This is the beginning story where Mike and Peter, FBI agents, are introduced.
Let the fun begin! With all the excitement of two very opposite personalities trying to catch and trap the bad guys, they also have to prove the bad guys did it. That sometimes proves to be more work than they anticipated in the beginning. All their antics in catching the bad guys will be fond memories.
As Mike and Peter progress in the series, they become stronger characters and completely dominate the mystery stories with their antics.
All the characters in this book are sprinkled throughout the entire Mike and Peter, FBI agent’s cozy mystery series in one way or another. Each character in this book also has a story, along with a mystery, that is in a later book.
Simone's parents are missing! She has been living with her Uncle Bill for years as the search continues to locate them. In the meantime, someone is trying to get their hands on Simone. Why? Someone tried to break into their home. Why? Secrets were left behind for Simone to uncover. Slowly the truth comes out, but will it be in time to save her? With Mike and Peter's help, it's a possibility if they survive all the calamities!
A fun romp about two FBI agents who argue and fumble their way through investigations but come out on top. Their case concerns war crimes and jewels that a former Nazi (who has just escaped from prison) is after. Her uncle had brought her up since they had to split from her parents during the war. They had to get the jewels and papers to safety and a small child would have meant certain failure. However now someone is after the clues that they had left behind. Someone who wants the 16 year old. Teaming up with local police and more teens they try to keep her safe. The plot is full of the antics that befall the group and although the ending is pretty low key the whole thing is a great read.
I Recommend this book to all ages. I loved the humor. I will be reading the whole series. I would be reading along getting really tense then something funny would happen and I was laughing. Great Mystery with some humor thrown in.
I enjoyed this old-fashioned cozy mystery obviously written for teens. Though there's no date stated, the main character, Simone, just turned sixteen and was born at the beginning of WWII, so the era must be late '50s.
This story's pretty mild, great for early teen readers who don't demand high suspense. The tension, well maintained through the story, is about like that in a Nancy Drew mystery; the FBI agents are of the Maxwell Smart variety. Everything the teens do is fun and clean, much as life would have been pre-1960.
Numerous small language blips lead me to conclude the writer's first language isn't English. Phrase arrangements and misuse like "taking stalk" instead of taking stock; "rod iron" instead of wrought iron; "plummeting" instead of pummeling. But over all it's an interesting, easy read with a very simple ending.
A gift of a book from her mother, to be given to her on her 16 birthday, and a story told by her Uncle. There were jewels, and papers, they were trying to get out of the country, to a safe place. The stakes were high, her mother and dad took the items, Her uncle took the baby, and barely made in to America. Searching for her parents, to join them, but no results, year after year. Things came to a head, with her turning sixteen, and the hidden clues, someone else wants. Delightful story for a teen, having enjoyed it as well. Nice to know the characters will be in the following books.
My daughter and I are really enjoying this book. It is a great family story to read together. The proof reader did a poor job, but the story is interesting and keeps you guessing so the grammatical errors are easy to overlook.
I was promised hilarious and was met by fear and sad memories at the start. The tone, well, I prefer more light-hearted. Although the pups were a lighter element! But the topic of war secrets wasn’t my thing. I was waiting for the fun part. But you know what? I kept reading, so it did intrigue me. The storytelling is there, it is, I just think it needs to be polished a bit, edited better. My version contained a lot of typos, I wouldn’t even mention it if there hadn’t been so many, but the book may have been edited since my old version. But the suspense was there. More suspense than mystery, but that’s okay. And after a while, I have to admit, Peter and Mike together were somewhat funny. It definitely got better. I think I might continue this series and see if it continues to get better, because there is promise. Although the end was a bit of a let down, because after that build up it was too fast with hardly any suspense. All in all, an okay read.
This was a very poorly written book. It lacked any real depth, just jumping from situation to situations. The characters were one dimensional and though facing real danger, always happy and joking. Even the villain was a stereotype type. I won’t continue with this series.
Would have given higher rating if it did not have so many grammatical errors. Plot is decent. No foul language or explicit sex scenes. Will continue with the series and hope for improvement!
