Andrea Coleman, AKA Dre, grew up on the mean streets of Harlem, NY. Hanging with her drug dealing older brother, she was more partial to boxing and basketball than ballet and Barbies.

Following in the footsteps of her brother, she eventually inherited the block's hustling cocaine trade. That meant thinking like a man. Most men like guns, grenades and girls—Dre was no exception.

With childhood friend Ramel by her side, Dre takes New York by storm. She's gunning for the number one spot and will stop at nothing to get it.

I was gifted this book from a friend and if I could give it 20 stars I would. This book was a great read from the first page until the last and I found myself trying to read it as much as I could. Even though it had all of the elements of a typical urban lit story, it was the dynamic and complicated relationships between the characters that put STUD in a league of it's own. I can't wait until part 2 bc I'm dying to know what's going to happen. My only issue with the book and most of the G street chronicles publications is that it ends around 79% and the rest is filled with promotions. In the end I highly recommend it and Sa'id please dont make us wait too long for part 2!!!

I guess im going to be the sourpuss of the bunch because im not understanding the five star reviews. The author has so many exclamation points that I feel like i'm being yelled at the whole time. The tense of the book kept changing. The "stud" character in the book keeps going back and forth between men and women, but constantly says she hates men and in the beginning of the book denies that she's even a woman. I'm a sucker for urban drug tale filled with scandal and that's what kept me going. The book is entertaining and that's about it. Learning that the author was a male definitely explained a lot about "Dre". I wont be reading anything else by this author.

If you’re a lesbian don’t read this, it’s straight garbage. This male that wrote this book does not know, is not in touch with, is not accurate in his depiction of what it is to be a lesbian and a stud. The story line is trash. Her going back and forth is headache inducing. The plot is all over the place. If you want to read a tedious, unreal, trash book then read this. The audacity to make this a series is ridiculous.

I can't say that I was a fan of this book at all. I really tried to like it but I just couldn't do it. The title is Stud but the main character kept going from gay to straight. To me this threw me off a little. This is the second book I have read from the author And I'm not sure if I will continue reading his books

Stud was a tale of a young lady, Andrea aka Dre who was trained at a young age to act and dress like a male. Dre grows up thinking and acting as if she is attracted to women. Dre and her best friend, Ramel grew up in the streets of New York, running drugs and guns as a means to survive. These very close friends know that they have feelings deeper for one another but are afraid to admit their true feelings. After years of running together, seeing each other being involved with other people and sharing intimate encounters the 2 friends come to realize that they do have deeper feelings for each other. Ramel ends up in jail due to the jealousy and betrayal of Dre's girlfriend and this causes Dre to realize how much she really loves Ramel. I love how Sa'id ended the story and leaves the readers wanting more. I can't wait to see if Ramel does get out of jail and if Dre finally shares her secret with him.

I am half finished with this book and for me its just ok. I was expecting to be blown away with it but I am pushing myself to finish it. I'm on chapter 13 and although its an interesting read, I am let down because I was expecting a BIG PAGE TURNER. Maybe it gets better from the middle to the end, I'll be optimistic!

Ok, so I have finished the book and I will add another half star to my review (3.5). It did get more interesting as I continued to read. The book ended leaving the reader hanging big time but that is fine. If there is a sequel written within the next 12 months I will pick it up to see what happens to Dre and, the baby and her lover. I wish authors would realize that they need to put those sequels out there asap while the readers are still hungry and remember the story lines and each character vividly (hint hint)!

I know from reading different books that Dre is not really true stud material but I loved her and Rah! Dre's on going commentary made for an amusing story but I felt sorry for her and the struggle she had with her sexuality. No matter how much I talked to her, through my kindle, telling her to just go with Rah she wouldn't listen but I could understand her hesitation too. Rah would have never allowed her to be with women like she wanted so that would have been a huge issue.

I liked Dre's character overall. I enjoyed hearing how Dre became Dre and reading about her antics on how she handled her problems. The story wasn't perfect, it could use some additional editing but for me, it did it's job.

This is my first book reading from Sa’id Salaam. The definition of Stud is a person who male or female gay or straight. Stud is a wonderful and excellent read because it’s well written and well characters. This author did a excellent job to put out this book because I enjoyed reading this book. I was confused about Andrea’s character but I will continue to reading this book. Andrea is becoming from gay to straight but she doesn't like to do a girly. This author and book deserve five stars. I will looking forward to read another book and Stud 2 from this author.

Stud by Sa'id Salaam, focuses on main character Andrea aka Dre who tells how she became a stud. The opening is attention grabbing and interesting. I was eager to read her story. The storyline is original, well developed and maintains steam. My favorite character is Malik whom I found very humorous. I enjoyed the ending and looking forward to book 2. Five stars!!! Kudos Author Sa'id Salaam!!!
