From the authors of the popular and bestselling Godwink series comes a new and inspiring collection of true stories about people whose lives were changed by specific and extraordinary answers to their prayers.
Prayer is a universal concept that anyone can do. It simply involves conversation between you and God, and oftentimes brings incredible and astonishing results. The outcomes are called “answered prayer.” Yet, with no alternative word in the English language for answered prayer, readers have begun to fill the void with Godwink, which is now making its way into dictionaries.
In The Godwink Effect , SQuire and Louise, husband and wife, make the case that Godwinks and prayer are inextricably intertwined. Simply put, the first of seven secrets for more Godwinks is to pray. Moreover, when a Godwink occurs, like a pebble tossed into a pond, there are subsequent ripples that touch the lives of others.
Typical of all Godwink books, this volume is packed with amazing real-life stories about ordinary people, as well as some well-known figures, that reinforce the power of prayer in their lives and the Godwinks that followed.
“When I pray, coincidences happen. When I don’t, they don’t!” William Temple
In The Godwink Effect, SQuire Rushnell and Louise DuArt reflect upon the cause of Godwinks to receive more of them. Moreover, “typical of all Godwink books, this volume will be packed with amazing real-life stories…, that reinforce the power of prayer in their lives and the Godwinks that followed.”
SQuire Rushnell and Louise DuArt deconstruct Godwinks, synchronicities or coincidences, whatever you call these experiences, into seven aspects to focus on to receive more of them.
Secret #1: Pray & Secret #2: Ask
“Prayer is telephoning to God and intuition is God telephoning to you.” Florence Scovel
Godwinks are connected to prayer as it impresses the subconscious mind with good; praying cleans and restores the soul.
We focus on a constructive thinking when we pray, as we align with infinite intelligence, we let this force work for us the moment we step out of the way. However, it’s important to have prayer as a habit instead of praying on times of despair out of desperation.
Find the method you feel comfortable with as long as you “stop thinking about the difficulty, whatever it is, and think about God instead.” Emmet Fox
SQuire Rushnell and Louise DuArt recommend partnered prayer: the habit of praying with another person.
Because of free will you have to ask first to receive. “Ask and it will be given to you.” Secret #3:Believe & Secret #4:Expect
To have faith that everything will be OK in moments of despair is difficult when we haven’t created the habit of prayer, and let God battle for us.
If you think you don’t have enough faith, think again, “you have used faith in poverty to keep yourself in want. You have used faith in limitation to hold your talents back.” Ruby Nelson
You have mastered to have faith, now you have to practice having faith in a good outcome.
“How can you change your expectancies, when you have formed the habit of expecting loss, lack or failure? Begin to act as if you expected success, happiness and abundance; prepare for your good.” Florence Scovel Shinn
Secret #5:Signs & Secret #6:Wonders
“During uncertain and trying times, God winks at you with signs that provide comfort and reassurance.”
SQuire Rushnell and Louise DuArt point out Godwink wonders leave us wide-eyed and open-mouthed. Secret #7:Divine Alignment
“Right from birth, we come equipped with a highly sophisticated navigational package that-through an internal voice of intuition and godwinks- divinely aligns us with people, as well as events, who assist us in reaching our destiny and keep us from losing our way.” Divine Alignment
I would consider these ideas as principles more than secrets, but I guess secrets work best for marketing purposes. SQuire Rushnell and Louise DuArt have been consistent with these ideas in all their Godwink books. What’s new? New real-life stories pertinent to every secret they write about.
I’ll add forgiveness to the list. SQuire Rushnell and Louise DuArt write about gratefulness, but also forgiveness is an important part of the process to receive Godwinks and answered prayers.
“Get by yourself and become quiet. Repeat any prayer or treatment that appeals to you, or read a chapter of the bible. Then quietly say, I fully and freely forgive X (mentioning the name of the offender); I loose him/her and let him/her go. I completely forgive the whole business in question. As far as I am concerned, it is finished forever, I cast the burden of resentment upon the Christ within me. He/She is free now, and I am free too. I wish him/her well in every phase of his/her life. That incident is finished. The Christ Truth has set us free. I than God… Afterward, whenever the memory of the offender or offense happens to come into your mind, bless the delinquent briefly and dismiss the thought.” Emmet Fox
Some stories are bittersweet, these stories help to deal with grieve and to have hope in worst case scenarios as we learn from how others cope with difficult situations.
Several stories deal with medical conditions and how prayers were answered in these situations with medical procedures. However, I would like to add to consideration a change in diet can cause miracles too, look for an expert in the area, and work on prevention.
I have three books from these series and the real-life stories are what I focused the most. In moments of despair, it helps to read any of these stories to lift the spirit.
ARC REVIEW -The post 7 Secrets to God's Signs, Wonders and Answered Prayers appeared first on Rosaelenad.com
I love to watch Hallmark movies. I recently saw a promo for a new Hallmark Christmas movie based on "the best selling Godwink series". I had never heard of this series of books and was anxious to see what they were. A Godwink is an answer to a prayer, one in which you are in the right spot at the right time, the right person is there when you need them most, a situation changes in your favor. This is very uplifting book with wonderful true stories of faith and of God in our lives. The seven secrets are not really secret..keep God in your life, pray, believe and have some faith.
Wonderful stories. I was taught that God does answers all prayers. However, not particularly in the way you ask for or want! He gives you what He knows is best for you. We certainly can not understand His wisdom. The book encourages prayer, but prayer like writing a letter to Santa. When we ask in prayer, it should be,"Not my will, but Thine be done."
However, all that being said, the book is uplifting and does encourage a relationship with God (even if it is a bit selfish), and is fun and easy to read. It is a good read.
HIGHLIGHTS: 1. Godwink is when someone experiences an answered prayer.
2. When I pray, coincidences happen.
3. Sometimes you hear an inner voice that seems as clear and as distinct as the words to a song inside your head. - You feel a powerful innocence that you need to do some thing.
4. Godwinks happen when you allow them to happen.
5. God will often, not just nonverbally, lead us to do some thing he wants us to do or be where he wants us to be.
6. Godwinks are simply encouragers, reminding you that God is at your side. When you remember that God is always there, your decisions are more likely to result in a proper course of action.
7. Divine alignment: God divinely aligns us with other people so that we are at exactly the right place at exactly the right time, and he uses these Godwinks in the unfolding of his plan.
I read this book a little while ago ,while I didn't remember the details I do remember that I enjoyed. It encourages me to pray and that God always answers my prayers. I may not get exactly what I want when I want it but God is listening. It made me realize that when something good happens when I need it is not just a coincidence it is a God Wink! Reading this book helped me notice God Winks in my life and when I notice them I am grateful and have a better attitude.
Awesome reminder that God is always with us. We just need to pay attention to the Godwinks.
“Coincidentally (not)” how I came about this book was that I was looking at previous books I read and tracked here in Goodreads and I saw that I read a Godwink book years ago by SQuire Rushnell and enjoyed it. As I sit in the library wondering what book to check out I searched if there was another Godwink book currently available on the shelf and sure enough there was! That’s how I found this one!
I had never heard of the Godwink effect, but I always say that coincidences are when God chooses to remain anonymous. Godwink describes it effectively!
I loved this book and loved everyone’s stories in them. If you ever think deeply about “coincidences” and why things happen the way they do, I highly recommend!
I've experienced many Godwinks in my life - they were often life-changing. I suppose people might consider them coincidence or luck but I believe it was God and His angels at work.
