"First Sergeant Joe Vaiking had spent all his adult years in the Army. The Army was his life, he was bred to it, he believed in its disciplines and authority. And he was a Medal of Honor soldier.
So he fought and killed when he had to--and about this he was shrewd, canny, and professional. But he couldn't see killing for its own sake, like Sergeant Ravel Nero, for instance. Or killing because his commanding officer was action-happy.
No one knew better than Joe Vaiking what it meant to disobey orders. But for this man--because he was the best--that was just the beginning."
A shootem up cavalry/indian story that thoroughly entertained this reader. Though the ending could have had an alternate ending, it was unexpected about the main character storyline that could have been written differently to have a ride into the sunset type of ending.
