Pyper Rayne #3

Spirits, Beignets, and a Bayou Biker Gang

Rate this book
Medium Pyper Rayne and her witch boyfriend Julius are on an impromptu getaway in southern Louisiana. The quaint bayou town has everything: a Victorian inn, a famous brew pub, the best beignets this side of the Mississippi. Oh and an infamous bayou biker gang.

When a ghost rider suddenly appears with clues to an unsolved kidnapping, Pyper and Julius find themselves smack in the middle of a crime ring. Only not everyone is who they seem. They’ll need to untangle the web of secrets and figure out who to trust before they risk everything… including their own lives.

Pyper and her former-ghost boyfriend set out to find a missing (possibly dead) girl. They find that they must do battle with ill-spirited bikers in order to find her.

Cutely written, YA book. Lots of ghosts and supernatural powers. Interesting characters. Plenty of sexual innuendo. While a bit slow for my tastes, the story is engaging.

Wow! This was my favorite in this series. And things we find out from Jade were squeal worthy! Ida May showed up, lassoing alligators. I laughed so hard I cried. If you like fur babies, there's a feisty puppy. I'm telling too much. Words can't express how wonderful this book was. It was packed so full of stuff. This review is for both the ebook and the audio, I switched back and forth from one to the other. The narrator is so amazing. I love to hear her. I can't wait for the next book. I hope we see more of Ms Kitty. She was a hoot! There were quite a few more characters we were introduced to that I would love to hear more about. I especially liked the swamp scenes. I love swamps.

Pyper and Julius are back in this latest installment of the Pyper Rayne series, and I am happy to say this one was the best yet. Pyper and Julius are on a trip, and Pyper can't do anything without encountering a mystery. This time she has to rescue someone who has been missing for five years. Along the way, she meets new people and new enemies. While I love the characters we have so far, I have to say Miss Kitty was a hoot and I hope she somehow sticks around! The book was fun, well-written, and had excellent action, and don't forget the characters who make the book (Miss Kitty, I'm looking at you.). Even if you haven't read the series, you can start with this one as Ms. Chase does a great job of keeping the reader up-to-date, but I would get them all as they are all terrific. Do yourself a favor and get this book. It is wonderful! Highly recommend! Thanks to the author for the e-copy which I voluntarily reviewed.

Audio book review
Book 3 in the series.
This story continues where book 2 left off

Medium Pyper Rayne and her witch boyfriend Julius are on his motorcycle for a getaway. They are heading to southern Louisiana . They are heading to the bayou, at a stop sign they see a ghost biker and he tells them about a female that has disappeared, the authorities think he did it so they did away with him . Piper wants to help , meanwhile Julius is thirsty so they stop at a shop , while inside they see an old lady , weird things happen in side , even weirder they see the the old shop owner clipping the nails from a crocodile. She tells them they will need them . Even weirder things happen to them once they reach the inn where they are staying. Little by little things fall into place for Piper and Julius, grab it and see if they solve the murder.

The third installment of the Pyper series is by far my favorite!!
This series continues to get better and better!!

Julius and Pyper go on a weekend trip and trouble just seems to continue to find them. I was hooked from the beginning and I just love Ida May. She is a hoot and I absolutely love her antics. Pyper seems to have finally found herself in this book. I love who she is and how she cares for her little “family”. Some discoveries were made in this book and if you love Pyper, trust me you will want to find out what they are!!
I listened to the audiobook narrated by Gabra and as always she does a fabulous job bringing the book to life for me.

All in all, this is my favorite in this series so far. The humor has amped up even more which made the entire book entertaining. There still is a lot of time devoted to love, friends, and witchcraft. My one complaint is her composition of the spells that the witches cast. There is a lot of rhyming, but isn’t very elaborate or elegant, which would add to the mystery and charm. The mystery does take more of a central role, and her storytelling in a mystery sense is greatly improving. And the twist with Beau gave the book a Witches of Keating Hollow warm and fuzzy feel. Happy to be over the hump in the series and can’t wait to finish the final two books!

I forgot how much I absolutely adore this series. As well as Jade's. I love when a book can pull tears, giggles, shocked expressions and anger. I love the love story, which isn't overly mushy or cheesy. Nothing wrong with that, I can even stomach that when done right. The twists I didn't see coming. And this had all my favorite tropes! That said, my TBR is ugly big and I want to get a chunk read before winter when I hibernate read. So I will be continuing with both Piper's and Jade's series when I get a few off my TBR. I recommend anyone read this who like supernatural elements, a love story (lite), New Orleans and all things magic. These are fun pallet cleansing books.

Every one needs family

Let me say first, Deanna Chase is one of my favorite authors and I read this ebook on kindle unlimited and received the audible book as a promo.... that housekeeping out of the way...

I love this book... I am so invested in these characters, they seem like old friends... Pyper the medium, Julius the former ghost, ida May the actual ghost & crew have a great adventure and Pyper gains more family... now Jade is “preggers” as my kids say and it ends with a ring....

Weekend Away Gone A Wry

A weekend getaway turns into a search for a missing woman. The news reported her dead, but a ghost says otherwise. Pyper and Julius just happened to stop in a small Bayou town filled with magical beings. The search is on, but Pyper finds a lot more mysterious goings on than just a missing woman. This was a great story. And I loved the role Ida Mae plays in it. Pyper's ghost friend is a hoot.

Trouble in the bayou

Piper and Julius travel to a quiet little bayou town to get away and have some quiet time together. Upon arrival they walk into a shop and are met by a witch who has a message for them, to help find a missing girl and to follow Sterling a biker ghost. They soon find out that asking questions in a small town can make trouble that they may not be able to get out of. Pyper discovers she has more power than she ever thought.

I felt like this book was a little slower paced than the rest of the recent books in the Jade/Piper series with only a couple of action scenes in it too. But it in no way detracts from the book or storyline. The addition of some really great characters and the absolute delight of Ida Mae's part in this book makes this one of my favorite books in the series. I hope the new characters get to stick around to entertain us in future books!

Witches Galore

As usual Deanna Chase never fails to please. In this book, Pyper and Julius take off on a short holiday to relax. Well, that wasn't going to happen. They were drawn into a plot involving murder, ghosts and more witches than you could poke a stick at. Pyper finds she has more power than she ever dreamed and also finds something more precious to her than gold.

Long story with a quick resolve

This story should've been a few chapters shorter.
The plot went on and on and then when it's all exposed it was done in a blink of an eye.
I find Pyper better as a side character than main character, her story is just not catching me.
I'm gonna switch back to Jade's story and just fill in the gaps of Paper story.

Pyper finds skills she didn’t know she had and makes new friends when she and Julius attempt to find a missing girl in the bayou. Jade and Kane make an appearance but this is definitely Pyper’s show. As always, the characters are quirky and well written.

Good

Pypers life just keeps getting more and more interesting. First Julius and Ida May, along with becoming a medium. Followed by more ghosts and freeing them. Now, well no spoilers

What a fun read

So many things that aren't as they seem and quite a few surprises in store for Pyper. This is not turning out to be the romantic trip they had planned, but there's no shortage of action.

The best Pyper book yet!

Pyper & Julius go on a romantic vacation in the bayou, only to soon discover ghosts, mystery, & danger. It's a very exciting page-turner.
