When pop star Starly Minx freezes onstage during a show, she knows what her guilty conscience is telling her. She has to make things right with her nemesis, Hope Falls’ own Karina Black. And she has to do it without the paparazzi finding out. If only she didn’t have to leave behind the man she’s been secretly pining for—her sinfully hot bodyguard Hunter McGraw.
Hunter just turned in his resignation. He desperately needs to get some distance from the distracting, enchanting Starly and get on with his life. But if she’s going to Hope Falls, he’s going after her. Who else is going to keep her out of trouble? And with two feuding pop stars in the same tiny town, trouble is inevitable.
They can deal with the paparazzi. They can deal with the curious Hope Falls residents. But can they keep their feelings secret from each other? Is that even possible when every touch has them seeing stars?

Starly Minx is on her way to Hope Falls to ask her archenemy Karina Black for forgiveness. The two pop stars have been feuding publicly for a few years, but Starly has a secret that needs to be told. Starly had frozen on stage unable to sing the lyrics to her song, she’s begun to hate her public persona; she decided it was time to make things right, and she vanished. The head of her record label orders Hunter McGraw, her bodyguard to go look for her. Starly has had a crush on Hunter ever since he started his security detail, but nothing ever happened, and it goes both ways. On her way to Hope Falls, Starly has a minor accident that will have an impact on her life and Hunter’s.
SEEING STARS is a fun, light, sexy and sweet romance that had me cheering for the characters! From the hilarious insult-trading between Karina and Starly, to the appealing characters of Hope Falls, and Hunter’s life, everything about SEEING STARS is absolutely delightful. Starly is exuberant and charming, Hunter is more serious but just as endearing in his own way; they make a truly lovely couple. Ms. Bernard totally captivated the pop music world, just as well as that small-town feeling, and the author’s descriptions of Hunter and Starly were so vivid that I could picture them clearly, without any superfluous details. Hunter and Starly can’t resist each other, their attraction was palpable, and the romance felt authentic, and utterly irrestistible; Jennifer Bernard wowed me again! The writing is simply wonderful, eloquent and seamless, with humorous touches, sizzling times and fabulous dialogues, and in spite of being a short read, there is a lot of depth to the story and the characters. SEEING STARS is a novella that packs a lot of punch and will leave you wanting for more!
I received a complimentary copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
Seeing Stars was a fun and entertaining novella in the Hope Falls world. Jennifer Bernard sends a pop princess with her bodyguard on her tail to Hope Falls where she hopes to apologize to another pop princess and make restitution for something she feels guilty about. Seeing Stars was fun, entertaining and just a tad crazy (but in a good way).
Starly Minx is a pop princess on the edge; exhausted and thinking about all the things she's done in her career Starly walks off the stage during a concert and disappears. Her label sends her bodyguard after her, a man who she feels is the only person in her life that understands her and a man she has lusted after since he came to work for her label. What Starly doesn't realize is that Hunter McGraw wants her with a passion and keeping his hands off has been so difficult that he's quitting his job to move on because he can no longer be around her and keep his hands and other body parts to himself.
I really enjoyed this story and it was so easy to feel the connection between Starly and Hunter and once they are in the same space without the pressures of Starly's career they have no problems moving their relationship to a physical one. Hunter is there to back Starly as she sets out to make amends, but he also makes her realize she wants more in her life than the stage, the road, and her career. There were a few moments where her stardom and that of Karina Black, the woman she intends to apologize to, gets in the way but that only made this story more entertaining and was probably very realistic of what happens when someone famous disappears and is found.
It is always so easy to fall in love with a Jennifer Bernard story and Seeing Stars was no different.
Jennifer Bernard at her finest!!! Witty dialogue, steamy chemistry, and emotion that will make you tear up are blended together to create an amazing addition to the Hope Falls Kindle World. Starly Minx is trying to make things right so she can move forward and become the person she knows she is but things no one can see. Hunter McGraw can see the real her and while he's not sure he's the man for her he's not going to stand by and let her make this journey alone. If you're new to the Hope Falls world or the amazing world of Jennifer Bernard Seeing Stars is a great place to start. Ps, Seeing Stars sets up Jennifer's next series Jupiter Point!!!
I love that this book combines one of my favorite fictional towns, Hope Falls, with what is sure to be one of my new favorite cities, Juniper Point. Starly Minx is a famous pop singer on the run. Hunter McGraw is the bodyguard whose been hired to protect her. Starly, or Beatrice as she prefers to be called, freezes one night on stage and decides she needs to make amends with Karina Black, another famous pop singer who has been feuding with Starly for years. Starly knows Karina lives in Hope Falls and decides that is where she needs to go. Hunter has resigned his bodyguard position to head home to Juniper Point to start his life over. His boss manages to get enough information on Starly so Hunter is able to track her down. They both end up in Hope Falls and come across many of our favorite Hope Falls characters. The story manages to set up a new series by the author as well as staying true to all of the things I love about Hope Falls. I loved this story and cannot wait to see what comes next in Jupiter Point.
Hope Falls & Juniper Point, what a great combination! Hunter is Starly Minx, the pop star's bodyguard. He is planning on quitting & moving back to Juniper Point. Before he can do so, Starly takes off & he is tasked with finding her. Starly wants to make amends to Karina Black for "stealing" a song away from her, the song that became Starly's first number one hit. Starly also needs to make amends to Hunter because she feels that she denied him a chance to advance in his career because she had feelings for him.
This book had it all - humor, romance, love, drama! I fell in love with the characters from the beginning. They were well written complex characters that seem to fit each other. Starly was sweet, charming & slightly innocent. Hunter was serious & protective. The plot line moved fast since this is a novella but the plot was well thought out & kept you involved. The scenes between Starly & Karina are hilarious! What a fun, entertaining story! You will love this.
I received an ARC from the author in exchange for an honest opinion.
An excellent fun read with a great fresh voice in on of my favorite fictional towns, Hope Falls. Jennifer Bernard did a great job of staying true to the feel of Hope Falls while introducing us to new fun characters.
Starly Minx is a big time pop star with a guilty conscience. When she can't take it anymore she starts off for Hope Falls to face her nemesis, Hope falls very own Corinna Black, and set things right. Hunter McGraw has been Starly's bodyguard for a while and the whole time she has secretly been lusting after him. Hunter may have handed in his resignation but if Starly is running off to Hope Falls he had too follow after her. He needed some distance from her. Wanting her and not being able to act on those feelings has become unbearable but there is nothing he won't do to keep her safe. It seems thought that wherever Starly goes trouble soon follows.
Wow! Jennifer Bernard has become my go to author for great reads with well written awesome characters, settings you want to visit and story-lines that keep you engaged and quickly turning pages! SEEING STARS is a quick easy read even if you haven't read the Hope Falls series, but be warned once you read this story you will have not one but TWO series you'll want to grab. The first series is Hope Falls, a series written by various authors with several full length and several short stories. Fans will find a setting that pulls all the stories together and SEEING STARS gives you a wonderful introduction to the series and makes you want to visit. The second series is author Jennifer Bernard's Jupiter Falls series that at the time of this release is coming soon. Seeing Stars makes you want to grab the first full length novel in the series NOW.
As you can see by the time it took me to start and finish this book I thoroughly enjoyed it. Jennifer Bernard has done it again. I simply love the ease at which I can get through Jennifer's books. They draw you in from the start and keep you hooked until the end. In this Novella the readers are introduced to Starly and Hunter. Will the "spoiled" star get what is coming to her or will she find true love? And what fun adventures will go along with the ride? I guess you'll just have to read to find out. This novella sets us up for what is promising to be a great new series. If you haven't read Jennifer Bernard before I would highly recommend her. Check out her other series including the Bachelor Firemen of San Gabriel and Love Between the Bases series at jenniferbernard.net!
Starly Minx is a pop star headed to Hope Falls to make amends with her biggest competition. Hunter is her bodyguard sent to find her when nobody knows where she took off to. Starly has always thought that Hunter thinks of her as a spoiled brat but Hunter has always watched out for her and tried to protect her. Hunter recently quit as her bodyguard and just wants to head back to his home town of Jupiter Point but first needs to make sure Starly is okay. After reading this book I am excited to find out more about Jupiter Point and can't wait to read more Hope Falls Kindle Worlds and see what other characters end up in one of my favorite fictional towns, Hope Falls.
You'll be seeing stars after spending time in Hope Falls! Seeing Stars: A Hope Falls Kindle World Novella by Jennifer Bernard was a sweet, sexy glimpse into Starly and Hunter's quick romance. I love spending time in Hope Falls, and you get a good look at a few of Melanie Shawn's characters as well. I can't wait to read more about Jupiter Point.
Hope Falls meets the new town of Juniper Point. Loved the story of Hunter and Starly, great sexy characters! Starly, a musician goes to Hope Falls to make amends with Karina, another music star, when Hunter, her bodyguard shows up, it turns out that they both had hidden feeling for each other. Boy, do they have a sizzling chemistry!!
This book is part of the Hope Falls Kindle World, but can be read as a stand alone. A great introduction into Jennifer Bernards new series set in Juniper Falls. Can't wait to read more!!!
What a delightful book! You will be drawn by Starly and Hunter. Jennifer Bernard has another hit on her hands. Starly is a pop princess who goes AWOL and Hunter is the bodyguard sent to find her. The two have been dancing around their feelings for a while and now being alone together in Hope Falls they are able to explore their feelings. If any two characters belong together...its these two. Throw in some humor and romance...and you have the whole package. I loved every word of it.
Short, sweet, and sexy novella. Starly is a popular singing star who freezes during her latest show. She's been increasingly haunted by some of the things she has done during her career and takes this as a sign to do something about it. She walked off stage and disappeared, intent on doing what is needed without interference or publicity. Hunter is her bodyguard, who has just resigned his position to go back home for a new job.
I loved the opening of the story, with Starly giving herself a pep talk about what she has to do. Her frustration and self-doubt are a perfectly understandable state of mind, as is the distraction that gets her into trouble. That distraction is mainly thoughts of Hunter and the crush she has on him, her unhappiness at his leaving, and belief that he doesn't like her. Meanwhile, Hunter is in pursuit, determined to take this one last chance to keep her out of trouble. He's reached the end of his rope when it comes to denying his feelings for her, but he can't just abandon her.
I loved the development of Hunter and Starly's relationship. Over the past year, they had gotten to know each other fairly well without crossing any lines. Unfortunately, Starly tended toward the more selfish side at the beginning, hence her need to make amends to Hunter. I liked how she appreciated the fact that he treated her like a real person, rather than the attitudes of others around her. I loved how Hunter's protectiveness toward Starly went past normal bodyguard actions. I especially loved the part about the snacks.
Being together outside of their work environment allowed Hunter and Starly to act on the attraction between them. It was fast and furious, but also deeply emotional. I loved seeing them share the hidden parts of themselves. Starly still has some trust issues that rear their ugly heads, but Hunter deals with them in a truly spectacular way. The ending was great, and the epilogue a terrific lead-in to the new series.
I really liked Starly's determination to deal with her past and the tension between herself and Karina. The scene in the coffee shop was hilarious and heartbreaking at the same time. I loved that Starly didn't let that deter her from her mission. I would have liked a little more depth to the confession scene, especially getting some sort of viewpoint from Karina's perspective. The scene with the paparazzi was outstanding.
I really enjoyed this opener for the Jupiter Point series.. Starly is on the run, after she freezes onstage. Hunter, her bodyguard, goes after her. Starly headed to Hope Falls to find Karina Black, another pop star she wants to make amends with. No spoilers, but I will say, I can’t wait to read the Jupiter Point series books and learn more about Hunter’s hometown. This is a fast, steamy read that will hook you from the beginning.
This was a nice story but not for the under 18 readers because of sexual content. The heroine is a star who seems to need a little protection. For some reason, this story was a little harder to get into. There seems to be a lot of trust issues with this story. A lot of reacting before thinking a bit first stirs things up a bit. There is a surprise ending to this. I received this for free and I voluntarily chose to review this. I've given it a 4* rating.
Love the background to how Hunter McGraw got together with Starly Minx. Love to see a full length story on the two to see how things are going with the happy couple. I just love all these books so far.
I really don’t know anything about Kindle World, but it is my understanding that authors open up their successful series and either invite other authors to give their own “spin” on the series or allow want-to-be writers a chance to hone their skills. Seeing Stars is Jennifer Bernard’s addition to Melanie Shawn’s Hope Fall series in Kindle World.
Seeing Stars is the quick romance between pop star Starly Minx and her now ex-bodyguard Hunter McGraw. Starly and Hunter are the creations of Ms. Bernard. From a young age, Starly has had to deal with being in the public eye without truly feeling the love of her family. Hunter has travelled all over and done different things but now feels it is time to go back home to Jupiter Point to help his sister take care of his mother. Starly and Hunter have always been interested in each other, but felt that they weren’t good enough to pursue a relationship with the other person. After Starly thinks that Hunter has betrayed her in the worst way possible, she comes to realize that Hunter has always been there to take care of her, protect her and look out for her best interests. After spending time with Starly after she runs away to Hope Falls in order to “right a wrong” between her and her nemesis, Hunter realizes that he can provide Starly with the love, loyalty and stability that she so desperately craves.
Even though this is a novella and a very quick read, Ms. Bernard packs a lot in her story about the characters, their families and desires that it doesn’t leave the reader feeling as though something was missing. Ms. Bernard always has a way with words whether it’s snappy dialogue or sentimental feel good moments. I loved the banter between Starly, Karina and Karina’s friends when Starly and Karina unexpectedly encounter each other in the cafe and were both called out on the unflattering things they said about each other.
This Kindle World novella allowed me a glimpse of Melanie Shawn’s Hope Falls series which I will definitely be checking out. I have, however, been a Jennifer Bernard fan from the moment I started reading her San Gabriel Firemen series and was not disappointed in her break from her own series to contribute to Hope Falls. Jupiter Point sounds wonderful, and I hope it stars in its own series. I would love for Hunter’s sister to have her own story along with others in the town that we have yet to meet.
If you love Jennifer Bernard, you definitely have to pick up a copy and read it. If you love Melody Shawn, you need to get a copy to see how Jennifer Bernard brings Hope Falls to life with her fun and entertaining writing style. Enjoy!
An amazing sweet short story that never once felt rush, did not feel like a novella, the characters were emotional, and developed, and real. This story is a little like the princess and the pauper. Famous star falls for her bodyguard, bodyguard falls for the famous star. This is the story of Starly and Hunter.
Starly Minx has been in the public eye for as long as she can remember. She is followed, she is written about, and she has a long standing feud with her frien-enemy, Karina Black. When she realizes that she needs to make things right with Karina after freezing on stage, she takes off to Hope Falls to set the record straight and to make amends. What she never counted on was being hunted down by the bodyguard that she wants more than her next breath, Hunter.
Hunter McGraw has been in love with Starly from the moment he layed eyes on her. For over a year he has protected her, guarded her and tortured himself with her nearness, knowing that she was so far out of his league that they were practically on different planets. Before resigning for good, his last job is to go and find Starly, make sure that she is safe and does not get herself into more trouble.
When Hunter and Starly are thrown together to get Starly to Hope Falls, and things heat up between these two, will an old feud, misunderstandings, misleading text messages and the paparazzi come between these two or will they finally get their shot at happiness.
The chemistry between Hunter and Starly is amazing. The fact that both were in love with the other and neither one knew it made this such a sweet love story. Starly's need to make amends with all of the people that she wronged, or thought that she wronged, showed us a vulnerable side to this complex character. The protective nature of Hunter, even with Starly misunderstood what was really happening showed the depth of his love for her, the lengths that he would go to keep her safe, to prove to her that she would always be safe with him.

"Seeing Stars" is written by Jennifer Bernard, and it is part of the A Hope Falls Kindle World. It can be read as a stand-alone novella. It features pop star Starly Minx and her bodyguard Hunter McGraw.
Starly takes an unplanned break after freezing on stage, which causes rumors to swirl as to what happened to the starlet and her unknown whereabouts. She doesn't want the paparazzi to find her. All she wants to do is make amends with fellow superstar Karina Black. She feels guilty about what happened in the past. But what happens when her bodyguard finds her? She's under the impression Hunter doesn't really like her. But that's not true.

"Seeing Stars" was a nice, quick read for me! Jennifer and the sister duo of Melanie and Shawna (aka Melanie Shawn) are some of my favorite authors, so when I found out that Jennifer wrote a novella for the A Hope Fall Kindle World series, I was thrilled! What I loved about it was that we were introduced to Jennifer's upcoming Jupiter Point series, which is where Hunter is from, and we got to see some of our favorite characters from Melanie Shawn's Hope Falls series! Looking forward to seeing what Jennifer has in store for us with Jupiter Point!
"He wanted this woman the way he's never wanted anything else in his life."
This was such a great, quick read!!!
Starly Minx is a larger than life superstar with a huge weight on her shoulders. She needs to let go of her past and come clean to her so-called nemesis, Katrina Black.
The only way to do that is to visit Katrina's small town of Hope Falls. But she won't be going alone.
Hunter McGraw isn't just the man whose protected her as her personal bodyguard. He's also the man that has captured her heart without even knowing it...and vice versa.
"Thank you, Hunter. You're amazing." "Just an ordinary guy." "Oh no, you're not. Not at all. You're the best person I know."
It doesn't take long for these two to lay it all on the table and let their feelings out. But they also must deal with the paparazzi and the underlying feud with Katrina.
In a matter of days, their whole relationship is tested and Starly has to let go of past demons.
Hunter takes care of her the way no one does. No matter what happens, he's there.
"All the barriers and differences between them melted away like sugar dissolving in water. They were just two people who felt right together."
Oh my gee!!! I want more of their story!!!
This just wasn't enough!! I fell in love with them so quickly!! They had amazing chemistry and I loved their bickering.
Such a great read!!!
"If I don't have you seeing stars by the end of the tonight, well...then I'll just have to try again."
Seeing Stars by Jennifer Bernard is one of the entries in this round of Hope Falls Kindle Worlds. This is a wonderful story that follows the music star and her bodyguard falling in love with each other. Our music star, Starly Minx, is exhausted and in the midst of a breakdown. She believes she must make amends with Karina Black, Hope Falls’ resident music star. Hunter McGraw, bodyguard extraordinaire, finds Starly and helps her make amends and keep her safe. Hunter is from Jupiter Point which is not far from Hope Falls and he wants to return there to help out his family. This is the beginning story for Ms. Bernard’s newest series about the town of Jupiter Point.
This was a fun and entertaining story with loveable characters that you want to support and cheer on hoping for that happy ending, while wanting to strangle a couple of others. The characters were well written and complex. The story line was riveting and kept my attention to the very end. I genuinely enjoyed reading this book and had trouble putting this book down, reading it in one day. I highly recommend this book to other readers.
I received an ARC of this book in exchange for a fair and honest review.
I love Melanie Shawn's Hope Falls Series and Jennifer Bernard's addition does not disappoint!!! It was a very amusing, sexy quick read that hooked you right from the beginning with a very good plot and the storyline just flowed. Starly Minx is on a mission, one that leads her to Hope Falls, where Karina Black lives - Starly's nemesis!! On her way there, in a storm things don't quiet go to plan for the pop star. Enter Hunter McGraw. Hunter is Starly's bodyguard, who follows her to Hope Falls to make sure she is safe and stays out of trouble. These two have had feeling for each other for a while now, without the other knowing, and have managed to keep a lid on things. Until the storm, which causes an accident and as they enter Hope Falls things definitely change. But in what way? And can they trust each other? It was an easy flowing read that will make you smile and fall in love with not only Jennifer Bernard's writing but also newcomers to Hope Falls won't want to leave
I'm fairly new to the Hope Falls series. If you love Jennifer Bernard's work and are not familiar with the Hope Falls series, no worries, you don't have to read the series in order to follow along with Seeing Stars.
The chemistry between Starly and Hunter is amazing. The story opens with a conflict, the hero moves in to save the heroine, and the chemistry between the two is very hot, heavy and amazing! Highly recommend this book! If you're hooked on Hope Falls after reading Seeing Stars, by all means, read the series!
Starly Minx is a pop star with a huge heart. She heads to Hope Falls to make things right with her rival Karina Black. Along the way bodyguard, Hunter McGraw, is sent to find Starly and bring her back to her record mogul to finish her tour. Hunter finds Starly and they can't deny where they're headed.
Fun and quick read filled with emotion, tears and passion!
This novella is written by Jennifer Bernard, and it is part of the A Hope Falls Kindle World. It features pop star Starly Minx and her bodyguard Hunter McGraw and can be read as a stand-alone book. As with all of Jennifer Bernard’s books, this one draws you in immediately and keeps you turning the page until the very end. Although this is a novella and short, the characters and plot are still well developed. I fell in love with both of the main characters and thoroughly enjoyed the story. Even if you have not read any of the Hope Falls series, pick up this novella and be introduced to the town. It will only wet your appetite for both Jennifer Bernard’s new series featuring Jupiter Point, but also Melanie Shawn’s Hope Falls series!
Seeing Stars is Jennifer Bernard’s contribution to Melanie Shawn’s Hope Falls Kindle World series. I really enjoyed this novella and it was Ms. Bernard at her finest. It was a fast read and written with the snappy dialogue Ms. Bernard is known for. I enjoyed Starly Minx’s character and her desire to right a wrong she’d made many years ago.
Hunter McGraw was a strong character. Even though at first he didn’t know what he really wanted, he still stuck by Starly’s side. I enjoyed watching him come to terms with that fact that he was in love with Starly.
I look forward to reading the other books in the Hope Falls Kindle World. I’d like to disclose that I received an advanced copy of Seeing Stars in exchange for a fair and honest review.
What a fun read! Starly Minx is a famous pop star who decides it's time to take control of her life and make amends with her competition. Unfortunately, she decides this in the middle of a concert, fleeing the stage and starting on a cross-country road trip. Hunter McGraw has spent the past year as Starly's head of security. When Starly takes off, he goes after her despite quitting his job. When he catches up to her in Hope Falls, his admiration and feelings for her grow. It is fun to watch these two as they work on Starly's mission and realize their feelings are mutual. Though the story is mainly Starly and Hunter, the cast of secondary characters from Hope Falls is a lot of fun and I really enjoyed this story. **I received an Advanced Reader's Copy in exchange for an honest review.
I loved the chemistry between Starly and Hunter and that he can see past the "bad girl" behavior the tabloids accuse Starly of. That's the kind of man you want in your corner....and in your bed! The great thing about Kindle World stories is that they introduce you to new characters while visiting old ones. I thought the combination of Karina and the Hope Falls residents with the rival pop star and her smoking hot bodyguard was seamless and entertaining....it was like they were part of Hope Falls all along. The dialog and interactions were funny and real, just like all the Jennifer Bernard books I've read. Whether this is your first of her books or you're already a fan, you'll love Seeing Stars!
I received an ARC for an honest review...all opinions are my own.
