Disenchanted with his life path, wedding photographer Luke Golden desperately needs a change. He’s been single since college, and he just can’t admit to himself that he’s got a thing for men. That is, until he meets him at a client’s wedding. He’s impossibly handsome, he’s got a voice of gold, and he’s one of the most famous pop stars in the world.
Passions under the spotlight…
Will Masterson’s life has been a flurry of stage lights, five star hotel rooms and flashing cameras, never giving him a moment to pursue his true passions or show his real self to the world. He also desperately needs a change, to make a true connection that has been sorely missing in his heart. When he meets Luke, the handsome stranger unaware of his celebrity status, the two hit it off in a way neither have felt before.
Their desires must stay backstage…
As the notes of their passion begin to perfectly harmonize, they must do everything they can to keep their relationship out of the public eye and away from Will’s uptight and authoritarian stage mother. Can the two men keep their secret hidden, or will the curtain come crashing down on their love forever?
Our Rhythm is a steamy contemporary M/M gay standalone story set in sunny Southern California, and features a HEA feel-good ending and no cliffhangers!
I’m super aware there’s nothing at all original about this book and that is not exactly very well written either but I had the best time reading it so 3 stars ⭐️ just for the vibes 💁🏻♀️
Two men’s path’s were destined... Photographer at a wedding, Luke sees a gorgeous man, he’ll not soon forget. Luke hasn’t acted on his appreciation of men, but this one has woke him up inside. Luke does not know the man is a famous pop singer, Will, 23, blonde and blue-eyed, who is at his friend’s wedding. Will likes Luke immediately, but Will is closeted. The two begin with dinners, talks, find common ground with architecture. Luke, 27, dark hair, wants more after three years out of college, than wedding photography. He’d like to capture homes/buildings with harmony and structure pics. Will took architecture, but was sidetracked by singing from his Mom’s forced wishes. They carry on being friends, with Will letting Luke know his feelings. Both men have never had m/m relations, so their sexy times are exciting. Our guys get along, talk music, dreams and architecture and more, all while their passion escalates. The Mom isn’t happy After a robbery complication, decisions must be made. I like each man’s best friends. Strong characters, fresh ideas, and we get an HEA. Enjoy !
DNF @ 58% I can't do it... it's just not worth any more of my time. It's not written badly, it's fine, there's nothing wrong with that. The editing is fine too. It's the content... Once the MC thought about "the L word" at 54% after like 2 dates, I wanted to quit... it's a totally unoriginal story about an average guy meeting a celebrity and they get along amazingly and the guy didn't even know who the celebrity was, and the celebrity can be himself with the guy... nothing that hasn't been done before. The only unique aspect that I thought was interesting was the architecture element. Though I imagine if I knew anything about the topic, I'd be frustrated with the writing.. and I'm making that assumption based on my frustrations with other aspects of the story... I'm not a wedding photographer or a record producer, but I feel like I know enough of the basics to know how unrealistic the situations in the story are. If you're going to write about things, at least do a LITTLE research? Having hired a wedding photographer before, I was really annoyed with some of the details of the process... the biggest being that there's no way in hell you're working on the images for that wedding right after it, unless you don't shoot weddings very often, you're going to have a backlog. In addition, if you're finishing them all in a day, you're doing a really shitty job... and many other issues that I was just like... no. Then the music issue... I tried reading it again, I said I'd give it another chapter after I wanted to quit the first time, and I get a couple pages in and already I'm frustrated by the fact that they say Will is flat in the second chorus... so he goes in and sings the song all over again? Not how it works.. and they were saying they were pressed on time. He's gonna sing just that part that needs to be done again... unless they go ahead and address it in the future (that I'm not going to read)... maybe that's the way mommy likes it... But yeah and I know there's gonna be issues with Mommy Dearest and stupid angst and I'm just not into this enough to put myself through finishing it... I can enjoy cheesy stories, and I like the musician trope even though it's done over and over again but... this story has the plot of someone's first fan fiction (and I like good fan fiction!)... it's written fine, but it's just so unoriginal. Do not recommend.
The biggest problem with this one is that it reads like a teenager's idea of romance. The premise is all there and for the first 25% of the book it looks like it's heading into really good story territory.
But unfortunately, once Luke and Will get together, the whole thing turns into a naive insta love gush where the MCs suddenly act like cliche giggling teenage girls instead of young men in their early 20s who are both working and having adult experiences.
There's a first time gay sex scene where both of them are apparently virgins at anal sex but the whole thing goes along swimmingly without needing any preparation or condoms apparently. Sorry but while yes, not everyone's going to struggle, the whole scene felt completely unrealistic sadly.
A little more time developing the relationship between the two would have worked far better, as would having them be perhaps slightly older than 23. They really didn't see to act that age.
Oh, and the crisis element and the way they dealt with it was okay in so much as they managed to prevent the tabloid media sensationalism, but again it just felt rushed through to get to the over the top HEA.
I liked this a lot better than the first book I read by Cody Rhythm. However, it still suffered from being so unrealistic that I had to laugh a little. I liked all the characters, except the mother of course. It’s very sweet with little to no angst. At least there’s no last minute break up.
I just finished this book and I find myself completely charmed by the very sexy and romantic story of Luke and Will...
Luke is a confused and uninspired wedding photographer who feels as though he should be doing more with his skills, shooting weddings has become a tire and he longs to photograph more exciting projects for magazines and the like.... Will is the biggest pop star in the world and living a life of lies by hiding his sexuality - that is until he meets the wonderful Luke and they both bring out the best in each other... This book was a sweet, fun and insanely sexy story of 2 guys who just want to be happy but haven't had much luck finding it, the story paces along quickly but it never felt rushed, the romance between the 2 is very nice and also the friendship with April and Frankie (who are very interesting and realistic characters that supported the 2 guys beautifully) was a nice change for mm romance, it's not often that I find the female characters in these books that likeable but these gals were awesome!
This is the 2nd book by Cody Ryder that I've read and I plan to read more soon, I love his style of writing and the characters he creates are in my opinion definitely worth your time.
It started off ok and I can only really say that it’s an ok read. The first few chapters were ok and then everything just sped up far too quickly. There were so many options to really beef this story up and make it much longer. Like an actual book you know? Some scenarios weren’t overly realistic but it was a good attempt.
I received this as an ARC as a .pdf document. I prefer to listen to my books as I drive, do chores, and even fall asleep to, so I purchased this book by Cody Ryder and was prompted to read it by an email. I had several other books I planned to read over the long weekend, but I can say with great conviction that I'm glad I was poked into reading this book.
Cody Ryder is a new author to me. He wrote a very sweet love story, that I would have missed out on, because of all the other books I own. I've read other stories involving musicians, but it isn't a preferred genre. After reading Mr Ryder's tale I definitely see myself reading more. The life of a celebrity is not easy. To the outsider, autograph seeker, concert ticket and CD buyers, the life of their idol is fantastic. Money, mansions, travel, adulation from tens of thousands. Cody shows us the other side.
The hard work, the constant attention when trying to perform simple tasks: going to dinner, grocery shopping, a friend's wedding. The exhausting schedule of a concert tour. Always having to be in character, especially if you have a task master of a mother with great expectations of you. Gruelling singing lessons daily since early childhood. Recording over and over until each song is just right at the record studio. Dating an "A" list Hollywood celebrity that had been vetted. Everyone needed to be vetted who he associated with.
Can you imagine having other dreams? Even in the type of music you'd rather sing. But what about in another type of career all together different? An education in architectural design that your deceased father had encouraged you to pursue. How different would your life be?
Luke Golden dreamt of being a Photographer who took pictures of Beautiful Homes for an Upscale Magazine while he was in college. But for the past three years he's been a Wedding Photographer, with an Assistant and now best friend, April. He is very good at his job and keeps getting clients, but this job is to pay the bills until he can get his dream job. It is during one of his wedding gigs that Luke meets the stunning William Masterson, pop idol. A brief talk leads to acknowledgement of some similarities and seemingly a desire to talk about further about it.
This is the beginning of a friendship. The ease of commonalities. The enjoyment of fine design. Of course there couldn't be anything else, because Luke was so deeply in the closet that only April knew he had desires for other men. And William was dating an "A" list actress. When it became apparent that the two of them were starting to develop feelings for one another. There were those who either strongly encouraged them though with caution, while others wanted to end their "friendship". But just who was who?
I really enjoyed this story and encourage those who like stories about musicians, photographers, following one's dreams, and about being closeted, coming or being forced out. I look forward to reading more by this author.
Such a feel-good story… I loved this uplifting story of how finding true love bolsters the strength to be true to yourself, the connection between Luke and Will is evident from their very first encounter. When we first meet Luke, he’s cautiously peering around the closet door, acknowledging his attraction to men only to his best friend but honest with himself that the chemistry between himself and Will is profound. Forced to keep their blossoming relationship under wraps, it was inevitable that neither could be satisfied with less than everything for long, and I found myself anxious for the turn of events that would force their hand. And when it does, I couldn’t have been happier about the choices they made to protect each other. There’s a purity to the dynamic between these two men as they explore each other that I enjoyed, as sexy as they are together, this is more than a simple insta-love situation as they find common ground between them to build a foundation for a lasting relationship. With a supporting cast of characters who are memorable in their own right, I was also charmed by April and Frankie’s unwavering support of the new couple. At the same time, I was more than a little annoyed by the oppressive amount of pressure from Will’s domineering mother, and was grateful when she finally took the steps necessary to redeem herself. This was such an entertaining book, I look forward to reading more from Cody Ryder in the future. Please note that I received a complimentary copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.
This book is somewhat out of the ordinary. Two virgin men who meet at a wedding where on me is the photographer and the other is a friend of the bride's family. Both men are aware of being gay but unable to come out of the closet. Friendship develop, happiness grows and eventually love can't wait to bloom. This a thoroughly enjoyable book and I strongly recommend it.
I picked this one up on Kindle Unlimited because the premise looked fun and I'm very gals that I did. The writing was excellent and I fell in love with both Will and Luke. The insta-love bit was a bit odd to me and could have been built up more, but other than that, this book was fun, and emotionally engaging.
This story has a lot of heart so much so it effected my emotions. My heart beat sped up when the emotions of the main characters felt things from love, fear, yearning and back again not every author can do this. Keep up the great work Cody!
This was a lovely uplifting story. It was so well written and romantic. A pleasure to read and left me with a smile on my face when the closest was opened and a lifetime of sunshine came pouring through for these two lovers.
A nice quick entertaining read. Luke is trying to find himself professionally and personally. He meets William and together they make significant changes.
