Christy Barritt is an author, freelance writer and speaker who lives in Virginia. She’s married to her Prince Charming, a man who thinks she’s hilarious—but only when she’s not trying to be. Christy’s a self-proclaimed klutz, an avid music lover who’s known for spontaneously bursting into song, and a road trip aficionado. She’s only won one contest in her life—and her prize was kissing a pig (okay, okay… actually she did win the Daphne du Maurier Award for Excellence in Suspense and Mystery also). Her current claim to fame is showing off her mother, who looks just like former First Lady Barbara Bush When she’s not working or spending time with her family, she enjoys singing, playing the guitar, and exploring small, unsuspecting towns where people have no idea how accident prone she is.
Random Acts of Deceit by Christy Barritt *** I liked it Lots to keep the reader guessing in this Romantic Suspense and wondering whether Chase and Holly will survive.
The Camera Never Lies by Elizabeth Goddard **1/2 It was OK Some intriguing bits to keep the suspense alive but I couldn't quite get into this somewhat rambling mystery.
A Good Party Can Kill You by Cynthia Hickey **** I really liked it Though this is the last in a series of seven books, it read well as a stand alone. I loved the sassy PI heroine, Stormi Nelson. I think I should get the other 6 books just for the fun of going on more wild adventures with this interesting character.
Buyer's Remorse by Traci Tyne Hilton **** I really liked it Nearly skipped over this one because I've already read it once before, but I'm glad I didn't just move on to the next book in this boxed set. I like Mitzy and Alonzo. They are especially interesting in this 3rd book of 4 in the series. It was fun revisiting this story.
Dead as a Doornail by Linda P. Kozar **1/2 It was OK Not really my cup of tea but it did have some entertainment value with a cast of "interesting" characters who use a whole new lexicon of amusing phrases.
Inn Plain Sight by Elizabeth Ludwig & Janelle Mowery **1/2 It was OK This was an entertaining mystery with a liberal dose of romance but... I am getting a little tired of amateur sleuths who plunge headlong into trouble instead of letting law enforcement officers do their jobs.
Gone With the Groom by Janice Thompson ***1/2 I liked it This Missing Person Mystery is entertaining to read in part due to the inclusion of numerous delightful witticisms courtesy of the narrator's best friend. So many books in the Christian cozy mystery genre are not really faith building or faith affirming; they are more like merely clean reads with a bit of praying offhandedly thrown in. I was pleased that this one was truly faith building and faith affirming with prayer playing a starring roll and God being given the leading roll.
