3.5 stars - I liked Brandon & Carly's story in the Mafia Ties series more than Nic & Anna's (books 1-3). Comparing to the previous one, there is more action and character development, mafia drama and a strong willed heroine.
I thoroughly enjoyed both characters and the fiery connection between them. Brandon DeLuca, the steely enforcer with a killer reputation who has a soft side he wasn't afraid to show his woman. And the feisty redhead Carly O'Reiley who is now taking over her dad's role as the head of the Irish mob family.

Brandon and Carly met in some difficult and very unconventional circumstances, with Carly turning up to be an informant for her father's biggest enemy, the mafia boss, Nic (Mafia Ties #1-3). Being Nic's right hand man and enforcer, let's just say that although immediately attracted to the readhead beauty, he was suspicious of her intentions, and her end game, so he fought their magnetism, that already created some interesting scenes in the previous books, and ended up with Carly running away for her life.
But Brandon is done fighting what he deep down knew to be his destiny, and after searching for one month for his missing woman, he's not giving her a chance to stay away from him, not even for one minute more!
So now, aside from having to convince his fated match to give them a chance - and let's just say his methods are very persuasive (wink, wink) - he needs to help her fight for her freedom and for her life, and most of all, against her own father.
As per Fiona Davenport's usual, this was such a fantastic story, and the perfect complement for the Mafia Ties series, which was already my favorite by the authors!!!
Brandon and Carly's chemistry comes through in each interaction, and the sex scenes... Boy, oh boy, are they smoking HOT!!!! They are both such strong characters, and that only adds to their lure. This pull and push, and Carly's sassiness only give more spice to their story.
This little read has the perfect combination of romance, humor and suspense, that keeps on making us wish for more. Specially when they give us an ending like this, that keeps us on the edge of our seats, and counting the days to the next part of the story, but without creating any doubt in our mind in the regards of Carly and Brandon’s relationship. Their love is the immovable and beautiful constant!

NO SPOILERS HERE... JUST A GREAT BOOK.
This book was in a word HOT! I mean WOW!
Ok so far in this series we know the crime boss Nic and his new wife are married after they have their drama in the first three parts.
Now in this new continuation of the series we have the crime boss Nic's enforcer Brandon ,who after being shot by the rival crime boss's daughter Carly, being sent to find and protect her.
From the previous books we know that Carly is an informant on her father after she discovers his nefarious plans for her and her virginity. Her father is a really horrible bad guy who abused her horribly (no physical recollections of this) and was into sex slaves dealing and drugs. He plans to sell her to the highest bidder for his own benefits.
Now the story takes off from there.
I will not spoil this story at all for anyone as we know all this information mostly from the other books and from the synopsis.
The hero is awesome and falls head over heels for the heroine even if he is trying to fight all through out the first three books. Here he gives in.
What an amazing guy! He does everything (and I mean everything) to protect her body heart and spirit.
The heroine is no wimp who takes all her lot lying down. She is a fighter and a winner who will only accept the best! And that is the hero.
They are a great couple and I loved his alpha maleness and her sassy attitude.
Keeper and I am looking forward to the next book. Hope it's just as steamy!!!

While I enjoyed Nic and Anna's Mafia Ties this is so much better, Brandon and Carly are far more interesting characters and this feels more like a Mafia book whereas Nic and Anna's felt like a romance that just happened to be set around the Mafia.
We know from the previous books that Carly O'Reilly ran after shooting Brandon DeLuca, Brandon went after her determined to bring her back and while she's good and evades him for awhile he's better and when he finds her he claims her.
This is a great read and I can't wait to start the next one.

In a short amount of time, I have become a huge fan of this series. I'm a Mafia Lover, and this series has all the elements to hook you since the very first book. (This is my subtle way to tell you to read the previous books, LOL).
Pursuit is a spin-off within a series and is the first of three books featuring the same couple. You do not need to read the first three books in the series before read Pursuit, however, I truly recommend you to do it. First, because well damn, you do not want to miss Niccolo. OH MY, that man! Second because you meet Bran and Carly there, so it would be nice to have a previous knowledge of what is going on with them. And third, because NICCOLO! Right, I have already said that but believe me when I tell you that Nic will melt your panties with every word that comes out from his dirty mouth.
Back to business, PURSUIT, picks up where book 3 ended only this story is about Brandon and Carly..
BRANDON, the man is something else. From the moment I met him while reading Deception, I was intrigued. His hot-cold demeanor have me not so patiently waiting for his own story. Then you insert Carly to the equation, a sexy, badass redhead. And you get an explosive as hell couple. The chemistry between them was evident. And I loved the way Bran took his time with her. He could be a ruthless man but when it comes to his woman, he is not nothing but sweet. *Sighs* I freaking love them.
A fast paced and very passionate reading that will left you asking for more. I was like "where the hell are the rest of the pages". Because that ending!!! Yeah, a cliffhanger, you have been warned.
Can not wait to see what happens in the next book...

Brandon and Carly have such an incredibly powerful and beautifully empowering story! Theirs is a story of rising from the ashes of pain and numbness and becoming so much more than they ever dared to dream. It is one of great personal development and tremendous discoveries that shape more than just our two amazing characters. There is never an end to the beauty, love and hope that is found within the soul of a fiercely loyal and absolutely devoted friend, family member, or lover. To that end, we watch a breathtaking story unfold and capture us in its vibrant wake. What we find is an indescribable completion and joy that is unquestionably claimed by these two remarkable characters, and heaven help anyone who stands in their way.

It's so much fun to come back to the Mafia Ties world with a new series of three novellas. Brandon and CArly's story was brewing nicely in the previous bunch, so it came as a very welcome gift that we got to see how their wild romance developed.
Brandon is an enforcer for Nic, the mafia head, so he's not shy to show his alpha male and very possessive nature. That means that he admires Carly's feisty, resourceful, smart personality. It also means he takes charge of her safety now. And in very caveman ways! Smut romance ahead, people!
There is a battle within him between his lust and his respect for his woman. Luckily, both sides are compatible and the passionate scenes are gorgeous, fun and sensual.
Surrounding the heated relationship, there is a gritty plot that links mafia business, takeovers, trafficking and revenge. Violence and power challenges mark the final pages as a surprise appears right at the end. I think the next part of this serial is going to be a real test for Carly. I'm so eager to read it, too.

I can't tell you how happy I am that this picked up right where Nic and Anna's story left off, but focusing on Carly and Brandon. Brandon is just as alpha male as Nic was, but I think he has a softer side to him(ignore the fact that he's the enforcer for the DeLuca family LOL).

I probably loved Brandon and Carly’s books as much as I did Nic and Gianna’s. Which I thought would be hard to accomplish with how much I adored Nic and Gianna. But Brandon and Carly’s books had that perfect amount of mafia and romance. Everything I could ever want in a story. They were absolute perfection.
Brandon and Carly had a lot going against them from the start. One, being she shot him just weeks before he made her his. And the fact they are both part of rival mafia families, him the Italian mafia and her the Irish mob, did not help. But man, do they make love and life look easy when it’s anything but.
Another fantastic romance that was perfect in every way. I cannot wait to keep reading this amazing series with the next book, OBSESSION, and more from these amazing authors. Davenport you slay me!!! 5 Stars!!

Pursuit (Mafia Ties, #2a) by Fiona Davenport
HERO - Brandon DeLuca. Enforcer and 2nd in command of the DeLuca crime family. 6'3 with an athletic, muscular frame. Dark, tousled hair and dark brown eyes. Close-shaven beard.
HEROINE - Carly O’Reilly. Daughter of head of the O’Reilly crime family. Tall and lean with long, curly red hair and emerald-colored eyes.
OVERALL THOUGHTS - I’m sad to report that I didn’t love this one as much as Nic and Anna’s story. There’s a lot more mafia business in this one and...I don’t know. I just didn’t connect to the characters the same way I did with the previous couple. And I hate to say it, but I felt a little bored while reading. On the bright side, Brandon is another growly, possessive hero and while Carly is headstrong, there’s no real push/pull between them. Out of the two of them, Brandon is definitely the most alpha. Oh, and the story is incredibly steamy, just like Nic and Anna’s so I definitely didn’t find fault with that.
I didn’t really like that Brandon and Enzo were suddenly revealed to be Nic’s cousins. In Mafia Ties #1, Brandon was just Nic’s best friend and Enzo was just one of his men. Now suddenly they’re all blood relatives. And speaking of relatives, we don’t learn if Carly knows her brother was killed in the last book. Hopefully that’ll be acknowledged at some point.
I did like that the situation where Carly shoots Brandon in the last book is finally cleared up here. And as I thought, it did take him a couple of months to finally track her down in Maine and when the story opens, he’s already parked outside her hideout. I was glad we didn’t waste time rehashing the cat-and-mouse chase and just jumped right into the present. This installment was very quick-paced and by the end the man I thought would be the main antagonist (her father) of the whole story is already neutralized. There’s a cliffhanger, though, and a new “challenger” entered the proverbial arena - .
I couldn’t really tell you any one thing that kept me from loving this one. Maybe it was that everything just felt so glossed over? I was also a little confused as to whether Carly is supposed to have an Irish accent. Some people in the O’Reilly clan do, and some don’t. I’m going to continue with part two in hopes that Carly and Brandon will grow on me.

I was glad we didn’t waste time rehashing the cat-and-mouse chase and just jumped right into the present. This installment was very quick-paced and by the end the man I thought would be the main antagonist (her father) of the whole story is already neutralized. There’s a cliffhanger, though, and a new “challenger” entered the proverbial arena - .
I couldn’t really tell you any one thing that kept me from loving this one. Maybe it was that everything just felt so glossed over? I was also a little confused as to whether Carly is supposed to have an Irish accent. Some people in the O’Reilly clan do, and some don’t. I’m going to continue with part two in hopes that Carly and Brandon will grow on me.

Pursuit was another fantastic, well written, and steamy read from Fiona Davenport. This story continues the Mafia Ties series, and I have to say that I loved being back with all of these characters. I especially loved being back and getting to know more about Brandon and Carly because those two definitely have a connection that just won quit. This first book for them allowed me to see and experience the two of them falling in love, and I loved getting to be there through every heated and feeling filled moment with the two of them.
This novella really should be read in order with the others in this series, at least in my opinion, so that you really get the full affect of these characters and their connections. This story continues the mafia romance that I have fallen in love with, and I could not put this story down. It was suspenseful, engaging, and full of that passion and heat that I have come to love and appreciate from Fiona Davenport. I especially loved how fiery the connection was from Brandon and Carly, and I loved how the two of them weren't afraid to give it to each other as much as they both go it.
This was a fantastic addition to this series, and I can't wait to read and see what happens next. If you're looking for a quick, well written, and fulfilling read, then I highly recommend any of Fiona's books, and especially this series!! I can't get enough of it, and I can't wait for more!

This is book 4 in the Mafia Ties series and this is Brandon and Carly’s story. If you did not read books 1-3, you will not have any clue who they are but that’s ok, this book gives enough background so you will not be lost.
Carly is an heiress in the Irish mob, the O'Reillys, and Brandon is an enforcer with the DeLuca family. Carly risked her life and gave info to secretly to the Deelucca and now her life is in danger and she has been found out. Reason why? The two families are sworn enemies! Now she needs protection and who does the head of the Delucca call in for that? Brandon, that is. Thing is, Brandon wants her for himself and the electricity, the connection between them is hot and heavy.
Things between this couple are rough, they are angst ridden but they are also like a roller coaster, going higher and higher. What looks solid isn’t and the players keep changing all the time going to one final outcome. Carly is strong, independent and sensual woman while Brandon is definitely a protective, assertive and sexual alpha male. I loved reading these two butt heads in this story. It was fantastic and I cannot wait for book 5 to come out and continue this story for the twists and turns kept me on the edge of my seat.

I was pulled right into this short story. This is a 3 part story that is part of a bigger series so be prepared to get at least all 3 parts of this story. I was pulled right into this story. The story has pain, secrets, drama, action, suspense, twists & turns and steam.

Brandon and Carly have a difficult relationship. Carly is trying to escape her father and Brandon works for an opposing family. Brandon is determined to make Carly his and nothing will stand in his way of making that happen. Carly wasn't too sure in the beginning but Brandon can be very persuasive. Brandon will do just about anything to make sure she stays safe and how much she means to him.
You get a glimpse of Brandon and Carly in the previous books. I was intrigued by them both especially when something happens between them. Brandon knows that Carly is his but he has to make sure that she knows that also. Brandon will do anything and everything to make sure that no harm comes to Carly. I can't wait to see how their relationship plays out.

This story picks up where we left off Carly is on the run and Brandon is on the hunt lol. I love Carly I think she is amazing and Brandon ah swoon. This story is awesome this whole series is but I am Def needing the next book now!
