The heroine:Jessica - she was ex-military and after that she was an investigative reporter before being framed for a crime she didn’t commit and given a choice to go to jail or join the Interstellar Brides program where she will be sent to another galaxy to be married off to an alien. Things went wrong when she was rejected by the Prillan Prime ruler.

She got to be a ghost since she wasn’t supposed to be on Earth any longer. She had a contact in Europe and decided to go there to investigate who framed her.
The book had a decent story, but a bit too many intimate scenes for my tastes. I like a bit more story with my smut.
After reading Claimed by her Mates, and finding it less than riveting, I really should have learned my lesson - these books just aren't working for me. However, when I heard this one was Prince Nial's story (a side character from the second book in the series) my curiosity led me to give the series another try. Although I enjoyed this one a bit more than Claimed by her Mates, there was still far too little story and the same embarrassingly cheesy dialog and internal thoughts. Prince Nial was such an interesting character in book 2, but in this one he was all chest beating alpha dom. I'm sorry, but if you have to continually announce your status as a dominant who demands submission I think you're doing something wrong. because it just makes me want to laugh.
I did enjoy the part about warriors who had been captured by the Hive (an enemy that sounds an awful lot like the Borg from Star Trek Voyager) and infected only to be ostracized by the very society they'd been defending. I'm also very interested in knowing more about Warden Egara, but that doesn't appear to be happening in the next book. *sigh*
The story of framed for drug dealing Jessica and her Prillion mate Prince Nial and second, rough, scary warrior Ander.
I think now that I am so far down the line with these books, you have to let them them off the hook for being short, a bit thin on plot sometimes and a bit heavy on smut. They are hot reads and simple pleasures. This one was my favourite of the series so far.
Why? Well i liked Jessica. She’s an undercover cop whose been framed by someone she trusted. You meet her at her lowest ebb and yet she is still kickass. She is rejected from the bride program at the last minute and set free with no possessions. But she instantly rallies and goes off to enact revenge for being sent to prison. Go Jessica!
I liked Nial because we’ve been introduced to him in previous books and can see he’s developed as a person. His capture by the hive has given him a great sense of humility. I liked how he’d been modified by The Hive and was now an outcast. I liked that Anders chose to stand beside him.
Hello? Anders? Pretty hot totty!
So there is a bit more of a storyline with this one. I liked it. I liked how Jessica resisted and how they came together at the end. I liked that Jessica could be a spokesperson for all the exiled vets. It made her strong and powerful.
It was a fun read with strong people and lots of hot bits!
Um. Yeah. I don't even know what to say about this. Sci-fi erotica. Both at its best. And it's worst. There was a lot I liked about the book, but the end...Oh, gosh. That end just spoiled the whole thing for me. It just made me so uncomfortable, and you know me, I'm usually down for anything with these romance books. But that whole ...no. Just, no. That's my limit. Done. Stick a fork in me.
The rest of the book? About what I expected. A lot of sex with an overall okayish story. Oh, but the end . Sigh. I know this was a free Audible find, but I was hoping for more. I'm honestly not sure if I'm going to continue with this series or not. Maybe if I want a sure-fire hot alien sex book...lol
I am pretty open to reading most steamy sex scenes but I draw the line at rapey ...
This book quickly went off the rails when the heroine is held down and strapped down, goes into hysterical thrashing and the 2 "higher intelligent alien mates" can't communicate to their "mate" the medical procedure that requires 2 dildos and a doctor. To top it off the procedure it clearly a public display that she's the only one who didn't know others were also watching.
1 🌟 that is being generous

Solid threesome. It's only 119 pages, so it's not in depth. There isn't much nitty but there is a whole lot of gritty. Attempts to be emotional are a bit cliche. The book was like a fog, I just walked through it, enjoyed the haze and left without wanting to go back. Good book to read to pass the time without investment.
After being set up and found guilty of a crime she didnt commit, Jessica volunteers for the Interstellar Bride Program to avoid a lengthy prison sentence. She is assigned to a prince, the heir to the throne of the powerful planet Prillon, but her future is left in doubt when the match is rejected by Prillon’s current ruler. When his own father seeks to banish him and deny him his right to a mate, Prince Nial takes matters into his own hands. Accompanied by a battle-tested warrior who volunteers as his second, he sets out for Earth to take what is his, but upon his arrival he quickly discovers that the same horrifying enemies who once took him captive now hunt his mate as well.
Now this is what I’m talking about. The writing was great, the storyline kept your interest, there was action, Steamy scenes, and of course not one but two alpha alien males coming to get their mate on earth. Jessica could not believe it, not only was she framed and sent to prison, but her one chance to get away was to be an Interstellar Bride. The plan was the only one, yet they didn’t want her. Now she had nowhere to go and no one to go to. But she could prove who was behind all the drug deals, and the killings with the her camera instead of a gun. Little did she know Nial and Andre, her mates were on their way to get her. Not only did they save her, but they had some explaining to do, and planned to get her off planet earth. This story was so good, not only did it have to awesome gorgeous alien males, but a strong Ex military woman to stand up to them. They had a ways to go to gain back what was lost, but the three of them would get it done.
I don't hate this series...but I need a break. This book started off better than the last bc the female lead had an interesting storyline building. I would have loved to see that part thru to the end, given her efforts.
You know how people say that Hallmark movies are predictable? I feel like these are that way now. I might have messed up by watching the prequels first, I don't know.
I'm listening to the audiobooks and am getting grossed out now by the repetitive use of the words pussy, seed, and master. Also, why are every male on every planet obsessed with spanking, and use the exact same words, no variety?
3.75⭐️ Planet: Prillon Prime/Earth ; Book 4 in IBP, we open with a modulated sex scene in the Interstellar Bride’s Testing Facility. I’m screaming at the top of my lungs!! Finally!! A solid plot. We get about 40% into plot before a sex scene. Love that!! Please do not stray from this. I like how badass Jessica is and I love the “ugly”, “giant”, “monstrous” secondary mate, Ander. I don’t care much for Nial for maybe 55% of the book. I don’t hate him but I don’t like him either. Thankfully the excessively long sex scenes were toward the end of the book so I was able to skim past them but I’m pretty proud of this story compared to the previous in the series. I had a much better time!
I really liked this story. I loved the wounded vets theme and I loved that the heroine was strong and could take care of herself. She was a good match for the exiled Prince. What ruined this story for me and made me lower my rating to 3 stars was
If you like a good smutty story, this steamy read is for you. If you are offended by graphic sex, don't bother. There's a bit of a sci fi story but it is mostly centered around the sex between the characters.
Well this one bit the dust. This series is full of quick reads that tend to be over-the-top, yet still fun to read. This one book was awful. I can't believe I'm saying it but I wonder if this was ghostwritten it was so bad.
Grace Goodwin has ruined me for all other alien romance novels. Correction… she has ruined me for ALL romance novels. After reading her material, I find the others to be tame, dull and overall anticlimactic. I am not ashamed to admit that I have read each of her books at least twice.
The Interstellar Brides series takes place at a time where aliens are real and there are several different planets and species. There is a galactic enemy known as the hive, which is a technological species that invades planets and either kills its inhabitants or transforms their captives into one of them. A coalition was formed between the planets who are at war with the hive. Each member of the coalition is required to supply soldiers and brides to the cause. Soldiers to fight the hive, and brides to repopulate the diminished that have fallen victim to the war. There is a neurological test that a bride takes to me matched to their perfect alien planet, then their perfect alien match on that planet, through a series of sexual desires that only our subconscious can answer for. Earth allows for volunteers to apply to the program, or grants female criminals the option to become a bride over a prison sentence. Those who volunteer are paid a healthy sum of money, and those who are prisoners are given clean slates. All applicants are required to give up their Earth citizenship to become a resident of their new chosen planet. A bride has 30 days to accept or reject their match. If they accept their claim, they are mated to their new alien husband for the rest of their lives where they are expected to make babies. If they reject their mate, they are assigned a new one on that same planet. Where they are still expected to make babies. Warden Egara makes continued appearances throughout the series as she is the one who processes the brides on Earth. (After being caught up with all of Grace Goodwin’s spin-offs, I am still waiting for the warden to find her happily ever after. Hint, hint, Grace.)
Written in first person, Taken By Her Mates is book 4 in this series and follows the human bride Jessica Smith and her alien mate Prince Nial and his second Ander from the planet Prillion Prime. Nial was the eldest son to the Nial himself and successor to the throne. Nial applied for an interstellar bride after witnessing his cousin Deston with his mate Hannah Johnson (from book 2). Nial was taken by the hive during an ambush with the Commander’s second Dare and implanted with hive technology. Unfortunately, Nial’s father rejected his idea for an interstellar bride, as Nial was sentenced to spending the remainder of his life on the colony because of his hive integrations. Jessica was an investigative journalist who refused a bribe and was framed for a drug smuggling crime she didn’t commit. Rather than spend her life in prison where there’d undoubtedly be a price on her head, she opted for the interstellar bride program. Unfortunately, there was a problem with her transport and it was rejected by the prime himself. As a result, she was free to go, benefiting from a loophole in the system that had never been encountered before. She decided to spend her time taking down the bastards that framed her while Prince Nial chose to hunt her down on Earth and claim his bride. Nial and Ander found Jessica on Earth as she was running from the hive. Ander destroyed the hive while Nial took Jessica to Warden Egara to tend her wounds. They were transported to the colony from there, where Jessica accepted the mating collars and received word of the Prime’s death. The three traveled to Prime Prillion, where Nial won his rights to his throne and the entire galaxy witnessed their bonding ceremony. Nial became the new ruler with his queen Jessica by his side and Ander their second. She fell in love with her men and lived happily ever after.
Prillions are humanoid. What sets them apart from everyone else is their massive size (they’re larger than humans), their mating collars allow for the wearers to experience each other’s emotions, and their precum is an aphrodisiac that when it comes in contact with skin, releases a pheromone to make the woman aroused and horny.
There have been way too many romance novels I’ve read that had me frustrated and yelling “Jesus Christ, when are they gonna fuck?! Get to the good shit already!” When we’re 50% in, and the main characters have barely kissed each other, leaves readers like me aggravated. This is not one of those books. The very first chapter gives a very clear indication of what we are in for. I’m fairly confident that there is more sexual content in this book than adventure. It is, quite literally, word porn.
The first few books in this series were a little too hardcore for my tastes. Which is saying a lot because I am far from a prude and consider myself a person with a healthy and active sex life. Filled with bondage and S&M, the consent line was a little blurry in some cases. But, if you can make it past the first handful of books, the writing gets a little tamer with a much clearer line of consent, making the books even more enjoyable. While the consent line was somewhat established, this was one of the books that made me cringe at the spankings and punishments. And we could do without the forced exam on the doctor’s table. If any male, alien or not, spanked me like a child, I would probably kill them in their sleep. But that’s just me. I am so NOT a submissive, lol.
As we read through this series and all it’s spin offs, I can attest that the plot is incredibly addictive. I am way too invested in each book, in all its adventure and romance.
This is the continuation from book 2 featuring Prince Nial as he travels to Earth to claim his mate because his father denies her after he was captured and "contaminated" by the Hive. Nial showed A LOT of growth after his capture and really stepped into the leader role to claim his birthright. Jessica wasn't my favorite character but I do like that once she learned to trust Nial and Ander, that she became gave in to them and calmed down after her lifetime of fighting essentially.
Haha wow, this is pure smut. I figured that going in so my expectations were low, which meant I enjoyed this for what it is. Definitely don't read this for plot, because it is barely there with all the time being spent on the smut. This takes place over the span of 5 days, 2 if you are only talking about the time when Nial and Ander find Jessica, and 90% of that time, they are fucking in some way. The only conversations being had are either explanations about customs/what is expected or dirty talk. There is barely any character development, though I like that this story had such a supportive view of veterans. That whole part, where she essentially liberated a whole planet of warrior veterans, was sweet.
Editing... this book definitely could use another comb through.
Plot... Like I said, there was a baseline plot so there was a conflict that was ultimately resolved. But this could have really been a cool story I think if there was more time spent on developing the setting. I mean, it's on an entirely different set of planets! So there definitely could have been more there all around. It also would have been more believable that the connection between these three was more than sex if they actually spent time together outside of screwing one another's brains out. Though the appeal of each person was actually unique, since they liked her since she accepted them with their "flaws" and she liked them because they could keep her safe. Still. More interaction beyond sex is always nice.
Feminism... I can't tell what to think about this. On the one hand, it seems like a sexually liberating story, so yay feminism! On the other... yeah no. Lots of instances of making women into seemingly weak, second class citizens. I guess why I am less riled up is because I wasn't expecting this to be some women's rights/equality manifesto? But shouldn't we still demand more? They basically just keep her horny 99% of the time and have their way with her... Eh I don't know. But they do make a point to say that though they demand her submission, it is because they can sense that is what she wants from the bond, and that they see her as actually having the power since she is honoring them with her submission... So yeah, whole ball of confusion on how I should feel about this...
Smut... Yeah, that shit is on point. Considering 90% of the book is some kind of sex scene, the fact that this writing is good means that I enjoyed it more than anticipated. And if that is all someone is looking for, then this is definitely the book for them.
OK, so I loved the first in this series (one word = Tark!! Yowzer!!), enjoyed Books Two and Three, but Book Four?!?!! Book Four is flamazing and is hands down my favourite in the series so far.
I have been dying to find out the fate of Prince Nial since his rescue in Book Two from The Hive. How would the cyborg implants affect him? What did this mean to his matched mate on Earth?
Well let me tell you, it meant diddly squat!! Prince Nial is not a man to be denied. Banished to The Colony by his own father, the Prime himself, Nial is determined to travel to Earth to claim his matched bride by any means necessary, then fight to claim his birthright. This is not a mission to undertake alone; step forth Ander, who volunteers to be Nial’s second.
Framed for a crime she did not commit, Jessica Smith is at her lowest ebb. She has two choices, face a lengthy prison sentence or enter the Interstellar Bride Program. It’s a no brainer really!! The one thing she didn’t factor into the equation was being rejected. Not privy to the circumstances which are keeping her and her mate apart she sets out to right the wrongs that have been done to her and bring the culprits to justice.
This story is action packed and not just the type of action you’re thinking about *snorts*!! Can Nial and Ander convince Jessica that she wasn’t rejected? Give her the safety she seeks and the freedom to release her inner desires. Imagine finding out you have not one, but two mates who are both fine specimens of deliciousness!! I had visions of Jessica walking like John Wayne after one scene lol!!
Can Nial convince his people that despite the physical reminders of his time at the hands of The Hive that he is a worthy Prince of Prillon? I can’t help but think of the parallels to our own wounded veterans. War may maim but we can overcome!
As Nial tells Jessica:
“We will do everything in our power to make you feel safe, protected, and loved.”
What more can a gal ask for, I say!!
Note: Copy kindly received from author in exchange for honest review.
A bit more plot in this one, giving a tiny bit more balance to the spice. It was good to get the prince’s story (after he appeared as a minor character in a previous book), and that of his newfound second, Ander. I also liked the messaging around the redemption of ‘contaminated’ veterans. This series is very formulaic and predictable, but still a bit of fun. Once again, however, I spotted a lot of errors that should have been picked in proofreading.
Taken by her Mates- Oh my goodness! Prince Nial! My favorite Prillon Warrior by far! Jessica is an Iraqi war vet and now a freelance photographer, only she's been framed and jailed on charges of selling drugs because she knew too much. Where better to get away from the people who assuredly want you dead than the Interstellar Bride program? Only once she matched to her perfect mate her transfer is denied, by the Prime himself. Jessica is heartbroken, no one wants her, not even the Aliens. But since her volunteering for the program and subsequent refusal commutes her sentence she's now a free agent. One that everyone thinks is off planet and she decides to use that loophole to find out and report the people who framed her. What she doesn't expect is for her mate, and the Hive, to come looking for her. Or to fall in love with him. Prince Nial has been contaminated by Hive technology and, in his father's opinion, undeserving of a bride because of it. Since his father is the Prime, ruler of the entire Prime world, he has the power to prevent the mating. Nial is done with his father's controlling ways though and will find his bride at any cost. (Does he have a cousin? I think he might be my match!) I'm a sucker for the Prillon Warriors and I love the story of Nial coming after Jessica with the odds stacked against him. I loved that, for her, it wasn't love at first sight, though she did understand he was there to help her, once he'd introduced himself. And I love that her veteran status is able to give him and the other contaminated warriors a new lease on life. An alien rescue mission like you've never read before!
I love Grace Goodwin i have read all her books now and i can see how much her writing has progressed in to such a fluidity that her books are seamless.
This Is book four in the series, Every single one of Grace books have been amazing but so far this is my all time favourite I just loved the story it totally stuck with me.
Nail felt totally worthless as a warrior because of the effects from being a hostage of the hive he is different now which scares not only himself but others and that causes his Idiot father to reject him and cancel Nial Bride which makes him so mad he goes after the lovely Jessica.
Ander also feels less than adequate because of his scar's from his previous battles with the Hive he has offered himself up as a second a few times now but no one has accepted until Nial.
Now with the help and utter love of their mate and all the little things she does and says for them that they are able to experience a love like this can make them whole again.
One thing that made me rate this fab book a five is how Jessica cares for the Vet's ones that have been damaged in battle and how she cares for them all i think she show's them how Earth may have there faults but in this they shine I hope that she continues this we get glimpses in the future.
ooo and please please give the warden a story omg she is finally coming through as a person someone who deserves love just like the others.... I also loved glimpses of her past.
