Kelly Florentia was born and bred in north London, where she continues to live with her husband Joe. HER SECRET (2018) is her third novel and the sequel to NO WAY BACK (2017).
Kelly has always enjoyed writing and was a bit of a poet when she was younger. Before penning her debut The Magic Touch (2016), she wrote short stories for women’s magazines. To Tell a Tale or Two… is a collection of her short tales. In January 2017, her keen interest in health and fitness led to the release of Smooth Operator – a collection of twenty of her favourite smoothie recipes.
As well as writing, Kelly enjoys reading, running, drinking coffee, scoffing cakes, watching TV dramas, and spending way too much time on social media.
Kelly Florentia's collection of short stories "To Tell a Tale or Two" are sixteen perfect five minute reads that are truly entertaining and fun to read, each with an individual twist. I particularly enjoyed 'Band of Gold' and 'The Client' although all were great reads. I loved the author's other book " No Way Back" which I also highly recommend and I will definitely be reading more by Kelly in the future.
I don’t feel as though I read enough short stories. It’s not because I don’t enjoy them, but because I don’t feel as though there’s that many available in the chick-lit genre on the whole. So I was really keen to give To Tell a Tale or Two a read. I really liked the idea of a book you can easily just dip in and out of and read when you have a spare ten minutes. I often think I’m going to struggle with short stories and become too attached to certain characters, or not be able to move on from the previous story. However, I didn’t find that problem at all with To Tell a Tale or Two. Easily read in one greedy sitting, or broken down into entertaining ten minute bites (if you can resist not reading it all in one go that is!) there are some absolutely fantastic stories within this collection. They all had satisfying endings; complete with twists in the storyline that’ll have you hooked. There’s something for everyone here – romance, crime, infidelity... Each story deals with something different and there wasn’t one I didn’t enjoy. I think Heavenly Scent was my favourite and it really got me thinking but My Girl also stood out for me in the sense of things not being as expected, as did The Client. It’s a fabulous read and I’m really looking forward to reading a lot more of Kelly Florentia’s work in the future, whether that be in the format of short stories or novels.
I enjoyed this selection of short stories. They were well written and to the point, delivering a story with a twist at the end.
I was a little disappointed that the stories ended around 69% of the way through the book. As I was enjoying them that much. The latter part of the book was dedicated to the first 5 chapters of No Way Back by the Author. Sadly, I haven't read these as it would be too tempting and make me want to buy the book which is the whole point of it. As I have too many other books to read at the moment. Don't let this put you off reading them though if you get the chance to grab this book.
Great selection of short stories with added twists, easy reading and want more of them! Looking forward to maybe another selection from Kelly Florentia soon!
This was a good selection of quick read stories with a little twist to each. Perfect to read when you have 5 minutes to spare. I would recommend them and I will be trying Kelly's full length books
Loved this collection of short stories from Kelly Florentia! There’s something for everyone in this anthology with tales of romance, crime and even a spine-tingling ghostly tale. I loved the author’s modern and engaging writing style. Each story is beautifully told and keeps you enthralled until the lovely twist end. Highly recommended.
I loved this book of books, in fact I need to find more! Each story had its own big moment and one that you didn't see coming each time. I was able to read this in one sitting as I had some time. I look forward to more of these from Ms Florentia , but will read her new novel in the meantime
This is a wonderful collection of short stories to suit all reading tastes. I usually read short stories when I have not got much time but this book I gobbled up in one sitting. I thoroughly enjoyed the twists in each of the tales.A really enjoyable book that I recommend to anyone . Loved it!
I hugely enjoyed this collection of short stories by Kelly Florentia. Having loved her novels, 'No Way Back', and 'Her Secret', I was excited to read these shorter fictions, which I found offered the same attention to detail, scene-building, relatable characters, and convincing dialogue.
Each tale ends with a twist, and for the vast majority I could not see it coming, or indeed what it would be. Very skilfully done, all told, and they made you rethink the story, as well as your own expectations. The stories are constructed with admirable economy, and the characters are fully-fleshed, despite minimal description - you can just see them, and sense what kind of people they are.
My three favourite stories in this collection are: 'Band of Gold', 'The Client', and 'My Girl'. These, in particular, took me by surprise, or else ended on a very affecting note.
Some of the twists even leave room for doubt, such as 'I heart you', the final story in the book.
I heartily recommend these stories and, moreover, suggest you then go on to read Kelly Florentia's excellent novels! You'll be glad you did.
I discovered that each story had a little unexpected twist. Even after noticing that with the first couple, it wasn't too easy to spot them in subsequent stories! I was almost always caught by surprise (in a good way). Very enjoyable! I look forward to more from this author. :)
A collection of short stories, and yes they were very short, a lot shorter than I was expecting. All of the stories were well written though, some were very enjoyable / entertaining and some were a little bit odd / weird.
For the most part I enjoyed reading these little short stories as was the perfect filler for in between more series intense books I’d been reading.
This is a pleasant if forgettable collection of short stories. They are short, a quick and easy read featuring chick issues, romance, betrayal, etc. Not bad but one toned.
To Tell a Tale or Two: A collection of short stories by Kelly Florentia is an excellent choice for those who like a quick read. Each tale is interesting and has a thought-provoking twist. Well worth a read!
Stories seemed interesting and were certainly written that way, but I just wasn’t getting it. When I reached the end of a too-short story, I’d be like: “What, I don’t get it.”
A lovely collection of contemporary romance stories. I like short stories, I call them tea break reads. Each story was told well and some had unexpected endings to surprise the reader.
