Jake, the broody hero of "The Protector" was everything I expected him to be but I will need to read the entire tale to get exactly what his demons are. Camille was not a doormat and she gave as good as she got but her father who hired Jake has a hidden agenda in this story and it's not a good one! On to reading this engaging book to entirety!
3'5. Me encanta esta autora, pero este libro no me ha llegado como todos los demás. Eso no quiere decir que no me haya gustado, así que más bien son tres estrellas y media.
This was a modern day "The Bodyguard" book but with more of an alpha male lead and not as diva of a female lead.
Camille was very likable and easy to connect with. Jake was easy on the eyes with a mysterious background. I thought his secret was something else than it was. I was slightly surprised which pleased me. Although it was as bad as I imagined. I like that this was fast paced and didn't have any boring lulls in the unfolding of the story.
These two had good chemistry. It was well written. I was entertained and happy to have read it. If you liked this Authors, This Man series I think you will enjoy this one. It's not as high on the scale as This Man but still a good read.
Where to start? I can honestly say that I am disappointed in this stand alone by JEM. I have read her previous books and there were hot and steamy. This book was not there for me. I loved Jake and Camille but something was missing. I think it was the JEM steamy sex and banter between the characters that was missing. The story was good. I did not like Camille' father at all. The ending with her kidnappers was a little weird to me. Something was just off about this book. I am used to JEM writing about steamy sex and the characters all over each other and can't wait to get back in the arms of the one they love. I did not get that in this book. The scene where he takes her to his house in the country was really weird to me. Like I said something was really missing. In her previous books I was on edge because of the suspense and love but I did not get it in this book. I will not read it again. Not like I did her other books. Jake will not take the place of Miller and Jesse ever. JEM I love your writing. Please give us more Miller Hart the Special One and Jesse Lord of the Manor.
This book was a great read, i could not put it down. Jake is bit of a messed up individual when we meet him, and that is understandable but as the story develops we see more underneath the surface about this attractive and enigmatic man. Camille is such a great female character she is one thing to everyone but she strives to show people a new side to herself and the true Camille which Jake likes a lot. There is sizzling sexual tension and plenty of twists and urns that kept me on the edge of my seat. The only reason i did not give this book 5 stars is the connection between the characters was not as great as in her other books which i love. But then i understand that the connection between Jake and Camille had to grow through a certain level of animosity between the characters.Overall another fantastic book by Jodi and i adored reading it and will be reading it again many times in the future.
Jodi's books keep getting better and better. I absolutely loved This Man trilogy, and the One Night trilogy and this one is on its way of being another favorite. I can't wait for the complete book in September. I have recommended jodi's books to anyone I know that enjoys reading and I will continue to do so.
I am a true fan of Jodi Ellen Malpas' writing and can't wait to read the remainder of this book. Jake already has my heart feeling sympathetic. I love how the men in her books has this very vulnerable past that makes them into the love able men they are throughout the story.
7 chapters that's all it took....Jake is everything I've been craving in a new bf and then Camille and her sassy, witty personality. Let's just say I can't wait to read their story.
I am anxiously awaiting the arrival often sole book on the 6th so glad I pre-ordered .I have read the first seven chapters and they did not disappoint I am looking forward to seeing how Jake and Camille merge thru the rest of the book.
Jodi has done it again by bringing to life another alpha male to love in Jake Sharp. I wish it wasn't a standalone because I'm sure more could be told.
