A closeted politician and his smoking hot campaign manager. Two traumatized best friends who need each other more than ever. A grieving widower and a compassionate funeral director. A pair of musicians who can’t keep their hands off each other.
Four couples from four different worlds, all faced with not only finding love and making it work, but coming out to friends, family, fans, and electorates who might not be as understanding as they’d hoped. Despite the odds and pushback, though, love like this won’t go down without a fight.
And these guys are more than willing to fight for the men they love.
This 340,000-word collection contains four full-length gay contemporary romance
For The Living From Out in the Cold Where There’s Smoke With the Band
All four titles have been previously published, and are available for sale individually.
L.A. Witt and her husband have been exiled from Spain and sent to live in Maine because rhymes are fun. She now divides her time between writing, assuring people she is aware that Maine is cold, wondering where to put her next tattoo, and trying to reason with a surly Maine coon. Rumor has it her arch nemesis, Lauren Gallagher, is also somewhere in the wilds of New England, which is why L.A. is also spending a portion of her time training a team of spec ops lobsters.
Authors Ann Gallagher and Lori A. Witt have been asked to assist in lobster training, but they "have books to write" and "need to focus on our careers" and "don't you think this rivalry has gotten a little out of hand?" They're probably just helping Lauren raise her army of squirrels trained to ride moose into battle.
This anthology of four full length novels was a delight. Four different stories with tons of hot sex and all with happy endings. I couldn't have asked for more.
The book opens with Jay once again trying to gather up the courage to tell his wife he’s gay. However, she unexpectedly dies in a traffic accident. The first person he comes out to ends up being the funeral director, Scott. I would have liked to know about the messages left by his in-laws on his phone after he inadvertently blurted out he was gay, and this is not written. I love his sister Breanna - when he speaks to her about being gay & about Scott - she's just great!
2- From Out in the Cold
It seems a bit like a dark story, with both men being old childhood friends who are both dealing with PTSD. However, everything falls slowly into place as their feelings are slowly sorted out, and as they deal with their respective families who are both against the fact that they are gay. It was short, to the point, but quite poignant.
Well worth reading!
3- Where There’s Smoke
Anthony ends up being the campaign manager for Jesse, who is a new & unproven politician. Anthony has to help the public see Jesse’s image as someone who is a happily married man with a great wife, who will be able to do the job, without letting his feelings of attraction towards Jesse possibly ruin his career.
Jesse didn’t like the idea of passing himself off as a happily married, every day politician, but this was supposed to get him more votes. However, his marriage isn’t a real one anymore, & he has to resist any impulses he has towards Anthony, as any hint of a scandal will cost him the election.
That first kiss... Wow...
<3 Ranya, too... She’s hilarious. She described Anthony & Jesse by saying, “... you and Anthony seriously go together. You two click. From where I’m standing, you boys go together like texting and car crashes.” *laughing*
4- With the Band
Just One More Kiss - about stage diving into love...
Aaron has an opportunity to join his brother & sister’s band (because his own broke up after a problem with him dating another band member). He thinks the band should be a great fit for him, despite how he’s had a crush on one of the band members for a long time. However, this isn’t the problem - it’s Bastian, the brother of his brush, and he’s straight - or so he thinks. The only negative, I would have liked to read about how the main character spoke to his parents about being gay, as well as if the fans ever found out about their relationship. Knowing that Bastian’s ex got what she deserved would have been nice, too.
For The Living, From Out in the Cold, Where There's Smoke, and With The Band - 4 different yet entirely engaging love stories from an author who is a 'must follow' if you read M/M romance. This author can write! Emotional, hopeful, lots of fun.
Each and every story was romantic, erotic, tense and sensual in its own way. The characters took each story and blended around themselves until I couldn’t put the book down.
Phenomenal, fabulous, amazingly well written stories that have sweet, passionate, sexy, hot men, who struggle with coming out to their friends, family, coworkers, etc., and their internal dialogue while figuring out the best way to do so.
Turned out I had read 3 of the 4 novels in this collection but none of them had made enough of an impression for me to remember the names or plot outlines.
This is a wonderful compilation of 4 stories by L.A. Witt. I'd read 3 of them previously as stand alone stories so it was a walk down memory lane for me. And a very pleasurable one it was. The 4th story was new and the plot and characters took me by the throat and shook me hard.
I've posted reviews for each of the stories on Goodreads and Amazon. Please read each of these and enjoy!

started the first story about the dead girls hubby is gay....oh gracious sooooo boring. skipped the middle, barely read the two yrs later. not my bag and to thing all previously published individually. big ole DNF!!!!!!!!!!
This was an awesome collection of M/M stories...I have to say my favorite had to be the last one...With the band....Bastion and Aaron were soooo freaking hot!!!! Definitely a story that will stick with me!!!
I really loved these stories. I was a bit worried about the last as I am not a fan of band romance, but the characters pulled it off. Sweet romance with a lot of sex and story around it.
Great stores that deal with the challenges of coming out and finding love in surprising places. A little graphic for some people, but no more so than many straight books about adults. Not for teens.
