Opens with Anne and Mel facing off against each other eating hot, spicy chicken wings. Anne did this, in part, to get away from her shop which has a curse on it. Her pawn shop is already has its "normal" curse- she has walls that drip blood, a man whose face is being eaten by maggots appears in her bathroom mirror. This particular curse is worse, and quickly taken care of. Someone is stalking Anne and her friends (or are they?). This installment has Anne's friends too. Both Anne's snarky narration and her friends humor make this a fun book. My favorite is Mel. She made me laugh. More revelations for Anne. She learns the truth about her parent's murder. She finds a journal that her uncle wrote for her that leads to both answers and questions. Vale comes clean about some things he should have shared long ago. Be interesting to see if Anne can continue to trick a certain entity. Looking forward to seeing that entity being taken down.
Oh, botheration, lets get the legalities out of the way first, OK? I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review. I am, truly, a very lucky lady!
Anne Moody is still cursed. Poor girl, she's going to be cursed forever, which is really too bad for her, but really, really good for us. The longer she's cursed, the more books we'll have to read. This is the third book in the series, and it was ever bit as gripping and fun as the first two. The cameos in her store are still calling out curses to her, this time they warn of betrayal, but they don't tell her who the betrayer is, or who the betrayed is. And Anne Moody is in for a true surprise, as is the reader.
This would have been another one-sit read, but life interrupted. Admittedly, I was not pleased--I wanted to read. When I get my hands on a book that is as much fun as these are, I want to escape into that world, and not be called back to this one until I'm darned good and ready – or when the book ends, whichever comes first.
Trouble with Gargoyles takes us back to her parents and their untimely death. It shines a bit more light on the Oddsmakers and why they are so interested in poor, cursed Dragon Sorceress Anne Moody, and why she feels the way she does about them.
A monster has arrived in Las Vegas, and is hunting Anne Moody and her friends. The cameos warn of betrayal, and Vale (her gargoyle boyfriend) is a prime suspect. Anne takes us to an old time speakeasy, populated with shifters of various degrees, and learns why she isn't liked, let alone trusted.
Vale's brother, heir to the Gargoyle Throne drops in, and Anne sees brotherly love and competition up close. Is this the betrayal the cameos warn her of?
And we get to see Lucky in his full glory, no holds barred, as he finally is allowed to become Dragon as Anne carries out orders imposed on her by the Oddsmakers. Is her biggest fear realized when this happens? Is Anne Moody now Dragon, and no longer Human?
Some old friends return, and new friends are made in this book. While this series can be read as stand alone books, I think they just might be more fun if read in order. If you are a fan of Jim Butcher, Patricia Briggs, and or Anne Bishop, give Tricia Owens a read. Escape into a Las Vegas you'll never see, except through the eyes of poor, cursed, Anne Moody!
It didn't feel like that much really happened in this book, it felt like it was building up towards something at the end but then it was a bit anticlimactic. In some ways it felt like it was set more in Anne's past than present, so much backstory and history is revealed about her and her family but there's not that much action in the present. It was also a bit darker and not as funny as the previous books.
As usual Anne has a curse problem at Moonlight Pawn, its origins send her on a hunt that brings very unexpected revelations for both her and Vale. Lies are uncovered, trust is questioned, and friend is separated from foe. In the end Anne is gearing up to oppose her biggest enemy yet! I am on pins and needles waiting for the next one, this series just keeps getting better and better! **this book received in exchange for an honest opinion**
Long awaited but so so good. How can you go wrong with shifters, sorceress', dragons and gargoyles...that's right you can't. This installment picks up right where the last one ended and includes plenty of action, romance and humor. I can't wait for the next novel, novella etc. heck, I'll take a chapter right now. special thanks to the author for staying with KU. Very highly recommended series.
i love gargoyles so much.. this series gets better and better for me.. the gargoyles are amazing.. the characters are amazing.. the love and everything is so much fun to read. it is action packed.. it is fast moving and it keeps you on the edge of your seat until it is all done. amazing and so much fun and im very glad i got to review it
Another great installment to this series. All the favorite characters are back and you even meet a couple of new ones. In this book we meet Vale's brother and Anne and the gang make a plan to destroy the Oddsmakers. Anne still has her sense of humor and snarky attitude. The way the book ended makes me think there will be more too Anne Moody's story. Ahhh! Also beautiful cover work again. ❤️❤️
Each book just gets better and I'm seriously addicted now. Anne is such a fantastic character and I love reading about her. Vale is still somewhat a mystery but we do get more this time and he really does well for my girl, so he's cool. Melanie is hilarious as usual, such a comedic relief. Excellent writing, interesting plot and good ending.
I quite liked this book, again this whole skirting around the bad guys until its too late happens but it is less than previous books. This time she is against the ulmighty oddsmen which sound like vampires to me.
I was interested in how this was going to spin and now I'm pretty excited for the next book to be announced and to come out I just hope this series doesn't end up too long.
Not the best in the series, this one took me a while to finish but when I finally got to the last third of the book it got interesting enough to be sad when it ended. Some character development and also back story and introduction of new characters hopefully with the purpose of tying it all in with the story arc conclusion.
This book is so fabulously awesome. I love Anne she is cured and is warn that someone well betrayal her. Now her and her friends are running from a monster that's hunting them down. To know more about this book grab your copy today a so so so must read!!!!
I don't like the monkey. She's obnoxious, annoying and loud. I don't really know how Mexicans are portrayed or behave in other countries, but I really hope is not like her. Cause that would be embarrassing.
This book was fast, but I don't feel as if much was accomplished. I feel as if I only read part of the whole story. The boring, introductory part.
