How do the weak vanquish the powerful?

America has been crippled by a false flag, cyber attack event and martial law has been implemented across the nation. A President, desperate to hold onto power, works in conjunction with the United Nations and uses the collapse event as a way to abolish the constitutional rights of Americans.

From author Bobby Akart, The Mechanics continues The Boston Brahmin series into a post-apocalyptic world to show how the government uses a crisis to take away the freedoms of its citizens, and how Americans fight back to restore their Republic.

It will take a committed group of patriots armed with strong survival skills and a desire for freedom to save the nation from tyranny. The Mechanics are the insurgent arm of The Loyal Nine and are well equipped to take on a stronger enemy in this post apocalyptic world.

The Repressed Rebel

Sarge is in charge. Henry Sargent has been named the new head of the Boston Brahmin by J.P. Morgan who recently suffered a stroke. The president has brought in UN peace keeping forces due to the uprisings against the Citizen Corps. New conflicts arise both nationally and personally.

Akart’s fifth novel in The Boston Brahmin series, The Mechanics: A Post-Apocalyptic Fiction Series, is every bit as action packed as the first four. And, what a heart-stopping ending! Oh, my! This may very well be the best book of the group.

This book, as well as the others, is a must read for anyone who wants a glimpse of what could very well be our immediate future. While Akart is not a prognosticator, his novels are eerily realistic in today’s political climate.

5 out of 5 stars.

I received this book for free from the author for review consideration. This in no way affected my opinion of the book, or the content of my review.

An astonishing addition to the wonderful 'Boston Brahmin' series!

As the group at 1PP try to continue to survive and monitor what else is happening in the world, the infamous UN forces are moving into the larger cities to help "keep the peace".

As it was over two-hundred years ago, the Bostonians, the Loyal Nine, and the Mechanics will not stand around and bow to this oppression. The action is tense and the situations are stressful as the call of 'Choose Freedom' is answered fervently. Submission is not an option for them and the tyranny of the Recovery Zone governors will not stand.

Join the incredible and informative series, that teaches the reader about our country while weaving a prophetic tale of what we might be headed for! When it happens, what will you choose?

Thank you

This book was suppose to be out Fall 2016. Thank you Bobby Akart for writing faster. It was much appreciated.

I love this author's books. It is a history, economics, prepper's lesson disguised as a work of fiction. I am enjoying Bobby Akart's story of not repeating the same mistakes as our original leaders. Looking forward to September 29th. BTW I hated how you ended this book. How am I going to wait patiently to find out what happens next?

I think the author is over-using the dodge of filling the reader in on previous episodes and on what the next book will contain. I'd estimate 20% of each book is spent in a collection of previously read material, lists of who the players are and what the next book will contain with about 4-5 chapters of "the next book" inserted at the end of a current book. Cut-and-paste is a wonderful tool but is used to the point of absurdity in this and other series by this author.

Bobby Akart delivers once again. Not only were the first four books in the series good reads, now he adds the best be to date. I feel spoiled because I am getting everything I could hope for, plus a little extra.

This one will be short and sweet. The first four of this series, I rated 5 stars because that is as high as allowed. The Mechanics is better than all of them.

Everyone was arrested by NATO troops. The Nine take 2trucks of food and supplies to Archibald for a peace treaty along with giving back his son. President holds the first address to the Nation. This rather dragged for me for the most part. O'Brien was one of the more interesting parts (continuing from the previous book) but kind of skirts around him a bit. This is a little too rah-rah right and the left is bad (a lot of us on the left would Choose Freedom). The fact remains, that the current situation and tyranny was artificially contrived and in part by one of the prominent Boston Brahmin. It is hard to feel the rise of patriotism in people who were responsible for the situation that caused the martial law. By the way, the Ozarks are no where near the Appalachian mountains.

A BA. SYFY. Novel (5) of the Boston Brahmin Series/The War Goes On

BS. has. penned a SYFY. novel about the continuing war on America by its own President. The President has even called in the United Nations to assist in eliminating the opposing American Forces. One of the leaders is killed because his wife became overzealous which resulted in his death.
The battle continues with the U.N. Forces being guided by our President and his cronies. This is an excellent read for the genre.....DEHS

Chose Freedom

Choosing to stick up for what is right is an attitude that is disappearing in our society, even or perhaps even more so in the wake of loosing freedoms. The Mechanics are the exceptions. They are the 3%ers... they want to fight back. The boots on the ground sometimes do different things than the leaders want. They are the ones suffering and they want to force changes, changes they feel are long overdue. They are beyond diplomacy! They want to choose Freedom, and fight for it!

A very political apocalyptic storyline

If you enjoy politics you’ll enjoy this series. It is much more political than any of his other series’s. It took till book three before it changed from political to apocalyptic. So although it’s not my favorite series by far I’ll read it till the end to find out what happens

Good

As the story moves along, we learn that John Morgan and the Boston Brahmin are involved in the cyber attack against USA power grid, along with the full knowledge and blessing of our illustrious president. While Morgan and his cohorts rap themselves in the flag, we find their true motive is more power and wealth. The President’s motivation s total power.

This was a bit challenging for me to keep engaged with. All of the financial problems certainly reminded me of today's financial crisis, especially the lower 95% of the income bracket. It takes a good deal of money to een prepare for a 6 month time f self sustainability, as is quite obvious during the COV-19 pandemic and that with the electric grid functional..

Survival thriller

The Mechanics are taking the fight to the UN troops and they retaliate with systematic brutality. O'Brien is becoming desperate and makes a move on lawmakers and asks the UN to remove the marines. Sarge and Julia set up a plan to unite Patriots everywhere.

This book wasn't as exciting in my opinion but because I've read many books by this author, I know that some of the books are used to set up plots for upcoming books in the series. I am looking forward to reading the final book in this series. I really enjoy this author and his writing style.

The shifts in paradigm between Steven (leader of The Mechanics and former Seal Team) and his brother, Sarge, who is the author of Choose Freedom come to a spear. Katie spurs Steven to forge ahead of the "troops" in the face of Sarge's disapproval.
Read on in the series to find out what happens when the president makes decisions about media relations and the upcoming elections.

The dichotomy between brothers, Steven and Sarge, comes to a head. Steven is leading The Mechanics on a daily basis and is supposed to take direction from Sarge when it comes to military action. The popular saying among the Loyal Nine is "Sarge is in charge." Katie, the former VP candidate, and Morgan's daughter is spurring Steven to forge ahead and make his own executive decisions regarding military tactics. Will there be friendly fire if Sarge comes to the assistance of his brother and tries to stop an unsanctioned military coup?
The presidential election is coming up soon. What will happen?
This is a very good read and reflects today's political mishaps. The media is reflecting the president but is not reflecting that of a divided society.

Good series of complex characters.

Overall, this is a great series so far. I look forward to the finale. One detail that irked me in The Mechanics is the odd inclusion of the Ozarks as part of the Appalachian Mountains. For all the detail of places this seems like a degree of laziness regarding geographic details.

I love this book and all the history that the author puts into the story of surviving an EMP for the descendants of some of the Founding Fathers.
