Carolyn was one of you as a kid, with the intriguing seeds planted in her head of the shivering thrill-thoughts that came with words like spanking, or discipline. As with you, those kinds of words and thoughts connected the heated blush of her cheeks with feelings elsewhere, which got more and more interesting the older she got.

I bet you know just what I'm talking about.

Like some, she started writing down these thoughts, escaping into short stories of reluctant heroes willing to take someone they love in hand when it's for her own good... and more shadowy thoughts as her imagination matured.

And like some, she started sharing her writings in newsgroups once she gained some confidence.

There's nothing like the perfectly-turned phrase, the handful of words that can make a feeling wash over you. And if you're reading this, then you have within you some intense feelings that most of the world doesn't understand -- but Carolyn does, and she writes those passions with wondrous abandon. Her specialties are Spanking Romance and Adult Ageplay, so we've grouped the many examples of her work that way.

Spanking Romance Classics are sweeping love stories which dare (in a very un-PC way) to allow their heroine to feel the special love of a strong man who will take her in hand when it's best for her. Carolyn writes very real, rich characters and stories that aren't just excuses to jump from spanking scene to spanking scene. If the timeless tango of pursuing ardor touches you, and the head-rush of Adoring Discipline intrigues you, then you'll love Carolyn's stories!

This short read starts out fast and hard! There is a LOT of hot, heavy BDSM and at first its pretty much non-consensual...

Faith has just been kidnapped and can't help but feel betrayed by her own body.

The premise was similar to other reads. Female is kidnapped, submits to 'hero' to set a boundary that she is willing to stay, finds a way to escape and BOOM! HEA.
This in a short read was pretty good.

Cord and Faith's sudden change in there feelings and behaviours at the end...

description

I think this was missing something and I don't know if that was because it was a short read but overall, a 3 star rating.

Not really sure how I feel about this one. I guess it was okay. There was some pretty intense non consensual BDSM stuff at first. All very explicitly told then the author shifted to a vague generalization of the sort that says "and during the next two weeks he did this to her and then that with a touch of the other and she hated it all but she did come." So any actual change in her attitude and acceptance of her "darker" desires was not really shown. Another couple of sex scenes that weren't real clear on some details, then she escapes and he finds her in the jungle and helps her get back to the US. That didn't seem in character at all considering we never really saw him change from the very mean man he started out. And he wasn't just one of those grumpy guys but he was truly sadistic so it was hard to believe in his sudden change. Hmm...

This was a really good book that I wish was longer. In a case of mistaken identity Faith Whittaker was kidnapped in Colombia by a drug lord Cordero "El Diablo" De La Fuente his men thought that she was some Senator's daughter a Senator who wants to pass some bill about drugs. Faith tries to tell him who she is but he didn't believe her. Faith is beaten and raped by Cord and she realized that she like it. When he found out that she wasn't the Senator's daughter he didn't let her go or kill her. This book had some very good sex scenes in it and the one with the Tens machine was really good. Cord couldn't get enough of her she was a woman that took everything that he did to her. Faith knew that she had to get away from him although her body wanted to stay so she ran away and ran into the jungle of course Cord found her and instead of taking back to his house he lets her go. When she gets home Faith can't forget about Cord or the things that he did to her. He gives her money that she returned I would have kept it. I didn't like how the book left off it felt like a cliffhanger. This book was well written with no errors in grammar or spelling. I have read this author before and I am looking forward to reading more of her work.

Non-con tale that reads like a 1970s Harlequin Presents novelette; naive blonde woman captured by controlling "ethnic" male and endures much ridiculousness, escapes his clutches and then willingly falls back into them--The End.

Good riddance. And while I do enjoy the premise if executed well, here it is all telling and no showing. The storytelling is old-fashioned and the book was supposedly published first in early 2010--okay...not my cup of tea stylistically or thematically.

One plus, I didn't actually despise Angel, I know--that is her name--enough to wish for her death. And Cord is just a hulking brooding male pumped with testosterone with nothing much to recommend him besides his bank account.

Granted, it's hard to develop a HEA story around a kidnap victim who is a case of mistaken identity and a violent drug lord, but the sexual dynamics between the characters kept me reading. I'm not sure where else this story could have gone, but the abrupt [and unsatisfying ending] is the reason for just 3 stars.

WAS HE GOING TO BE DR. JEKYLL OR MR. HYDE

Carolyn Faulkner can pen some disturbing tales of erotic horror; some are created in a dystopian world, but this time, it is modern day, Columbia, South America. The details will leave your shuttering as Faith endures torture at the hand of The Devil. If you are looking for a sweet, happy story, this is not it.

I will be the first to say this is not an easy story to read; it is dark erotic horror, sadomasochistic, not love, but being possessed by an individual purely for their pleasure, no matter how depraved it may be. Faith was kidnapped, abused, raped, dominated, punished and then he controlled her. The story took me out of my comfort zone, and it is not easy to read of the horrors that Faith will endure at the hands of a drug lord, Cordero "El Diablo" De La Fuente. What starts out as a vacation of her dreams becomes a living nightmare, brought about by mistaken identity. Even when he learns that she is not the person they assumed, Cord keeps her for his sadistic pleasure. A place where he’d found that perfect balance between pain and pleasure, guiding her to it each time, unerringly. Where will it end for Faith?

“With everything she’d been put through in the weeks that she’d been with him, bound and unbound, in pain and in ecstasy, this had been the most demeaning, most demoralizing thing he’d done to her so far, and she was terrified that he intended to repeat the incident with some regularity.”

This book could have been so much better if it were longer and didn't end so abruptly or at least if it would've had an epilogue. I'm a sucker for the "girl gets kidnapped and falls for her captor" storyline which is probably why I gave it 4 stars instead of 3. Faith Whittaker is a 32 year old American tourist vacationing in Columbia. One day she goes shopping in an outdoor market and she gets knocked out and kidnapped. When she wakes up she's naked and her arms and legs are tied to a bed in a dingy basement. Cordero De Lafuente aka "El Diablo" is a very rich and powerful Columbian drug lord. He's trying to stop US Senator Alexander from getting a drug bill passed through Congress. His plan was to kidnap the Senator's daughter, Sherry and use her as leverage against the Senator. His men spot Faith in the market and think she is Sherry Alexander as the two women look similar so they kidnap her and bring her to Cord's compound.

I had a hard time getting into this book for two reasons.
1. I found it to be implausible. A hard core drug lord used to kidnapping and hurting people knows she's different the first time he looks at her? I prefer the buildup and watching the changes that people make throughout the story.
2. The story also jumped around a lot between points of view to the point that it was a little hard to follow who's thoughts you were reading. It was also sometimes hard to tell if something he was talking about happened before what she had just talked about. Parts were written in a pretty train of thought type way.

"i am Cordero Ricardo Alexandre Guillermo De La Fuente"

That. is a long name. So i guess he was nicknamed 'El Diablo'

Ok, officially over his long name.... goodness gracious! this book made me hot!! i am also a sucker for kidnapping and BDSM ( and mostly what was in this book). The mistaken identity didnt really last long in the story and i was happy with that. despite the warnings of triggers and that (because there are definitely some in there) i actually found cord very sweet towards faith, especially on the last chapters. I wished it had an epilogue tho...

all in all it was great but the ending was a bit abrupt.

I was looking for something trashy and this did just that 🥴 it’s more dark “romance” if you consider abduction and 🍇 “romance.” It does satiate the BDSM fantasy for those who are into that but too shy to admit it. Was there a good plot? No. Was there a lot of plot holes? Yes. Was the ending good? No. Was it entertaining? Yes. This book would be the epitome of “book 🌽”

Not a bad book but I did not like the ending it was incomplete to me Cordero wasn't a bad guy even though he was a drug lard and Faith she had a little spirit to her both characters were likable but not wow. As i have said the story was ok but i did not like the ending I think more should have been said but that's just my opinion maybe some one else will think different.

A short story of kidnapping, severe punishments, and extreme sexual pleasures. The story of Faith and Cord is a BDSM story – there is a good story behind the sex and punishments and enough development of the characters to help you understand them, even if what is happening in the story is sometimes beyond the taste of some of us.

By far my favorite among forced/non-con story I've read.

This story is just short. I'd hoped for it to be a bit longer on the end part. I'd wanted to know more about MCs' life after.

But all in all, I love the story.

This story deals with a bad case of mistaken identity and all the problems that come with it. This is definitly not for the faint of heart as it deals with noncon and sexual torture.

5*
I’d give it more *’s if I could. I loved this story, and am already planning on re-reading it.
It’s just got everything I love; all my fantasies were brought together here, in this one book.
There is a gorgeous, dirty, bad, tough, strong, never-changing and kinky as hell, Alpha male hero; swoon. Pretty heroine (who quickly becomes ‘beautiful’ in the eyes of the man who is ‘beholding’ her), who is strong but deliciously ‘pliant’; who knows her own mind. She’s no fool but no GI Jane either.

Gilded Cage has a brilliant, believable and real story/plot. It has excellent writing; tight and lyrical; some beautiful pieces here to drool over too. The pace is fast and furious; never dull. At. All. Action and more action; pain and more pleasure. There’s a kinda HEA for those like me who prefer one, although it’s not as ‘clean cut’ as I’d prefer. I’d love, love, love to know what happens next, but Miss Faulkner has no time to write a sequel, as she’s continually churning out these luscious stories for us. Sadly, as I can only imagine what journey she’d take these two lovers on, in a sequel.

I recommend this book to all those that love a bit of ‘Non-Con’, that turns into ‘More-Please’, and hurry up or I’m going to die.

I've reread it umpteen times since first reading it on 6 September 2016; never tire of it. LOVE IT. ❤️ 🌹💯❤️👏💕

Not sure about the non-con sex etc, but I suppose Cord redeemed himself eventually.
Faith was a good, strong character recognising her need for pain as well as the orgasms.

Not much to say about the overlying story adequate as it may be.
