This children's text called , South Africa is a colorful book that includes beautiful photographs and introduces the history, geography, language, schools, social life, and customs of South Africa. The fast facts and glossary makes this an informative and engaging book for elementary students to understand. Students can use this book to learn literacy, not only from reading it, but by comparing South African culture to their own or write a poem/song about the facts they learned about this exciting country. This book can also be introduced during a morning meeting where the students go around the circle and talk about their culture and learn how everyone's culture and ethnicity are different.

RESPONSE
I gave this book 5 stars because it covers a wide range of topics in an efficient and educational manner. This book is a great start for children who want to learn more about foreign cultures. It is sectioned in small, easy to read paragraphs for each category, and covers everything from geography, genealogy, significant historical events, and also looks into the future.
