Aftershock: The Ancient Cataclysm That Erased Human History

Rate this book
Scientific evidence now supports the idea that our planet was devastated by an enormous cataclysm about 12,000 years ago. This event, or series of events not only wiped out much of humanity and thus history, but also any advanced civilizations which existed at and before that time, including what some people call "Atlantis." The only remains that we have of the existence of such civilizations are megalithic works in such places as Egypt, Peru, Bolivia and Lebanon. This book not only maps out what this cataclysm could have been, but also those that created the magnificent stone works that guide us to the conclusion that others, in the distant past, were more technologically advanced than we are today.

Brien was born in Rochester, Minnesota, U.S.A. but grew up on the west coast of Canada. At age 11, he became fascinated with the Native art of the Haida native people, and began carving totem poles, and other related art forms, learning from Native teachers. After completing an Honours Bachelor Of Science degree, Brien decided to take up carving and sculpture full time, at the age of 25.

In 1995 he moved to Maui, Hawaii, and was hired as assistant project manager for the building of the 62 foot double hull sailing canoe ( ancestor of the modern day catamaran ) Mo’okiha O Pi’ilani ( Sacred Lizard That Pierces The Heavens ) and the restoration of the famous Mo’olele sailing canoe.

Peru became his next major area of interest. The study of the Inca culture led to his writing a book, A Brief History Of The Incas, and he is now the assistant director of the Paracas History Museum in Paracas, south of Lima. He is also assisting to improve the number of foreign tourists that visit, as well as is fundamental in expanding tourism in general, especially as regards showing all visitors the 10,000 years of human occupation of this area, through tours of major and minor archaeological sites.

Other projects, which will result in published books, include one about the ancient history of Hawaii, the mysterious stone monuments of Peru that predate the Inca, and the search for the lost continent of Mu. This will require combining all that he has learned so far, with trips to New Zealand (Aotearoa), Hawaii, and Easter island (Rapanui.)

He is the author of 8 books, 4 appearances on Ancient Aliens, season 3, numerous radio interviews, and resides in Peru with his wife.

You can't accuse the author of not walking the walk. When he talks about a place where the pieces of official history don't match, he's explored it, even dozens of times in some cases. He mentions in passing other places in the world where similar anomalies have been talked about by others, but this author won't write about them until he's been there. He keeps a YouTube channel where he uploads his visits to these magnificent and mysterious places. For example:

Some of the the most ancient stonework in Peru, characterized by very distinctly large and hard stones with a pillowed, polygonal look, that fit together almost perfectly and that have strange knob-like protrusions, features the same style as some of the most ancient megalithic complexes in Egypt (but there are other cases all over the world). That kind of stonework is also very different from the one common to the people that history states are indigenous to the area (such as the Inca or the dynastic Egyptians), who used tools that couldn't have created the aforementioned megalithic stonework. That either means that those peoples separated by many, many miles had technology way beyond what is taught by official history (could partly be the case; for example, the controversial Dendera light, or the Antikythera mechanism), or the Inca and the Egyptians settled in areas that contained megalithic complexes and repurposed them; and those complexes must have been made by people that had explored and settled in distant parts of the world. I'm more inclined to believe the latter: geological erosion studies in the Sphynx complex alone speak of it having been built thousands of years before its official dating, which would land it straight in the last Ice Age or the intermediate Younger Dryas period; also, many of these complexes around the world that feature puzzlingly advanced stonework have been found or unearthed devastated and scorched, as if hit by a tremendous blast involving very high temperatures that affected distant places in the world. Some catastrophe with Apocalyptic consequences that hit us at least around 12,000 years ago ended the last Ice Age and raised the sea levels around 120 meters. As the Egyptians themselves put it, these cataclysms have been many, and there will be many others.

I read recently about Piri Re'is' map, which was compiled from older sources, some or all of which seemed to have come from the vaults of Constantinople, the seat of the Christian Orthodox Byzantine Empire. Piri Re'is was a citizen of the Muslim empire that toppled the Byzantine Empire. And those ancient maps were supposed to have come from the library of Alexandria. This half of the world is controlled by the Abrahamic religions; I wonder how many secrets are kept away in the archives of the Vatican, or have been destroyed deliberately, because they would threaten the ruling structure.

The minor gripe I have with this book is that the author quotes a couple of people's theories that I find New Age-y in the worst way: the first that comes to mind is someone saying that we use 10-15 percent of our DNA and that we have to "activate" the rest. I'd rather just look at ancient buildings, thanks.

Fantastic book

Inspired exploration of anomalies from around the world. Convincingly presented in a very easy to read book. I found the work very convincing. A great read.

Lavishly illustrated with many photos as the author attempts to convey his hypothesis that an ancient cataclysm - perhaps a meteor strike, perhaps a solar plasma release that reached the Earth - managed to re-set human civilization when it occurred approximately 12,000 years ago. Attempting to tie into the start of the Younger Dryas cooling period at the end of the Pleistocene Epoch.

Bolivia and Peru to Egypt to Lebanon which he discusses some of the ancient ruins of many cities/temples/whatever they were used as by their builders. The complex and precision carving of hard rock which was also polished to a high level. The movement of multi-ton blocks of rock that even with today's machinery would have difficulty performing. The walls constructed with such precision that mortar wasn't even used and only shows gaps when disturbed by earthquakes.

Sadly, some of the photos the author used to show 'char marks' on rock - first, could be from any time period since heat can cause the rock to crack for easier utilization and second, were not really distinctive enough to be seen. Were those smoke/char or just a shadow?

For someone who believes that there were ancient civilizations that were more advanced and talented that existed before Old Egypt and other cultures, it'll just reinforce their beliefs. If the reader is a skeptic, the book will likely not convince them any different.

Quick read, largely disappointing, clumsy writing. Foerster takes you to Bolivia, Egypt and elsewhere and points out instances of odd damage and deterioration on ancient ruins. Less than spectacular book. The nature of the ancient cataclysm is unclear, comet? asteroid? plasma from the sun or the center of the galaxy? We'll never know. There is some (scant) evidence that there may have been high civilization right here on earth before 12,000 years ago. Many buildings and ruins show astonishing levels of precision and architecture with massive building blocks weighing hundreds of tons. How did they do that? We'll never know.

Ancient Catastrophe

Evidence of ancient disaster involving a comet, asteroid, solar flares, galactic explosion, or all of the above? Whatever the cause, it would have resulted in earthquakes, floods, and catastrophic damage to any civilization existing about 12,000 years ago. The author shows plenty of evidence of such in this book. Past history needs to be rewritten in the light of such evidence.

Interesting Accounts!

Not knowing how the Author was going to present his research, I was captivated by how he interpreted the information found ancient sites. We do have a past that predates normal historical view points. I believe that mankind (us currently) have only begun to explore the depth of how old we really are on this earth. Signs show that we are much older than we think! Keep exploring!

Interesting!

I would like to see further research into this subject as there are so very, very many obvious indications that what is accepted in the past is just based on arrogance and ignorance and ego, and disregard for finding the truth with the much improved scientific instruments that we have today.

LARGE FONTS FOR THE WIIIIIIIN.
Seriously though, it is a book that delivers what it promises. It could have been more affordable is they reduced the fonts and the book size, but hey, they know that a lot of times it is older people that have the time and will to read books like that, so large LAAAAARGE fonts might be a plus.

Interesting concept, backed up with some good thoughts and a few decent photos but the vast majority of pictures were very poor quality. Prediluvian advanced civilizations theorized are nothing new, but the first I've heard of massive sun CME's wiping them out. No proof either but enough of a spark.

Hard facts about unexplained phenomena.

This book presents serious evidence of a civilization unaccounted for by recorded history. The mystery is how traces of their presence have been so completely expunged, and why.

Factual evidence

Brian Foerster makes a plusable case for an earlier civilization, however the Archeologists prefer to ignore the truth. Instead, they maintain their old outdated Darwinian viewpoint.

pretty good information

His research is good. He should have read Cataclysm! By D.S.Allan more thoroughly. Some of the events he had questions about were answered in that book. He added to my knowledge of this time period.
