With her past confronting her head on, a game of tug of war is being played with her heart and Orchid is faced with having to make the most difficult choice of her young life. Will she choose to revisit her past or move forward with her plans to marry Khalil? But all is not as it seems. As more drama unfolds and alliances are questioned, deep dark secrets from the past are revealed once again threatening her family and any chance she has at happiness. Once again life has thrown Orchid a curve ball, but will she be able to again garner the strength needed to fight for her happiness and those she loves?
I'm not sure how i feel about this story. The pace was steady. The characters remained the same. Orchid's character is still whining. I don't know anything about the characters and we're 2 books into the series. Areas that should not have been glossed over were glossed over or hurried along with one sentence. Things that you could have shortened or just implied were stretched out. This book had very little substance to me. Also a beta readers and proofreaders need to be involved. The errors were so very distracting. I would have like to have more than just sex and weed be the highlights of this story as well as a better explanation of why D was gone for 10 yrs. The reason was given, but it was flimsy at best. When he was "released" the same threat still loomed over them. Why did he need to be gone for 10yrs to protect them? Because nothing changed in that time, except Orchid's personal situation. Not being able to make a move until they "blew some trees" for breakfast, lunch, a snack and dinner was too much. It was such a turn off as was her character as a whole.
This part had me laughing and crying. First I gotta say that I'm loving this story. It was nonstop action and drama from beginning to end. I was torn in the beginning with the choice Orchid had to make but her and D really belong together. I didn't feel like his comeback was done as dramatically as it could of been and his reason for being gone seemed kind of flimsy to me. But the story going forward was still so well done, it made up for that. It seemed like every time things were going good for them, something bad happened. I was feeling bad for Kahlil but he started acting shady. I can't wait to see what happens next. Now I know he and Keon aren't blood brothers but they did kinda grow up together but Keon doesn't seem to show the love. After all, he did push for Orchid to give him a chance. Oh and I just love Lil D, he is too funny. I hope part 3 is out, I need to read it right now.
