High-Risk Reunion was so exciting! The danger and threats seemed to follow Tory and her daughter, Michelle, throughout the entire book. That made for a very “edge of your seat” read!

The tension between the two main characters, Cade and Tory, due to their past relationship added to the excitement in the story. There were plenty of regrets between the them, but also the chance for forgiveness and the hope for something more as they worked to bring the criminals to justice.

I loved the combination of romance and suspense in this book and I look forward to reading more in the series.

I received a complimentary copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Love it!!

I always know when I pick up one of Margaret Daley's books that I will not be putting it down until the last page is turned.

Looking at the cover I was immediately intrigued and the back blurb intrigued me.

I was immediately pulled into the story from page one.

Sept. 11, 2001 had a great impact on our nation, but it also had a great impact on us individually. It changed the lives of so many.

Cade Morgan was closer to Tory Carson than just about anybody. They had dated for years and marriage had come up, but Cade knew the attacks of 9/11 would change the course of his life. While Tory went to college Cade went to Afghanistan, but neither would return to hometown the same people with the same dreams.

Tory was now the DA in El Rio, Texas and the widowed mother of a 14 year old daughter. Cade had returned to his home 3 weeks ago after a transfer with the Texas Rangers. So much had changed. Tory was prosecuting gang leader Diego Mederos for various crimes and one of the biggest cases of her career. When she moved back to El Rio her plan was to make the community safer by prosecuting those offenders and she had made a huge dent so far. Unfortunately she comes home after a day in court to a vandalized house and the possibility her daughter had been kidnapped.

Cade, a Texas Ranger, had recently been transferred back to El Rio. Currently he was living with his Uncle Ben on the family ranch. The chief of police contacted Cade about the vandalism and possible connection to the Mederos trial, but for Cade this was more than just an investigation. It was personal.

The mystery and fast paced action that ensues kept me glued to the pages. The story line brings elements of a mystery, suspense, second chances, trust and faith. I loved Cade as he shows great strength of character and Tory is as easily lovable also

. The past is the past until it comes back to haunt you in a living breathing person.

Both will have to put the past to rest and work together to solve this and bring the person to justice.

This is a book I would recommend to anyone who loves suspense.

**I received this book from the author for a honest review without bias or outside influence as stated above.

Great start to an awesome new series! A complicated and hard-hitting plot makes trying to put all the pieces of the case together pretty daunting. My brain got a real workout over this one. And the tension between Tory and Cade is palpable from the get go. These two have history with a capital H. Take a gnarly romance plus a gnarly suspense and pair it with the gnarly antics of a teenager and what do you get? An explosively good read.

Author Margaret Daley writes riveting, inspirational suspense with a hint of romance thrown in for good measure. The Lone Star Justice series starts with one Texas Ranger, Cade Morgan, one District Attorney, Tory Carson and her fourteen-year old daughter, Michelle. After Cade becomes a Texas Ranger and moves back to El Rio, he and Tory are thrown together when threats are made against Tory. As District Attorney she is trying to convict the leader of a biker gang in El Rio. Cade’s job is to protect Tory and her daughter, Michelle. Cade and Tory have secrets and share a past. As Cade and Tory spend time together will their love from years ago be rekindled? Will they find answers and be able to accept circumstances they couldn’t control? A story with hope and forgiveness and a lesson--secrets will always come out. I enjoy Margaret’s style of writing. Her books are genuine page turners! If you haven’t read Margaret Daley’s books, this would be a good beginning. Delightful!

I always enjoy beginning a new series written by Margaret. There is a lot of suspense, great characters and it's very hard to put the books down! This first book in the new series, Lone Star Justice, is no exception. It's non-stop action from the very beginning and I found myself asking what would I do in each situation. That's how I know I love a book! It draws me in so much that I feel a part of it! Margaret makes her characters so believable and "real life" that it could be anyone so the reader relates well to them. In this story we have a district attorney, Tori Carson, who is prosecuting a gang leader and you know, right there, that there is going to be retaliation for her personally! It takes a lot of guts to do that. When she continues to be attacked in different ways, her former love, Cade Morgan, now a Texas Ranger, takes on the protection duty. There is a reason why it is difficult for them to be together in this high-stress situation. I'll let you read the book to find out why!!! As I said, though, there is non-stop action and lots of suspense but most definitely, some romance! Another great book by Margaret!! I recommend it!

Will they survive to build a family?

I started reading Love Inspired Suspense books several years on a friend's suggestion and I've discovered lots of great authors and wonderful stories as a result. By far, Margaret Daley is one of my favorites, penning suspense and sweet romance equally as well. From the lovely fall-themed cover through the last page, High-Risk Reunion is one of her best. Lots of danger, romance, and tension between the characters over a secret that binds them together.

Secrets play a big part in this story and there is a very valuable lesson to be gleaned on honesty being the best policy. Secrets not only have a way of coming out at inopportune moments but they also often hurt the people we love most.

High-Risk Reunion is book one in Margaret Daley's new Lone Star Justice mini-series and is a must read for any of her fans. I for one can't wait until book two releases.

This was a great book. It had action, suspense, second chance romance. Tory and her 14-year-old daughter had a close relationship. That bond got tested when they became a target because of Tory’s job. She was a district attorney in the middle of a big case. After a long day in court, she came home to find her home had been broken into, and trashed. Messages was written on the wall in blood. Thankfully her daughter was at school at a basketball game at the time of the break in. Cade Morgan is a Texas Ranger and also Tory’s ex. He put Tory and Michelle into protective custody. I loved the bonds they made with Cade’s uncle. He was a good man. When I thought the danger was over, there was more to come. This was a hard book to put down. If you need sleep, don’t start it before bed thinking you’ll read a few pages. You’ll end up staying up half the night, lol.

A good read with an exciting story with several twists and turns. DA Tory Carson returns home from court and finds her house trashed. Concerned it's connected with her current trial case the local police chief calls in the Texas Rangers. Cade Morgan responds - which he is her long ago love and they have a secret they have been keeping. Will Cade be able to protect Tory and her daughter Michelle from whoever is threatening them? Will she and Cade along with the police be able to figure out who is threatening them and committing other murders? Is it all connected to the gang or is someone else behind the murders?

As a Christian, I don’t mind too much if a book is kind of “preachy” but it is also nice when a book doesn’t make the God talk sound unnatural or thrown in. I felt like this book did a pretty good job of not making the whole story center around faith-based issues and just sprinkled it in as a natural part of their lives, although there were a couple conversations that could have been a little smoother in that area.

As far as the actual plot, I thought it was really gripping and surprisingly gritty. I found the teenager to be annoying and angsty, but also not unrealistic. Overall this was a good, suspenseful, short read (although there was some major sappy moments towards the end).

Love lost, not lost just buried

Based around a gang’s criminal activity in a Texas border town, Margaret Daley weaves a story that is suspenseful, exciting, fulfilling, loving, and hard to predict. I always know I will have a good read when I pick up a Margaret daily book. Treat yourself to a gripping story.

Great

A great story that keeps moving and dripping a clue about the attackers. The author keeps the story moving and progressing.
A teen is kidnapped, a house ransacked and a barn burnt by someone. A Texas ranger seems to keep his family safe and to defeat evil.

The suspense angle dominated the book, and the plot was convoluted. I didn't get a lot of emotion from the hero and heroine. Not terrible, just meh for me.

I liked this mystery. There was a good plot, and a twist ending. I felt so sorry for the characters sometimes and how a lie caused a lot of problems. There were some tense moments and it made the book good. I will be reading the rest of the series.

I enjoy books about Texas Rangers, so this one caught my interest from the start. The suspense is almost tangible as Texas Ranger Cade Morgan tries everything he can think of to keep District Attorney Tory Carson and her fourteen-year-old daughter, Michelle, safe while the DA works to get a dangerous gang leader convicted of murder. The situation is particularly difficult for Michelle, the star basketball player on her high school team, because the risk to her and her mother is so intense she is unable to go to school and has to miss several games, plus all the things teen girls enjoy. As the action intensifies and more people are involved, the questions become more difficult to answer. Is the gang leader still controlling his gang’s activities from his jail cell? Is there a mole in the police department, and if so, who is it? What is it going to take to keep Tory and Michelle safe? And what are Cade and Tory going to do about their past? How many more people are going to get hurt? I especially liked Cade’s Uncle Ben, a retired Texas Ranger. He seemed to have it all together and was able to deal quite effectively with Michelle when neither Cade nor Tory could get through to her. I recommend this latest addition to the Love Inspired Suspense line of books. I received a complimentary copy of this book from the author in exchange for my honest review.

High-Risk Reunion : Long Star Justice -Book 1
By: Margaret Daley

High-Risk Reunion is book one in Long Star Justice Series. I am a big fan of Margaret Daley and I have not read any of her books that I have not liked. Ms Daley starts a new series with High-Risk Reunion and she has another winner. She drew me in right at the start and did not let go till the end. She weaved a story that is packed with action, suspense, mystery, forgiveness, and romance. When you start reading High-Risk Reunion be prepared to have some reading time , because once you start you do not want to put it down till the end. This is one of those edge of your seat and way in the night reading because you do not want to put it down till you have read to the end. Tory is a District Attorney and comes home from court and finds her home has been trashed, and thinking that it maybe connected to the gang leader that is in jail and she is trying to put him and his gang away for a long time. She has a fourteen year old daughter, Michelle, who she has to protect. She is the start Basketball player for her school team and does not want to miss her games. Texas Ranger Cade Morgan has been called in to protect Tory and her daughter. There is a past history between Tory and Cade that they are trying to keep a secret. Can Cade keep Tory and her daughter safe ? Cade’s uncle Ben is another character that I really loved in this story. Get your book and a good place to read and hold on tight for your life , because you are in for an action packed time of your life. Can Tory and Cade work together on this case ?
