In this sequel to Tig Ripley: Rock 'n' Roll Rebel, things are looking up for the girls of Pandora's Box. Following their successful appearance in the University of Alabama student TV commercial, Tig and the other members of Pandora's Box are eager to be taken seriously as a rock band. But the high drama of middle-school life rears its head. First, the girls finally tire of Kyra's lack of commitment and refusal to improve her bass skills. Tig can only defend her cousin just so much. Then to add to the Kyra problem, Robbie wants to bring in a new member to the band. This new girl really sets Tig's teeth on edge. Is Tig losing her bestie status with Robbie? And now, topping everything off, Tig can't stop thinking about Will Mason. Seeing him together with bandmate Olivia is agonizing. Tig is trying to do her best as leader but will all these struggles pull Pandora's Box apart just when it looks like musical success is around the corner?
Fresh off their success as part of a University of Alabama commercial pitch, the members of Pandora's Box are ready for more gigs. But Tig Ripley, the band's founder, must contend with some hard issues and make some tough decisions. As much as Tig loves her cousin Kyra, it has become increasingly clear that Kyra isn't willing to put in the work needed to become a better musician. How can Tig cut her loose without hurting her feelings. Tig also feels jealous over the friendship between Paris and Robbie when Robbie wants to bring the new girl into the band. As alliances shift, new (unexpected) allies appear on the horizon and Tig's feelings for Will Mason, Olivia's boyfriend, become even stronger, Tig isn't sure if she has what it takes to keep the band afloat. As in the previous title, the girls work hard on their music and gain confidence after all that practice. I appreciated how the author provided some redemption for one of the characters from the previous book, demonstrating that there's more to a bully or a popular girl than meets the eye. It was fun to watch all of the characters develop and to see that Kyra might not be a dedicated musician, but she also has skills of a different sort that can help the band.
In the sequel to Tig Ripley Rock N Roll Rebel, Pandora's Box is a huge success. This is a pretty quick read, but I really enjoyed it. Tig Ripley and Pandora's Box are back, and they are getting a lot of attention. After their successful commercial, they are starting to feel like a real rock band. But slacking Kyra is causing issues for the band, and Tig isn't sure how much longer the band, and herself, can take it. Along with that issue, Tig is having a hard time seeing Olivia with Will. Can Rig figure out a way that her band and her life can be a success? One of my favorite characters is probably Robbie because she doesn't let others get to her very easily. She doesn't let the bots or Kyra get in her way. The setting is in the present day, and it's mostly realistic with a little bit of fantasy. I think most readers would enjoy this book like I did, but I think that it is geared more towards 9-14 year olds. All though this is one of my favorite books, I loved the first book a teeny bit more. I found this book very entertaining, and I feel as though others would too. Overall, I loved this book and I think you would enjoy it as much as I did.
