Kathi lives with her husband, kids, grandkids, and dogs in beautiful Lake Tahoe. When she isn't writing, Kathi likes to read (preferably at the beach or by the fire), cook (preferably something with chocolate or cheese,) and garden (planting and planning not weeding). She also enjoys spending time on the water when she's not hiking, biking, or snowshoeing, the miles of desolate trails surrounding her home. Kathi uses the mountain setting in which she lives, along with the animals (wild and domestic) that share her home, as inspiration for her cozy mysteries.

Cozy Author Kathi Daley takes readers on a haunted Halloween weekend on a spooky private island with a castle like Dracula's, Goth people, coffins, dead bodies (or, are they?), and a bizarre wedding (to be, or not to be?). Lani Pope, her boyfriend, Luke Austin, and her roommates, Cameron and Kekoa find themselves about to be scared stiff as they fumble through the maze of horrors and try to find a way to escape the island.
I really like the setting of this one ! A goth wedding on Halloween night in a secluded island ! Where can I sign up ? I just found that the characters reactions when they found the body was weird... like it was no big deal or anything.
A Page Turner Murder at the Witching Hour is the third book in Kathi Daley’s Sand and Sea Hawaiian Mystery series and is an awesome read. I love Ms. Daley’s writing style and she has once again succeeded in writing a wonderfully crafted whodunit that kept my interest throughout the entire story. This is a well-plotted mystery with a cast of well-developed, realistic, and likeable characters. The story has enough twists, turns, and suspects to keep the reader involved. I highly recommend this fast-paced book for all readers who enjoy a good mystery.
Tisha (a/k/a Morticia) is an old high school friend and has invited Lani and Kekoa to attend her Halloween night wedding on her fiancé, Ivan’s, private island. Lani and Kekoa invited Luke and Cam to be their plus-ones for the four-day wedding event. The island is beautiful and the castle Ivan built is huge. Ivan is a big Dracula fan and the bride-to-be and many of the guests dress in a gothic theme, including piercings and tattoos. Lani’s intuition tells her something is amiss and she starts writing down her thoughts just in case something happens. Guests start disappearing, a storm hits the island, the power goes on and off, cell and satellite phones don’t work, and there is no way off the island and then, a dead body is discovered only to disappear the next day. Lani and Luke are determined to find out what is happening and, along with several others, desperately look for a way off the island.

Morticia (a/k/a Tisha) and her fiancé, Ivan have invited Lani and Kekoa to attend her Halloween night wedding on Ivan’s, private island. Lani and Kekoa invited Luke and Cameron to be their plus-ones for the specular four-day wedding event. Before the wedding starts a storm hits the island, the power goes on and off, cell and satellite phones don’t work, guests start disappearing, and there is no way off the island. and then, a dead body is found. Well-developed characters and a superbly crafted, action packed, dark plot makes this a Halloween cozy mystery that you don’t want to miss. All of the features of the perfect cozy mystery are included: light humor, a flourishing sweet romance, a murderous plot to untangle and interwoven subplots adding to the challenges presented. Ms. Daley deftly continues to develop the characters as the series grows. Each book can be read as a standalone although readers will enjoy the series more if the books are read in order. I highly recommend this fast-paced book for all readers who enjoy a superbly crafted Halloween cozy mystery.
Full Disclosure: I received a complimentary copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. I was not required to write a positive review. The opinions I have expressed in this review are my own.
Lani, boyfriend Luke, roommates Kekoa and Cameron are invited to attend the wedding of their eccentric friend Tisha on the private Hawaiian of the bridegroom. Their arrival leads them into a bizarre group of people working at being Goths and vampires. As the wedding nears Tisha's sister is certain that something more is going on. This is new entry in this series will suck you into the suspense and mystery and keep you turning the pages to the unexpected end. The characters and setting in Hawaii mixed with a complex mystery are pure entertainment. An adventure that any cozy mystery reader will love.
I received this book from the author. This is my honest opinion and fair review.
Who doesn't love a great Halloween mystery??? This book was boooootifully written. Once you started reading you can't stop. Such a great gothic wedding destination on an island with a castle made to look like Dracula's castle. Each of the characters in this series are totally tubular:) Old surfer term. Lani and Luke are invited to this wedding and from the start Lani is picking up some weird vibes. Then people begin to drop like flies! You would think being on an island in the middle of nowhere you could find the killer or killers before they find you. Must read series if you haven't picked it up. Fun, adventurous characters await you on every page.
This was appropriately creepy for the Halloween season. Lani and her cousin are invited to an old school friend's wedding to be held on Halloween on her future husband's private island. Though a little surprised at this sudden unexplained invitation, they accept and bring along Luke and Cam as their guests. On the ship across, they also meet the groom's estranged brother, as well as the bride's estranged sister. With the island full of servants dressed as Halloween characters, and the groom's guests in full Goth garb, it all lends an eerie feel to the affair. And when her cousin and Cam disappear, and a dead body is found, they know that this mystery may be deadly. Another enjoyable story from Ms. Daley with fun clues and creepy characters, keeping the reader guessing til the end. My only complaint is that the story went along at a nice pace, but then wrapped up in a nanosecond without further fanfare. But all in all, a fun Halloween cozy mystery read.
Lani and Luke along with Lani's cousin, Kekoa, and best friend, Cam, are invited to the wedding of one of their friend's from high school who now goes by the name, Morticia. The wedding is a four day event on the groom's, Ivan, private island off Hawaii. Things get creepy and out of control upon their arrival as Ivan and his closest friends are all dressed and acting like creatures of the dark and no one can get close to the bride. When Morticia's sister gets with Lani and Luke, they discover a dark past with regards to Ivan. There is no cell service at the castle where Ivan lives nor can Luke get service with his satellite phone. There's more than one mystery to solve and lives may depend on Lani and Luke solving them.
This was an intriguing read with well-rounded characters. It hooks you from the beginning and keeps hold of you until the end.
Lani, Luke, Kekane and Cam go to a private island for a wedding and find themselves involved with a serial killer and his minions. It takes them a while to figure it out when they have no phone service and Internet, but in a brief power outage a text manages to reach Lani's brother and HPD shows up to save the day. A very interesting story with a Halloween setting. Kathi Daley's Halloween stories are always well done.
A fun book! Very kooky and intriguing. Lani's friend Tisha is getting married and it seems the groom may be a serial killer. The gang is stranded on a private island for the wedding and it's unclear who can be trusted. Can Lani and her friends save themselves and Tisha from being the next victims?
This is the first book in the series I have read. I will be reading more of it. Kailani and her friends are invited to a wedding, and a murder occurs. I like the plot and pace of this story. There are mysterious things that happen which makes it harder for Kailani to know which clues are the ones to follow.
Weird story with lots of gothic characters and symbolism. Definitely a weird venue for a wedding that thankfully didn't happen. Not one of my favorite Kathi Daley books. Hoping the other books in this series live up to the many other Kathi Daley books I have read
Awesome author. This tale leaves everyone stranded on an island near Hawaii. Dark goth characters bring murder and mayhem to unsuspecting wedding guests. And there's no escape
This is another great story by Kathi Daley. I am never disappointed with one of her books. Wedding. Private island. Halloween. Tropical storm. Murder. A great set up for a captivating read. I loved this book and highly recommend it!
I read one of the later books and really liked it so I started from the beginning. Book three is different from the others as the location is different but just as good. You won't be disappointed .
Around Halloween, an island wedding turns into a nightmare. Dracula's Castle style building is where the group is staying among some very strange people. Lani takes a leap moving forward in her personal relationship with Luke.
There were so many strange people with strange names that it was hard to keep track of everyone, even though there was a list at the beginning of the book. Mystery was OK, but all the creepy people turned me off of this one.
Wow this one kept me going. Kathi provided a number of twists and turns to keep you guessing as to what was really going on. A diverse group of characters, mixed up in sub plots. Enjoyable read.
This book really kind of topped my weird-o-meter. It is a really involved story with enough twists and turns to make it really good. Definitely recommend it.
I guess they might feel as if they woke up in a horror movie with everyone being dressed in black!!! But who killed her and why??? I enjoyed the story and recommend the book.
This adventure with Lani and Luke was one of intrigue. They and their friends are invited to a secluded island for a Halloween wedding. While there all the spooks come out.
