if our stories do revolve around a similar basis. I knew a real love, a rare love, a love between two people that were never supposed to fall in love. Rival gang members are never allowed to fall in love and it cost us everything. The things I learned growing up the way I did is this: Love is deadly and often not real. People come and go and only the rare few stick around when shit gets tough. I learned the hard way what lurks behind false smiles, and that deceitful truths get whispered in sexual moans. I was taught that dark souls are not born but created, and you can avoid them, hide from them or learn and become them.
Revenge sculpted and molded me into the darkest of souls, and with my wrath comes agony and torment more severe than hell itself. I took out six of the men who hurt my woman and I will be coming for the rest. Get in my way and I’ll come for you too.

The second book in the 'Men by Numbers' series, 'Six' had many of the characteristics of a terrific, dark story. There was plenty of danger and Ker Dukey certainly doesn't shy away from graphic, disturbing content like many authors do. I applaud her for that. If you're going to write a dark story, I think you need to take that dive and not toe the line.

This is the story of Taylor Jake, aka "Six". As a teenager, Six was bounced between foster homes before eventually ending up on the streets. His only family consisted of the gang he belonged to and Hayley, another kid on the streets that Six took under his wing.

Hayley was the "good" in Six's life. They lived together and had a non-exclusive sexual relationship. However, more than anything, they were the closest of friends.

When Six falls in love with the member of a rival gang, it is Hayley that ends up paying the price for Six's actions. She is brutally gang-raped and tortured. No longer is she the bright-eyed girl that Six strived to shelter. Her life is forever changed.

Six makes it his mission to seek vengeance for Hayley. Out of prison after killing some of the men involved in Hayley's attack, he has set up a life for himself in a new town. He owns a bar and tattoo shop, biding his time until he can finish what he started.

When Misty first sets foot inside of Six's bar, he wants to have sex with her as much as he wants to rescue her. She is clearly down on her luck and in need of some help. He gives her a job and the sexual tension is thick between the two.

Despite Six's initial resistance, the two eventually end up getting romantically involved. Things only get more complicated when Hayley makes a reappearance in Six's life, with a suspicious new friend in-tow. Shortly thereafter, things hit the fan.

There were many things that I really loved about this book. I love the fact that the author is not afraid to tell a dark story and embrace the shocking elements that many others dance around. I also thought that the story itself was entertaining and emotional. I enjoyed the story and felt connected to the characters.

The reason that this story got a 3-star rating, instead of a 4-star rating, is because there were some pretty big editing oversights. Maybe I'm being snobby, but I kind of feel like the author should know how they want to spell the names of their main characters and then stick to it. One of the major players in this book had two different spellings of their name. On one page it was spelled "Jordon", only to be spelled "Jordan" further in. It was distracting and I found myself flipping back to be sure that this wasn't a different "Jordon/Jordan" and to double-check the spelling. I'm OCD that way.

Another thing that irked me was that there were several instances of incorrect word usage. It wasn't the worst I've encountered, but it was noticeable and distracting. The example that stands out with me is the usage of the word "mount" when the author clearly was referring to a woman's "mound". I don't even want to think of what must be going on in her undies if her mound can be quantified as a "mount", but I'd get a plastic surgeon on that problem. Not sexy!

Lastly, M/M isn't really my thing. I don't absolutely hate it and I did enjoy this story. However, Six flipping back and forth between male and female partners didn't really appeal to me. This is just a reflection of my personal preferences, so this may not be an issue at all for others.

Overall, I give this one 3 stars. If the editing oversights were corrected, it'd be a 4-star read for me. If you can overlook those types of mistakes, I'd say that this is a great choice if you're looking for a dark read. If not, it might drive you crazy.

Genre: Erotic Thriller
Type: Standalone Book 2 from Men By Numbers series
POV: First Person - Dual
Rating:

Taylor Jake didn't have a childhood worth remembering. He moved from one foster home to another, never felt like he belonged until he joined a gang during his teen and found love. But that love took everything he got and he avenged it by killing six of the people involved which landed him a 15 years prison sentence. Now a free man, he became Six and vowed to finish his revenge.

Misty was desperate when she walked into Six's bar. He gave her the job she needed but didn't want anything to do with her. Deep down, attraction burn from both sides but as he already learned, love could be a dangerous game they can't afford to lose.

Six touched my heart in book 1 with his past and I have been looking forward to his story. I am so glad this book met my expectations.

I was hollow, lost to what it felt like not to be lonely, and I was okay with that

I love tortured hero and Six's history was violent and sad. Guilt followed him around even years after and it scared him from opening up his heart because once he cared, he did so deeply and it could potentially hurt as much.

She’s too delicate for me. She’s like a flower and I’m a weed growing strong around her. I’d strangle her and then everything that makes her bloom will be gone.

Misty was not afraid to take chances. She didn't let Six's abrasive nature scared her away and she stood by her believes.

I found the pace to be a little slow in the first 70%. There were a lot of hot scenes to make it up though lol!

Life has a way of always dragging you back to the past and keeping you hostage there.

But once it hit that mark, things started to happen and that's when the story got really engaging. And I have to say, the person who is going to be in the next book already caught my attention :D

Six is a story of a man on a personal vendetta while battling the demons from his past. This sexy, thrilling story is worth spending your time with.

SIX: Spoken in 'Dual Perspectives' Six & Misty

PAST: Straight away your dragged into the nitty gritty storyline as soon as you read the 'Prologue' and you're introduced to 'Taylor Jake aka SIX' who was meeting Jordan who was a no show. Arriving back at Hayley's apartment where he'd promised to spend that night he was greeted with the unexpected.
He'd met Hayley when she was fifteen, and now at eighteen her fate had been sealed due to loving a man who loved another.

Make them pay for what they did to me
I want you to destroy them
take them apart
and leave them broken
bleeding, and dying
I need them to pay
I need you to make them suffer like I have.

This moves from past to present effortlessly and flawlessly which gives you a broader insight into what makes SIX tick and what moulded him into the man he is now.

To say he's had a checkered past is an understatement, from foster home to foster home, from gang life, to prison life to trying to live the straight and narrow life, a man with many layers.

After his stint in prison he tries to live his life on the straight and narrow but shit always sticks and finds it's way back into his life again, will he be seeing the four walls of a prison cell again??

Image and video hosting by TinyPic He has chaos inside him
and nightmares plague him
haunting is waking hours.

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

As soon as Misty walked into his bar looking like a drowned rat he knew he was a goner. He wanted her but knew deep down that he wasn't good enough for her, but a man like SIX takes what he wants and suffers the consequences. She was the perfect mix for him..

You reach about the 70% mark and shit starts to get real!!
Betrayal
Vengeance
Atonement

Image and video hosting by TinyPic Just when I finally thought I had a chance
at redemption, old demons came knocking
and obliterated my world once more.

GAH where to start with the feels, so many feels zapped me in the arse big time when reading this, the rawness of it, the emotional rollercoaster as I breathed all that was SIX, the hand he was dealt at such a young age shredded my heart to pieces, his need for vengeance, what that put him through GAH!! Loved this book so much, this author is so freaking talented..

Image and video hosting by TinyPic Shit can be ripped away from you in a heartbeat
and misery and pain are part of life, but that's not all it is
Love can crash into you and knock the wind from your lungs
and that's what she did to me.

Taylor Jake grew up in a variety of foster homes that enabled him to create a protective wall around his emotions. Upon meeting Haley as a teen, she became his family and part of his heart; however, Taylor’s weakness was preyed upon by a rival gang and Haley paid the price of evil. Vowing to avenge Haley’s pain, Taylor became Six, a killer succumbed by rage, guilt and inner turmoil.

“I was hollow, lost to what it felt like not to be lonely, and I was okay with that.”

Fast forward fifteen years, Taylor “aka Six” is released from prison for his crimes but seeking revenge for the remaining gang members still lingers in his soul, as a day doesn’t pass where he can forget that horrific night and the ensuing pain. Now a respectable bar owner, Six chooses to keep few close to him until a certain woman enters his bar that tests his restraint.

“She’s too delicate for me. She’s like a flower and I’m a weed growing strong around her. I’d strangle her and then everything that makes her bloom will be gone.”

Misty is a woman down on her luck but is working her way through her own loss and is ready to start a fresh beginning. Upon being hired by Six, Misty is immediately attracted to him and once she starts getting mixed signals from Six, she isn’t about to be ignored or overruled by him. What ensues are sexually charged exchanges and when they finally get together it is hot!

“All I want you to do is strip me bare, bite my neck, yank my hair, and fuck me until I’m a quivering mess. She draws out her words and I almost come without even touching her.”

description

Based on his past, Six is resistant to give all he has to Misty in order to protect her and also his own heart. Just when Six is ready to move forward, his past comes back to haunt him and he must act to end it all.

“Carnage lays everywhere, blood and insides litter the walls and floor, and the whining of death is like a balm to my soul.”

Six is a character that I liked immediately and felt the weight of his burden. Knowing his hurtful past and how it formed his present, I understood his resistance to pursue Misty but I loved how Misty fought to pierce his shield. With Six carrying such a need for revenge, I welcomed his violent path to give Haley reverence and peace.

While I am usually drawn to Ker Dukey’s darker books, the plot in Six was mostly steady with a few lags in between. There were some areas where I would have enjoyed more development to further the impact and character dimension for Six, Misty, Haley, Lucky and Max. But, I did feel like I was immersed in Six’s world. Overall, I enjoyed Six and recommend!

Six and Misty...
Six is complicated because he's been through a lot and has daemons he wants to deal with. Misty comes to his shop and gets hired the same day. The attraction between them is inevitable, but Six tries his best not to give in. When they finally can't avoid it any longer, a person from his past, pays him a visit. The anger he once felt comes back and when a terrible incident happens, for which he only blames himself, then revenge needs to be taken...
It was difficult and strange for him to believe that someone could love him for who he is and when Misty does so, then he fells hard.

"She's a saint and I'm a sinner."

I have been obsessed with Six since the moment I met him in the previous book Ten. I have a thing for "tortured" heroes because they think they don't deserve to be happy or find love. They are wrestling with their inner demons on a daily basis. It was the same for Six, we get to see what his demons are early on in the story. Those scenes were heartbreaking!

"I see the prince inside the beast. He has demons, but they aren't who he is- just hosts along for the ride of his messed up life."

Six isn't really living. He lives with guilt and it withholds him from moving on with his life and find the love he doesn't think he deserves. Misty is on her last leg and needs a job ASAP. She gets hired as the new bar manager at Six's bar. There is definitely attraction between the two, but Six is keeping his distance. He goes out of his way to let her know on multiple occasions that she isn't his type. However he gets really jealous when someone else pays her attention. I have to give props to Misty for trying to change Six's mind.

Someone from Six's past makes an appearance and things get chaotic. There are still unfinished business he has to take care of. Six was definitely a dark character. He is very dangerous and goes for the kill. If you mess with his family then you need to be ready to be taken down. There are people who have betrayed Six and he is going to finish what he started years ago. Like I mentioned before there were very heartbreaking scenes and it had me crying.

"You're the sun, and I need sunscreen because I'm burning up."

Overall this book was a great addition to the Men of Numbers series. The writing had me engaged with the story. I also loved the couple of twists in the book, because it added an extra layer to the story. All the characters were really interesting and the pace of the story was great. At the end we see whose book we'll get next and I am really excited about it. I can't wait to read more about his background and who he will end up with. I also hope Ten and Alex will make an appearance in the next book, because I want to know what they are up to.

This was an okay book for me, and a solid three stars, but I had some issues with it. It kept me intrigued and I liked the roughness of Six's character. But the overall story moved kind of slow for me and it got a little too boring for me. Yet by the end I felt like a few details were skimmed over and even through all of the story told it was like they weren't explained as much as I would have liked. And to me a few of these things were pretty big parts of the characters lives so without the details I couldn't connect to either character.

Bottom line, I would still recommend this book for anyone that likes a darker Hero. Even with the issues I had I did enjoy the majority of the story and it has me waiting for the next book in the series.

Wow i had, so many emmotions, while reading, this book to start with, i just love secondery charecters here, which is fab, cause i tend to get atached and love secondery charecters wanting to know more abought them and there life. Im realy curius to find out more abought Lucky, because he seemed a bit weak in this book and you dont get to realy know, why and when he realised, that to be loyal to Six is more important and werth risking his life and getting Vipers against him, yet he seemed an interesting charecter and i want to learn more bought him, same abought another secondery charecter Parker, she was very well developed in this book and seems a great mother, who just wants the best for her daughter and not to be treated by assholes as unwerthy, cause she is a single mother, i also loved her sence of humour and what a great friend she was to Misty and ofcourse her daughter Emma is just so sweet,i had mixed feelings abought Jude he is a loyal friend to Six, but seems to be treating wouman with no respect. And ofcourse Hayley what i saw of her was, so heart breacking and how she sufered and continued to suffer, i was complitly rooting for Six to avenge her and give the Vipers the most horrible death ever, just like they deserved. I hated all of thoes Gang Members and especielly two faced Jordon, who pretended to be a friend being the rapist all along. Abought the romance for me it wasnt the main point of the book and, that well developed, though i loved the sexual tension between Six and Misty and just wanted to smack him for being such a jerk and pushing her away, especially at one certain part, where he sleeps with another girl in front of her to prove to her, he isnt werth it, i got why he thought she deserved better, but it was so frasrating to read, when they were tougether and he didnt think abought revenge and how unwerthy and messed up he is, there reletionship was hot, how they felt conected on a soul level.Overall it was an intence read and i cried at one part.

Another great one by Ker Dukey. This story is based on a character we meet in the book 'Ten' Taylor(Six) is released from prison and ends up where Ten is living. He eventually takes over the bar and opens up a tattoo parlor. That's where Misty come into the story. She is finding a place to land and ends up being the bar manager. Her and Six have an attraction and it take a while before they act on it. When a person from his past comes back, all hell breaks loose. This story has many twists and turns and things happen that I didn't see coming.

I devoured this book in a few hours! You know that feeling when you close a book and realise you've been immersed so fully that you have no clue what was going on around you. I was glued to this book, nothing outside these pages was going to matter until I read every last word.

So many emotions were brought to the surface. It wouldn't be a Dukey book without a twist sucker punching me into submission. I loved every single thing about this story. From laughs to tears, I enjoyed it all. You better carve out your day, if you're going to read this one, you will not want to stop.

After reading Ten, I was quite excited to get into Six' story.  He was a very intriguing character, from the time he had spent in prison to the parade of people leaving his house each morning.  He seemed like such a good guy in the way that he had treated Alex; I was dying to learn more about him and the road that had led him to be the person he had become.

Several days after finishing this book I am still unsure what exactly to say about it.  There were parts of it that were excellent; where everything seemed to be flirting with perfection.  Then there were parts that felt completely opposite.  Things were rushed, characters seemed to go against their established traits.  None of the bad points were enough to outweigh the great moments, but they still left me unsatisfied.  Made me question if sections of the book had been edited out for length.

I loved the darkness of the story.  The gritty details that were embedded through Six' history.  The descriptions of the events that made up his past were stellar.  I could feel those moments; Ker made those things visceral for me.  I wanted more of that type of detail throughout the book.  I wanted to feel all of the things that were happening to the characters, but it sometimes fell short, for me.

I really did like the broad strokes of Six and Misty's story.  I loved almost everything that had to do with Haley and the pain that surrounded her.  I just wanted more.  More of the darkness, more of what could have made this book one of the best books of the year.  But in the end, it just seemed to gloss over a lot of the resolutions that needed to happen in the end.  I wanted more after the climax of the book; I needed to know more about what happened to everyone, and everything after all hell broke loose.

I've read a few Ker Dukey books and will likely read more in the future.  She isn't afraid to go to the dark corners most other authors avoid.  I only hope, in the future, the journey from the darkness will be more detailed and varied than the one that was taken in this book.

Six has been ruined for me. I loved him in the first in this series. Like LOVED. HIM. He was a BBF in the making. Like, TDF BBF in the making. Maybe I'll just cut and paste my favorite parts of this book together so he can still be my BBF.

He was the only saving grace in the first of this series, Ten...which reminded me of another book's plot. The entire time I read Ten I had to keep telling myself published authors don't steal plotting from other published authors.

I anticipated this book like I did Gadziala's Cash and Shooter. I guess I should have learned there that potential BBFs in a series never pan out in their own novels. I'm 0 for 3 now on my expected additions to my 2016 BBF list. That list is short...I need it to grow ;)

I should have learned from Ten that this author can write. Tight prose, engaging POVs, interesting plots, shitty fucking male leads. Yup, it's all here in Six.

Mind you, OW are an ok for me in certain books (even sexually) and triangles can be my catnip. But this trope didn't work for me when Aurora Rose Reynolds did it in "Until Trevor" and it sucks more here. I hate H's that fuck anything that moves to either avoid giving into sexual temptation with the h or to push the h away. And then if the h tries to find another man or one shows interest, the H loses his fucking mind. The only way this plot can go is...doormat. You know, cuz the h's be weak and the H's NEVER have to grovel.

Seriously, are 20 something women willing to put up with this shit? Because they seem to permeate this genre doing just that.

The h is so fucked up over seeing the H fuck a nasty, blonde bimbo in his tat studio (which he does knowing the h can and will see it) she vows to ignore him, but later the same day she catches him at the end of a m/m/f threesome and is all cool with it..all but turned on by it. Huh??? So if it's kinky sex he gets a pass?!?!? WTF. Just...yeah.

But after 40% of pushing her away, and after a particularly brutal rebuff, the h shows up at the H's house at 3am and finally breaks him down with her golden pussy...I mean, heart of gold. Sorry, not feeling her strength as a woman here in trying to be enough to carry them through 'til she can finally get them into bed. If he'd kept it in his pants...maybe. But knowing he fucked around IN FRONT OF HER to hurt her intentionally...doormat is the only thing that comes to mind.

She says to H at moment of truth:

“I don’t want to think about the consequences or what will come after, I just want you to use me tonight—make me yours for tonight.”

So...because she wants to be "used" for "tonight" he's finally on board and thinks to himself...

"I’ve had her so fucking wrong this whole time. I thought she would want lovemaking, but there’s a siren inside her screaming to rip free and I want to let her loose."

Is this reverse slut-shaming, cuz I'm confused. Or seriously insulted that a girl can't want both...Loving and Fucking.

I wanted to DNF right there. But I've been waiting for Six's story for six fucking months.

Did I mention she fucks him bareback the first time without any obligatory discussion. Seriously? I just can't wrap my head around that logic. He fucked a tat client, on his bench, in his studio, in clear view of another tattoo artist and his client, AND the h. Again, I say, seriously???

And honestly, the first H/h sex scene, it was almost fade to fucking black. So much for being so into dirty sex the H doesn't think the h can handle him. (*eye-m'fing-roll*) The scene with the OW in the tat shop was longer and dirtier. Even the h's RECALL of their first sex scene was longer.

By 60%, the h is trying to set up a m/m/f with the OM of the possible ménage to save her relationship with the H because he's pulling away. Yup. My thoughts too. The H has already told her he doesn't want this.

"Maybe showing Six I can be open and share that side of him will take his mind off worrying about Haley and doing something rash."

Though later....

"I feel pathetic for resorting to having Max join us. Using sex to manipulate Six into giving us his attention and taking his mind off everything with Haley makes me feel like a bad person. I’m not jealous of his and Haley’s relationship. I didn’t want them not to be close, it’s just the affect she has on him mentally is unhealthy."

By 74% the Drama-Llama is dancing so hard over this plot my eyes are rolling from the flash off his sequins. I think mainly because I'm no longer diggin' the h. The H is bat-shit crazy, but I get his reasoning for heading off the deep end. And him, I'm still liking ;)

By the end, I'm just happy it's over. I love this author's plots, don't care for the extra douchey H's, but her writing keeps me engaged until the last page.
Every. Single. Time.
And that gives this a 3 star.

And finally, don't get me started on how TSTL this h is when she continually acts all surprised that a shit-ton of major US cities have "gangs" and other criminal activity. Much less that kids are also in gangs. Just shoot her now.

I'll leave you with the best bit of dialogue ever about potential threesomes ;)

“You know, I’m not opposed to Max. We could have some fun.” She shrugs, biting that lip.

“We? You better be speaking in French.”

A man held hostage by his demons.

A man who can’t see beyond his past in order to reach for a future.

A vow to avenge

A vow to make “them” pay

A past written in black and red ink

A chance to begin anew…to live a life based on more than revenge.

A woman who sees beyond his past…beyond his actions and wants to make a life with him.

I knew going into Six’s story that it was going to be dark and bloody because regardless of his plan to live in the now…to make a go at a life about more than making other people pay for what he sees as his own mistake, Six’s memories and nightmares still revolve around his regrettable decision, and when his past extends into his present, he can’t help but get lost in his need to fulfill his vow of vengeance, even if it brings him and everyone who loves him down in the process.

Ker Dukey knows how to create dark and twisted male characters who are more bad than good but still have “honorable” qualities that illustrate just how contradictory they truly are. Six is an absolute contradiction of a man - he does things in order to not hurt anyone but what he does ends up almost destroying them. He can’t see past all of the evil deeds he’s done and pain he’s caused to the point that he’s drowning in it, and that keeps him locked inside his head unable to move on from his sins.

Six doesn’t see it, but Misty is perfect for him. She understands his darkness and isn’t afraid of it. She’s a fighter, and she stands up for herself and what she wants. She refuses to allow Six to dick her around regardless of how much she feels for him, but she also is willing to work for everything and show Six that he doesn’t need to be afraid to get close to her because she sees beyond his sins.

Six is one hell of a gritty and steamy read. In pure Dukey fashion, there’s a few twists and turns that I didn’t see coming, but then those actions make perfect sense and further illustrate just how tenuous lives can be, especially those that start off the way Six’s did.

SIX!!!!

"Sometimes you only had to see someone once to know you wanted to fuck them."

Yeahhhh You are going to fall HARD for Six!!!

Holy Smokes...this book!!!! I hate to say it, but I think I loved SIX more then TEN and I Loved Ten..lol

This boy made me laugh out loud with his mouth and need to take a cold shower after reading the HAWT romance in this book!!! lol Six was full on Alpha Male with a wonderful dirty mouth!!!

Soo this is Six's story, he grew up in the foster system. He had a hard life bouncing around from home to home. He joins a gang...falls in love.....

"The only problem is we're rival gang members." "I knew a real love, a rare love, a love between two people that were never supposed to fall in love. Rival gang members are never allowed to fall in love and it cost us everything."

Years later Six is moving on with life, one day at a time and sleeping with whoever he can to get the pain of his past out of his mind. And then runs in Misty from the pouring rain, she needs a job and Six needs a bar manager...and guess what, Misty is actually a bar manager!! Match made in heaven..right? The only thing is Six feels: "She's a saint and I'm a sinner."
Soo the chase begins. And oohhh what a lovely, hawt little chase it is!! lol Of course in full Ker Dukey style, there is the crazy twists and turns in the story, you can not get enough. You are dying to know what happens every time you turn a page!! You will devour this book sooo quick!!!

I gave this book 5 iScream "SIX" Book Stars!!! I want more Ker!!! lol I would love to read more of this story. I don't want to give away anything. I just want you to know that I loved this story and would definitely snatch up another book if you put it out there..lol Ohhhh and I will also say that at the end of this book, Ker is writing Lucky number Sevens book!! woohooo I cant wait for his story!!

I had been looking forward to reading about Six ever since we were first introduced to him in Ten (book 1) And I can say it satisfied me in every way possible. Six is a man fresh out of prison looking to seek revenge for those who wronged him and hurt someone he loved very dearly. Biding his time and rebuilding his life until the time is right, he won't let anyone get close to him beyond friendships. Then Misty walks through the door of his bar, becomes his new bar manager and Six really struggles to stop the chemistry sizzling and to keep it in his pants. Misty is a feisty chick who doesn't back down, she has been travelling from town to town after the death of her father which forced her to sell everything up to pay all his debts. Looking for a job and a new home fate was on her side the day she stepped into Six's bar soaked from the rain. Misty can hold her own and she challenges Six at every turn giving him as good as she got. When you think things finally start moving and hotting up the past comes back sooner than Six wants ripping everything to shreds. Surviving blame and guilt a second time for six isn't an option cause he can't burden any more guilt than he already has in his broken heart. Protection mode is all he can do but can everyone survive?

I loved Six and he can protect me if he wants lol. The sexual energy radiating from both characters was enough to blow you up. I love a good story with tension and angst and Ker Dukey delivered yet again. There are some really graphic flashbacks in this book so if you have a weak stomach maybe it's best to skip those parts. Overall I loved it and can't wait to read Luckys story.

I am in love with Ker Dukey and every dark twisty romance she graces us with. When I read Ten and found out there would be a book for Six I was thrilled. Not only did I want to know what made Six tick, but I knew his love life would be a wild ride. I'm happy to say that I was not disappointed.

The back story was intense and heartbreaking. It makes you wonder how Six is even able to give out the trust he does to the people in his life. Speaking of the people in his life; Lucky is bat shit, and I love him. Parker is a riot and I also love her. Misty of course is absolutely amazing and the perfect yin to Six's yang.

Six spends so much time resisting Misty even though he is super attracted to her. She works at his bar and has a past love that haunts him to this day. If he lets Misty in will the past repeat itself? Will he suffer the same pain all over again? Or will everything come full circle and he will finally get his happy ending?

This was a page turner, I had to know what was going to happen next. The best part is I never really expected the things that came. I figured a few things out along the way, but I was kept to guessing most of the time! The violence is dark and bloody, the naughty bits are hot, and the story itself is beyond well written.

Can't wait to see what happens with the rest of the men by numbers series! I love these guys!

*I feel like this can be read as a standalone, but I'm not sure why anyone would want to skip reading Ten's story. It's pretty great!*

What is it about a hot hunky man with the weight of guilt hanging round his shoulders? Six.....Tens friend and general sex on a stick, troubled type!

'Knowing my luck, it wasn’t likely she was in to casual sex, or filthy sex— fuck, I wanted to do all sorts of things to that sweet mouth of hers.'

ME, ME, IM HERE SIX, ready and waiting! Alas he was talking about Misty....she was just a lovely, funny leading lady, I loved her!

And this is their story. And its fantastic, well written, suspensey and HOT!

This book had some great lines, I think my favourite was 'She invited me back there for fresh bread, but the only thing that got kneaded was her tits and ass.'!!!! Just fantastic!

Bring on Lucky Seven!

Holy Six I just read the perfect story that consumed me!! Six is Phenomenal!. A slightly darker read with a suspenseful sensual storyline!! I was obsessed with Six, the story and the man!!! When I was forced to put down my Kindle due to real life, Six was all I thought about. "what's going to happen?" Does he know?" Does he feel the same? Oh No what if this happens" ETC...to the point I had to sneak quick reads because I was dying to know what came next.. Then I got to the end and had all my answers but Six is still all I thought about..hello book hangover!!! A must read!! A must reread for me! Loved it!

Let me start by saying, I love Ker's work. She's one of my favorite "dark" authors, and I've read everything she's written.

This is hands down, my favorite book of hers. And Six, by far, is my favorite character.

I was excited for his book after the first Men by Numbers book, Ten. It's there that we catch the first glimpse of him, and boy does that leave you wanting more. Thankfully Ker delivers!

Taylor Jake, aka Six has a brutal past, but he's managed to put it behind him and become a successful bar and tattoo shop owner. He doesn't believe he's worthy of love after loving someone nearly cost her her life, and does everything he can to avoid it.

Misty is an employee, hired on the spot after seeking shelter in from the rain at the bar. She's looking to pick up the shatter pieces left behind by the death of her father. She's smart and articulate, until she's around Six. The mutual attraction between them is strong, but she becomes tongue tied whenever she's around him, and he doesn't think he's good enough for her. Until they both shove the crap aside and come together, and man it's EXPLOSIVE!

And then, a blast from the past shows up in bar and all the uncertainties rear their ugly heads. This is where - as they say - stuff gets real.

There are so many things I love about this book. The dual POV, the anecdotes about the past events that are very strategically placed. Those really help you get a better understanding of what happened, and why Six is the way he is. I love the smoking hot sex, and watching the feelings of Six unfold chapter after chapter. And I love that we meet our next character. Can't wait to see where she takes him!

There are some VERY dark scenes in this book, so if you have ANY trigger issues, proceed with extreme caution. This story is not for the faint of heart, but this book will stay with you long after you've finished it.

Favorite Quotes:

Jordon hit me like a live wire dipped in water - it was fast, shocking me through to my marrow.

I woke up once with a girl who looked like someone completely different from the one I went to bed with. Her eyelashes were stuck all over our bodies, like we'd rolled around on a bed of spiders and ended up covered in their legs. Her tanned skin from the night before looked like she was a melting orange wax model. My sheets resembled an Oompa Loompa massacre.

Sex is just math. You add the bed, subtract the clothes, divide the legs, and pray you don't multiply.

Jude, get that loud mouthed cow out of here before she becomes accident prone and a statistic.

I didn't plan or expect her, but Misty was like a tornado in the dead of night. I didn't see her coming until it was too late and she swept me up and let me see inside her, inside the eye of the storm - peaceful and stunning with all the chaos unable to touch her.

Before him, I was just waiting for my instincts to become sharper to help me seek out the magic this world has to offer, but he was the magic.

My Review:

Six was a dark, gritty, and disquieting read. There were scenes that had me cringing, and others that greatly distressed and disturbed me due to the cruelty of the violence and brutality. The storyline was angsty and heartbreaking, although there were also refreshing instances of clever humor, banter, and wit. Ker Dukey is not for the faint of heart, yet she has a uniquely compelling style that kept me reading - even when I wanted to throw my kindle across the room to get the horrifying words I'd just read far away from me. I also found her descriptions of the various characters to be most entertaining.

I was so excited that SIX was coming...I just could not wait! When the copy finally arrived into my grubby hands (or more like onto my kindle) I was not surprised to find that Ker Dukey did not disappoint. I love, love, LOOOVED that super sexy, full packaged deal man, Six.
When Dalton (Ten) left with his woman (Alex), he left Taylor (Six) with his bar and his house. Six did not have a real family growing up in the foster care system, and he never forgot where he came from so he always seemed to pick up strays to help them get on their feet. One by one they all came to work for him and slowly became his family.
When Misty found herself walking into a bar on a super rainy day after losing everything, she felt so lost. When the big tattooed man offered her a job, what else could she do but accept his help. And WOW...What a delicious man he was.
Six 'felt' when he first lid eyes on this tiny, wet, beautiful, innocent woman...Misty. He just never felt worthy of someone so innocent.
Ker did an amazing job shaping each character in this story. Truths were unveiled and people changed...lives were changed. I started reading this book late at night and woke up on top of my kindle, needless to say that in the morning I had this story in my head so I immediately had to find where I left off in the story and finished it. That is the type of stories that Ker writes, they have such a plot that just snags your attention and holds you hostage until you finish. I seriously cannot wait for Lucky Number Seven's story, I mean there has to be one for Lucky Number Seven right?

"We've gone from denying there was anything between us to being full-fledged together, but I'm not complaining."

5 stars!!! Another great book for Ker!!!

I will be leaving my review vague, because I refuse to ruin this book for anyone. But if you are familiar with Ker's books, then you know exactly what you are getting your hands on. This book is packed full of darkness, twists, and complete suspense! I love this series and I can't get enough of it. And I know you'll feel the same way!!!

I couldn't get invested in this story. All of the stuff about Six's messed up life was good. He was living in the past so much that it was hard to care about his current relationship with Misty. I wish there had been better emotional closure about his past. The ending felt rushed. If parts hadn't been from his POV, I never would have believed he genuinely cared about Misty. She deserved better. Misty was nice. There's really not much more to say about her because there wasn't much to know. Her history was summed up in a few random sentences. Maybe her past had been delved into I would have understood why a nice, innocent woman would be loyal to a man who constantly pushed her away.

We first meet Six who is Ten's friend in the book (Ten, Men by Numbers book 1) and learn a little about him and how Ten met Six in prison this is Six's book and how he came to be the person he is.

I really enjoyed this book because we get to find out about Six's past. We learned a little about him in Ten's book but it made me want to learn his story. Six has a sad past but he did what he did out of love and vengeance. We also meet Six's love interest Misty. She has the hots for him and so does he but he's not giving in... until he does. The connection between the two of them is really hot and it was nice to see their relationship grow. The ending surprised me with a twist not once but twice and that's pretty cool. An awesome ending to a great story.

Omg this was so good another five star read from Ker Dukey.
Full of action, dark and an underlying lovely sexy erotic love story. Not what you would expect from Six. I felt he didn't want to give in to his feelings with Misty after Hayley.
Six and Misty a really sexy adorable couple eventually.
We also meet some other great characters along the way in this book.
A good story which had me gripped from start to finish. I loved how the introduction early on in the book of one of the characters Lucky will lead on to the next book Lucky Number Seven, very cleverly done. Can't wait for it.

Bang. Bang. Bang. Bang. Bang. Bang. Six bullets for revenge – and a name.

"Our scars remind us what we lived through and survived was real. It’s our story – our tattoos of life, written with blood and pain."

After Ten, this is book 2 in the Men by Numbers series, brilliantly written à la Tarantino.
I loved it. Bravo @kerdukey ! I can’t wait for Lucky Number Seven to be released.

"She’s like a flower and I’m a weed growing strong around her. I’d strangle her and then everything that makes her bloom will be gone."

"Until the moon stops shining above you and the sun ceases to rise from beneath, and even then, in all that darkness… I’ll still love you. How can you not see, not know, there’s nothing you can do, tell me, or be responsible for that would stop me from loving you. I’ll follow you into hell."

And then all hell broke loose… Oh fuck.
