It gets worse before it gets better.
Sam left her. It wasn’t really Jason’s decision, so he went along with it at the time, but he’s regretted it ever since. Now they have to deal with the consequences. Samantha is back, but nothing is the same and it looks like it may never be, again.
Carly, Sam’s demonic ex-girlfriend, has put him under a spell that’s likely to kill both Sam and Samantha, if they aren’t careful. If they do manage to survive, they still have Carly’s self-absorbed boss to deal with, plus a horde of zombies that Samantha says aren't zombies at all. Samantha may be a shaman with a knack for knowing the right things at the right times, but even she may not be able to get them out of this unscathed.

It's six months since Sam rescinded the bond with Samantha, leaving her crying and more alone than ever. When Samantha realises that Sam's girlfriend is, in fact, a demon with extremely unpleasant habits, she tracks down Sam, releases him from the demon's clutches and goes back on the road with the brothers, hunting ghosts, wraiths and more demons. But when she introduces them to her former life in New York City, they discover that Sam's ex has marked him, and it's terminal.

This book is dark, brutal at times, but still optimistic where it matters - love, friendship, faith - making it a satisfying and intense read.

As with other books by Chloe, the writing is fast, modern and true-to-life. The world-building revolves around the angel / demon tensions and the magic system, which is mage-based and easy to follow. The real world setting makes it easy to engage with and increases the dramatic effect. A great book.

My goodness . If I thought the first book was good, the second is phenomenal. Sam, Samantha and Jason go through hell and back, literally on this one . I won’t give any spoilers but I think a few quotes will be ok.
Jason is a manic driver. What’s 5 hours for normal people is nothing to him.
“ Faith is belief without proof “ . I thought this was quite relevant to the whole book. The characters had to have faith in each other and as such it all works despite the sometimes apparent chaos.
Sam and Samantha have a bonded connection which is truly amazing. They feel each other’s pain and Jason is also connected to his twin. Full of demons, physic and magic.
So much of the story grabs you and doesn’t let you go until the last page.

But you still want more. There’s always the next book.
So worth the long read. Another outstanding piece of writing.

great 2nd book

I love Sam, Jason, and Samantha. This story has so much adventure and mystery and the three work so well together. I really enjoy the character development and world building.

I didn't like this book as much as I liked the first one. The relationships between the main characters are getting stranger and more and more confusing.

I love scary books and movies. I also love supernatural thrillers. This book is a great 2nd book in the series and this book is full of more fun and adventure. I can't wait to read the next book and find out what else Sam and Sam will get us into. * I received this book from the author in exchange for an honest review*
