"THE EXTINCTION MACHINE" Chapter One

The oceans rise. The earth quakes. And an ancient power rises to reclaim not just the world, but the universe itself—and not even the combined might of the Justice League can stop it. Each member is in a different part of the world saving people from some natural disasters, that will most likely connect to the alien menaces..es. I gotta say by this point, it's getting pretty old. To serve as an introduction to our heroes and their powers it is still pretty bland.
The action and destruction in the Wonder Woman sections are noteworthy, though.
"Noteworthy.." Astounding! Is what I meant.
I'll look forward to reading more but this was just an intro.

OK ! NOW THAT'S MORE LIKE IT !

it's been a long long time that i felt so good about a Justice league comics and frankly i didn't expect it to be this good, i mean the whole New 52 Justice league sucked and the Justice League Rebirth one shot sucked severely as well , so i really really didn't expect Bryan Hitch (despite his previous successful stint with the Justice League ) to make this so Grand , so Epic , so Blockbuster-esque

I mean if they can continue this story in the similar vein as they did with this book than i say Make this story a Movie but than again it's just the first book but it felt like the good old days of Justice League , where it looked more like a kick ass team and not just a Power display by individuals in a team

The whole Zombie like Infestation however is getting a bit too cliched but oh well it's the first book of the saga and it looked good , hell it felt good . Just don't ruin it in the upcoming issues and pour cold water on my expectations

Much better than the Rebirth one-shot. The art was the thing that stood out to me the most in this first issue of Justice League, it looked good. There are some excellent full spread pages that really impressed me. There wasn't much here as far as writing, though. We just get a glimpse of the team and a very mysterious idea that our hero's superpowers are stolen, but other than that not a whole lot happens. The characters don't even interact with each other, only through long distance communication. It wasn't bad but there wasn't much there to judge it yet.

Way better than the previous one. Lot of action, good switching between characters, and a story with a catastrophe situation that look promising and since it's the first part of a mini-series, I really looking forward the next one!

3.5 stars for this solid introduction. I didn’t think I was going to care much about this comic but I was wrong. Plot was simple, but was different from what I typically have read. The Justice League is saving people from natural disasters oblivious to an alien attack. The artwork was also phenomenal.

action packed issue that keeps things moving at a frantic pace. You really must read this back to back with the other justice league volume to link up with the threat. I didn't think all that highly of the rebirth issue so I was a little lost but the issue did liven things up.

Justice League #1 starts off with a mass destruction, almost apocalyptic, event happening in the world and the existence of the so-called The Kindred who seems to control the people.

Quite a page turner; action packed and filled with mystery that will let you dig in to it more. Though it feels like it needs a bit more power in the story telling, I have high hopes for this story's future.

Primera vez leyendo comic de DC (si alguien tiene una recomendación de otro que debería leer o por el que debí haber empezado, acepto sugerencias) y me gustó, probablemente me perdí alguna referencia, pero la historia en sí es interesante.

This started with a BANG! I really enjoyed this issue. The Lanterns figuring out their partnership makes me really happy and everyone mobilizing around the world to combat the extinction level natural disaster was COOL! Can't wait to learn more about the mystery behind what's causing this.

The art in this issue looks much better than the art in the Rebirth one-shot. Tony S. Daniel is a far superior artist to whomever worked on that. Daniel isn't the best artist DC has, but he's very good. Almost everything he draws looks good (except for New 52 Penguin). One thing that really stood out was a large spread with a huge Flash in the center & little panels around the sides to show where Flash was running to. That & his Wonder Woman were the highlights of the issue. Daniel's art gets 4.5 stars.

In my review for the JL Rebirth one-shot, I said it seemed like writer Bryan Hitch ripped his story off from the Mass Effect video games. After reading this issue, I'm still inclined to think that. There are just too many similarities so far. I still keep expecting Commander Shepherd to pop up & join the Justice League. This issue is mostly action & has the JL members scattered across the globe so there is no real interaction between the members. I guess Hitch expects everyone to know who these characters are & the writers of their individual series to build the character's personalities because he has yet to showcase anything human from the members. So far, the parts of his story that weren't ripped off from Mass Effect have been punching bad guys & saving civilians from natural disasters. His writing has not impressed me at all & gets 2 stars.

The 2 separate aspects of the issue add up to 6.5 which I divided by 2 to get the overall issue rating of 3.25 stars. This is one of the worst, if not the worst, titles since Rebirth. This issue looked good, but had a recycled story & not much else.

This was okay. Very busy. Aside from Cyborg (and Wonder Woman's narration at the start) there really wasn't a lot of characters getting to show off their unique talents specific to the crisis. I guess Superman, though he was off-panel and we found what he did from third-parties, which is fine but it did not mesh at all with the rest of the events in the story. And in that vein, Cyborg's self-narration/connection of football in stopping a train (we never saw the reason WHY the train needed to be stopped. Were the tracks wrecked? Were there people trapped on the line and the brakes dysfunctional? We don't know. He shows up, talks himself into a football pep talk, and throws himself into a moving train, which totally wouldn't cause injuries to no one, nope) seemed out of place for the same reason. All the other characters had different kinds of scenes/genres/feelings surrounding their progress. It felt like ten different writers got together and made a quilt out of a battle scene. Batman getting close to the alien crash ship and NOT telling his team "oh, I have the source" because he needs to get close to it first just to be sure.

Alright. Well, in the process of writing this review I went from three to two stars. I feel like Hitch has done better work, not only with massive team stories, but with the Justice League specifically. And I'm not sure what happened here. Crisis. Crisis is shown to be so awful. The worst kind of awful. Earth has never been this awful. And our heroes are disorganised and we should still believe they're credible and united. I don't buy it.

There are natural disasters happening all over the world & the Justice League are doing what they can to remedy the situation while saving as many lives as they can. Cyborg is leading the way giving out as much information as he can to the Justice League members.

After helping out in Beijing, Simon & Jessica head over to Hong Kong, but lose their powers as Simon was just about to prevent a tsunami from hitting the coast. At the same time they lose their powers, they see people with red eyes muttering nonsense. The same thing happens with The Flash... he loses his powers just as he was saving one of the red eye people.

Meanwhile, Batman & Aquaman have to save their cities from crumbling. While, my boo Superman was trying to be all over the place saving as many people as he can.

Wonder Woman did not seem to be doing much, but telling the enemies that who she is over & over. She is a tad bit annoying.

If all this disaster is going on, I would like to know how it relates to each members comics separately because it seems as though this issue is connected to the Simon's & Jessica's story with the red eye people.

Decent action scenes and liked the character interaction, but immediately jumping to 'end of the world! We're all gonna die!' felt rushed.
We knew from the one shot that there is a bad thing coming, but I was hoping we'd get five minutes of time to get a handle on the new team before the bad thing showed up.

The story was pretty blah, but the character moments save it.
The only complaint I have about Rebirth is that everyone seems to be rushing to get to big arc. No one seems to want to spend time on building the new status quo and building up to the big bad.

Am I glad this is not an origin story! I'm pretty sure we're tired of having origins rehashed every other year.

The in medias red opening works to the story's advantage. We are thrown into a conflict that the current danger out-shadows in a moment's notice and we see strange creatures making strange claims countering all the League members.

This book reads like half a book though, in that there's not much in it except the scenes of action. No background, no hook, nothing. I hope they address that in the next book.

This was better than the Rebirth special last week, but only marginally so. It did a much better job of connected the players to me and to each other, and that could carry this book a long way.

I'm not sure it's earned a place in my Pull List, though. we'll see.

Still Bland.

There's nothing special in this Justice League incarnation. Most of this issue is wasted on character introductions which we already got in the Rebirth Special. Plus it still features Baz the terrorist as a Green Lantern.

There is some kind of event causing natural disasters around the world. Member's of the league are in cities around the world trying to stop them. This is part one of a six part story. Part one doesn't give you much of a clue as to one is going on.

I thought the Justice League was a good title in the New 52 storyline, and think they are off to a great start via the Rebirth effort. I am sticking with them for awhile.

Merged review:

A good start to the Rebirth of the Justice League. Another global threat to mankind. And the new Superman is not fully on board yet. Still not sure about this Superman, from which world he came from. Just know that he is not the Superman from the New 52. Most of the ole gang is back, with a couple of new Green Lanterns thrown in as well. Batman and Wonder Woman are leading the way.
