Other Side is a riveting psychological tale set in the New York City metropolitan area. The themes are viewed through the experiences of Jordan Baros a young middle class African American attorney. The title Other Side is an attempt to explore the duality of personality, character and actions of people. Jordan faces his conflicts and value propositions through four relationships that are juxtaposed and contradictory. His pursuit of validation and truth is explored through his mother, wife, mistress and a sex worker. The anecdotes from each encapsulate a broad perspective of political and social issues in a multicultural society. Jordan’s journey and the women’s stories of relationship struggle and maturation provide the platform for all the characters development.
Ray Hollar-Gregory, Esq. is a lawyer, college professor, and business executive. He has published in academic journals and recently published his second novel. His novels explore modern family relations in its many facets including love and despair. They are both entertaining and smart.
Thorougly enjoyed this book read it in two days, got quite dark in places but ends in light which I was pleased about. The author takes you on a journey and you almost go on the emotional journey with the main character, Jordan Baros. Very well written and I look forward to reading more from this author.
The journey is illuminating the dialogue pulls you in & u feel as if u are there with each character! This book leaves you wanting more Excellent read that flows and before you realize it you reached the end! This is an author to follow can't wait for his next
Trina Baros (wife, Cornell; communications) was in ER at the Mountain Hospital. She had wrecked the new BMW 5. Trina now had her own hospital room. Jordan Baros (AA, narrator, attorney, Federal Retail Corp.; finance) had a meeting with Mr. Lawrence Whitney (Winthrop & Hudson, Harvard), & John Billings (securities law).
Trina was finally released & glad to see Jared Baros (son) & Chad Baros (8, son). She had no idea what Jordan was up to. He was reading the Winthrop Report at his office. Maria Velez (advertising, Jordan’s mistress) had taken Jordan to a fashion show. Lina Quallo (hostess), & James Douhan (sales) were there to greet them.
Jordan seemed to have a whole lot of corporate meetings. Trina was starting to suspect he was screwing around on her. Will Jordan & Trina stay together?

A very awesome book cover, great font & writing style. A very well written psychological thriller book. It was very easy for me to read/follow from start/finish & never a dull moment. There were no grammar/typo errors, nor any repetitive or out of line sequence sentences. Lots of exciting scenarios, with several twists/turns & a great set of unique characters to keep track of. This could also make another great psychological thriller movie, or better yet a mini TV series. There is no doubt in my mind this is a very easy rating of 5 stars.

Without question a five-star read. Gregory takes you on a very eloquently written "real- life feel" journey through the highs and lows of career, family, and marriage. The storyline was deeply intriguing and kept me fully engaged. I found myself laughing a little, tearing up, and then smiling again at the stories pleasant end. I will definitely be keeping this author on my radar! Awesome work! - A. Strong
*I won this book through a Goodreads giveaway* It was different than most things I've read this year, but I enjoyed myself and feel like I stretched my knowledge! Here is my full review.
What first struck me when reading this book was the author's attention to detail. When it came to settings and character appearance, thoughts and feelings, his description was phenomenal. So it wasn't hard to "see" the places and people and feel each character's innermost fears and desires. The author's eloquent use of words were exceptional and so such expressions as: "the pleasant bouquet of her perfume" or "like an alto sax in a small cafe we blended with the harmony of the moment", have been cemented in my mind.
The story itself was about real people and real ups and downs that can affect a person and by extension, those around him/her. I love a positive ending. The main character was able to recognize and admit that he had a problem. I think his wife, in the end, summed it up when she said, "Maybe your problem is deeper than you think; your addiction isn't just drugs." So, to me, his problem wasn't so much the drugs or infidelity, but rather in using those things to fill a subconscious need/void, more negativity was created in his life. In the end, he was willing and ready to "do whatever it takes" to overcome his problem and rebuild his family and ultimately regain personal stability.
A total must read psychological and self reflecting/ analyzing story that leads the reader to ponder on his/her own life and life choices.
