Escaping from a 6 month imprisonment as a sex slave to a demon, the heroine starts to build her life back. She teams up with a mysterious man who turns out to be a rogue mech and is wanted by the law. The hero is extremely self conscious about his body with the metal all over and wants nothing more than to get rid of it. It breaks your heart how passionate and sad he is when he keeps insisting that he's not a machine, that he's human. The heroine is in denial about what she's turning into and when it finally hits her she breaks down and sobs. The hero, a gentle soul who cares a great deal for the woman is there to pull her up by her boot strings. That's what their relationship is like. When one falls or stumbles the other is there to help them. They can't trust anyone but each other and it's sweet how they interact. It's more than a romance, it's a friendship.

Good story and interesting characters. I'd give it a 3.5 out of 5. So much going on in the story, I realize I should have made sure there weren't books before this one. I was still able to follow it.

Cyd escapes the demon world, but when she returns to Crimson City, it is unrecognizable and there is rampant distrust. In fear of her demon captor's promise to find her and bring her back, Cyd is desperate to keep that from happening. But explaining where she's been for several months only puts her in greater danger, not to mention, she doesn't want to return to Ops. So she has earn her voucher in this new world of chaos...and attempting to do so puts her right in Finn's alley. Finn, a mech (machine/human mix), has gone rogue from Ops and has become a mysterious but reputable freelancer for the right job and right fee. He recognizes Cyd for what she was and is, and while trying to hide his mech side from her, tries to help her get her voucher. But when Finn overhears an order to take out Cyd, he attempts to convince her to return to Ops to save herself and hopes she will be able to save him, too...will Cyd ever be able to trust again, including her own feelings? Will Finn's inner human or outer machine win? Will they stand a chance when her demon captor returns?

This is the first full-length Crimson City series entry that I've read [I downloaded it when Amazon offered it for free] and I found that I loved it. Even though CRIMSON ROGUE is actually the sixth book in the series, I had no problem picking up on the history of the series world, and the characters who inhibit it.

I'm going to check out the earlier books, though I am annoyed with myself for reading CRIMSON ROGUE first - I've probably spoiled tons of the earlier sub-plots by starting with book 6.

I really enjoyed the story, but the conversion from paperback to Kindle edition has screwed up the grammar and spelling, so I've removed a star as it does distract readers from the story. I can't believe that the publisher, or the author herself hasn't read though the book. I'm not a grammar nazi, but the errors are numerous and jump off of the page at you.

A good installment in this series. It ties lots of things together and could be the end of the series (although I have a set of novellas and a Kindle edition still to read, so I guess not). We brought back almost all of the previous characters with cameos or at least mentions and that was fun. I liked the idea of the tortured solider just discovering what it means to be an individual and how to function on a level of being human and single. Also, what it means to be human because as a mech, Finn was torn between his two sides. I liked how Cyd came back and literally faced her demons to be stronger and more independent because of it. All in all a fun read and that's what I'm here for!

Cydney sees an amulet as she is abused by a demon Griff-Vai in his world & she is plummeted back to Crimson city. She has no home, no money & no trust.

She meets Finn by accident. He is half human & half machine. He wants to be human & he wants all the metal removed.

Crimson city is a LA taken over by humans, vampires, werewolves & demons. Police hunt rogues.

It was a good story. Not my favorite. I liked all the characters, but the descriptions of the characters were very vague. It's a nice series to read if you are looking for an urban fantasy.

Not much romance & it is on the light side in comparison to most.

Book 6 in the multi-author Crimson City series. This one was better in that it didn't deal with yet another human falling in love with a hated paranormal of the opposite sex. I'm so tired of those. If you're this far into the series, which does need to be read in order, you have to read this one and keep on until the end. This book is more Dark Urban Fantasy and less paranormal romance.

This is the first book I have read by this author and I thought it was pretty good. I'm not quite positive if I will be purchasing the sequel. It is a good paranormal novel, I am just not use to all creatures in the story. Normally I read only vampires or only werewolves, etc.

Riveting. Took a few chapters to get oriented since it has been a year or so since last book, but then full throttle.

Action-packed, but excellent conclusion?

Terrific, excellent, worthy once again of the Crimson City series! I think Liz Maverick knows how to create an alternate reality really well. But she left me stumped, which I will get to in a minute.

If you read the first book in the series, you’ll understand why this seemed like a complete turnaround for Cyd Brighton. In the first novel, we’re told of what she did before joining B-Ops, things she’d seen and wanted to forget. It had to horrible enough for her to live the way she lived, including the drugs. Her disappearance was a great mystery, and I was left feeling slightly unfulfilled with not having an explanation.

In this novel, we get the explanation, and it’s enough to get the shivers. Incredible as it was, she escapes Orcus and the demon who pulled her in. But she refuses to go back to B-Ops and becomes a rogue. She wants nothing to do with her old life, finding that, while gone ‘missing’ for three months, a lot has changed. Determined to persevere, she goes to the only place where she believes she can make a fresh start: Bosco’s; a seedy bar where it seems the rogues like to hang.

And that’s where Finn is. He is the mech in the first book, the one who murdered Fleur’s brothers, under orders. He went Rogue from there, learning to live day to day in his surroundings, wanting and trying to rip the metal from his flesh. More human than machine, he wants to live and will do anything not to be brought back to his ‘non-existance’.

Cyd and Finn are attracted to each other almost right from the first. Finn pushes Cyd to report in to B-Ops, not wanting her killed. Claiming she has no clue where she’s been while missing, they ship her right back to where it all began, where she’d first been spotted by Griff-Vai, the demon who took her to Orcus with one thing on his mind: Cyd replacing the vishtau mate he’d lost.

But Cyd and Finn team up, and their inner battles rival the action-packed ones, which I really, really liked. But when it all becomes too much, with Griff constantly in her head, the threat of being brought back to Orcus, believing the medallion she’d taken when Xiao Fei and Patrick closed the portal between both worlds (Seduced by Crimson) was the link and returning to Patrick being hopeless, Cyd falls into despair and ends up back the way she was before her kidnapping. However, she is no longer exactly the same: now part human and part demon, she is scared beyond belief and while a man’s prophecy seems disjointed to her, she comes to believe it. Forming an alliance with the rogues, Cyd, with Finn’s help, fights back.

Lots of action, lessons learned, and love found. While they seem an odd pair, they fit together beautifully.

And this is where I come to the comment I made in the first paragraph: How can this be the end? No way! The epilogue raised more questions, the promise of another story. Oh, Ms. Maverick, please, pretty please tell me this isn’t the end? I so badly want Jill and Marius to be happy. Please!

I enjoy it when a series moves forward the way this one does. You know, that book 6 picks up directly where book 5 left off? At the same time, those of us who were wondering what happened to Cyd way back in "Crimson City" (book 1) are finally getting the rest of the story. Cyd disappeared and now she’s back. Her story smoothly picks up from "Seduced by Crimson" (book 5) which is sort of rare for this series. All of the books follow each other, but the ones by different authors don’t necessarily interact. This one did.

Cyd’s story was enjoyable, as was learning more about her. Finn, her love, was also last mentioned in detail back in "Crimson City" (book 1) and fleshed out (he he, he’s a mech who is trying to become human) in this book. They each have a quest that brings them together. They each grow up a lot, and find love along the way. It’s good to see so much growth in any character, and it was fun to see it in them.

"Crimson Rogue" turned the story line in a new direction by bringing organization to the various vampires, humans, werewolves, mechs, demons, and druids that chose to band together. The vampire, werewolf, and human governments have tried to make things work in their own ways, but not enough to bring any kind of piece to this urban fantasy city. Can the rogues do what everyone else has tried and failed to do? There are several more novellas and one more full-length novel left in the series to answer that question.

So I tried again to get into this series. I'm not a fan of series where authors all write in the same world but put their own spin on it. A couple of these authors I like in the series but I think because it isn't "their own" and it is collaborative it doesn't work. This was a free read as I got it on amazon during a sale. Book 6 did not get any better than the 1st book I read. It's still just okay.

Audiobook.

I'm enjoying this series more and I don't know if it's because of the author change up in this series or Rebecca Rogers's naration. There's a lot of crossover from people from the previous books. This romance I liked too. Not a whole lot of "do I or don't I", which drives me crazy. I'm planning on listening to the rest of the series.

This is by far my favorite of the series. It was action packed and while it had two stories running together it was very good. It brings back a character from the first and has a side story with another smaller character for an earlier book as well. I loved the characters though and throughout the book it was intense.

I have mixed feelings about this one. On the one hand, the H was fascinating. On the other hand, the whole set-up w/ the heroine was just ridiculous. Also, apparently the whole purpose of the book was for her to break the bond with some demon who kidnapped her, although you don't find this out until like oh, the last few chapters.

I got this book from Dollar Tree and it turned out to be very good! There was a lot of action and the characters were likeable. The book is not packed with romantic scenes so if that is what you are looking for you will not find it in this book. Other than that it was a great book. I may read some of the other books from this series.

I didn't realize this was the sixth book in the series when I read it- that being said, it was easy to jump right into the story and follow. I really liked the characters and the interactions among them. I will be going back to read the first books!

Great story in itself. It was fun to read, but I discovered that I'm not a fan of half-man, half-machine heroes. Still, it's a great book in the series, brings the last two books together and has a fun and lovely romance story in it.

Book #6 in the Crimson City Series and they are, mostly, written by different authors. There are 7 total in the series and I see that book #7 ends the series.

I thought they were fun reads.

If you like some romance with your paranormal, you should like this book. The characters are likeable, the situation interesting. (Crimson City is a city on which a series of Crimson books is based)

One of the better books in the Crimson City series. This one takes us back to Cyd from book one, who has just returned from the demon underworld and gets involved with a mec.
