"I'm ready for the lights to dim and the rest of the world to fade away."
Rock the City by Author Gia Riley is book two in the Midnight Fate series but can be read as a standalone. It is a rocker romance novel.
“You don’t have to sell it to me, Lane. I’m a sure thing.”
Noelle is the BFF that we all fell in love with in Rock the Boat, the first book in this series. She always comes to the rescue for those she loves; she just needs someone to rescue her back and Lane may just be the man for the job. He is the swoon-worthy drummer for the rock band Midnight Fate, and hopes he has found his forever in Noelle.
“Maybe it’s time to stop questioning why you’re in my arms and focus on how good it feels to be there.”
I was so excited to enter back into this rocker world. Told in dual points of view, Rock the City was simply an incredible escape that touched my heart and funny bone, leaving me with a never-ending smile on my face and song in my heart. I continually grabbed hold of words and phrases that caused me to have a ceaseless fall, like Alice down the rabbit hole. Noelle was a character that might have fooled me initially. For all of her colorful use of words and occasional sass, she was actually an old soul that sought to nurture and care for those she loved. But, she had the strength of the rays of the sun. When Lane came into her life, her personality fused with his to color the world with their love. Sometimes in romance, one is given angst with continual fault-finding and pessimistic language. One of the beauties of this story was the symbiotic relationship that Lane and Noelle had. They were a strength to each other in situations which they could have detracted from the other.
“Lane rescued me when I thought I wasn’t worthy of love. When I was positive I’d go on being invisible, he told me differently. He showed me I was enough for him.”
There were so many delicate subjects that Author Gia Riley touched on in this book. But each was done with a gentle caress of a mother's touch, allowing character qualities to be highlighted, and light to overcome the darkness.
“…what I did see, I never wanted to lose. What I haven’t seen, I can’t wait to experience.”
Rock the City had everything, laughter, tears, highs, lows, endearing and unforgettable characters, and a happily ever after. It doesn't get any better than this.
“When you need me, I’ll be in your heart, and I’ll meet you every night in your dreams.”
