“With the breach of our world by those intent on invading it, a veil has been opened, giving way to the evolution we needed to stop. Now, I must ascend this veil that has released boundless evil into our world. This inheritance I possess is the key to a legacy bestowed to me; one that I have not yet discovered. My name is Jesca Sera. My reality has been pierced and it is with absolute certainty that nothing will ever be the same in our world again.” ~ Jesca

With the guardians attempt to stop the global invasion and apocalyptic evolution of the earth, two of the men in Jesca’s life have made the ultimate sacrifice in a daring attempt to save her from near death and keep the veil, a celestial barrier meant to separate our universe from all others, from remaining open. The fate of Ezra and Nate is dismal unless Jesca, Xander, and the other guardians can find a way to get them back, while destroying the evil that has seeped into our world, and sealing the ethereal veil between our universe and the evil that lie beyond it. As Jesca ascends beyond the veil, malignant illusions meant to turn allies against one another are at every turn in this parallel universe. One truth among the illusions is bestowed to Jesca; the celestial inheritance from her ancestors along with the prophecies of what is to come of the guardians and earth.

This is book 3 in the fast pace world where nothing is has it seems and everything has come to a big bang. This book picks up shortly after the end of book 2. And now young Jesca is feeling the lost of both her father and her true love and linked partner Nate. She is left with his link Xander who she still feels for but doesn’t know how to deal with it. Jesca against all odds is determined to save her world and Nate and her father. She must do something that has not be done before and transverse to unknown world without way of finding it going through a black hole.
Some quotes from the book.
“I turn the small, clear, rectangular world in my hands. Careful not to disturb the ant’s free will their decisions, their distinct and individual purposes.”
“I pinch my eyes closed and think of what we must look like to a fly on the wall; cold, dying, fish flopping about, trying to to breathe out of water, The morbid thought pisses me off and I grab his hand tightly”
“The funny thing is the legacy will wind up being our path to salvation, the only true protection we have left”
Jesca really learns how to lead in this book and you tell it is not the last book in the series with the ending. She is a strong and feisty girl that will do anything to save those she loves. In this book she is the main foucs in this book. Her character development is MAJOR in this book. Before I looked as her leaning too much on Nate, Xander, and her father this time is all on her own and making the right calls at the right time with a little assistants from her dead mother Anna. I was very proud of her in this book and look forward to where her character goes next.

Meg's Review:
This novel was a roller coaster ride page after page. I could not put it down once I opened that first page. These characters just stay with you. Even after months of not being in their world it was as if I hadn't left.

We pick up from the same spot we left of more or less. There are some major events that have left you mouth gaping towards the end of the second book, and the start of the third doesn't stray from that ideal. It embraces it and brazens forward in this world of constant battle. And little do we know the battle has just begun.

Not only has Jesca lost her father, but her Link. One of the men she finds herself torn between. Jesca takes the world upon her shoulders and she isn't to far off in feeling that it is. She is the catalyst in this war and she is fully aware of it. Even if she has no idea who to fix it. How to save those that she loves. But she does know one thing.

She will find a way to save them.

And that is exactly what she does. She fires those around her to find a way to get her into the black hole and off to where the ones she loves are. Jesca develops so much in this novel. All the characters do. They are forced to and as you would expect they rise to the occasion.

Epic. It is the best word I can find to describe this series. Please. Read it. Its a roller coaster ride that I won't soon be exiting.

Synopsis:
Amazon’s Best Selling Piercing the Fold Series

A veil has been parted.
A galactic intersection has been spurred by the hands of an enemy, the Sondian Fellowship. Now, a veil, a barrier, meant to divide our universe from all others has been parted. This celestial veil was meant to keep beings of those universes from invading ours; mythical, fantastical, demonic, and angelic beings. Jesca and the rest of the Dobrian fellowship quickly realize that these beings have been the very product of the “illusions in reality” they have been tracking, dodging, and protecting mankind from.

One that Jesca must ascend.

Ezra Kahn and Nate Sera have sacrificed themselves beyond the veil of our universe in an attempt to protect both Jesca and mankind. Their sacrifice was noble, but not enough to stop the global invasion and apocalyptical evolution in our world.  The fate of those Jesca loves and mankind is dismal unless she and the Dobrian guardians can find a way to get Ezra and Nate back and seal the ethereal veil between our universe and those that lie beyond it.

Among the illusions a legacy will be unmasked.

To her surprise, Jesca’s ascension beyond the veil unmasks an ancient legacy that is much older and runs much deeper than the Dobrian fellowship. An empyrean inheritance seeded among mankind long ago that courses through the veins of the Onoch family and Jesca Gershon Kahn.

*The Piercing the Fold series is intended for Mature Young Adult and Adult readers due to the the paranormal and unorthodox scientific  concepts addressed throughout.  This series contains a rich mixture of the paranormal, science fiction, romance, adventure, and suspense. *

Folding the Surface of the Veil - Let Your Mind Twist Pierce this Series!

The infant/toddler phase came in Piercing The Fold (The Piercing the Fold Series) and the characters and story came into the literary world kicking and screaming to be noticed, and it was, this story had classic style and a beautiful tale needing to be told. Onward we moved to the school years with Surfacing the Rim (The Piercing the Fold Series) and the series plowed forward, strutting through the stratosphere, strong and making a parent proud to support it through the thick and the thin of it all.
Now, Author Venessa Kimball gives us the young adult years with Ascending the Veil,
available today, November 5, 2013.

I wanted to dive into this book for so long that once I had my advanced reader copy in hand, I sat shocked for a few days before I opened it. Could it live up to everything I expected, wanted, hoped for, and dreamed of... could it? For those of you who are not aware of what an advanced reader copy (ARC) is, it is often an unedited or not fully polished edition of the book sent out to a select group for advance reviews and reader feedback. I personally have a large library of this style of book, and I have had some that are truly a nightmare and some that are fabulous. When reading these, you have to look beyond the editorial and formatting issues, especially now in the digital age... and focus 100% on the story. As I told my dear friend Venessa Kimball, that is not easy for me, but I did it.
Ascending the Veil, literally picks up where we left off at the end of Surfacing the Rim, the cataclysmic event has occurred and now the Sondian Fellowship and Dobrian Fellowship both must pursue their after event missions, depending on where the chips fell after the intersection. Chaos has come to our world and the Jesca and her friends and family are smack dab in the middle of it, and honestly expected to help solve the problem. Are they up to that challenge? This question has been posed from the beginning, are these characters capable to support this story line that Kimball has worked so hard to craft? The answer is yes. The characters are a rich and diverse cast that have only grown through the series development phases. Kimball never leaves a character left stranded in a plot hole or forgets that they have a role to play, no matter how minute that role may be within the grand scheme of her universes.
The story is a good extension of the first two books and takes us into the heart of the cataclysmic event, but... and there is one this time, the beginning felt a but muddied by indecisive moments with two of the main cast, Jesca and Xander, and I fear the overall tale came off a bit rushed, potentially forced. For me, it is one of the crucial pitfalls of sequels... there will be times when the story loses the flow and the power it originally held for the reader. I loved the majority of the story, the action became so intense I was truly on the edge of my seat waiting to see what would happen, there were some great twists and turns as well, but some areas just fell a little flat.
I have a curse, I am known for wanting more, and that is the pure issue here, I wanted more... more conflicts before the journey, more emotional charge between specific characters, just more and more and more. History is a huge part of writing for me and when I am reading if an author presents history or the back story, I am intrigued and want to know as much as I can about the facts. Thus, I was disappointed that when Kimball started sharing what is a huge detail in the back story of multiple characters within the story, it seemed unfinished and almost uninteresting... you guessed it, I wanted more!
Do not get me wrong, Ascending the Veil is a great addition to the Piercing the Fold series and a must read if you have become invested in this tale of wonder and wisdom, in fact we here at The Library at the END of the Universe happily award it with: 4 Cog Hearts

Let me start by saying that since I picked up the first book in this series, Piercing the Fold, I have been a fan. The storyline and the characters speak to me and I have eagerly been waiting for this book since I finished the second book in the series, Surfacing the Rim, shortly after its release. At times it seemed as though the time dragged by while I waited to discover the fate of Ezra and Nate and find out how the world was faring after the collision of our galaxy with the Andromeda Galaxy.
After reading Ascending the Veil, I can honestly say the wait was worth it. Kimball does a terrific job of bringing the story to vivid life as Ezra and Nate are caught beyond the veil separating our reality from another and Jesca must assemble a team to attempt to retrieve them.
The tension in the story is exquisitely developed, building at a steady pace throughout the book. Jesca’s situation with Nate and Xander becomes even more complicated and she realizes the time is close at hand when she will have to choose one of the men and leave the other broken-hearted and devastated.
The characters undergo even more changes as the world continues to change and as they venture beyond the veil in an attempt to recover Nate and Ezra. Bits and pieces of the chaos in the outer world are portrayed through clips of computer files that Jesca sees at different points and a prophetic vision of Jesca’s may spell their eventual triumph or defeat.
Kimball’s development of this story was masterful. She revealed with a light hand what was happening, never giving away too much at one time and kept me up late finishing the book. It was so engrossing I read it through in one night. I highly recommend this book to new adults, young adults, science fiction fans and even fans of dystopian fiction. I think it is well worth the read.

I was given an ARC copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
Honestly I am beyond words! The story picks back up without missing a beat with the same intensity of storytelling that I have grown so fond of.
Things have gone wrong and Jeca and Xander are now at a faculty in order to regroup so they can plan their next move. Meanwhile, Ezra and Nate are trapped in another Dimension and soon find out that they may not be alone. However, there is much more at stake than just the rescue, they must implement a plan to stop the panic that is spreading around the world, problem is just how many will survive the change……
Okay, this book left me breathless and excited as my heart raced while the story climaxed to unbelievable heights!!!! I cannot wait for book four in this series which I can only describe as the final battle between good and evil….

I was gifted a an E-ARC of this book by the author in exchange for an honest review.

Book three takes right off where book two ended, which is great for me because I love when you don't lose time between books... Jesca and Xander are trying to figure out what to do next... Jesca figures out how to take charge and really shine in this book... She stands on her own two feet and with assistance of her deceased mother, she makes a lot of high tempo decisions!! The author only gives you enough information to get to the next page, forcing you to wonder what is going to happen next. The details are given to you on an as needed basis which I LOVED because you weren't able to guess exactly where this book was going to take you! I so loved getting to read these books and look forward to being able to read more from this author!!

I give this book 5 out of 5 shields!!

This is my favorite as of yet, because of all the conflicting emotions it evoked in me. Jesca's been pretty good at keeping me interested in her, as the other POVs kept the story moving with a broader perspective. I'm still a bit peeved at her for the indecision she has on the thing that I can't say, but hopefully there's a happy ending to it.

Ascend was more nostalgic than the last two books, and i shed a few tears in some parts. :( Writing style is good, dialogues are pretty good. Overall an entertaining read that I recommend.

Finishing the third book in this series and I am more hooked than I was before. This story is so consuming that I literally am looking for any time at all to read. The characters are so real that you feel their emotions. The story line is gripping and keeps you involved with every page. True characters of the heroes and villains are being reveled slowly thus keeping you absorbed into the story. With every page, Ezra and his band of heroes travel through dimensions to save our world and delight our minds. I received a free copy for my honest review.

Ascending the Veil is another great installment in the Piercing the Fold series. This book starts off right where Surfacing the Rim ended with Jesca, Xander and their friends having to deal with the world changing event that ended book 2 in the series. This book had great character development, especially for Jesca. With lots of action and some twists and turns to the story you be definitely be left wanting more. I cant wait to read more from Venessa Kimball and the next book in this series.

Jesca was supposed to seal the veil but Michael distracted them all and she failed. Instead, Ezra and Nate sacrificed themselves to save her and force Sam into the world beyond the veil. Nate knew that his link to Jesca would be the only way they could ever save Ezra. Jesca and the other guardians come up with a plan to rescue them and seal the veil on their way back.
It is at this point that Jesca starts to realize how much she is hurting both Nate and Xander in her indecision between them so she decides to not choose at all. We also manage to find out what Michael’s end game truly is. The aliens of the world they have travelled to, are the ones that have possessing humans and no good can come of this. Jesca is her usual headstrong self, never thinking of the consequences of her actions. This is becoming tiresome rather than endearing. She should have learned something about herself and the effects of her choices by now but she hasn’t. I wish there were more time spent on the development of her character rather than just playing out events.
The suspense starts to drop off as well as this novel progresses as the plot elements start to wrap up a little too early given there is another novel to read. This novel starts feeling a little long. However, if you have read the first two, you will want to read this one as well.

This book is where the off world action truly begins and is where choices are made and lives are now even more at risk and Jesca has some tough decisions to make. The fight between the Dobrians and Sondians is heating up. Universes are at play and all are at risk while Jesca and the Guardians are determined to let nothing get in their way. Vanessa has ramped up the action, sexual tension and Jesca's struggle to align her teenage self with the much more 'adult' self with the weight of the world and those she loves literally as a weight on her shoulders.
This series continues to get better and better and you certainly need to have read the previous two in order to understand where the plot is going. This one is certainly my favourite so far and is in my opinion much more about the characters involved rather than the 'plot' I guess. Once again some readers may find the language inappropriate and as i said the sexual tension continues to rise so readers please be aware.
I am hooked with this series and can't wait to jump right to the final book...I can only hope Vanessa completes the series with Legacy so the readers are satisfied with the ending........

I received a copy from the author in exchange for an honest review.

Well I said the last book started by hitting the ground running and so does this one. As the story progresses so to does the quality of the writing style and content, the books get better and better.

The love triangle has become a bit more complex, especially after the ending in book 2, Descend. I love both Nate and Xander's characters and want Jesca to make the right decision but it is not such an easy decision. Jesca is maturing well and has settled into her role as a guardian but she is so very impulsive, you see her doing things which make you want to scream at her but reading on it feels like certain things had come to pass for a reason. Will Jesca and the other guardians be able to save Ezra and Nate. This is nail biting stuff.

I could totally visualise all the scenes in this book so i was with the characters during good and bad times and I even flinched when the needles came out.

Again I would recommend this book for the 18+ reader due to some swearing.

Remember to read these books in order folks, Origin, Descend, Ascend and Legacy.

You will need to read Origin ( book 1) to fully appreciate the story line of this series.
Jesca,  after training camp, has been sent to Miami,  to assist against the Sondian attempt to join the Andromeda galaxy to earth,  by the use of wormholes.
She has three men in league with her in this fight against evil: her biological father, her linked fighter partner and her bonded partner. This makes life emotionally difficult for an innocent,  that she is, for each of them love her and need to protect her above their own safety.
This is a story of human nature,  the manipulation of people to obtain power and those that will always stand up for the survival of the human race, even if it costs their own lives. The story is intense and dramatic.  The characters are vulnerable and courageous. The relationships are raw and emotionally charged as any real life relationship between three young adults can be.
I cannot wait to see where this story leads in book 3.
I have to advise that I was given a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

The best installment yet…
This third installment of the Copula Chronicles was my favorite to date, with the tension ratcheting up as the Guardian’s battle to save Earth takes a personal turn and Jesca and Xander must fight to save Nate and Ezra near certain death. While this book felt more character drive than its predecessors, I was so frustrated by Jesca’s stubbornness and susceptibility to the illusions that I wanted to shake her more than once. I had to remind myself that even with the weight of the world on her shoulders, she was still young when it felt like her reactions to kept defaulting to ‘I’ will save instead of ‘we’ will, and I was impatient for her to actually absorb that she was part of a team that was stronger when they worked together. I’m solidly sucked into this series now, and looking forward to diving into the finale.
Please note that I received a complimentary copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.

This Series Just Keeps Getting Better!
This is the third book in The Copula Chronicles series and it is very important that you read this series in order starting with book one Origin, going on to Descend, and then you will NEED this book. Over the course of the series so far we have seen Jesca grow and mature a fact that is glaringly evident in this installment, and the more I get to know her, the more I just adore her. Not to say that she doesn't make decisions at time that make me want to yell, but that's our girl. Once more we are taken on a journey loaded with action, adventure, our ever present and ever more difficult love triangle. If you're a nail biter, prepare for no nails! This is the best book in the series so far and you will want to jump right into the next and final book Legacy. I was given a complimentary advance readers copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Another winner of a story in my opinion. I can't get my mind to wrap around this story any quicker and I am at this point wishing I had some powers of my own. As this next book in the Piercing the Fold series plays out twisting and turning me inside out and completely upside down and left breathless I can only hope that Jesca can do what needs to be done to save Ezra and Nate. I hang on every word of this story compelling Jesca to pull through. This book is gut wrenching and leaves me biting my nails as my nerves kick in I am patiently awaiting the answer to all my questions. I will leave you here as I can not spoil the story for you. I will however leave you with this little tid bit to nibble on Ezra is Jesca's father. Now go get your self this series and find out what I'm not telling you and become part of Venessa Kimball's realm of reality.

Disclosure: This ebook was provided by the author in exchange for an HONEST and not necessarily positive review.

Ascending the Veil opens in the perfect place and continues to take us on a pretty fabulous journey.

Continuing to follow Jesca, we follow her through a range of highs and lows, and I was impressed with how the author pushes her character into realms I never expected.

The story is a little fast, to the point, especially toward the beginning when events seems to speed ahead, leaving me to catch my breath and catch my breath. The story does, however, soon find its natural and appropriate pace, which then allowed to appreciate the world Venessa Kimball has created.

A solid follow on to a original series.

The third book in the Copula Chronicles takes up where book two left off. Jesca and Xander must work together to find a way to get Ezra and Nate back after they saved her from Sam's clutches but got pulled into the wormhole themselves. They know that they are still alive but that is all they know. The two galaxies have come together and the Sondians have infiltrated the governments enough to discredit the Dobrians. Will they be able to ascend the veil in time to save Ezra and Nate from the evil that wants to take them all over or will they all loose and be unable to save themselves and their own world? The story concludes with book four of The Copula Chronicles: Legend. I'm looking forward to finding out how it all works out.

I received arcs of all 4 books in this series in exchange for a honest review. First of all i do not read scifi books. After reading the blurb for the first book,i knew i was interested in giving it a chance.
The story revolves around scientific research evolving and alien type beings from a different dimension, trying to demolish earth as we know it. More importantly the characters stand out and are the ones who made me want to keep reading. Basically the books remind me of a cross between quantum leap and the host, with a love triangle and a doting father. There are cliffhangers, but each book picks the story right up. Thank you Venessa Kimball for reaffirming my view of
scifi/ fantasy books. I will be posting this review for each book.

I read this entire series. I would recommend it. I would actually like to read more on the history or if possible the future of this story. I loved the way each book tied together and that before I started the series I was told right up front that all books are not necessarily Stand alone books. I truly hate cliff hangers but these weren't to bad. each booked did finish the part of the story but left me wanting to find out more. the last book tied it all up so I was not left sitting here thinking "but what next". and other than a few extra words that were not caught during editing, all 4 books are well written. I was given this series to read for an honest review and I will be c/p this review onto each book.

I would love to read more by this author!

Book three of the Copula series stars where book two left off. Jesca and Xander must work together to find and rescue Ezra and Nate, who have been transported through the wormholes to the Andromeda universe. With the Sondians having infiltrated Earth and baking life difficult for Jesca and her allies, the stakes have never been higher.

Overall, this is another strong novel by Ms. Kimball. My biggest complaint is one that I have with many novels: Jesca has the habit of going it alone even though she has a team with her to help. It is a problem a lot of novels have. Rather than show what a person can achieve with people, Jesca takes on everything herself.

NB: I received a copy of this from the author in exchange for an honest review.
