Another proofread en route to getting the whole series republished with Speaking Volumes this year.

I didn't remember as much of this story as I had Mission Underground, for some reason. Not sure why. It's still a fun ride with lots of ups and downs. That fungus is horrifying, and I absolutely agree with Varn that he should have burnt off that planet when he had the chance. But the Federation won't do it because they "value the diversity of life in the universe" or whatever--meanwhile this thing devours everything it touches. Yeah, torch it, friends. Torch it.

Anyhow, this volume will be re-released soon, and then -- onto Book 5: Mind Slaver!

Varnt Sogan is a deeply wounded and tormented warrior, which makes him the kind of man that many women (not just Islaen Conner) would consider attractive. In this novel, the author bares some of Varnt's traumatic past for the reader's examination and in doing so, renders him more real, more sympathetic, and most unfairly, more attractive to the reader. I am definitely besotted with the man and I can't help but want the next book in the series.

This whole series is a fun sci-fi romp from an author who is local to me. Worth the read!
