“I’ve wanted this for so long. I don’t know what to taste first”
I have been trying to properly sit down and read this book for what feels like months now. Something always comes in the way and I have to start from Chapter One all over again, because of this, I originally didn't want to give Unveiling Ghosts a rating. But I felt like that would not do anything justice and it was a cowardly way of playing it 'safe'.
But here's the thing.
If you were to go solely for the fact that even after a month of on and off reading, I still wanted to pick this up and read Sherry and Hunter's story - that screams for more.

The Writing
I have read reviews on Jeannine's writing. I stand by the fact that no review can and ever will do her justice. (Including this one). If there was anything that I want to shower my stars over, it would hands down be her writing.
It's a different form of purple prose - she uses metaphors and long winded paragraphs to help tug the hearts of her readers and even though that is usually a hit or (definitive) miss with me, she really got it way over the ball park with this one!
Second chance romance and the friends to lovers trope is something that always makes my heart sing, so when Jeannine reached out to me and asked me to review one of her books - I fell hard for the possibility of falling for this story. In a way, I did and I didn't.
The Romance
Now, please don't get me wrong because there a bunch of people out there that I KNOW would love this story, if they picked it up because true soul mate love stories are something that people can melt over. However, I found that a lot of the lines ran cheesy and cliche at times.
But on the other hand, there was some really cute moments and maybe I'm so used to assholes in the romance and NA genre that Hunter comes along and gave me absolute fucking whiplash. I'm talking die-hard book boyfriend material, this kid will go to the ends of the world for you, but then again he's Sherry's and I will fight you.
I enjoyed the start more than the finish. This very rarely happens, it all felt backwards - I couldn't quite grasp why there was a need for such a long timed split (4 years) and the reasoning that we were given felt very halfway. Almost like I missed something! I also loved that we got to see them growing up and falling in love together and then doing it all over again, but whenever the time jumps happened I always felt like the voice and the speaker was the same. This also goes for the narration, because we got a dual POV - Hunter and Sherry seemed to have the same voice and that distinction between the two was hard to read sometimes.
Overall, Unveiling Ghosts was a cute and light read and if you need something to pull on your heart strings but not have to think too much about the story or plot - then this one is for you <3

But deep down I’m calm because I know that oxygen is coming.” I paused, my eyes soaking it all in and committing this moment to memory. “You’re my oxygen, Sherry, and I know you’ll always come through for me. I trust you more than anyone.”
Overall, Unveiling Ghosts was a cute and light read and if you need something to pull on your heart strings but not have to think too much about the story or plot - then this one is for you <3

Overall Opinion: I loved it! I love a good second-chance romance, so this was right up my alley! I especially love those stories that start with children that allow us to experience them starting with a friendship that grows into love as they grow older! In order for a second-chance romance to work for me, I need to believe and understand the reasoning for the separation. While I was a little frustrated (for the characters sake) with the whole situation, I did understand the reasoning as to why the H behaved the way he did. This has some unfortunate but sadly realistic events that go down that cause some angst and drama, but not so much that it felt OTT. It was just enough to make their reunion that much sweeter IMO. I am so frustrated with authors having the conflict resolved and then we are thrown directly into a half-a$s epilogue! In this, we actually get a jump ahead chapter before the epilogue that gives us some closure with answers some of those questions about how everything worked out for them. And that epilogue?!? So flippin' awesome! It ranks up there with Sweet Rome for me in top epilogues! Couldn't be happier and more confident with labeling this bad boy with a "HEA" in my closure section below ;)
Brief Summary of the Storyline: This is Sherry and Hunter's story. I'm going to keep this extremely vague, because I don't want to ruin it. They meet when they are children and become best friends. Their friendship grows as they get older, and they fall in love. There is a tragic event that separates them for ~4 years, but they find each other again...and they do get their HEA.
POV: This alternated between Sherry and Hunter's POV.
Overall Pace of Story: Good. I never skimmed, and I thought it flowed well.
Instalove: No. They meet when they are 9 and 10, and it takes a while to develop stronger feelings.
H rating: 4.5 stars. Hunter. I really liked him, and even loved him through most of it! My only issue is that I did wish that he allowed the h to make her own decision when everything went down.
h rating: 4 stars. Sherry. I liked her. I really appreciated how she never gave up on looking for the H, and how accepting and caring she was as a child with him.
Sadness level: Moderate. While I teared up a few times, I never need any tissues. It does cover some heavier topics and does become emotional at times -- so it could just be me.
Push/Pull: Not in the typical way
Heat level: Good. They have some good tension, chemistry, and scenes -- but not so much it takes away from the story.
Descriptive sex: Yes
Safe sex: Yes
OW/OM drama: No!
Sex scene with OW or OM: No
Cheating: No
Separation: Yes
Possible Triggers: Yes
Closure: This had one of the best epilogue's I have read! If you follow my reviews, you know that I am a epilogue junkie and I LOVE a good epilogue -- so I think that says something here. I was left with the biggest smile on my face after finishing this, which is exactly what I think an epilogue is supposed to do! All of my questions were answered and I couldn't have asked for a better HEA :)
How I got it: **I was a beta and arc reader for the author, so I was gifted copies of this book and might be a teensy bit biased ;)**
Safety: This one should be Safe for most safety gang readers

This is a wonderful story about a girl in pigtails and a pink dress and a boy who loved to run.
Sherry’s graduation is supposed to be one of the happiest days of her life. Instead, it reminds her of what she’s lost—her parents, brother, and soulmate, Hunter. She’s spent the last four years barely living, still haunted by the ghosts of her past. But when she receives information that her soulmate is still alive, she drops everything and flies back to where it all started and ended. She has a lot of questions that need answers, and Hunter’s the only one who can give it to her.
I enjoyed this so much more than Unveiling Chaos! Here we have a second chance romance, star-crossed lovers, and some slow burn going on, then add two likable characters who have been through a lot. This book has a lot of heavy topics—child neglect and abuse, cancer, death—but a lot of touching and heartwarming moments too as we saw the friendship and blossoming love between Sherry and Hunter. From the day they first met when they were ten ’til the day they were separated when they were eighteen, and the day they meet again when they’re twenty-two.
What I loved about this book the most is the realistic voice of the characters as they were growing up. It was like watching a montage of a person’s childhood. One day they were playing in the backyard, the next they’re experiencing their first kiss. Then they’re attending the prom, falling in love. It was easy to see when Sherry and Hunter were growing up and discovering their feelings and hormones, and it felt very authentic. I especially loved seeing the transition from innocence to awareness.
There was an air of maturity caused by Hunter’s terrible experiences, but the youth is still obviously there.
he reason why I didn’t give this five stars is because although I loved the pacing in general, there were a few dragging parts in the book where I felt some things were over-explained, making some of the narrative and dialogue chunky. And I think I have a few questions about the past, most of them relating to Hunter’s family. Like what was Hunter’s father doing to afford a more opulent lifestyle? What happened to his mother?
Other than that, I enjoyed Unveiling Ghosts. I loved Sherry and Hunter’s story. I laughed, teared up, and fell in love with them. Hunter is such a swoon-worthy guy who was been consistent in his love and devotion for Sherry. As misguided as it was, his love for Sherry was one of the reasons why he left her. Sherry is also admirable. She’s resilient, strong, but still so kind. Other people would have hardened if they experienced everything Sherry did, but she was still able to keep a certain softness in her heart that hasn’t been buried by her pain and loss.
And the epilogue. AHHHH. It was so beautiful! After everything Shery and Hunter have been through, the ending was perfect for them.
Unveiling Ghosts is the third standalone story in the Unveiling series told in alternating POVs and in a nonlinear narrative. It’s a story of two people losing and finding their way to each other again. It has a perfect balance of joy, angst, and a slow and deep burning love. If you’re a fan of soulmates and star-crossed lover tropes, you might enjoy Unveiling Ghosts.

I said it and say it again: I adore Jeannine Allison’s writing.
I wish I could write something poetic like her words awake feelings in me, but I’m not a poet, so I’d rather just say - Jeannine Allison is an amazing author.
I’m sure Jeannine is also a great sincere person, who believes in forgiving and redemption; and lives her faith.
I’m a bit different.
I’m that b*tch holding a mean grudge in the back corner of the life-celebration.
I never forget and don’t forgive easily, which caused my main struggle with this book.
2nd chance. It may be a bummer, it may be a winner.
This one was in between.
Amazing written characters. Loved the chapters from the past.
Personal thanks to the author for the real scene of the 1st sex.
Adorable and sweet.
Safe, respectful, hot and faithful.
But why did he leave her 4 years ago? I understood the problem with his father, but how his disappearance help the situation?
He abandoned his gf, the love of his life; he left her alone to bury her parents.
He stayed away for 4 years.
He left her alone. He was her home. He left her alone. He was her only family.
There was not enough explanation and grovel for my taste.
The rest was beautiful.
Finished. Gotta go to check on my grudge.

“I love the friends to lovers trope, and I especially love it when the friendship begins in childhood. Just don’t make me read the childhood years,” said me before this book.
I can count on two fingers the number of times I’ve enjoyed reading a child’s POV. It’s never believable. It always feels forced and stilted. So, when I got to the part that said “Sherry, 10 years old,” I thought, Great. Here we go.
But Allison NAILS it. Not only do the MC's sound their ages at ten, they also do at twelve, thirteen, fourteen, all the way through to eighteen—and with each passing year, they change and grow while remaining true to their characters.
Okay, so major props for writing believable MC’s, but I would still rather go in for a root canal than read teenage drama, believable or not. Turns out, Hunter and Sherry only wish they had teenage drama. What they have to face during their younger years is very, very adult, and it's their age that makes it so heartbreaking.
I love the way the story is woven between past and present, a conversation paused for eight years of memories, and then returned to. It doesn't bounce back and forth, and I think that’s what earned my investment in the characters. I had time to get to know them, watch them grow up. By the time I made it back to present day, I was no longer just sympathetic, I was empathetic.
Hunter and Sherry are the definition of soulmates, and nothing life throws at them can keep them apart forever. I've read many second chance romances, and I rarely find a couple more deserving than these two. They truly earn their HEA.
On a side note, it appears the author and I share similar tastes in music. I noticed when I got to the playlist in the back of the book that several of the featured artists had played randomly through my Echo as I was reading. I kept thinking, Man, Alexa is on her game today. These songs are perfect! But then I saw Allison's playlist and decided Alexa was a little too on her game, so I unplugged her before she started levitating and talking in tongues. True story.

Unveiling Ghosts is a well written story about what happens when you get a second chance at love again. Throughout all of the heartache and pain that you thought you would have NEVER survived, you’re suddenly given a life jacket. And when that life jacket comes in the form of a past you would have done anything to hold on to so now the question is, Do you sink or swim?
“Ours is a love people write stories about. But you will never show me falling in love with you, because I never fell. I woke up on the ground, staring up at a beautiful girl in pigtails and a pink dress. I never had a choice in loving you. I was born to love you. All I’ve ever had to do was find you.
Four years ago Sherry’s life changed dramatically. Dealing with a loss like that is not easy and for Sherry, the one person who meant everything to her, was gone just like that. Trying her best to move forward, Sherry is now looking forward to going to Medical school and starting her career. But one message is about to detour her path and life as she knows it, will be forever changed.
Hunter has been a shell of a person for the past four years. Dreams are like nightmares, and longing for the one person who was the center of your world, is a constant ache that no amount of time or distance is going to dull. One phone call is going to put him face to face with his past, and Hunter is about to find out if his love story is one worth being written about.
I really liked the connection between Hunter and Sherry but my absolute favorite thing about this story was the flashbacks. They were well written and I felt like I was falling in love with Hunter the same time that Sherry did. These two went through everything together from their awkward phases, to their first kiss, and falling in love quietly but with purpose. I also loved their journey and seeing how they came full circle. And not to mention with a epilogue like that, I was one happy girl.
If you’re looking for a sweet second chance romance, this one is for you.

I can honestly say that Unveiling Ghosts is Jeannine Allison's best work yet! I loved her two previous books in this series but Unveiling Ghosts has everything I love in a story. First the characters Sherry and Hunter are deep, multi layered characters and their story is very well developed with so much heart, love and intensity. This is a story about true love. An epic love story.
Their relationship isn't an insta-love. No, it's a love that grows and evolves through time, over years. Sherry and Hunter have so much history and that's also why their love hit me so hard and right in my heart. I grew and fell right along with them as they did for one another.
Sherry and Hunter are two equally strong people who finds each other at the right time. At ten years old. Sherry has lost her brother and Hunter just wants to escape from his parents. How their story progress from there is truly a roller coaster ride of a journey filled with so many emotions.
I loved how their friendship bloomed into so much more. Into an all consuming love even though it wasn't easy and they had their struggles, they proved how strong and how far they both were willing to go for that love. For one another.
The story switches between their present and their past. From start to finish the story feels cohesive and the pace of the story flows effortlessly. I'm invested and connected to Sherry and Hunter. Also the secondary characters plays a huge role. Especially Sherry's parents. The other characters from Unveiling Sky and Chaos also make an appearance and just shows why I love this series so much.
Jeannine Allison has delivered an intense and heartbreaking story about soulmates and true love. Her writing and prose are stronger than ever. Simply magnificent. I know there's two more books in the Unveiling series and after finishing Unveiling Ghosts I can hardly wait.

Another winner by Jeannine Allison. This story was beautiful. It goes back and forth between the past and present which sometimes doesn’t work for me. It not only worked for this story but was necessary. This author has such a way with words.
I missed reading about the whole gang in this book as much of it takes place in Sherry’s hometown. But that was ok because that was also necessary.
I can’t get enough of these heroes and the women that love them. They’re real men that don’t have to bang half the town to prove they’re men. And when they find the woman for them, no others exist for them. Pure perfection for this reader.

Unveiling Ghosts was just as beautiful as book one, and just as captivating as book two. When ten-year-old Sherry spots a little boy running through her backyard, the story begins. The boy introduces himself as Hunter, and before long, they are best friends, and then high school sweethearts.
Things have changed since then. Now, Sherry looks back on her life, back four years ago, to the day she lost everything - her parents, her home, her boyfriend, and herself.

Whew. The plot for this book was beautiful woven, and the author skillfully intertwines the past and the present to create an unforgettable love story. I was pleasantly surprised at how authentic the voices sounded for the younger versions of Sherry and Hunter, and the realism really helped with the depth of their relationship as well. The story contained development in multiple spheres: physically and emotionally in the minds of our main characters. What I loved the most was seeing Sherry and Hunter's growth, both as individuals and as one; they each had such a powerful voice, but when they came together, it was even more unbelievable.
I was a little surprised at how quickly they fell back into one another, but I was glad that they both understood that they weren't the same people they were four years ago. The relationship between Sherry and Hunter was one of a kind. It's unbelievable and almost unrealistic, and I think if any other author attempted this it would've become too cheesy, but Allison pulls it off, and with the same, powerful writing that she's shown in all her books so far.
Jeannine Allison has a graceful and fluid writing style that will both give you immense happiness and cause gut-wrenching pain. There are so many quotes that I've highlighted in my ebook - just lines that I know I'd want to remember forever. One of my favorites:

But I mean, gahhhh! Hunter is my kind of man. The kind of man that will do anything for the one he loves. This was my first read by Jeannine Allison and I absolutely loved it. Going into this story I had no idea how deep and heartfelt it was going to be. What I really loved about Unveiling Ghost was how we get to see Sherry and Hunter as kids and how their love came to be. But in this case, not everything is Hearts and flowers. Sherry goes through something tragic, losing her family as well as losing Hunter. I won't go into details, as I'd like for you to go into this story and experience it for yourself. The journey these two go through to finding each other again and overcoming their demons was truly beautiful to read. Oh, and it ended in the most perfect way!!!!! Best Epilogue <3

I didn't get why he didn't go after even when he thought she was with OM, no she wasn't with anyone the OM was just her friend.
I'm rating 4 stars because he stayed celibate those 4 years, he never thought about being with other women but

Unveiling Ghosts is a beautiful, emotional story about love, loss, heartbreak, guilt, and second chances. Told in both past and present, and alternating POV's, it's a story about two people who found each other at the right moment and never gave up on the love they shared.
Hunter met Sherry when he was ten years old, running through her yard trying to get back home so his parents wouldn't notice that he was gone.
The thing I loved the most about UG was that it was a slow burn. The 'past' scenes captured young love beautifully. It was like watching the sun rise and set on a breezy summer day. I couldn't keep the smile off my face and the hearts never left my eyes. It intensified as they got older. I mean, look at what this man says:
"She was the girl. There was no: There are plenty of other fish in the sea. Sherry was it. There was only one fish, and it was her."
"I'm holding my breath, and even though I know I'm going to come up for air, there's this inevitable panic coursing through me. Even a little dizziness if I really pushed it. But deep down I'm calm because I know that oxygen is coming.
You're my oxygen, Sherry, and I know you'll always come through for me."
"My love for Sherry had been a shout across the silent night. Standing back here, in this town with her, was like being in a canyon. That shout became an echo, and that love sounded like a deafening never-ending roar."
"She was absolutely breathtaking. And I never wanted to catch my breath."
"You're the rose in a world full of thorns, and the rainbow at the end of a storm."

I think readers need to know that there is mention and a graphic scene of child abuse. It's not easy to read. It's heavy and it made my heart hurt. But their story is too good to pass up.
Sherry and Hunter have been through a lot over the years, but one heartbreaking moment causes Hunter to really think about what he needs to do to keep Sherry safe. Being with her could hurt her. So he leaves town without telling anyone where he's going.
"Hunter broke my heart four years ago, but he was also the only thing that could make it better. It was remarkable how the same thing that destroyed a person, could also be the thing that healed them."
"I wanted to give her the fairy tale, the happily ever after where all her dreams came true. Instead, I gave her a nightmare."
Separated for four years, Sherry finally receives word that Hunter is alive. She heads back home to try and find him. Only now, Hunter is trying to find her too. There are no more outside threats trying to keep them apart. It's perfect, isn't it? You witness their epic love story and you want nothing more than for these two to get back together. I NEEDED them back together! <3
Once they are sharing the same space again, you feel their love trying to claw its way out of both of them. But there is so much they have to discuss. Why did Hunter leave? He promised he never would. And the most important question both of them need to know is; do they still love each other or did that love end?
Well, I'm not spoiling anything so I'm going to end my review here. If you're looking for a deep, heartfelt novel that will tug on your heartstrings, Unveiling Ghosts is a must read!

What a book. If you like friends to lovers or second chance romances, you will adore this book. If you like books told in alternating POV, you'll love this book. If you like books that make you feel to your bones (and cry- let's not forget the sniffles), then you will cherish this book. I can't delve too much into the story because, to be honest, I don't want to give anything away. Though it is the third book in the Unveiling series, it stands alone without a problem. In fact, Sherry was an extremely guarded character that you didn't get to know very well in the previous books. Ms. Allison shows how Sherry got to be this way, and boy is it heartbreaking.
Sherry and her childhood sweetheart, Hunter, went through more than any person should have to endure at any age, let alone by the young age of 25. The story of their relationship is equal parts beautiful and painful. By swapping between the past and the present and Hunter's and Sherry's POV, Ms. Allison effectively pulls you through the book like a fish on a line. I was up until 3:00 AM reading this because I was *that* emotionally invested in the characters. I will admit that the first flashback portion of the book both surprised and annoyed me a bit (Yes, I cursed. The author does this each time that the story is about to take a turn or reach a climax. Tease!). However, Ms. Allison wrote each character's flashback chapters (which covered ages 10-18) at an appropriate maturity level (meaning that a 10 year old didn't talk or think like a 20 year old). This occasional oscillation (by section of the book- there were maybe 4-5 sections) between the past and the present greatly enriched the book and made me want to greedily read faster. I'm already an extremely fast reader, so this is saying something.
I was already a fan of this author. She covers rough, painful, underrepresented topics with grace, class, and a gentle hand. This is, by far, my favorite book of hers that she has written so far. The next standalone in the series releases October 26. I may (totally will) beg her for an ARC if she has any spares. I'm not sure that I can wait that long.

Look at me go! Thanks to Robin... I forgot that in my last review, dang it! So I'm thanking Robin twice now... I had won Unveiling Chaos and Unveiling Ghosts in a giveaway on Facebook, and it's because of that that I've gone on this little marathoning of Ms. Allison's work. Now what am I going to do??? *pouts* LOL!
This is my review of Unveiling Ghosts, book 3 in the Unveiling series... which is a series of interconnected standalones. Obviously, you can see that I am a creature of habit and have to read the books in order. However, in this case, I do think you could pick up this book and read it and have no issue without not having read either of the two preceding books...although, its two predecessors are quite good, #JustSayin'...

The writing is stellar. Truly, Ms. Allison is just getting better with every book. The sense of voice and pacing, timing... the use of flashback, the childhood voice in particular was quite good.
But that night I thought, in the simplest of terms, maybe love was not wanting to say goodbye.
Loss of innocence wasn't about a number. It was about one universal truth. Humans were the worst kind of monsters; no help from demons was required.
Stories were funny that way. Sometimes you didn't even know they were starting.
This book was different from the two previous ones for me, I didn't connect as much with the main characters...which is fine. I can still appreciate the skill and subtle nuances and the obvious craft of which it took to write the story. And again, I have to repeat myself, because...the COVER!! Gah, the beauty of these covers is just unreal.

I love a good second chance romance, and Hunter and Sherry fulfilled all my needs. They really are the epitome of soulmates. Their love grows over the years, beginning with a friendship that starts when they were young kids, and at times it’s hard going, but at others, it’s beautiful.
Jeannine Allison is an incredible author, and her words just give you allllllll the feels! The story is heartbreaking, yet hopeful, and definitely takes you on an emotionally charged journey. I think that this is my favourite of the Unveiling series so far.

This book is one you must read with kleenex and chocolate! Sherry and Hunters story there is a lot of heartache and gasps but so much love. If you love someone what all would you do for them? I love second chance romance books and this is definitely one of my favorites I’ve ever read. The author makes you feeling like your sitting with these characters and feeling the high and low to the story. Definitely another amazing book! This was one heartfelt story and it literally broke my heart at times. Mt favourite kinds of stories are friends to lover ones, especially when they have grown up together, so first off this book was going to be right up my street. However I did not expect the turns this story makes.
Hunter did not have the best upbringing, he did not have the best parents and he found solace in Sherry and her family. I love that it took time for Sherry and Hunter to build up their relationship. You could tell even from the age of ten that their outlook on life was different but I think this is why their relationship was always so precious and when I say relationship I mean friendship in their younger years. I loved seeing this pair grow up together and how Hunter would always still try and protect Sherry from his life.
Circumstances mean that Sherry and Hunter get ripped apart from each other. Sherry loses everything and you can completely understand and feel where she is coming from. The ability the author has to make you feel every emotion is truly amazing. I felt like I was there right with Sherry. Sherry doesn't know what happened to Hunter and you can understand her anger. You would think that after the time apart that she would have gotten over Hunter but her feelings are still as strong as ever and with what they go through together as kids and how close they are you understand why she feels the way she does.
Hunter and Sherry are brought back together and even though Sherry is angry with Hunter you can tell they both want each other as much as they did before disaster struck. I like that even though getting back together was quite sudden, it wasn't all love and roses and that Hunter still felt guilty about his choices and you could see him really trying to make things up to Sherry.
This book was super emotional but in the best way and I really did enjoy reading it. I mean I was reading it every chance I got, even during my lunch break at work. This turned out not to be such a great idea because I would either end up crying at my desk or not wanting to put the book down when my hour was up.

Hunter did not have the best upbringing, he did not have the best parents and he found solace in Sherry and her family. I love that it took time for Sherry and Hunter to build up their relationship. You could tell even from the age of ten that their outlook on life was different but I think this is why their relationship was always so precious and when I say relationship I mean friendship in their younger years. Ok! Soooo..... I was very "Switzerland" about Sherry in the previous books. Hadn't really clicked with her, wasn't overly curious about where she was headed, didn't mind if there was a story about her or not. So when I realised that book #3 was about her, I was a little worried how I would go.
Enter the genius writing of Jeannine Allison and it didn't matter one iota that I hadn't clicked with Sherry yet - because I was clicking with her now!
"Unveiling Ghosts" is such a beautiful story that has so much love and heartbreak, I actually clutched at my chest a few times.
Hunter and Sherry have loved each other before they even knew what it was. He introduced her to a world where pain existed and she introduced him to a world where love existed. Both a foreign world to the world they each knew. Hunter made Sherry see there are real live monsters amongst us, while Sherry made Hunter see that we do have a soul. That such a thing as kindness and peace is real.
This story has been written in sections of past/present/future and it is gorgeous! It is such a special way to read where these characters started, where they are now and where they are going. It never once felt rushed to get through their story. It broke my heart and healed it at the same time. I felt such sorrow and joy at the hands of Sherry and Hunter. Jeannine elicited such emotion where I wanted to throw my Kindle at the wall if it meant I couldn't climb inside and punch someone.
Three books ago - I had never heard of Jeannine Allison. I am so ashamed that I didn't know who she was. And I am forever grateful to another author - Autumn Grey - who introduced me to Jeannine.
If you are a fan of the romance genre then you need to make certain that you have Jeannine Allison on your TBR list. You are doing yourself an injustice if you don't ever read any of her work.
My only issue now is that I have to wait for the next instalments in this series..... damn you woman!!

Ok I have to say I think this one has been my favorite so far in this series. I had such a connection to Sherry and the loss she suffered.
She had not been living since the night her whole world was shattered. Losing both of her parents and her soul mate was too much for her to handle. Putting on a front for her new friends across the country, they didn't know her past and the heartbreak she suffered.
Hunter didn't have a great start in life until one day on his way to the park he saw a cute little girl in a pink dress sitting at the window reading a book. That would be the start of a friendship that grew into a something more over the years that would bind them forever.
Ah loved how this one turned out and that Hunter had to let her go to save her, and if it was meant to be, they would find their way back to each other.
Cherish every moment you have with your loved ones as you are never guaranteed tomorrow.

This is the first book I have ever read by this author and honestly I am speechless.
Unveiling Ghosts is a story of love, lost, grief, anger and every thing in between.
Hunter and Sherry meet when the are 10 years old. Sherry is a happy, well loved girl. Hunter is the neglected son of parents who should never of had children.
Over the years their friendship blossoms into love, until one fateful night when everything gets ripped out from under them.
Fast forward a few years and they are still trying to piece their lives back together.
Is the old saying true....Love conquers all.

Sherry and Hunters story is a fairytale. Filled with hurt, love, pain, sadness, brokenness, and restoration.
Unveiling Ghosts is one of the most sorrowful books I have read in a while. Love makes it all worth while. Jeannine Allison’s words are beautiful, and so well written.

i swear jeannine's purpose in life is to make her readers cry, break their hearts and lament for her characters endlessly ! this is a very sad and emotional book. a real tearjerker! i had to stop at some point bec all the feels are getting into me. there is a hea though! and i love the epilogue!
also, i love that all the themes i love in romance story are present in this book! soulmate love, check! bestfriends to lovers, check! second-chance romance, check check!!

I loved it so much! I have a soft spot for second-chance romances and this book was amazing in the category. Two broken hearts what meant to be together, find one another eventually and start to heal… *sigh*
I love when a book alternates between past and present, this way we can watch how the relationship between the characters slowly unfolds. I also truly loved the characters and the writing style was pretty great. So I can't wait to read more from Jeannine Allison. :)

Unveiling Ghosts, book 3 in the Unveiling Series, starts out completely different from the two previous books, immediately jumping into heartache and suspense. Floating between past and present, their history is heartbreaking. The reality of it tough to read. Hunter Monroe and Sherry Hughes meet as 10 year olds from completely different backgrounds. But their connection is strong. Their relationship evolving as the years pass. The writing smooth and evokes the emotions. The maturity and no-nonsense drama of the characters and story is refreshing. Their group of friends are people you want to know and be a part of. Unveiling Ghosts is a sweet, friends-to-lovers, second chance romance with a touch of angst that had me smiling. It can be read as a stand-alone, but I highly recommend starting from the beginning. It’s a series worth investing in.
