David Doublet and his wife and also his diving partner and they see a dead sperm whale out in the ocean. This was rare sighted off the reef of in Australia.Ten large tiger sharks were feeding on the whale. And they wanted to get closer so they could get a better photo of the sharks to do so they had to put their gear on and also put gloves on because their hands look like dead fish.mean while they were taking pictures they then realized they were getting closer to the sharks then the sharks mood changed the sharks thought they were a threat as the sharks got closer they had a second layer of protection was their cameras. They changed their position in the water by putting their backs against each other so they can see all of the sharks from every direction for their safety. Therefore they started to move really slow to head for their boat. The sharks no longer took them as a threat because they were at a safe distance and they were on their boat. The temperature in Canada's gulf of st. Lawrence was below freezing Jennifer Hayes had worn a extra pair of clothes and gloves and her goal was to take a photo of a baby harp seal and its mother but it was going to be hard for her because the mother and pup don't stay together the mother leaves the pup to live on its own.Jennifer jumped in the water and not before long she spotted a pup and its mom Jennifer approaches the pup and then it meets its mothers under water. But as she saw them there were 20 male seal below them and then the mom went under water and chased the male that bit her ankle. And after a few minutes the mother seal came up to her pup and inspected it to see if he was okay and he was because Jennifer was watching him and after the mother seal saw he was okay she nudged her like she did to her pup to thank her and the mother left with her pup.
I liked this book liked it because it was interesting and also all of the facts. I would recommend this book to people that like seal, sharks, and also coral reef and also under water cave diving.
This book is about people that go diving in the water to explore the unknown wonders of the blue sea. The first person this books talks about is someone that goes diving with sharks and his adventure starts with him in the shark cage, but then he goes out of the shark cage because he wanted a clearer shot because he said that the bars were in the way, so when stepped out the the cage and got his shots, and out of the corner of his eye he saw a great white shark, so then he is thinking that he should get back in the cage, but when he turns around, the cage wasn't there. And the seconds persons story was about a lady that did deep diving in the water, but where she went diving the water was freezing cold and the clarity of the water was very murky and that made it hard to see, anyways her job was to go dive in and go replace the old tags that were on the corals and replace them with new ones so they can get better data on how the corals live in such crazy conditions And the third persons story was about a diver that goes and explores underwater caves, and he collects the stuff he finds and brings it back to the lab so they can find out what it is and how old it is, and in his adventure he finds some very cool and shocking stuff in the cave that he explored, and when he brought it back to the lab they found out some needed information. To learn more you will have to read the book yourself.
My opinion on this book is that I liked a lot because I love sea creatures and I have always thought that it would be cool to be able to dive into the blue wilderness, because people who have dived before say that they cant explain what its like out there, you have to dive for yourself if you want the full and true experience. I also liked this book because it tells you what to do and how to do their jobs in a way, and the book tells you why each of their jobs are important and how they can help society.

This book was about the adventures of three scientists out in the field working with underwater animals dead and alive. They also worked with different underwater places. These three people were David Doubilet and Jennifer Hayes, Rhian Walker, and Kenny Broad each with their own respectful crew. David Doubilet and Jennifer Hayes studied with live underwater animals such as sharks and seals. Rhian Walker studied Coral and finally Kenny Broad studied blue holes.
Issues These divers while on their dive each had their own problems either with their environment or with themselves or someone in their crew. David and Jennifer got stuck in the middle of tiger and great white sharks lunch. Rhian had problems with current and lost one of their crew. Last but not least Kenny found himself in between two questions about the history of certain reptiles and an Indian tribe from South America. In all of these adventures you can learn a lot about the ocean and the creatures inside it.

I think this book is really good. The book is about how this couple they always go diving they go diving with sharks and many more animals but this book is really about how they dive with sharks. They mostly always go together but one trip to see another animal the wife only went. And she could have almost died. But this time they went diving with sharks and they were recording and taking pictures of different types of sharks, and how interesting they were.
I personally like the book. It was really interesting to see how many different types of sharks there are. So I recommend reading this book, if you want to learn about sharks and other animals.

I like this book and like to learn new things and how they put in a little bit of adventure. I also liked the differnt stories and how there wasn't just one.
I would to kids who like the National Geographic Children series and like to learn new things or adventure.
National Geographic offers this engaging series of "Chapters" for suitable for Grades 2-5 and reluctant readers. This volume presents three separate stories featuring different types of divers/photographers: David Doubilet & Jennifer Hayes, Rhian Waller and Kenny Broad. It's a good introduction for students interested in careers studying oceanography and animal life. The variety of exploration here was a plus and there are pronunciation helps for words young readers might be just learning/unfamiliar with. I would have liked more photos throughout the story.
DON-DON. DON-DON. YIKES!!! A SHARK!!! Come dive into this book to learn about different sharks and many more EXTREME underwater adventures! Join David Doublet as he swims with sharks. Join Rehian as she plunges into ice-cold waters. Also join Kenny as he searches through underwater caves.
I really loved the book. My favorite part was when Kenny dove into one of the blue holes. I loved learning about the different people in the book doing different things.
This book informs about how sharks are incredible predators. It gives important story’s of shark attack survivors. These story’s caused the plot to thicken and proved just how dangerous sharks are.
I would recommend this book to a person who likes adrenaline because it can be quite scary at some times. I like this book because I was intrigued the entire time. This book is very serious but sometimes you wonder what these people even thought would happen.
I loved this book because it is all about sharks and ocean life. There are three main chapters with 2-3 little chapters in them but each big chapter is about a different person and what they do and the risk they make under water. This is about sharks, coral, and Seals. It has information about peoples lives too and what they do and the risk they take like this one person goes into the very, very cold ocean to check on the coral many hundreds of feet below sea level and only has a certain amount to do so. A different person gets hurt by a male seal. A different person is almost eaten by a shark and another person is finding many flosses but may get sick by the thing in the ocean.
I loved this book and would recommend this and would read it again. This book is one of my favorites and i would read this to siblings and friends.

National Geographic has created this chapters series that I have found absolutely fabulous. Not only are they beautifully designed but wonderfully written. And the stories in this particular volume are fascinating and compelling. There are three stories included in this volume: several experiences of underwater photographer David Doubilet and his wife and partner, Jennifer Hayes; Rhian Walker's adventure diving down to study cold water coral, and Kenny Broad's adventures underwater cave diving to study blue holes. Each section contains three chapters with each chapter highlighting an experience by one of the highlighted individuals. Each of these stories shows the dedication that each of these individuals shows to his/her chosen profession and the risks that they face along the way. Sharks, darkness, rock avalanches underwater are all events shared in this book. Students interested in animals or the scientists who study them are bound to find this book fascinating. And the shortness of the book makes it a great choice for reluctant readers.
