Thaha Madayi (Malayalam: താഹ മാടായി) is a freelance journalist/writer and biographer from Kerala, India, writing in Malayalam language. He began contributing to Ballapankthi of Mathrubhumi weekly and has gone on to author many articles on significant topics, which appeared in leading malayalam journals. He was instrumental in making visible Dalits and other marginalized groups through the literary genre of life-writing and has also published his interviews with many celebrities. He has made six documentary films and short films. He has presented cultural programs both on Radio and TV. He wrote the biographies of Kallen Pokkudan, Fabi Basheer, Gemini Shankaran, Mamukkoya, Punathil Kunjabdulla, Eranjoli Moosa, A Ayyappan and Captain Krishnan Nair.

He has written pieces for Malayalam weekly like Mathrubhumi and Madhyamam.

His interview with M.N. Vijayan was discussed in Kerala Cultural-Political scenario in a wider range. Thaha Madayi created a new branch in Malayalam literature called 'Jeevithamezhuth'(Life sketch). The work of Thaha Madayi was included into The Oxford India Anthology of Malayalam Dalit Writing published by Oxford University Press.

This is not just another celebrity biography. This is one of the best biographies I have read about a film actor. This is a book about culture, literature, cinema, and Calicut (One of the most amazing places I have seen in my life).

You can see Basheer, S.K. Pottekkatt, Sukumar Azhikode, John Abraham, and many other extraordinary individuals in it. If you are a person who loves literature or cinema, this is a book you should never miss.

വൈക്കം മുഹമ്മദ് ബഷീർ വഴിയാണ്  മാമുക്കോയ സിനിമയിലേക്ക് ചേക്കേറുന്നത്. ബഷീർ മായുള്ള ബന്ധം എം ടി, ഇഎംഎസ്, എസ് കെ പൊറ്റക്കാട് തുടങ്ങി നിരവധി ആളുകളുമായി ബന്ധപ്പെടാൻ സാധിച്ചു. ഉറൂബ്, സുകുമാർ അഴീക്കോട്,തിക്കോടിയൻ, ബഹദൂർ, കുതിരവട്ടം പപ്പു  തുടങ്ങി നിരവധി പ്രമുഖ വ്യക്തികളോട് മാമുക്കോയ സൗഹൃദം സ്ഥാപിച്ചിരുന്നു.

നാടക അഭിനയത്തിലും മാമുക്കോയയുടെ സാന്നിധ്യം ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നു. അദ്ദേഹത്തിന്റെ അഭിപ്രായത്തിൽ നാടകത്തിൽ ഒരു നടൻ സ്വയം പറയുമ്പോഴാണ് അഭിനയം ഒക്കെ ആവുന്നത്. എന്നാൽ സിനിമയിൽ ഒക്കെ പറയുന്നത് ഡയറക്ടറാണ്.

അടൂർഭാസിയെക്കാൾ ബഹദൂർക്കയുടെ വ്യക്തിത്വമാണ് മാമുക്കോയയെ കൂടുതൽ ആകർഷിച്ചത്. പുതിയ കാലഘട്ടത്തിൽ ജഗതി ശ്രീകുമാറും.

കോഴിക്കോട് കല്ലായിയിൽ മരമില്ലിൽ മരം അളക്കുന്ന പണിയിൽ കോയ കുറേക്കാലം ഏർപ്പെട്ടിരുന്നു. അതുകൊണ്ടുതന്നെ തടിയുടെ ഗുണനിലവാരം  വേഗത്തിൽ അളക്കാൻ അയാൾക്ക് സാധിച്ചിരുന്നു.

കോഴിക്കോടിനും മുസ്ലിം സമുദായത്തിനും പ്രാധാന്യം നൽകികൊണ്ടാണ് ഈ ജീവിതകഥ രചിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നത്. നായക നടനായ മമ്മൂട്ടിയും ഹാസ്യ നടനായ മാമുക്കോയയും മതത്തിന്റെ പേരിൽ ചില്ലറ പ്രശ്നങ്ങൾ അവരുടെ ജീവിതത്തിൽ അനുഭവിച്ചിട്ടുണ്ട്.

നാടോടിക്കാറ്റിലെ ഗഫൂർ കാ ദോസ്ത് എന്ന കഥാപാത്രം അത്രപെട്ടെന്നൊന്നും ആർക്കും മറക്കാൻ സാധിക്കില്ല.

മാമുക്കോയയുടെ സ്വതസിദ്ധമായ കോഴിക്കോടൻ സംസാരശൈലി സിനിമകളിലൂടെയും അല്ലാതെയും കേട്ടിട്ടുള്ള ആർക്കും ഈ ഓർമ്മക്കുറിപ്പുകൾ ഇഷ്ടപ്പെടുമെന്നത് തീർച്ചയാണ്. അദ്ദേഹത്തിന്റെ ചെറുപ്പകാലത്തെ ഓർമ്മകളും സിനിമയിൽ ഉൾപ്പടെ ജീവിതത്തിലെ പലഘട്ടങ്ങളിലും ഇടപഴകിയിട്ടുള്ള പ്രമുഖരും സാധാരണക്കാരുമായ അനേകം മനുഷ്യരെപ്പറ്റിയും ഓർമ്മകൾ പങ്കുവെയ്ക്കുന്നുണ്ട്. എനിക്കതിൽ ഏറ്റവും ഇഷ്ടപ്പെട്ടത് വൈക്കം മുഹമ്മദ് ബഷീറിനെപ്പറ്റി പങ്കുവെച്ചിട്ടുള്ളവയാണ്. ഒറ്റയടിക്ക് തന്നെ വായിച്ചുതീർക്കാവുന്ന തരത്തിൽ ലളിതഭാഷ ഉപയോഗിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നതിനാൽ വായനക്കാരന് ഒട്ടും വിരസത അനുഭവപ്പെടാതെ ആസ്വദിക്കാനാകുന്നു.

നായകൻ അല്ലാത്ത മനുഷ്യന്റെ തീരെ അഹങ്കാരം ഇല്ലാത്ത ജീവിതം. വളരെ ഉയര്‍ന്ന ചിന്താഗതിയും ജീവിത ശൈലിയും ഉള്ളവരോട് കൂടി ജീവിച്ചു കൊണ്ട്‌ അദ്ദേഹം തന്റെ ജീവിതവും കെട്ടിപ്പടുത്ത കഥ. "മുല്ലപ്പൂംപൊടിയേറ്റു കിടക്കൂം കല്ലിനുമുണ്ടാം സൗരഭ്യം" എന്ന് പറയാറുള്ളത് പോലെ. എങ്കിലും അദ്ദേഹം കല്ലല്ല, ഖൽബുള്ള ആളാണെന്ന് വായിക്കുമ്പോൾ നമ്മൾ തിരിച്ചറിയും.
