Cate Dean has been writing since she could hold a pen in her hand and put more than two words together on paper.

She grew up losing herself in fantasy worlds, and now creates her own worlds, infusing them with adventure and magic.

When she's not writing, she travels to places that inspire her, having her own adventures, and reads pretty much anything she can get her hands on.

There ~ I got the official biography out of the way. I love to write, and yes, I have been doing it most of my life. I've made up stories in my head for as long as I can remember, and I’m thrilled to be able to bring those stories to life, and share them with you.

Dnf

They LITERALLY kiss the first time they meet and become lovely dovey and inseparable from there. This is a dnf for me! Way too fast, no depth and weak story. Glad I only paid $0.99 for it!

now i am hooked. This was such a great, easy and creative book. i was hooked after the first page.

The characters were easy to fall in love with and follow, along with the story. the author made the mental visions so easy and vivid of the surroundings and the characters actions felt so real.

i would highly recommend this author and this book.

Bleh! The description for "Trial By Fire" as well as all of the four and five star reviews had me hoping for an incredible reading experience. What I discovered was middle road everything from the underdeveloped plot, overly rapid, lukewarm romance and quite honestly the unsophisticated writing style of the author. The romance was overly sappy yet it never quite went far enough. If you are going write about passion then write about sex. Don't be afraid of it.

The basic storyline is that Reece Pierpont has an overly protective mother who she attempts to escape by to Santa Luna where she opens a jewelry store. Then, she touches a fae object that awakens her powers as a seer. Of course she meets a P.I., Bran Malcolm, investigating a series of murders and they instantly fall in love. I do mean, instantly. He is half human and half demon but Reece does not care.

As they manuever in this new awareness of skills, Reece's life is quickly under attack especially from the killer. Will she be able to stop any more murders especially the one that might claim the one she loves? As I said, everything about this book developed way too quickly leaving the me feeling underwhelmed. The characters were middle road as well as the plot, romance and action. Obviously, I will not be going on to the other books in this series.

Just enough scary.

Loved it. Great characters. It felt a little rushed at the end. Can't wait for the next book., just in time for vacation.
