ANNIKA🧁
My life? Kinda weird at the moment.
I’ve been looking for love, but a string of disastrous dates has not left me with much hope.
Also, Jacob Jameson, the gorgeous, charming, completely out of my league friend I’ve had a stupid unrequited crush on, has just asked me to help him develop the menu for his brand-new restaurant.
Naturally, I said yes.
Let the months of awkward blushing and pretending-I’m-not-swooning begin.

JACOB🍳
Things haven’t exactly been going my way lately.
My old restaurant was sabotaged, my hard-earned reputation is in shambles, and the woman I’m in love with? She won’t even look me in the eye.
But I’ve got a plan.
Annika Abbott—the sweet, shy, insanely talented baker I can’t stop thinking about—is going help me with my new restaurant.
And if I play my cards right… maybe she’ll finally realize we’re meant to be.
No more waiting. It’s time to win her over.

Annika Abbott is sweet, shy, and hopelessly romantic. Unfortunately, her recent string of dates has been more horror show than happily-ever-after.
So when she agrees to help her longtime crush with the menu for his new restaurant, she tells herself it’s strictly professional.
Even if her heart flips every time he smiles. Even if his hands are way too distracting. It'll be totally fine. Right?

Jacob Jameson has known Annika was it for him since… well, forever.
She’s kind, genuine, and has a smile that knocks the wind out of him. The problem? She’s been dodging him for months.
So he does what any lovesick, overworked chef would do—ropes her into helping him launch his dream restaurant and hopes he can finally convince her to give them a shot.

Cooking together? Easy.
Falling in love? That’s where things get messy.

Author’s Note: 18+ For mature readers only. contains graphic language, steamy scenes, a determined-but-clueless chef, a sweet baker with serious self-doubt, one very theatrical best friend, an unhinged-but-loving meddlesome family, a very insightful goldfish, and a judgmental little demon cat with zero respect for private time.

Tropes:
Found family 💗
Cosy small town setting 🏠
Slow burn but spicy romance 🌶️
Chef x Baker romance 🔥
All the banter ✨
A guaranteed HEA 🌈

A steamy, slow burn small town romcom, Falling Sweetly is perfect for fans of Laurie Gilmore, Lucy Score and Tessa Bailey.

Absolutely loved Niki and Jake's story. This sweet burn between them comes at just the right pace as they find ways to break out of their comfort zones and truly get to know one another. I loved reading as Niki settled into her skin and learned acceptance of herself. When her inhibitions were down, she was so flipping cute and dorky. Jake had to learn to believe in himself and the people who love him. The family dynamics are heartwarming. I found myself invested not only in our main characters but in the supporting characters that continue to be shaped and defined as the series progresses. I can't wait to read more about Starling Falls and the interesting folks that make it what it is. This book is full of absolutely hilarious moments.

Here are some of my favorites:

When Jake is driving with Tisha, his coworker. He warns himself... "Keep your mouth shut and do not anger the beast by talking on the drive to the airport. She is tiny but freakishly strong. You're in a small confined space. She throws something at you, you may not survive it."

Niki had a bit of an avoidance problem with poor Jake... "Every time I tried to call her, a robotic voice (that sounded a lot like Niki's) always answered with the same message. It told me that the person I was trying to call was not available because she was 'busy doing something super important' and that I should leave my message at the tone."

Jake's twin brother Josh is my kind of guy... "I trailed off at the sight of Josh in the middle of the bakery, doing the running man, really badly, to the song playing on the radio I'd forgotten to switch off. My jaw fell open as the running man morphed into the robot and then the sprinkler."

Finally, everyone should have an Aunt Deb. She is more mother to the family than aunt as she raised them and she is simply amazeballs... "SCREW THAT! IF YOU LIKE HER, JUST TELL HER! THINK ABOUT MY FUTURE GRANDBABIES, JACOB."

Safety: No OW/OM/Sharing. No rape or abuse.

Aidan Willows takes us back to STARLING FALLS in the second installment of this charming small town series.

Jacob Jameson is having a tough time lately. Nikki the girl of his dreams is avoiding him. Someone sabotaged his restaurant resulting in a scathing review. With his reputation in ruins, and the owner deciding to close the restaurant permanently, Jake is thinking of taking a job that will send him to Chicago and away from his family and Nikki.

description

Nikki can't remember what happened between her and Jake on New Year's Eve, but she knows she must have made a fool of herself. She's been hiding behind mailboxes and abandoning shopping carts all in an effort to avoid Jake and keep her crush on the hot chef a secret. When she sees him looking unusually downtrodden at a family party, she knows she needs to go see what she can do to help. That's what "friends" do after all, right?

When Nikki makes a suggestion about Jake's future, he sees an opportunity to woo her. What better way to win a girls heart then have her helping you make your dreams come true...

description
"What do you have against clowns?” “You know who chooses to become clowns, Jake? Sociopaths, that’s who! Don’t let the friendliness and balloon animals trick you into thinking they’re nice. They’re not. They are evil creatures."
description

The majority of my four stars rating for this one is all because of the secondary characters and how the hero and heroine interact with them. That is really the gold in this one. The Jameson family is FUNNY and sweet, and reading these characters interactions with each other is a purely delightful experience. There are SO many side characters that have great potential for future heroes and heroines. I am super excited that Nate's book is next. Nothing I love more than a damaged brooding hero.

description

That said...unfortunately the relationship between the hero/heroine lacked something for me. I don't know if it was because SO much was going on around them story wise or the fact that is is over 2/3rds into the book before they actually have sex. I just didn't feel a spark between these two like I did with the couple in the first book. I loved Jacob, but he didn't come close to being the "alpha" Caleb was. Much to my disappointment. And Nikki's insecurities drug on too long in my opinion. Plus there were a couple "one month" time jumps that made the lack of progress in their relationship even harder to understand. I dunno, I just didn't "feel" them as a couple.

description
"Ruined.” I heard him mutter. “What?” “You’ve ruined me. Nothing can ever compare to what we just did. There’s never going to be anyone else for me."
description

I also had an issue with how the whole restaurant sabotage storyline was wrapped up. Mostly that is WASN'T. One mild confrontation with the culprit and Addie and Josh doing something, and we never get a resolution. I was hoping for the "baddies" to get a little police visit or something a little more drastic and permanent than what actually happened. *shrug*

So overall I enjoyed this one for the awesome family feel, the humor, and the amazing secondary characters. Was disappointed in the Jake's and Nikki's relationship and the way some storylines were left. It also needed a better epilogue. Though I am sure we will be hearing from this couple again in Nate's book.

4 'Be Brave' Stars!

photo Falling Sweetly - Aidan Willows_zps5bba2kbs.png

I've been waiting for this book since forever (or it seems like it). When I read Falling Completely (the first book in the series) I fell in love with Aidan's characters, their crazy but lovable relationships and the humor she portrays so awesomely. That hasn't changed on this work and still on the same style Aidan has written something quite different!

Falling Sweetly is the second installment of the Starling Falls series and it continues the story of the members in the Jameson family and how they fall in love. In this case, it was time for Niki Abbott (the little sister of the heroine in the first book and a shy baker who has some pretty big insecurities about herself which translate in avoiding certain chef) and Jacob 'Jake' Jameson (the third oldest sibling in the family, a man who loves cooking but is now in a pretty difficult situation and also who is decided to finally go for what he wants: Niki).

Aunt Deb: YOU AND NIKI ARE ON A DATE? / Me: No, Aunt Deb. We’re just having lunch. / Aunt Deb: WHY ISN’T IT A DATE?! / Me: Because it isn’t, Aunt Deb. We’re just hanging out. Stop yelling at me in capitals! / Aunt Deb: NO! YOU’RE BEING STUPID. I WANT THAT GIRL AS A DAUGHTER-IN-LAW. MAKE IT HAPPEN, JACOB. OR ELSE. / Me: What do you want me to do, Aunt Deb? She’s still nervous around me. I’m giving her time to adjust to the idea of there maybe being an us. / Aunt Deb: SCREW THAT! IF YOU LIKE HER, JUST TELL HER! THINK ABOUT MY FUTURE GRANDBABIES, JACOB.

I just had to put that crazy long quote because I love Aunt Debbie so much. This actually represents what I enjoy most about Aidan's books: the familiarity. The Jamesons are a big happy family that have a super-close relationship between them. I mean, it's so close that they are always interrupting between Jake and Niki. Someone could find that annoying but the way Aidan writes it, I just find it extremely hilarious! I really really love this family! So many funny moments together!

“Why is this so hard for me?” I asked her quietly.
“Each rose blooms in its own time, cutie.”
My expression turned desperate. “What if I never bloom?”

“Prepare to be wooed like you’ve never been wooed before.”

Now let's talk business: the main couple in Falling Sweetly is Jake and Niki. Well, I have to say this story is quite different from Falling Completely. Liya and Caleb hit it off pretty fast and these two are quite the opposite. The building of their relationship is slower and it gradually increases until they start being in an actual relationship and having sex. Niki is a very insecure woman and that slowed the process too much for me. I mean, sexual tension is awesome and I loved it but I missed having more intimate moments between them. Obviously, leaving that aside, when the sex happens, it is HOT!

“Oh, my God. Jake. What are you doing?”
“Having my dessert,” he growled as his mouth attacked my dripping slit again fervently. “And it’s one of the sweetest things I’ve ever had in my mouth.”

Jake is a sexy chef, right? ;) Moreover, I have to say that even Aidan's writing (which was pretty good since the beginning) has improved. The story was fluent and well-developed. I enjoy that it had lots of different scenes that made me feel so many different emotions. And talking emotional, I loved when Niki finally accepted herself and took over the vixen inside her! The book has a pretty good ending, even though I wanted more of these two together! I never have enough lol

“I learnt something today.” I gyrated my hips over the noticeable bulge under his jeans.
“Oh God,” he groaned. “What did you learn?”
I raked my nails across his scalp, and the groans from him made me grin. “I learnt that I’m all kinds of awesome.”

Therefore, my rating for Falling Sweetly is 4 STARS because it definitely is a great addition to this series, a series that portrays a family that I am falling in love with more and more with every book. I also enjoyed the love story, especially towards the end! Niki and Jake are so adorable together! So if you want to meet this big, crazy, happy family, check this one out! I recommend :) And, I want to thank Aidan too, because she is awesome! Thank you for the copy and thank you so much for acknowledging my blog on your book! <333333

Ah man I loved this, even more than I did Falling Completely and I really liked that one. If I'm honest I was a bit hesitant to start this - I'm not a huge fan of the old push 'n pull trope if it's dragged out or overdone. Here it wasn't thankfully.

Niki lacks self-confidence which is her reason for pulling away from Jake even though she is so into him. Equally, Jake is hot for Niki but doesn't push to get in there. Now then, I love me a hot, growly, rumbly alpha male and Jake is all this but with sensitivity for Niki. There was no beat-his-chest neanderthal moves but he sure did pull some awesome HOT alpha moves. Go Jake!! Niki is not the strongest character but she was perfect for Jake. He's the quiet one, the nurturer and carer of the family and she definitely needed gentle handling to bring out the Niki she had buried in there. And he did, in spades.

They get together over Jake's problem with the restaurant he was running being sabotaged, and things grow from there. Not once did I feel the story dragged, in fact I couldn't put it down once I started and read through till 3.30 am, and was left with a silly grin on my face. I LOVE feel-good books like this. A really sweet romance, no ex drama, no cheating, no ridiculous plot lines, a little bit of 'who done it' to keep the story moving forward and great pacing.

I love books, and especially series, on small town romances and this fits in there to perfection. Aidan Willows has built up a fabulous world in Starling Falls chock full of brilliant characters that had me laughing out loud several times. The strong family bonds, poking fun at each other, caring for each other and being there for each other leaves me in such a happy place.

5 I want to move to Starling Falls stars. I bloody LOVED it.

I cannot put into words how much I adore this series. Book 1 was great, and I love the little extra snippets the author gifts us with.

I did worry, given just how much I loved book 1 and loved Caleb and Liya if the second book coudl live up to that. But I loved this story and Niki and Jake just as much.

I loved Niki, she was super adorable and funny in trying to hide from Jake, and Jake was a great hero, patient, loving and determined to win his girl. It is a slow build romance and it suited the characters perfectly.

I loved every minute of this book and once again the Jameson's and residents of Starling Falls provide a perfect supporting cast for the series. It is a absolute feel good romance that leave you felling all happy and warm.

I really can’t recommend this series highly enough!

Don’t you just love it when you find a new author who’s writing packs a real punch. So many up and coming authors find their feet slowly but that is definitely not the case with Aidan Willows. Right from the start of this series, I knew it was going to be a memorable one. All too often I forget about a book the minute I start a new one but there was something about Annika (Niki) and Maliya’s story that stayed with me and left me desperately waiting for the next instalment, Falling Sweetly.

From the arrival of the two sisters in Starling Falls, and their first connections with the Jameson’s, you could feel that something special was about to happen. For us readers we get perfect stories about beautiful people but there’s so much more to get your teeth into and with so many other family members, and friends, waiting in the wings, I can’t wait to read on.

Despite this story being firmly about Jake and Niki, I couldn’t help but crave any interaction there was with Jake’s twin, Josh. Now there’s a character that I can’t wait to read about. From his fun loving ways to his easy going personality, I just know his story is going to be one to savour. I just hope he isn’t hiding something sad behind his zany personality.

In this story, Jake and Niki were another a dream pairing. With Niki so insecure it was painful, Jake knew he had to tread carefully around her but there’s carefully and there’s CAREFULLY! Jake could win a medal for being slow and steady but fortunately, with a little prompting, in part thanks to Niki’s dating disasters, he is finally ready to step up and to be the man Niki hoped him to be. With Niki’s innocence, Jake knows that every moment with her is special but despite his endearing ways, Niki’s self esteem holds her back until Addie steps in that is! Niki was a perfect character to compliment Jake.

Niki and Jake’s story centres around Jake’s failing restaurant business and despite their rather bumpy friendship, it’s not long before Jake realises that Niki is the answer to his prayers, in more ways than one. With shenanigans clearly at work, thanks to a rival restaurant, Jake must think, and act, fast to secure his future and his dreams.

This series is also extremely funny and lighthearted. There isn’t any angst and there isn’t too much drama. This book simply tells a real life story of two everyday people, plus Josh! Oh, and you can’t forget Shadow the weird but wonderful cat or my favourite, Freddy the easy to talk to goldfish.

If you’re looking for a new author to sweep you away then please, please take a chance on Aidan’s writing. You may just find yourself falling heavily for the Starling Falls characters, one by one.

So, Nate’s story is next and I guess the oldest and but mysterious brother is set to reveal himself to us. I can’t wait!!!

Falling Sweetly (Starling Falls #2) by Aidan Willows

“Be brave, be bold, take chances”

SQUEEEZE! My heart is so happy right now after reading this breathtaking romance. Falling Sweetly is the second book of the Starling Falls. The first book was about Annika’s sister Maliya and Caleb. Annika is shy, sweet, and a bit socially awkward. She wants to find Mr. Right to share her life with but lately she is not so lucky in love. Annika has been serial dating men she meets online but they all turned out to be losers. Annika has been crushing on Jacob for a while but thinks she is not enough for him. On top of that she suffered quite an embarrassing incident with Jacob. One drunken New Years eve party Annika was a bit tipsy so she disclosed her true feelings for Jacob in addition to doing a little grinding on her object of affection. The problem is she’s not certain what really happened that night. So, she evades Jacob every time she sees him.

Jacob is a handsome, successful chef. He too has a crush on Annika but did not think she was interested in him because he knows Annika has been avoiding him like the plague. He does not really know why she put him in the friend zone. After hearing Annika’s confession New Year’s eve, Jacob held out hope that Annika might actually have feelings for him. So when Jacob’s job fell apart he took an opportunity to coax her into helping him with a new menu for his restaurant. What a perfect plan to spend time wooing Annika into giving him a date and maybe more . There you have it! Let the chase begin!!!

“That was me telling you that I like you, baby. I really like you. I’ve wanted you for a long fucking time. No more hiding from me, no more running away.”

I seriously adore all the characters in this book. Annika has a little issue with self-esteem but Jacob helps bring out the best in her. She is beautiful, sweet and caring. Jacob is positively swoony. A handsome chef so obviously good with his hands, among other things LOL. I mean who would not want to be chased by a man like that – handsome, talented, and most of all a gentleman. I also love the storyline – so sweet, cute, lighthearted. Besides a couple of douche bags that I don’t want to speak of, I enjoyed the nice secondary characters, the small town feel of Starling Falls, and the closeness of family and friends.

The author’s writing is fluent from beginning to end and full of hilarious banters. Since I am a sucker for the friends to lovers chase I could not stop reading. I wanted to see the finish line with these two so badly I actually finished this book in one day. This story is also told in dual POV – my favorite. You get too see what both of the character’s views are on each other.

If you are looking for a feel good love story, funny, sweet, sexy, and low drama you have to give this book a go! I LOVED IT! I can’t wait for the third one that will feature Nate.
4.5 Sweet Stars read for me!

Unfortunately this book was not very good, and if I'm being honest I wasted my time reading it.
I can see from other reviews that I'm going to be in minority here but I simply don't care. I read a lot and by that I mean 6-7 books per week. I liked the first book in the series and I gave it 5 stars. That's why I was so excited to get an ARC (thanks to the author).
First of all the MCs didn't get any together time or spoke to each other until chapter 5. Second, this book was more about him (Jake) opening his new venture (restaurant) than about them as a couple and their "romance" was so lame. Last, my advise to the author is to stop describing physical features of every single character, especially the ones that are not important to the actual story. This thing was driving me insane. I'm being serious here, please stop doing this because it is not necessary and kind of boring.
I'm not sure if I'm going to read any of her books in the future, but I wish her good luck.

This is the second book in the series and I found it just as enjoyable as the first one. I really enjoy Aidan Willows style of writing. This is the story of Annika (Niki) Abbott a rather shy, kind hearted woman who is looking for love (yet determined to avoid it) and Jacob (Jake) Jameson the man who has fallen for Niki and whom Niki has a giant crush on and does her very best to avoid.
When the opportunity arises, Jake asks for Niki’s help to create a menu for his restaurant, knowing it will be almost impossible for her to evade him.
This is one of those series that is really a pleasure to read about, you almost feel as though you are a part of the Starling Falls community. One of the things I love about this series is that there are so many secondary characters that just make the back story so interesting. There is so much humour (I particularly love the character of Aunt Deb) I was at times laughing out loud from their antics.
Since Niki has had so many disastrous dates, Jake will need to handle himself carefully, after all slow and steady wins the race, or in this case the girl. I must say that at times I wanted to push Jake along, there is slow, and then there is slow; overall though I really loved the way Ms. Willows wrote him. When Niki and Jake finally got together, it was hot and steamy.
The characters were extremely relatable and the story well written; a beautiful story of love and determination. Overall this was a great addition to what is a quirky and fun series about an amazing group of characters from Starling Falls and I look forward to reading more about them.

I liked the romance portion of this book but what really won me over is the family dynamics. It was cute and funny.

I didn't connect well with the characters until around 40% or so. I easily get frustrated when an H and h circle each other for no reason other than they do not communicate. The family humor kept it going until the main characters finally started to get a clue.

Falling Sweetly is the second book in Aidan Willows’ Starling Falls series. I really loved the first book, Falling Completely, as it laid the groundwork for a promising series based on one of my favorite tropes: the small town romance. A big family, lots of side characters, an interesting little town and the potential for many romances. Oh yeah, this series is totally up my alley, and I was very much looking forward to this installment. Falling Sweetly focuses on the romance between Annika, or Niki, the sister of Liya from Falling Completely, and Jacob, one of the brothers of Caleb, the hero in that book.

Pastry chef Niki is socially awkward, lacking in confidence and plagued with low self-esteem. Considering that she somehow mustered up the courage to relocate to another country to not only care for an aunt she barely knew but to also run that aunt’s bakery, this kind of surprised me. There really was no explanation for this or flashback to incidences in her history to explain these deep-seeded issues (besides the loss of her parents at 14), so I don’t fully understand where they came from. Considering the sizable role these issues played in this character’s overall development, I think that specific piece of her background should have been fully fleshed out for the reader. In doing so, readers, and this reader in particular, would have had a better understanding of and for this character. Unfortunately, between the way the character was written and the lack of this critical information, I found myself feeling more frustrated by Niki’s behavior than sympathetic to it. I did not connect with her on any level, and at times, I found myself even a bit annoyed by her.

Chef Jake, who is dealing with some professional challenges, really likes Niki and is getting frustrated because she’s been actively avoiding him for months following an incident on New Year’s Eve that, as it turns out, Niki doesn’t even remember. So not only is the restaurant that he’s running for his retired mentor failing, but also his reputation has been tarnished, and the girl he likes is ignoring him. Learning that she’s out there, going on dates, is what spurs him to make a move. Jake is a straight talker and, once he decides to pursue Niki in earnest, he makes his intentions very clear. The thing is that it takes quite a while for the reader to get to this point. But, even after they’ve come together as a couple, the focus is primarily on Jake’s new business venture; fortunately, he’s drawn Niki into it to help him so there is a lot of interaction between them, but it’s not all romantic.

I found the development of their relationship to be very slow moving. As I said, the focus is really on Jake’s new business, and while Niki has a role in getting it off the ground, it’s hardly romantic. Because there is such an emphasis on the business side of their relationship, I really had a hard time connecting with Niki and Jake as a young couple falling in love—a couple of friends, sure, but the romance between them was underwhelming and I missed it. I totally got that Niki is awkward and that aspect of her personality was played up – sometimes fantastically – but on every single one of their dates, they faced some sort of calamity that rendered the date wholly unromantic. Further, a lot of their non-professional interactions and conversations felt this way, too, and it just became too much, too overplayed with the awkward, uncomfortableness. The few times that they were in sync, though, they were cute together, but I wouldn’t say their sexual chemistry was hot. In fact, when they did actually get down to it, it was sexy, but Niki’s character had been so vividly portrayed as self-conscious and uncomfortable in her own skin, that it colored the way I saw her, and I had trouble feeling any sizzle between them.

I still like this series, I like the other characters in the Jameson family, and I want to read their stories. I think that for me, though, particularly in terms of the romance portion of this book, Falling Sweetly fell a bit short. My issues stem from Niki’s character and how the author portrayed her; I couldn’t see past her awkwardness, her discomfort in social situations and her odd behavior to connect with this character. These traits were so overwhelming that they colored her every action, and, in some scenes, it would have played out much more fulfillingly for me if she didn’t have such a heavy cloud of self-consciousness hanging over her. I did, however, enjoy the abundance of humor in this book – lots of bantering between the characters, a few slap-sticky moments and some truly original and well executed comedic scenes. Falling Sweetly was billed as a romance, though, and that was the part of this story that I struggled the most with, so for that reason, I’m giving it 3.5 smooches.

I WANT TO MOVE TO STARLING FALLS!!!!!!!!!!! The first book in the series was totally awesome and if you have not read it stop, go get it, and read it now cause let me tell you, you are missing out. This book is all Niki and Jake. Like the first one, this book had it ALL. Humor, romance, sexy sexy fun times, and the secondary characters were just as amazing. They added to and enhanced the book instead of taking over for the main characters. Niki and her sister (book 1) moved from London to Starling Falls so that Niki could take over for their great aunts bakery. Jake is a chef at a fancy restaurant. Hmmm a Chef and a Baker... can you say its getting HOTT in here??? Now Jake's restaurant has a rival that sabotages him and the owner decides to shut it down. Jake has been after Niki for 8 months but he's been trying to take it slow especially with how his professional life is going. Niki is BLIND, as in has NO CLUE Jake has been trying to let her know he's interested. After an embarrassing New Years Eve (which is hilarious) Niki who cant really remember has been avoiding Jake. However, at a party for his aunt and uncle Niki finds him and asks whats wrong. Jake tells her about the restaurant that is going to close and she (because she's a woman and clearly we are smarter) is like DUH open your own up. The book follows as Jake enlists Niki's help in opening up his own restaurant (sneaky) and Jake finally stops giving hints and GOES FOR NIKI in a BIG WAY. She finally gets it and lets just say its a good thing they are used to flames cause it gets HOT! Now for me a mark of a great writer is having a lot of secondary characters, weaving them in and out of the story for the main couple but not having them overwhelm the main couple. Aidan Willows is a master at this. I could go on about this book (like the boys setting around watching romance movies to get help) its truly wonderful. But you need to experience it for yourself. I will also say that I will be moving to Starling Falls cause Nate's book is next and he's mine! ARC was given for honest review.

Where do I begin?
After reading the first book in this series, I knew I was going to get more of the same humour from Aidan Willows. I never expected it to be more!
Oh my God, it was hilarious! Luckily I wasn't sitting in the middle of the park while reading. No, this time, I scared the crap out of my dog when I laughed, making him bark like mad. (Sorry pup)
Anyway, back to the book...
Jacob/Jake is such a sweetheart but has a string of bad luck come his way that's no fault of his own. The worst part is that the girl he likes keeps avoiding him too. Could it get any worse?
Annika/Niki, a sweet, yet shy girl, has problems facing the object of her crush, but when she finally does, things don't turn out quite as they planned.
These two characters work so well together, and Aidan writes them in a way that has you rooting for them. I loved them both and loved the buildup to them admitting their feelings for each other, and almost bust a gut from laughing at the things Niki came out with, and also her sister, Liya.
The supporting characters only added to the excellently placed humour in this story and didn't retract from the heartwarming romance between the main characters.
A wonderfully written, beautiful story that had me howling with laughter. I can't wait until the next book in the series!
I highly recommend picking up a copy of this book, but be prepared to have your sides split, and an insane grin on your face.

You matter too, never forget that. Focus on finding your happiness.

I fell in love with Starling Falls, the Abbott sisters and the Jameson clan in Falling Completely earlier this year and have very much been looking forward to Jake and Niki’s story in Falling Sweetly. This book definitely lived up to its title, it was a cute, sweet and quirky romance that was a lot of fun to read! Annika (Niki) Abbott is the younger sister of Maliya, the heroine of Falling Completely. She’s a talented baker who moved to Starling Falls to take over her grandaunt’s bakery. Her personality is also pretty much the opposite of her sister, where Liya is outgoing and confident, Niki is reserved and shy. At the urging of her Aunt Trudy, however, she is trying to put herself out there to try to find love which leads to a string of awful dates. She does have her eyes set on one guy in particular but she lacks the confidence to actually believe that he might like her too. This guy is none other than Jacob Jameson, the brother of her sister’s fiancé. After spending an awkward night together on New Year’s Eve, Niki hasn’t even been able to show her face around Jake. What she doesn’t realize is that Jake has been pining for Niki since way before that night and can’t seem to figure out how to get her to even talk to him. When his job as head chef for a local restaurant is sabotaged, he’s forced to set out on his own and roping Niki into helping him establish his new restaurant might just be the opportunity he’s been looking for to get Niki to see his feelings for her.

Be brave, be bold, take chances, put yourself out there and stay your sweet, loving self.

Niki was adorably awkward for most of this book. I think a lot of women will be able to relate to her and some of her hang ups. I like that she was not your typical flawless, model type but more like a real woman, a few stray stretch marks and all. I loved her journey of building up her self-confidence over the course of this book and finally accepting the fact that someone like Jake, who she’d deemed out of her league, would find her desirable. I think there was a good message there to not be afraid to take some chances but to remain true to yourself along the way. I think Niki ultimately did that and I enjoyed watching her transformation.

“This thing between us is real, Niki. You don’t get to hide any part of yourself from me tonight.”

I loved Jake! He wasn’t as alpha as his brother Caleb was but he definitely had his moments. He was more of a sensitive soul and I liked seeing his more thoughtful, gentle side. He was great with Niki, he was patient and respectful and it was clear he was totally smitten with her. I thought their relationship was very sweet. It was also hilarious seeing all of the disastrous things that happened to them on their dates. This one was a much slower burn than the first book, but I think it fit with the characters’ personalities.

What really stole the show for me though was the Jameson family and the other secondary characters. I fell in love with this large, meddling, hilarious, loving family in the first book and I loved being able to spend more time with them here. They played such a huge part in pushing Niki and Jake towards one another and they were the source of many comical as well as touching moments. It’s such an eclectic group, they are all so unique and distinct, and they play so well off of each other. They are a group of characters that I wish were real because I’d totally want to be friends with them all. I love that there are endless possibilities for future books and pairings and I am very excited to see that Nate’s book is next. He’s the biggest mystery still and I cannot wait to find out more about him and see him finally open up!

If you enjoyed Falling Completely then I think you’ll also enjoy this follow up. If you are looking for a sweet, sexy, low angst story that’ll make you laugh and swoon then definitely check this out!

“My beautiful little baker, it’s going to be my mission to make you see yourself how I see you.”
At my blank expression he continued, “Perfect, simply perfect.”

I loved the 2nd book in the series just as much as the first book. Although the books are better read in order it is possible to read them as standalone's due to Aidan explaining parts of Jacobs and Annika past and relationships with the other characters.

Annika aka Niki is a quiet and unconfident and doesn't like her body and thinks she's not perfect and therefore doesn't deserve Jacob. I loved how Aidan shows how someone can have insecurities about their body as most women do and shows that it is ok and that we are all beautiful in our own ways.

Jacob has always been the worrier in his family and this escalates when he finds out about the restaurant he works at is closing. But when he is inspired to create a new restaurant he has to find courage in himself to believe that it is possible.

Thank you for another fantastic book and I can't wait to find out what happens in the next book involving Nate.

I loved the author’s debut novel FALLING COMPLETELY so much that I was pestering her for the second book right away! And I was so honored to receive an eARC (Advanced Reader Copy) for review!

FALLING SWEETLY is the story of Nika Abbott, Liya’s sister, and Jake Jameson, Caleb’s brother. In the first book, as Liya was falling in love with Caleb, Nika and Jake had some chemistry of their own, which has only intensified in this book.

Jake and Nika are both successful professionals but with soft hearts and unexpected insecurities. It was so cute watching Nika literally hide from Jake every time she saw him. She has a huge crush on him, but apparently she thinks she embarrassed herself with Jake at the New Year’s Eve party in the last book and has done everything to avoid him. Including leaving a full cart of groceries in the store, having someone else serve him in her bakery and even hiding behind mailboxes! What Nika doesn’t know is that Jake is just as enchanted with Nika as she is with him. And he’s got it bad!

As Jake’s professional career takes several hits, Nika is there to offer council and friendship only…no matter how much Jake wants there to be more. Their courtship is full of funny mishaps and embarrassing moments where Nika is sure Jake will start running for the hills any minute.

I loved Jake and Nika’s story! The characters are brilliantly formed and I could easily relate to Nika. Many of her insecurities are identical to some of my own. I felt that made Nika’s character realistic and believable. She has a beautiful soul and you could feel it throughout the whole story.

Jake paired with Nika perfectly. He is strong, patient, kind and so loving. I could relate to his character as well. He is always concerned about others and genuinely cares for people. He’s not much of a joker like his twin Josh, but he is focused, loyal and always worrying about the future and his family’s well-being.

And I cannot forget about all the wonderful secondary characters! Liya and Caleb are engaged and couldn’t keep their hands off each other. Dogs in heat would be an appropriate term to describe them! Aunt Deb and Uncle Jeremy are the most loving and wonderful characters I’ve ever read. They adopted Jake and all of his siblings from a horrible home environment when they were very young and gave each child the love, support and stability they all needed!

Jake’s brothers and sister are nosey and always butting into each other’s personal lives, and that was no exception here. We’re also introduced to some new characters and a few that are mentioned in the previous book. Every one of the characters are carefully thought out, brilliantly crafted and they complement the storyline well.

I loved Jake and Nika’s story so much! They paired beautifully together. What brought the whole story together was the witty dialogue. I laughed out loud so many times! The only negative aspect of the story was that it had to end! I need more! So much more!

FALLING SWEETLY is a mix of humor, family and love. It’s a comfort read that soothes the soul and tickles the funny bone! I highly recommend the entire series!

***I want to thank the author for generously offering me an early copy of the book in exchange for an honest review. All conclusions reached are my own***

My review for Falling Sweetly by Aidan Willows is going to sound corny, bias and selfish and I don't care, because after reading the second book in the Starling Falls series I was left with one of the best book highs ever. I love this series, and this story reminded me why. I love the Jameson family, I love all the brothers and the Abbott sisters. Aidan Willows has made me feel as if I am apart of this family with her writing. The selfish part of me wants a story written for each character and I am not talking novellas (short story), I want a full blown story.

Annika Abbott may be the most insecure, shy and awkward character but it is her kindness, love and her quirks that make her lovable. Annika's need to find love leads her on some crazy dates but it does open the eyes of one man who has had a crush on her since the day she came into his life. With her bakery running smoothly, her time could be used to help a friend out with his restaurant and who knows it may be that time together that could lead to something more. Will Annika's insecurities be the downfall to having a relationship with a man that can see every part of her and has fallen for her just the way she is?

Jacob, is the chef in the Jameson bunch and has hit a hard patch, he trusted a co worker and that lead to tarnishing his name as a chef. He finds himself making a decision with his employment, the changes could lead to him finding his love in cooking again and it could also lead to finding true love. Jacob has been so busy with work, he never had time to date but once he finds out that his brothers fiance's sister Annika is dating, his possessive side comes out. Jacob is not hard to fall in love with, but will he have the patience it takes to wait til Annika falls in love with him?

It may take a while in the story til these two characters come together, but in the meantime Willows had me feeling the sexual tension between them. I laughed and had heartfelt moments with the Jameson family and the built up of a relationship in the making made my reading experience worth the wait. When Jacob and Annika finally let their guards down it is passionate. I am not kidding, when I say I can't get enough of each and every character. It has it's silly moments, it's steamy moments, brothers and sisters moments and moments of self doubts; Annika with her body issues and Jacob with doubting his decision whether it be his cooking or his new venture in business. The one thing this story has is...
love and this family loves hard. This is a 5 star must read!

I was asked to review Falling Completely for an honest review and I really enjoyed it so I was expecting good things from Falling Sweetly! We met both Jake and Niki in Falling Completely and I knew I was going to love them both.

This book was definitely slower paced when it came to Jake and Niki’s relationship but that was one aspect of it that I really enjoyed. I loved seeing their awkward encounters and the build up of their relationship. It was definitely different than Aiden’s previous book

I have to admit though Jake wasn’t at all what I expected him to be. I thought he was going to be quiet and pretty meek but that couldn't have been further from the truth! Jake really came out of his shell in this book and we see a completely new side to him, one who knows what he wants and goes after it and he definitely won me over with his dirty mouth! Jake was such a sweet guy, he treated Niki like she was a queen and was just so freaking loveable!!!

Niki is a really socially awkward girl who comes out with some hilarious statements that had me in stitches. She is this really kind hearted, generous and all around loveable heroine who doesn’t bring unnecessary drama to the mix!

I felt a real connection with Niki, there were some traits that we share and just like her I hate them! I'm an overly emotional person and will cry at the drop of a hat and I also have a lot of body issues that I struggle with daily. I think that will resonate with a lot of women though as I know most of us struggle with our self image!

We get to see a little more from Caleb and Liya as well as all the other Jameson’s! The supporting characters are part of the charm of this series as they all bring something different to the stories. They are a loveable bunch who will have you laughing alongside them! The Jameson clan are a handful and I really can’t wait for Nate’s story. That is one broody man I’m excited to read about!!

I really enjoy Aiden’s writing style and love the fact that there isn’t just drama thrown in for the sake of it.

This book has been one I’ve been looking forward to since I first met the characters and I have to say Aiden didn’t disappoint. The characters in this book were loveable and had me either constantly laughing or at times trying to dislodge a lump from my throat!

This was one of those books I was dying for the author to finish, because the characters are so alive and their situations so full of humor besides having the difficulties and angst of their day to day lives. Poor Annika is socially inept and about as shy as a girl can be when it comes to sex and relationships. But she loves her job as a baker and is respected for the talent she is. And Jacob is a driven chef who seems to have it all together when it comes to his career. He knows what he wants and takes charge. What he doesn't expect is a betrayal that could ruin his entire career.

When the Jameson family is involved, anything can happen and nothing is secret. There are comical situations and accidental and some not so accidental moments that lead up to a New Year's Eve spent together (with Jacob taking a gentleman's role) and an awkward morning after, leaving Annika embarrassed to even show her face around Jacob. Of course, he's had a mad crush on her since way before the New Year's Eve party.

It's when he has to change his career direction that he manages to enlist the help of sweet Annika. Sparks fly and strange incidents occur that bring this unlikely couple together in ways neither of them could have predicted.

Ms Willows has such a way of getting into the heads of her characters and digging up what will not only keep the reader interested but make us laugh, cry and feel all of the other emotions on the spectrum. She throws people together that we would never predict and takes us on a whirlwind ride that we're glad we bought a seat for. I can't wait to see what her next tale has in store for us.

Falling Sweetly is the second installment of the Starling Falls series by Aidan Willows.

Jacob ‘Jake’ Jameson is in a tough spot after getting a horrible review that destroyed his restaurants reputation. Not only that, but Niki has been avoiding him as if he holds the plague. Not knowing what else to do, he ponders about taking an offer that will take him away from his family and Niki.

Niki Abbott has always had her eyes on Jacob Jameson, but she’s been avoid him because she can’t remember what happened between them on New Years Eve. Though when she sees him looking down at a family party they get to talking about everything. Next thing she knows she’s offering to help him.

He’s ready to show Niki that her fantasies are about to become reality.

Aidan Willows created a fairytale! I love how Niki was shy and sheltered then her sister Liya (from the first book, Falling Completely). Niki and Jacob’s relationship took a bit more work which increased my interest into their relationship. Jacob slowly helps Niki through her insecurities which was filled with love and support as they grow closer. I really enjoyed seeing Niki break out of her shell and become more confident in herself. In addition the love, family feels and laugh out loud moments will have you falling in love.

Highly Recommend!

'She was it for me,and I would do whatever it took to make it work between us'-(Jacob)

* I received a copy in exchange for an honest review.
Having read/reviewed the first in this series,I feel again that the cover is a wee bit of a let down, and as I put in my previous review,if looking for a new read, this might get overlooked on that basis as it doesn't really grab your attention (or perhaps that is just my opinion).

However,I was interested in the story, which can be read as a standalone, but I would advise
to read the previous as it does revolve around character's already introduced in book 1.
This follows Annika(Niki) and Jacob (sister of Maliya/brother of Caleb-bk.1) and their story.

The book blurb gives some detail as to the concept,so no further explanation needed, but what I will say is that I enjoyed this story a bit more than book 1,I liked the two leads,we still get a dual POV which I think works well, there are some hilarious scenes, especially with Jacob and the rest of his brother's-who were intoduced in Book 1,but there is enough of a re-cap in this one to anyone who hasn't read it.

Both Niki and Jacob have a mutual attraction towards each other, and it slowly builds with the whole friends first before they finally get 'together',which again, added to my enjoyment, and I am looking forward to the rest of the series.

I am an absolute fan of Ms. Willows. I love how her characters are so relatable. I could picture myself as Annika with all of her insecurities and understated strength.
Annika (Nikki) Abbot is a shy pastry chef who inherited a bakery after her great aunt dies. She doesn't have the self confidence to go after any man and she has major self doubts. Nikki has an awkwardness about her that is so endearing to me.
Jacob (Jake) Jameson is the head chef at a fine dining restaurant. He wants Nikki, but she's been avoiding him like the plague since the New Years party. When Jake get a devastating review from the fine dining reviewer his world slowly starts to fall apart.
Jake with the help of Nikki start on a joint adventure to help Jake open up a family-style restaurant. But then disaster strikes. From sabotage to vandalism, will Jake ever be able to open the restaurant?
If you are looking for a heartwarming story this is the one. I highly recommend this book!!!

Im really getting into the Starling falls series.. This second book follows Jake and Niki as they struggle to to overcome their hang ups, fears and in Jakes case business worries. The Jamesons are a very loving loving close family considering what they went through. Sisters Liya and Niki are welcomed into the family after they also had difficult pasts. When Jake finds out that Niki is back on the dating scene(albeit disastrously), he can't can't handle it but thinks playing it cool is he way to Nikis heart. Although Niki has a crush on Jake she's avoiding him thinking she made a fool of herself at new year. Trying to get them together is easier Said than done. This story is not only funny but it's heartwarming and has a real feel good vibe too. It's a brilliant book and I can't wait to follow the other members of this funny, sexy, caring family

I loved Falling Sweetly totally. The characters were lovable, funny and familiar.

Jake is a total hottie who knows his food and Niki with her insecurities, ramblings and large heart is such a cutie. (Totally stole Aunt Deb's nickname :P)

Aidan makes sure that we feel a part of her story. She takes us through the journey of Jake and Niki with humor and without any drag. Even the pets in the story are interesting and humorous.
You feel the urge to soak up all the story without missing a single part. Its light and entertaining.
She also makes sure to leave enough hints about the future stories.

For anyone looking for a fun filled read THIS IS IT!!
