Mistaken for the IT geek? CEO, Zac Cosgrove, goes undercover and travels to Paris to assess a failing branch of Haute Heels. But will manager-on-a-mission, Rachel Parker, be able to resist an office affair that could reveal more about her decadent, sensual desires than simply trying to save her job? This erotic short story combines business with pleasure, and weaves Paris, shoes, and a forbidden workplace romance into a sensual, contemporary tale.
Michele Hauf, an author of over 100 stories in the fantasy, action/adventure, historical and paranormal romance genres now writes contemporary romance as Michele Renae.
Rachel Parker, whose job is in marketing, is in Paris and because of problems in the local branch of Haute Heels is now acting as manager. The computer systems are in dire needs of upgrades, but it seems a certain Zac will be taking care of that. Zac is not at all the type of guy who usually gets her hot, but there is a certain je ne sais quoi to the nerd, oops! sorry, Zac the geek! However, Zac is more than the IT person; he is in fact the CEO and he is incognito to see what ails the Paris branch of Haute Heels. He only looks like the proverbial geek because his baggage got lost and he has to make do with his spare glasses and some cheap clothes. Zac is more than intrigued by Rachel, who seems to be coming on to him.
THE GEEK GETS THE GIRL is a delicious case of partially mistaken identity, and it is positively gorgeously written. Who could resist delights such as “office ephemera”! Ms. Hauf’s writing is so eloquent, I could easily picture Parisian flair, French chic and I could clearly see Zac and Rachel. There was a lot of chemistry between Zac and Rachel, and I loved them both so much. They feel real, they are so engaging, and Rachel is a take-charge kind of woman for real, and Zac is just wonderful, and such a welcome change from all those controlling, dominant, domineering leads that are just about everywhere. THE GEEK GETS THE GIRL is such a refreshing book; such great characters are rare, their behaviour remains consistent throughout, every situation is perfectly handled; THE GEEK GETS THE GIRL is a most excellent book, don’t miss it!

Managing Director Rachel thinks that CEO Zac Cosgrove is the IT geek. When she finds out he is the corporate bigwig sent to evaluate her and the Paris office she has to set her feelings aside to complete the job she was hired to do.
I liked these two. Zac decides to play the IT geek so that he can see what is happening in the Paris office. He realizes that the problems they are experiencing are not one-sided, that corporate has let them down. He also knows that he will mess up what he has with Rachel if he does not come clean before she finds out he is the CEO. Rachel is strong but reasonable. She knows what has to be done for their clients and knows she has to bend the rules to win the clients. When she finds out who Zac is, she does well not to lay into him. She does put up walls but Zac can climb them.
The story was realistic and believable. I liked that there were few secondary characters. The story is Zac and Rachel. The character development is good. I knew what each one thought and felt. I look forward to more stories by Ms. Hauf.
I thought this was good. I really enjoyed the story line of a CEO as an IT geek. I like reading about strong and confident women. I was given a copy of this book for an honest review.
