Kenny Haskell's hard work and determination finally paid off last season when The Baltimore Banners called him up from the minors. That doesn't mean the quiet defenseman is willing to stop proving himself. Each day is a new fight, a new opportunity, to prove to his coaches, to his team—and to himself—that he belongs with the Banners. Kenny is convinced he'll be able to keep his head in the game with no problems—until he gets thrown out of a youth hockey game by one unforgiving ref who proves to be more of a distraction than he anticipates.

Lauren Gannon approaches life with a single successful mindset: take no prisoners, never give up, and always rely on yourself. At least, that's what she likes to think. The last year has been a little different. Being saddled with her younger sister who refuses to grow up and take responsibility for anything is turning Lauren's world into one crazy disaster after another. The last thing she needs to deal with is a professional hockey player who's too attractive for his own good—or for her sanity.

The one thing Lauren has learned in life is to never underestimate the unexpected, and falling for Kenny definitely fits into that category. Can they really be friends and lovers? Kenny does his best to prove they can. But when a sudden family obligation forces Lauren to choose between what she knows is right and what she thinks is expected, will she find herself skating on thin ice and risking the happiness she really wants?

On Thin Ice by Lisa B. Kamps is a hockey romance with a different twist. This novel has a mystery/thriller edge to it alongside a white hot romance. Lauren Gannon has always worked hard for everything she has and where she is in life. She loves and supports her family but her younger sister, Lindsay, who's been living with Lauren has been causing her nothing but stress and money. Trying to juggle being a caring sister. Kenny Haskell loves hockey and since being called up to the Banners he's push himself to prove to his teammates and coaches he belongs in the big league. Spending some time at the rink with a teammate watching a youth game, Kenny gets the wind knocked out of him and thrown out of the arena. He can't stop thinking about the beautiful ref who challenges.

Lisa has done it again. 8 books later and each book is so fresh with a different twist allowing us to fall in love again and again. Lauren is such a strong character and once walked all over for so long fights back but you understand her reasoning for trying to give her sister the benefit of the doubt. Kenny is adorable and you can't help falling in love for this romantic softy who is super supportive to Lauren. Lindsay the third character of this book. Well I wanted to slap the living $hit out of her more than once, her character is so cruel and vile it's hard to see how she can be redeemed. I love how Lisa's two series: Baltimore Banners and Firehouse 14 are starting to cross over from time to time. I highly recommend On Thin Ice it is a completely different feel for a sports romance. 5 Stars

Having read “Into the Flames” (Firehouse Fourteen #4 series) before this book was probably not wise BUT that is what I did. It had some of the same people and was a spoiler of sorts. That said…

Kenny Haskell has been on the Banners hockey team for less than a year and is still somewhat insecure about his team status when he meets Lauren Gannon, a referee for children’s ice hockey. They encounter one another a few more times, eventually end up in a relationship and have issues to deal with. I enjoyed their relationship but had trouble with Lauren and her relationship to her sister. I cannot see such a tough, well adjusted, intelligent woman being willing to put up with Lindsay and make the excuses she did for so long. Other than that…the story was interesting and an easy fun read.

Wow Lindsey is the sister from hell, and I'm really wondering if there was a mental issue that needs to be dealt with. Besides that this didn't have much going for it

Obviously when you read this you'll realize I'm a bit late entering it here as we are way past the play offs now. In fact the new season is much closer than the previous one. Where did the summer go?

As of this writing, the NHL playoffs are still on and there are still a couple of Canadian teams still in them, the Ottawa Senators and the Edmonton Oilers. And I’m still on a hockey romance/Lisa Kamp in particular, binge

Kenny Haskell is the hero and Lauren Gannon the heroine in this particular book in the series. We’ve seen Kenny as a secondary character in a few other books and now he’s the star. He’s been on the Baltimore Banner NHL team for a short while now and while he is doing well, it’s still in the back of his mind he could get sent back down to minors. He’s at a game with a fellow team mate watching his son play when Kenny becomes one of those dreaded “hockey parent” even though he’s not the parent and when he starts arguing a call, is thrown out of the arena by Lauren, our heroine who is not about to put up with any shenanigans by spectators. They run into each other a few more times at charity functions and mutual attraction plays a strong role. Rather than being upset about getting kicked out of the game, he is amused by it and would really like to see more of her.
Lauren is equally taken with Kenny. But Lauren has baggage, serious baggage. She is raising her younger sister and brother and her sister is a class A bitch who also has eyes for Kenny and has no qualms about playing real dirty in trying to get him, even though she knows Lauren is in love with him.

I loved Kenny in this book but I had issues with Lauren which knocked it down a few pegs. She is such an enabler for her sister. Her sister does her wrong again and again and again and Lauren keeps making excuses for her. I lost patience after a while as I would have booted said sister’s ass right out the door.
But other than that, I thought this one a most excellent book in this series.

DEEPLY EMOTIONAL

It is so hard to understand mental illness in one we love and it can be devastating to the family and friends surrounding them. My opinion comes from a life of living with mental illness in my immediate family. This illness, I believe, was portrayed well in the case of Lindsay and the effect it had on Lauren. The emotional gambit we read her going through is real in so many lives especially here in our own. Kenny was also a victim but his strength of character and love for Lauren enabled him to start her on the path to healing.

I loved this approach to an ending that could have gone so different. I caught on to Lindsay before she offered to buy Lauren her drink but was still shocked at what happened. I must also mention how great the secondary characters were...Dale, Lauren & Lindsay's brother, as well as Kelly and "Rugrat", Kenny's sister and niece.

Wonderful reading! Loved it!

Good but

I like the series but this isn't my favorite one. I'm happy to see that Kenny got his own book but I didn't feel any connection between him and Lauren.
I also thought the relationship between Lauren and her sister dragged on to long. She let her sister get away with to much.
I also think it needed more of an ending.

The book description does a good job of telling what this story is only it doesn't convey how truly awful Lauren's sister, Lindsay is! The sparks fly from Kenny and Lauren's first, inauspicious meeting. Their second meeting doesn't go so well either but that doesn't stop them from fantasizing about each other. They have a lot of chemistry and it shines in every scene they have together. I love that Lauren is a strong and loyal person even though the wicked sister doesn't deserve it; and I love Kenny, who is always there for Lauren. The story is well-written and entertaining. I received a copy of this book in return for an honest review and I enjoyed it very much. 4.5 stars.

On Thin Ice (The Baltimore Banners, #8) by Lisa B. Kamps Lisa B. Kamps’ ON THE ICE is another amazing addition to The Baltimore Banners Series.  The last thing NHL defenseman, Kenny Haskell, expects to happen at the youth hockey game he attended was to be thrown out by referee, Lauren Gannon.  The two keep bumping into each other in not the best of circumstances. This contemporary sports romance is suitable for new adult and adult audiences.

I really like both Kenny and Lauren.  They are both hard working and love hockey.  They had some interesting encounters prior to becoming civil to one another.  They have great chemistry and fun verbal banter.  I appreciated that Lauren calls him out on his bad plays.  She is tough and responsible.  She has a good heart and is loyal.  Kenny is a great guy.  He has worked hard to get where he is at and determined to stay there.

Lauren’s little sister Lindsay is a little brat.  I felt sorry for the position she put Lauren in.  She is a selfish individual who does not appreciate others.  She causes some conflicts that make the story interesting.

The plot was believable and skillfully executed.  The story flowed well and exciting from start to finish.  The hockey scenes were expertly described.   ON THE ICE had a great ending.  I learned some interesting medical things I was unaware of.  I like that Lauren’s brother, Dale, is a firefighter and will have a story in Lisa B. Kemps Firehouse Fourteen Series, Book 4, INTO THE FLAMES.  I thought it was clever how she tied in her two series.  I really enjoy The Baltimore Banners and its characters.  I cannot wait for the next story in the series.

5 Star Read:
My absolute favorite and will read again and again. I strongly recommend! It has outstanding qualities. The characters are wonderful and surprising and multi-dimensional. The writing is luring, engaging, and well-crafted enough to keep me interested from cover to cover and beyond. The plot is astonishing with twists and turns weaved into a well thought and planned story. There’s no pretense and romance was well balanced and done entirely correctly with properly distributed amounts of hints, behaviors and incredible, undeniable chemistry. Predictability is at an all-time low. With the exception of series based books that follow the same path but are just as good. Overall, Favorite, must read again, recommend!!!

This is book 8 in the Baltimore Banners series, but can be read as a standalone. This is actually the first book by this author that I have read. I am so going to one-click more. I loved this book.

I love reading about hockey and love. When Lauren and Kenny meet for the first time it is not under the best of circumstances. She is a pee-wee hockey ref. You hardly ever see that, and I loved it. Kenny was just finishing his daily practice for the Banners. These two meet and there is an attraction, even if they both let it fly over their heads.

I loved Kenny. He is a respectable man that is close with his sister, loves his niece and she is a cutie. Lauren has two siblings, Dale and Lindsey. Dale is in this book and he was a good guy as well. Lindsey I wanted to kick her ass. Lauren tries to help Lindsey, but lindsey doesn’t want it.

These two have the chemistry and it isn’t overboard. Kenny is a big softy and has a huge heart. He really likes Lauren and Lauren really likes him, but are both afraid to share. Lauren is confident and sure of herself and I loved that in the female lead. Kenny is there for her even when she thinks he doesn’t need to be. She has a good friend in her boss and Kenny has great friends and teammates. I can’t wait to read more from this author.

"Desire exploded inside him, sending heat and need through every part of his body. He was afraid to move, afraid to act on it, afraid of what he wanted to do. Because what he wanted to do wasn't even close to being soft and tender."

4 hockey puck stars!!!

This is the first book I've read in this series and I can tell you now.... it won't be the last. This book had me on the edge of my seat while I was reading. I loved the dynamic between Lauren and Kenny. The story definitely had me wanting to know what was going to happen next. This book almost consumed me, I couldn't function. This is the first book I've read by Lisa, but I know that I'm on my way to one click more of her books now!

On Thin Ice is the eighth book in the Baltimore Banners series. As with her other books, the action is hot and steamy, so definitely 18+. While this book is part of a series, it can be read as a standalone. As a fan of the author's Firehouse 14 series, I love that this book features a few of my favorite characters from that series as well.

The book blurb adequately describes the storyline so I'm not going to repeat that info here. The author did a good job of giving depth, thoughts, and emotions to these characters. You could really feel the struggle and turmoil that Lauren was going through regarding her sister. As a hockey fan, I always like the hockey action, but like how this book also highlighted the charitable events the players get involved in. I look forward to reading the next book in the series.

I received an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review. But I would have bought it if I hadn't as I love this series.

There are hockey romances that are good and then there are Lisa B Kamps hockey romances which are on a whole new level of good! On Thin Ice brings us another story of one of the Baltimore Banners, this time Kenny Haskell, who has just been brought up to the Banners from the minors and is trying to fit in and belong, proving he belongs in the big leagues. An unexpected run in with a woman who is tough as nails and a hockey ref to boot has Kenny falling over himself. The chemistry between Kenny and Lauren is off the charts and would have the hockey ice melting, but then throw in a deadbeat little sister that is jealous and full of hate and it adds even more heat and suspense to the story. I absolutely fell in love with the Banners (and this from a Flyers fan!) and continue to fall even deeper in love with them as I read about how they are all doing in this series. I hope that this series never ends and we are still reading about the Banners years from now!

Score!!

This series is one of my favorite hockey series. The author has found the perfect balance between hockey, romance, and sex!! Life is about decisions and chances. For Lauren, her sense of putting her family first leads to an overwhelming financial and emotional cost. Kenny, NHL hockey player, meets Lauren at a youth hockey game she is refereeing. This meeting leads to Kenny getting kicked out for mouthing off at Lauren. Lauren and Kenny meet again and the chemistry between them continues to grow. The book leads us through their journey of learning to love and let go. This a great read! I highly recommend starting with book one because this series is incredible!

All I can say is Wow! There is something about this book that completely took me over as soon as I turned to the first page. I loved the dynamic, repartee and steamy romance between Kenny Haskell, defenseman for the Banners, and Lauren Gannon who referees youth ice hockey games. Lisa Kamps is a very talented author and On Thin Ice is a must-read for fans of fast-paced sports romance. I received an ARC in exchange for my honest review.

On Thin Ice is a hockey romance with some suspense thrown in the mix. This was Kenny and Lauren's story and I loved them together. The author did a great job of showing how they fell for each other as well as their insecurities in the novel. This book had it all....interesting story line, steamy romance, hockey, and an evil sister. Great characters and a interesting twist really added to the novel. This was a good read.

Excellent

This is a good hockey romance. I think it could have had more villainous action-the sister had enormous potential. That said, the book is good, the characters strong enough to carry the plot, and to hint at future books. I confess, I have not read the previous books in the series (yet).
Must go read!

Wow! I've been diligently reading Lisa Kamp's series and enjoying them. But this one has really taken the series to another place. Wow! Loved it!

Great characters, wonderful additional twist. And I totally adored Kenny and Lauren.

I do think that Lindsay could have been even worse but hey maybe I'm just feeling like a little villain today. Great job Lisa looking forward to the next one!

A Good Romantic Story

I liked Kenny and Lauren's story. At first I thought Lauren was too good to be true the way she put up with her sister's. shenanigans., she really loved her sister and just couldn't think badly of her . Kenny was the sweet guy and Lauren was his HEA. A Good Romantic story

These were great characters with a ton of chemistry. I liked seeing some of the other teammates mixed in with the story. Going to need to read the rest of the series since I kinda skipped a few.
