Do you want to let you kids know that they are more jobs than just the ones we hear about every day? Instead of just telling them about being a nurse, teacher, farmer, banker, construction worker, police officer, pastor, or gardener...there is so much more that they can do. From the wacky job of a Professional Pusher (seriously!) to an Adventure Guide, Recipe Tester, Publicist, or Crossword Puzzle Writer, you child can find something to dream about and achieve.

I even have a teenager who has no idea what he wants to do and this book gave him some ideas. Each job title offers a brief description of what the job entails. Like the Professional Pusher is someone in Japan who works for the transit system and "pushes" people onto the crowded trains during rush hour to make sure limbs and clothing aren't stuck in the doors. For real! There are photos to go along with every job too. Did you know you can be a professional Mermaid? I actually know someone whose niece is one! There is a page devoted to being a mermaid that puts on shows. There is a page devoted to being an Orchestra Musician (hint, hint to my kids!) and if you don't mind standing in line you could be a Professional Line Waiter!

This small book is a fun way to start a conversation with your kids about the various opportunities that await them in their future. The world is theirs to grasp and they can be whatever they want to be!

There are so many things you can be when you grow up. But did you know some of the weirdest careers could be the most fun? If you lived in Japan you might want to be a Professional Pusher. Their job is to push you into the train or subway if you get caught in the doors. You could be a party planner, professional groomer or radio show host. If you wanted to be a Perfumer you would have to have a great sense of smell. If you wanted to make shoes just for horses you would be called a Farrier. If you wanted to become a cranberry farmer you might have to get your feet wet.

This informational guide to readers has some very cool, weird and even scary jobs inside. Detail descriptions and fun facts along with real life photos will give insight on what it would take to be in that particular job. The back pages are host to a career list and even more resources. Parents and teachers may view this and get ideas for a change of career themselves.

What an utterly delightful book! I loved the way that the author presented each of the 100 careers in this book. With National Geographic's typical gorgeous photographs and bright, fun, appealing design, each of 100 different careers are presented. The book is not intended to offer detailed descriptions, but merely a brief introduction to the possibilities that exist. Including brief suggestions for ways to explore one's interests (called Inspiration Station), the book focuses on primarily unusual careers such as astronaut, party planner, tree house builder, professional line waiter, and snake milker. This book is bound to be enjoyed by young readers who are curious about the world around them and what the possibilities are for their future. I especially enjoyed the brief interviews with people who currently work in some of the jobs presented. It's especially interesting to see what led these folks to the careers they work in.

This is a delightfully colorful book just brimming with attention grabbing graphics that will intrigue, interest, and entice young minds and hearts about what people do when they grow up and what they, too, can become. The amount of information on each is great and not above the intended targeted age of reading audience. While the attitude presented about each job is positive and sounds interesting, I like that a serious tone is also achieved as needed.

Photography is, as it always is in a National Geographic publication, amazing. The nuggets of factual information about the wonderful opportunities that await upcoming generations of adults is great.

My son and I love reading these books by National Geographic Kids. I want him to know there are many occupations out there in the world that he can choose from. He's only seven, he has plenty of time to make a choice, but I still want him to explore his options.

The three new ones in this book (and out of) were: A Foley Artist (they make sound effects for movies), graphic artist, and.....best son in the world. Aaaaaa! How cute is that?!?!

There are some fun careers out there for kids to think about pursuing when they grow up. This book explores different types of jobs, including a job as an ice cream taster or a wacky job as a golf ball diver. This helps kids discover new and exciting careers for their future.

"100 Things To Be When You Grow Up" by Lisa M. Gerry is a book about good jobs for when you grow up. There are many jobs in this book that spans many different interests. One example is a Marine Biologist. Another example is a photographer. With so many job options this is a very good book to find a very good job.

This book is FANTASTIC. I could not stop reading it and both my boys thought is was super cool too! Did you know that being a social worker is the 44th job listed in this book? That is one of my jobs, so cool right!? In this book you will read about 100 things to be when you grow up. All the jobs sound interesting and fun! This book has all the things that I love about National Geographic...the amazing photos, great tidbits and facts, as well as the well written table of content and index. This book will make you want to explore all the wonderful, wacky and interesting jobs out in the world!
