Wyoming Rebels #4

A Real Cowboy Never Walks Away

Rate this book
Nine brothers who stand by each other no matter what, even when all hell breaks loose…which it often does when the Stockton cowboys are around.

Country music superstar Travis Stockton used his music to escape the Wyoming town that betrayed him as a youth, but all his money and fame can't chase away the nightmares that still haunt him. When he returns to his hometown for one final concert, he discovers that coming home is a hell of a lot harder than he'd thought...until he meets a sassy but weary single mom who needs the one thing from him he can't give, the one thing that no one else has ever wanted…himself.

Lissa McIntyre has worked hard to rebuild her life after being abandoned when she was seventeen and pregnant. After relocating to Rogue Valley, she finally feels like she belongs, for the first time in her life. She's got a great kid, and her Wildflower Café is a town favorite. The one thing she doesn't have is a man, and she intends to keep it that way. Who can afford to fall for a man who might walk away? Not her. She has no interest in men…until a dangerous, moody cowboy sits down at her deli counter and changes everything.

Can two battered souls find happiness with each other, or will the trauma of their past keep them apart forever?

I loved this story about the youngest Stockton brother, Travis. He is a famous country singer running from his troubled past. Travis decides to come back to his hometown to perform at the fair. Little did he know that he would have to finally face his demons and decide if he can trust and love the wonderful woman that has come into his life. Lissa is a single mom who has been rebuilding her life for the past eight years since she left her horrible life behind.
Travis and Lissa's love story made me feel so many emotions. Their story is one that will stay with me for a long time.

I don't know how she did it but Stephanie Rowe has raised the stakes with A Real Cowboy Never Walks Away. It is the fourth book in the series as the author continues to captivate readers with raw emotion and sweet romance. Travis and Lissa's story is another heartbreaking chapter in the Wyoming Rebels. I didn't want to put it down.

At heart this book was a sweet and touching love story, but it was the characters that had me completely enthralled. Travis was a complex and damaged character who desperately need to connect with someone. Lissa was absolutely the perfect woman for him. Stephanie Rowe made them kindred souls and gave them a true deep connection but the trust took a little longer to build. They went on guarding their hearts until the very end.

I absolutely felt engaged in this beautiful love story. It was wonderful and I just loved

The Stockton brothers abusive childhoods left big scars on their souls and none thought they were worthy of love and vowed to avoid it. Its taken women who are just as broken as they are to heal their hearts and the journey is all the sweeter as each couple has helped the other heal on their way to finding that lasting love.

Travis Stockton is the youngest of the 9 boys. In some ways he had it the worst until Chase (the oldest) finally put an end to their tyrant of a father. Travis left when he was 18 and never planned to go back. He became a Country music superstar and used his music to exorcise his demons. For years that worked for him, but now that he has agreed to do concert in his home town he realizes that the demons are winning and nothing is taking away the nightmares of his past anymore. In wanting to avoid fans and reporters he hides out in the Wildflower Café not knowing that the owner would be the light to all his darkness.

Lissa McIntyre mother was a loose woman and never knew who her father was. She vowed early in life that she would never sleep with a man that didnt have forever on his mind. So had big plans for her life but unfortunately found herself knocked up at 17 and the father who she thoughtwas her forever man ended up running off to live his dreams leaving her to be a single mom. She moved to Rogue Valley started a business and swore off men. All she wants is to give her daughter everything she didnt have growing up. She has stuck to this rule for 9 years, that is until Travis Stockton walks into her Cafe.

Travis and Lissa immediately recognized that the other person filled a void in them. But the old scars left them both leery about any form of commitment. Travis really had a tough time conquering his demons.

Along with the main couple of the story we do get to see how the 3 other brothers are doing that have found their women and also meet some of the other brothers who've yet to have their story. This series is defiantly full of angst but it worth the read to see how these characters all finally come to deal with their past and allow love into their lives.

All of Stephanie's "Wyoming Rebels" are amazing, but this one was probably my favorite. There was just something so sweet about Travis...no matter how much he may try to deny it. Lovely story, lovely couple.

Just when you think the Stockton brothers can't get any better, Stephanie Rowe gives us Travis Stockton! YUMMY!!! This is a great romance story with a hot and sexy cowboy who also happens to be a country music superstar - I mean you can't get a better combination than that! Like all the other Stockton brothers, it's the love of a good woman that completes him and helps put the demons of his childhood to rest. Beautiful story full of emotion and depth and wonderfully written.

I know my feelings about books are related to what is going on in my life at the time (very angsty right now), but this one really didn't do it for me. I just thought the hero/heroine were too old for me to want to tell them to grow up. We all have romance drama in our lives and to decide after one bad ending that you will never have another romance is ridiculous.
I will probably add another of these to me to read list but it might take me awhile to get around to it.

Another fabulous story!!!

I really enjoyed getting lost in the Stocktons and Travis and Lissa. Two people broken by their pasts, yet not ready to give up.

Stephanie Rowe is one of my favorite writers because she has a way of making her characters come alive in the pages of their stories. They are far from perfect and often make mistakes, but always have each other's backs. The Stockton brothers have had horrible childhoods yet they are there for each other. Though they think they don't know how to love, they are desperate to be loved and to show love.

Lissa a single mother betrayed by love, isn't ready to fall in love and have her heart broken again. She has her daughter and her cafe, and is happy. But the more she gets to know the man behind the star, the more she realizes she wants that connection. Of course her ex, after disappearing for eight years also wants to reconnect.

Travis will have to overcome his inability to trust, and Lissa will have to be willing to risk her heart again

Enjoy reading A Real Cowboy Never Walks Away, it will make you feel happy and want to become a Stockton too.

Leaving the Past Behind

Travis Stockton left his home at 19 to make it big as a country music singer. He is now a superstar, but he can't seem to leave his horrid and abusive childhood behind. He's returned to his hometown for a concert on his tour. His abandonment issues, childhood memory terrors and inability to trust are leading him down the road to severe depression and the end of his career. Until he walks into the Wildflower Cafe and finds the cafe owner Lisa McIntyre in dire straits and he finds he has to help her. And so, Travis finds himself drawn to the single mom cafe owner. Her refreshingly earnest, honest and independent demeanor pulls him in. Now if he can overcome his inability to commit it'll all be fine. Fortunately, Travis has support from 5 of his 9 Stockton half-brothers to set him straight about Lissa and what she means to him.

Another amazing brother

Another amazing brother finds his heart in this awesome story. I'm in awe of the emotions Stephanie manages to get in these stories. I've smiled, laughed, cried from happiness and sadness, and even felt the love flow through me while devouring this series! I'm so glad that I started after most of them were released because I've read four in two days and have been trying to read slowly. Travis is such a down to earth guy for a superstar and with everything he's been through he deserves to find an awesome woman like Lisa. This family will be hard to leave behind and I will definitely be revisiting them frequently!

Love Conquers Pain

*** May cause PTSD triggers***

The Stockton brothers made it to adulthood, now they are trying to actually survive their demons. So many feels in this story and it feels like you are trying to swim upstream while drowning. When they go to their father's gravesite will pull at your heart.

Lissa and Travis have to rely upon each other and that is their biggest demon. Trying to learn someone has your back is a tough lesson to learn when others have let you down ~

Travis just doesn't feel like he's on the right path with his music anymore. He has built up rage and anger over his childhood and mistrust of women. He doesn't really feel at home anywhere until he meets restaurant owner and single Mom, Lissa. Lissa is trying to stay afloat and build a good business for herself and her daughter Bridgette. One stormy night Travis enters her restaurant because it appeared empty and he wanted to be alone and have a meal. I absolutely loved watching Lissa and Travis's story unfold. This book kept my attention from cover to cover!

A Real Cowboy Never Walks Away

Travis has never gotten over his childhood. Even being a super star country singer doesn't fill that void. Nothing does until he meets Lissa. But he can't stick around yet he finds himself unable to leave. Lissa avoids men. Raising her daughter and running the restaurant is enough for her until Travis walks in the door.
Love the Stockton men. Each one is broken but when they fall in love everything changes.

Just when you thought you could not love another Stockton brother more than the last, Travis Stockton comes along. He was looking for something, thought he wasn't going to find it that existing was the way of life under he walked in the Wildflower Café and Lissa smiled at him. They both need one another and this is their journey. The brilliant weaving of the other brothers and their lives just adds to beauty to the story line. It's beautiful, it's heart warming and it's inspiring.

Travis has been loss hurt and broken by woman. Country music star is not as satisfying as he thought. Walking away from it all helped but punching a leather bag helped more... until he stopped in to the cafe and helped Lissa.
Lissa cafe was so busy recruiting the guy at the counter seem like the right thing to do.... how knew he was a broken County Singer.

Music isn't working for him

Travis wading his hometown to do the fair and see his brothers, but he is just not himself. Lissa is running her restaurant and raising her daughter alone. When Travis walks into her diner he was just going order and eat it in his truck he didn't want to deal the fans outside of the hotel. But her smile did something to him.

Stephanie has done it again! She made me relate to and feel for her characters. Travis is a worn out country music star with an intense background. He finds Lissa, a woman forced into independence and solitude in order to survive. They both have grit, baggage and success against the odds in common. Their love story is tender and hard all at the same time. It’s a great book to get lost in.

A Real Cowboy...

I swear each book gets better and better. Having met four of the brothers so far you can feel the relationships growing. Love of a good woman and brotherly love just warms my heart. The relationships in Travis's life have been draining the life right out of him till Lissa. Two broken people finding what they need in each other. What a delightful read.❤

A sweet country melody

I love the story, and of course I love the characters! I got a little bored in the beginning with their relationship. The writing is good, and I love the insight this author has on life, and the profound little gems of wisdom she encloses in her tales.

Highly recommend this book and all in the series.

Travis spent years viewing his music as an escape from his life, the memories, the nightmares, all of it. Once he achieved his dream however, it was only a matter of time before his stage persona became it's own sort of trap. But he didn't fully realize that he wanted to be done with it all until he agreed to return to his hometown for their annual Founder's Day Festival. The crappy weather, all the girls and women vying for his alter ego, not for the man he truly is, and the town itself, the one that had scorned him so long ago, it's just too much at once. He thought facing his hometown head on as the famous singer, Travis Turner, would vindicate himself, thereby finally freeing him from his past. He was wrong. He still views it through his own eyes as Travis Stockton.

Travis just needs to hide out for the night, have some space, and not deal with his famous side, where everyone wants something from him, or his personal life by staying on his brother, Chase's, ranch. The ranch would just bring his past too close to the surface and he can't handle it right now, regardless of how badly he might want to see his brothers and their families.  Deciding to sleep in his truck, his own little cocoon, he visits the Wildflower Café for food before settling in for the night. His plan to grab food to go quickly changes upon seeing Lissa. She allows him to see past her public facade and he recognizes in her what he tries to hide from others. He also doesn't want to leave her alone as the place quickly fills with cowboys in town for the festival.

Lissa is exhausted, wishing she could close her business down for festival week and enjoy the activities with her daughter, Bridgette. Unfortunately, she needs the money so she stays open. The one bright spot of her day is the sexy customer with the magic voice. She avoids men on any type of personal level like it's an Olympic sport, yet something in her wants to sit and just listen to him talk. But, as she's working by herself since her waitress decided to elope, Lissa knows if she can't stay on top of everything, word will get around this week and she'll lose the income she desperately needs. When the owner of said magic voice offers to help by being the cook, she hesitates because he's a complete stranger, but upon learning he's one of Chase's brothers, she gladly accepts. At the end of the night, as they're relaxing with dessert, Lissa, still unaware of who Travis is during the day. asks if he'd like a job for the week. Travis yearns to say yes, but knows he can't due to his obligations as his alter ego.

Unable to let their night end with that disappointment, not to mention the kiss that almost happened hanging between them, Travis takes the time to talk to Lissa about it. What results is an experience, a short make-out session, that although magical, was all too short. Neither wants to let the other go, knowing there is something special brewing between them, but they both have obligations and have made the decision to not get involved in relationships for the time being. However, it doesn't stop either of them from wishing things could be different, that they could explore this attraction between them.

Yet, Travis can't stay away from her. She allows him the ability to breathe, to not feel like he's drowning due to his life. As for Lissa, Travis makes her feel special, like she's someone worth knowing, instead of unworthy like she had been made to feel her whole life. They decide the attraction, the connection, between them can't be denied and they give in, knowing it's only for the week, even if they both wish it could be more.

As they spend more time together, Travis is able to escape his reality when he's with her, yet he's still surrounded by the memories of his past and struggling with his present. While Travis is left feeling lost regarding his lot in life, Lissa is confronted with her past in the form of her ex, Rand, Bridgette's Dad. But Rand let's her know that he doesn't want to only be a part of her past anymore, he wants to be her future, and he knows he messed up by letting her go. He wants a second chance and is determined to win her back.

Does Rand have an ulterior motive? Or is he sincere in wanting a second chance with his family? Can Travis let go of his past and embrace the fact that he isn't his father, that he's a good man and people, the ones that matter, see that goodness in him? Will Travis fight for what he wants? What does he truly want? Is it to enjoy making music again or starting a life with Lissa and Bridgette? Can he have both? Will he get the chance at a HEA with her? Or is he too late?

One-click now to see what happened in both of their pasts, causing each of them to erect a barrier that the other must get through before they can fully explore what's growing between them. Please keep in mind this is book four in a series and while each could be read as a standalone, I highly recommend reading them in order for the sake of continuity and full enjoyment of the characters. Now I'm off to wait in eager anticipation for the next Stockton brother to discover his future.

Wow, this series is great. I really did not want this story to end. Travis and Lissa were only outdone by Bridg. Sure hope there is more of all these wonderful characters.
