Here's a weird one: the 13th volume of a rare Zodiac-themed 80s YA series about a club of high school girls (all different signs) who get together to... talk about their horoscopes, eat dips, and gripe at each other, as far as I can tell. This series-concluding volume centers on the clumsy but bull-headed attempts of Jessica (Virgo ♍️) to lose her virginity at all costs so that her friends will take her seriously and stop treating her like a baby by telling her to put on sunscreen before she burns. After her plan to place a personal ad for a dalliance quickly loses steam, enter Peter the pizza boy: charming, handsome, unattached, and in possession of a private family lake house. Now if only Jessica can learn about what birth control is and stop being maimed by horseflies, she'll be all set for the ::experience:: 😉 of a lifetime! ✨ It's written in the stars ✨

Not since the film Chasing Amy has a group of so-called "FRIENDS" been so upset at a woman for trying to get some dick.

3.5 — I actually think this book is ADORABLE but Jessica doesn’t seem to have many Virgo traits, if any! Also, she should be arrested for PIZZA CRIMES — who orders an ONION PIZZA???? Definite manic pixie dream girl vibes for that one, Jess.

For a romance novel written for teens back in the 80s, this one was really good. It was also nice to see the way the author handled the issue of teen sex. I give the author props for having the character abstain, even though it would have been easier for her to shag her new boyfriend. Perhaps that's unrealistic, but it was refreshing.

A cute little fast read that young adults should enjoy.
