I'm not much for romance novels, but I'm a total pushover for a mystery, especially one that reaches into the past! I've been reading a lot of heavy novels lately, so this one was a refreshing break. There's plenty of breezy dialogue and interesting characters, but the focal point is our protagonist, Kylie Branson's new home. It carries enough secrets and stories to count as a character on it's own. I enjoyed the unfolding of everyone's stories.

Not gonna lie, I wasn't expecting much from this book when I decided to give it a try via Audible Escape. To my surprise, I was utterly charmed by the intriguing story and lovable characters; I also appreciated the humor. Honestly the only thing keeping me from giving this five stars is that it wasn't longer! There was so much going on, three or four different couples and all their personal drama, that it felt like we just skimmed the surface. There was enough material for a full-length novel here, maybe more than one. It's actually a testament to Dickinson's skill that it didn't feel rushed or crammed, just...small, I guess. So yeah, I really enjoyed this book and wish it could have been more fleshed out.

Audible:A good story with some romance,mystery and maybe a bit of magic. Kylee buys a house that was once a restaurant run by the mob.There are tunnels under it and now its secrets are coming to light. Jack de Golia was a fine narrator.I was given this book by the narrator,author or publisher free for an honest review.

Harbor Springs a summer playground town for the rich, a house that has a past of a gang residing there. Secrets of the past still linger, much to the dismay of Kylie when things keep happening. Fire Chief Jason seems to be close by when she needs help. Cute romance, and good narration. Given audio for my voluntary review and my honest opinion

A quick and easy read with like-able characters

Let me start with two items unrelated to the story proper:
1) I know the author
2) This is not the kind of fiction I typically read (technically I listened to this as an audiobook).
With that preamble I will start with the positives for this book. I think the story moves at a brisk pace, but not rushed. The historical parts are interesting with out going overboard with what would effectively be superfluous details.The characters are presented with enough depth to know who they are, with out either going into unrelated (and unneeded) details. No character is overdeveloped related to its import to the story.
Where this book missed for me is in two aspects. While sufficiently developed I found the characters very predictable in how they fit into their story element; I did not feel there were aspects of the characters that had sufficient mystery to leave me surprised with how they developed in conjunction with the story. The other aspect is that the story had no particular hooks that managed to catch on. In all fairness as I stated above this is not my kind of fiction, so this is certainly a YMMV comment on the story.

I finished it LOVED the peaple and the story line of this book would Love to read more of her book and suggest that others to read her work :)))))))
