Corrupted continues the story of Imogen, the innocent woman taken by her enemy as their war spoils.
After being left alone as her captor Erik is called away on business demanded by his corrupt superior, Imogen must begin to accept her current state and all its implications.
As her fate begins to overwhelm her, Erik wastes no time in the beginning stages to teach Imogen what she must learn to survive. His warnings of ominous consequences if she does not obey linger unrevealed, and both Imogen and Erik fight to remain in control of themselves and their emotional pull to one another.
Can Imogen learn what Erik is trying to teach her? Is Erik strong enough? Or is Imogen’s safety about to be taken out of Erik’s hands and become corrupted?
R.B. O’Brien has always been drawn to the more taboo side of storytelling, even as a young adult, from hiding books from strict Catholic parents as a teen to getting lost in the erotic sections of bookstores for hours.
She is best known for her three published erotic romances, Thorne, Edge of Torment and Imogen. But she is now forging a name for herself in the New Adult Romance category as well as poetry, her true passion, Ruin My Lipstick her first of many to come.
Much of O'Brien's work explores the darker, sensual nature of relationships, those riddled with the reality of insecurities and human folly, often exposing the vulnerability, emotional turmoil, and occasional pain that can come from losing oneself in the heat of passion and the obstacles of love.
O'Brien holds a degree in English literature and teaches for a living in the Northeast, USA. She is the founding member of The Nu Romantics, a poet, a professor, a writer, a dancer, and a hopeful romantic known for her poetry prompts on social media. O’Brien also has a profound affection for Shakespeare and beyond that, writes. Every chance she gets.
Teasingly slow the story continues to unfold in the usual classic style only RB O'Brien can do. Brilliant writing, once again. On the edge waiting to see what is next for Imogen.
Imogen continues her slave training in this volume. One thing interesting is that her owner is basically training her against his own wishes. Given the state of society and the fact Imogen is really a political prisoner, if her owner, Erik, shows that he has feelings for her, it would probably be potentially deadly for both of them. So he's training her to protect her. They are both enjoying it, or at least most of it, but it's not the usual type of slave training you'd read about. It's literally life or death in this case, which adds a new layer.
A great set up from R. B., although she is sure to keep the sex dialed up high too.
Author R.B. O'Brien takes us deeper into the torture of the captured Imogen who now must learn to be quite during certain situations. She dose but at extreme risk and we finally find out what her captures name is with little hints that she might be taken back to where the other captured women are held. She dose learn to obey Erik. I highly recommend this book.
The second installement from RB does not disappoint. With RB's unique story telling, she creates vivid erotic images as the story unfolds with Imogen's trainning with Erik. Be prepared for the emotional rollercoaster, as Erik pushes Imogen's boundaries as he trains her.Erik is still harsh at times, but other times, he looks at Imogen with his caring eyes. Will Imogen be able to complete the training? I am looking forward to the next installement.
