It's Bailey's 24th birthday and she's excited to be getting a new tattoo from her brother - owner of Bayou Ink. Dallas, the shop's new tattoo artist, happens to be finishing his last client as Bailey arrives, and in a split second their lives are changed forever. A glance, a simple touch, sparks the beginning of an intense relationship which is as fast as it is steamy. Happy in her life and surrounded by a tight-knit and very protective group of family and friends, Bailey has steered clear of guys, following a harrowing experience a few years earlier and is stunned by the force of her feelings towards Dallas. At the same time, Dallas is floored by the depth of his physical and emotional response to a woman he has just met.
Although the story focuses on the passion these two share, it is also about trust, self-esteem, loyalty, friendship, courage and the determination not to let your past define your future. Physical attraction to Dallas aside, Bailey is still vulnerable and, occasionally allows her insecurities to muddy the waters, but Dallas isn't messing about, he knows what he wants and isn't about to let Bailey's fears de-rail the love he knows is theirs for the taking.
A fast-paced book with a few unexpected turns, finishing in a minor cliff-hanger, but in a good way. A great debut novel, I look forward to reading the rest of the series.
