Matteo Angelico, former Marine and experienced, longtime dominant, knows what he likes--sexy, submissive women who do what they're told and are willing and able to give him the control he craves. But he also knows what he doesn't like--the demands of a full-time dynamic and a committed relationship. He's happy to leave the flowery romance to his twin brother Dominic, and Dom's fiancée, Heidi. So why can't he get the one girl who wants it all out of his head?
Hillary Morrow has learned all too well that D/s relationships don't always have fairy tale endings--the last dominant she met online betrayed her trust in every possible way. But that hasn't stopped her from giving her heart away to the most commitment-phobic dominant in Boston: Matteo Angelico. When Matteo offers to give her the accountability and discipline she needs, she eagerly accepts, even when she finds herself taken across his knee.
As Hillary and Matteo's siblings plan their wedding, the two of them find themselves in frustratingly romantic scenarios, but still manage to maintain a semblance of distance. However, when Hillary finds herself the target of a stalker, she and Matteo are thrown together and sparks fly. Hillary trusts Matteo to keep her safe from the stalker... but who will protect Hillary's heart from Matteo?
Disclaimer: This book contains the spanking of adult women and sexual scenes. Even though it's the second in the Boston Doms series, it can be read as a standalone.
Fueled by dark chocolate and even darker coffee, USA Today bestselling author Jane Henry writes what she loves to read – character-driven, unputdownable romance featuring dominant alpha males and the powerful heroines who bring them to their knees. She’s believed in the power of love and romance since Belle won over the beast, and finally decided to write love stories of her own.
What do you get when you pair a gorgeous, sweet and sassy sub with the uber-sexy, high-handed, deliciously dominant Alpha Male who rescued her in her darkest hour? A wildly addictive erotic romance that leaves you hopelessly enraptured from start to finish!!
In HIS SUBMISSIVE, book two in the swoonalicous Boston Doms series, Hillary Morrow yearns for an experienced Dom to give her the love, stability, and discipline she desperately craves but she is a bit gun-shy because her last experience with a d/s relationship went horribly awry. Nevertheless, she has set her sights on one dominant in particular, Matteo Angelico, the fiercely protective former Marine who saved her from a deranged sexual deviant and makes her feel safe like none other. She harbors a massive crush on Matteo but she is still reeling from the humiliation of professing her feelings only to have him heartlessly turn her down.
She assumes the overwhelming attraction she possesses for the debonair Dom of her dreams is totally one sided, that he would only ever consider her a pesky little sister, but little did she know that Matteo’s feelings for her are far from brotherly. He aches to stake his claim on little Tink, but he know she is strictly off limits. Besides the fact that she is 8 years his junior and she seems to have confused real love for a bad case of hero-worship, his twin brother, Dominic, is engaged to her sister, Heidi, and strictly forbade him from making a move on sweet, achingly vulnerable Hillary.
But the thought of another man being her dominant, of daring to take care of her the way she needed—deserved-- didn’t sit right with Matteo so he strikes up a compromise…he will be her Dom as long as she needs in order to reach her goals and to learn how to be obedient and submissive. But there’s a catch. It will be strictly platonic for as long as it lasts. Of course that was easier said than done since every time he takes her over his knee to teach her a lesson in obedience and respect, it sparks a burning lust and red hot desire that threatens to consume them both!! And when the predator from her past begins stalking her once again, it rouses his every primal instinct to cherish and protect!
HIS SUBMISSIVE by Jane Henry and Maisy Archer was Absolutely. Freaking. Incredible!! I truly enjoyed every single moment of this book. From the charming, infectious romance between the stern, fiercely possessive yet breathtakingly tender dominant Matteo and his adorably feisty, fiercely loyal sub Hillary to the lol macho male bonding beween Matt, his brothers and his fellow doms at The Club, to the suspenseful stalker plot and everything in between! First and foremost, Matteo and Hillary’s romantic chemistry was on fire! I relished the pulse-pounding heat between the couple as well as the soul deep tenderness, underlying humor, mutual respect and undeniable love that flared between them.
This Boston Doms book was a very sweet, endearing love story at its core and even during the most somber discipline sessions, the trust between this couple was always paramount. And while the OTK spankings were scorching hot in intensity and left made me all aquiver, they were relatively mild in nature, which was right within my comfort zone. I also appreciate how the book featured believable, relatable characters and that the focus was heavy on the heart throbbing romance and light on the BDSM kink.
The romantic buildup between Matteo and Hillary was really beautifully paced and struck a real chord in me because the authors did a stellar job of playing out all the dramatic beats so none of the situations came across as rushed, contrived or forced. I felt deeply for these characters, rooted for them to overcome their emotional obstacles, and the romantic tension was sustained throughout. And…OMG… swoon alert! The romantic payoff was magnificent!!! The moment when Matteo professes all the reasons he loves his girl was so irresistibly romantic, I still get a lovesick grin on my face just thinking about out it!
The writing was top notch from start to finish. The narrative engaging, the secondary characters entertaining and charismatic (so much so that I have a mad crush on big, brawny, brazenly sexy Slater!!) and the plot unfolded at a brisk and believable pace. Bottom line? This book was pure breathtaking romance at its best with a small helping of suspense. Although I did not read the first book in the series, it worked fine as a standalone. But of course now I am clamoring to read MY DOM so I can fall head over heels in love with Heidi and Dominic's romance as well!
HIS SUBMISSIVE is sheer heart melting perfection from start to finish and I can’t wait to read more from these exceptionally talented authors!!
This was a good book that could have been great. I would rate this more 2.5 stars. I just spent so much time frustrated with Matteo. He was sexy as hell and I know he meant well but he is supposed to be this masterful Dom but he made some very poor choices in my opinion. With the kind of power exchange here the way he kept messing with Hillary's head was not okay. He said they are platonic but yet was constantly crossing the boundary. Yes she wanted him, but how is she supposed to trust his word when he says one thing but does another? He also should have just manned up way earlier and told Dom his intentions.
While this could be read as a stand-alone, I DO NOT consider it be such. There are multiple reoccurring characters, consecutive timelines and overarching themes, so for maximum reader satisfaction, they should be read in series order.
** Contains scenes that may be a trigger for sensitive readers, with examples provided below. Also, please be advised that the following will contain spoilers if you have not read the previous story in the series **
Maybe it is because the story universe continues to be build from the first story, but this story seems more complete to me. It does have a darker theme with Hillary still being stalked and threatened by Marauder. The good news is there are no cliffhangers and the story ends with a HFN / HEA.
There are a few grammatical issues, but these are primarily missing words, extra inserted words and incorrect punctuation. I uploaded some comments that highlight a few things I found to Goodreads.com for anyone interested. I mention these for readers such as myself that visualize the story as it is read, because errors interrupt the flow.
This story begins after the engagement of Heidi and Dom (1st story of the series) and features her sister Hillary, and his brother Matteo. Even though there are no details of the engagement, we learn that Hillary told Matteo that she wanted to be his submissive and admitted her growing feelings for her. He turned her down cold because he told her that he didn’t return her feelings and she felt like his sister.
Later we learn the real reason he rejected her, but this still starts a cycle where Hillary is continuing to struggle. She is a submissive that craves structure and someone that she can trust to be there to establish rules and consequences. After their siblings engagement party at Cara, Hillary finally admits to how hard it has actually been to find someone that can teach her, especially after what happened with Marauder.
Matteo wants to be that for her, but he made a promise to stay away from her. He understands that her feelings for him could be hero worship because he rescued her, but he can’t help himself and really steps into it when he agrees to help Hillary find a Dom that she can trust. Matteo puts it off as much as he can, but finally realizes there is only one that he would trust with his life like that … Slay.
So Matteo asks Slay if he will meet with Hillary as a potential Dom to help show her what it is all about. Slay agrees and they set up a time for the two of them to meet at The Club. Hillary goes there and she is nervous, maybe she should have let him pick her up instead of meeting him there, but then he shows up and he is massive. She knows he was with Matteo when she was rescued, but she didn’t really remember much about him.
The two of them are talking and it is fine, but he just isn’t Matteo. No one is, but she needs to give this a serious shot because he doesn’t want her like she wants him. Then who should show up? Matteo. Oh boy, this could be bad …

So many things to say about this one and yet my brain can't come-up with all the words. So i'll just start and see where I end up.
First of all this story is narrated by Batman. No joke, the whole time I was listening I could hear the narrator in the back of my head saying 'I'm Batman' in the deep garbally voice. Now I am all for deep voices, love them BUT you still have to be able to understand what they are saying and that was a struggle in this story. The other thing that threw me, was when character B would interrupt character A, the edit of the story would actually overlap the words, so the last word of A would said at the same time as the first word of B and so you could not tell what either of them said.
There is very little sex in this story, not that that matters, but when I read a bdsm book, I kinda expect a bit more kink than this one gave. The rules of dbsm were handled well. Thought i do get tired of Doms not telling their subs important info, I know that is an element of trust, but not telling them something can get them into bigger trouble than if they had the balls to tell the sub what was really going on.
I have a few notes on the whole spanking issue in the % done section of notes. But just to restate, how can a spanking be calming/relaxing/centering to a sub? And how can you use the same act of spanking for punishment as well as playful and then also centering? I'd really like to read some good bdsm stories that DON'T have spanking. Surely it is possible to have that type of relationship without that type of discipline. Spanking is not a trigger for me but it is something I know I don't enjoy.
The story line was ok, the main focus was supose to be on Dom and Heidi's wedding and it seamed like such a minor part of the story. I did enjoy the continuation of Hillery's drama from the first story and how all of that went down.
Matteo🐺🍌🌋✋, the playboy twin, has seemed to set his sights on Hillary💋💃, the younger sister of Heidi. Heidi is the fiance of Dominic, Matteo's twin. Hillary💃💋 thinks younger brother Tony is more her style. Tony is still mixed up with the clothes horse, Val. He is just too nice a guy to tell her they are over with. She is also somewhat of a shrew.🐀 Geez, this thing reads like a cheesy soap opera! Matteo🐺🍌🌋✋💪🔥 is definitely a dom. He spends a lot of time at The Club with various submissives. I loved this story! Matteo and Hillary were great. It was funny, action packed, sexy, romantic, spankings included and everything I could ask for! Hillary was so strong to get over what she did and not let it deter her in her learning to be a submissive and her trusting Matt as her Dom was great. Matt was an experienced Dom & a great fit for his Tinker Bell and gave her what she needed even when she didn't want it lol. Their chemistry and banter were great as was Hill's sass lol; although I'm not sure Matt would necessarily agree on the sass part lol. There is an outside villain that puts a strain on the trust in their D/s relationship, adds some danger & gets Hillary's butt in trouble. It was well written and had few editing errors. I loved both the main and the supplemental character-they were all pretty well built and you can't wait to get to know them better and read the next story (I'm looking forward to Slay's story)! They have a great little family. This is a definite must read story!
This story is all about action and suspense. It is a very good series story that doesn't really recap the first story to tell the second. I think for me the first story had a bit more humour and fun, this story was much more drama, action, and suspense. This story visits the club a few times but strangely it seems little more than a bar... I love the secret passages in a Boston Club... I hope for more scenes of the Doms and Submissive type not just spanking... which This couple seems to do mostly... although I am certain the potential for exploring was/is great in some other areas. I like the story
All Hillary wanted was to explore her wants and needs but choosing the wrong Dom had put her in the precarious situation of needing to be rescued from the situation. Mateo, Dom's twin brother and fiancee to Hillary's sister, had been at the BDSM club and been the one to rescue Hillary. When signals get crossed and a lack of communication combine to put these two on a rocky course, it doesn't help when it becomes apparent there is a stalker threatening not only Hillary but the BDSM club as well. This had an intriguing twist of evil threaded through the story which kept me turning pages to find out what happened next.
Well, you've at least met Dom's brother Matt and Heidi's sister Hillary. This is their story and it's a pretty darn good story.
Dom doesn't want Matt doing anything except protect Hillary. Hillary is looking for a dominant. She wants Matt but he has promised his brother that nothing will happen between them. So, Matt offers to help Hill find a dom and all sorts of interesting, convoluted things start happening.
I would recommend the series to anyone that enjoys BDSM fantasy romance stories and I haven't even read them all yet.
Hillary and Matteo are adorable together, thanks to her brattiness and his determination to not get involved, while being very, very involved. She does pull a TSTL move, and that was disappointing because we should be beyond reducing otherwise-strong heroines to blowing up the Grand Misunderstanding. Other than that, the story was a perfect follow up to the first book, and a great setup for the next.
Matteo so made me wish I had my own personal dom. As I was reading his and Hillary's story I found myself wanting the security from my man that Hillary had from Matteo. I fell more in love with the series with each word I read. I wanted to keep reading on and on about them, but realized their were others in the series I wanted to find out about and I know that as I continue the series I will continue to get to see glimpses of them as I go.
I liked Matteo and Hillary together. It was funny to see him fall after the way he teased his brother, Dom in the first book.
This book had action and suspense. Also a touch of mystery. Hillary and Matteo were often funny, but the relationship was so well written you got a great sense of how the felt about each other.
This is turning out to be a pretty good series. I can't wait to read book three.
At first, I was so ticked off with Matteo. He seemed to want nothing to do with Hillary, even going as far as rejecting her at one point. But when they finally do get together, oh boy!!! It's on! This was a little more intense than the first book was and I really enjoyed it a lot! Now, on to book 3!
This was way better than the first book in the series . Matteo is Dom’s twin. Hilary is Heidi’s sister . Don and Heidi are from the first book and planning their wedding . It’s kind of cheesy the way the twin brothers ended up with the sisters but hey this is fiction.
I started with My Dom and bought this one the same day as I finished book 1. Both books are equal in their strengths. The story is solid and the characters lovable. Both books, Mr Dom and His Submissive I read as if I was starving to find out more. I am a very picky reader when it comes to plots and both of these books have good ones. I can't wait to buy book 3.
I'm glad Matt and Hillary ended up together. I like Hillary as a character, but she definitely wasn't as safety conscientious as I would be after what happened to her in the first book, but I don't feel it detracted from story. It was just something I noted in the background.
- sub/Dom and age gap!! - their first convo was a bit cringe - Val is just the worst - oh my god so much pining - you wanna shake Matter for 90% of this book - this book was intense omg - Tony standing up to Val BEAUTIFUL - Tony’s speech 🥺 - i know Dom was doing what he thought was best but like let Matt do his thang - would of been nice to of seen the convo between Matt and Dom
She's too young and his twin brother makes him promise not to engage with her BUT she really craves the submission that put her in danger the first time when Matt and his friends came to her rescue.
We see them work through everything along with Dom and Heidi creating their own obstacles in the budding romance.
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
From the start, you not only feel the chemistry, but also the frustration between these two. It continues throughout the book, with some sexy interludes as well. Add in danger and a stalker and it's an enjoyable, sexy, loving read.
Matteo and Hillary were well matched and I loved their sweetly kinky story. This whole cast of characters are great and I can't wait to continue with their stories.
Mattel has never committed to a woman. He rescued Hillary from a bad situation in another BDSM Club because she's the sister to his twins submissive. He didn't expect to be attracted to her and isn't prepared for the way she makes him feel.
Of drama but not enough BDSM explored. In the epilogue we find out that Matteo eventually tied up Hillary and had his way with her but we don’t know what/if any boundaries were set. Safe word?
I adore this series! Matteo and Dom are just perfect. I was a little bit annoyed with Matteo for taking so long to come to his senses about Hillary, but he got there eventually and it was amazing. Can’t wait for the next book!
Oh wow love Heidi and Hillary they are just like two naughty little girls at times, but so fieststy too, and had to laugh at their antics when they were acting like naughty children.
This story was very enjoyable. I was a fan of Matteo and Hillary. I also glad they could work it out. I loved the dramatic ending. This was a good read
