Stephen walked into the office which Barnabas was using as his judge's chamber. While the massive amount of data Bethany Anne’s team was throwing at him was more than enough to assuage his curiosity, he had never felt this way in the last one hundred and fifty-two years.
He wanted a vacation.
He pulled the top manila-folder and took a look at the name, “Clarissa Bernier, CEO.” He opened the folder, and it was now in the agreed upon fashion. There was one page with her typical information of name, age, location, and a two paragraph background and the requested punishment. It was a type of joke now between Barnabas and Bethany Anne. No matter the requested punishment, she would strike it out and write “DEATH” and put a happy face on, with fangs.
It let him know that she was not letting up on her desire to make a lot of people pay for Michael’s death.
The team had already executed six individuals across the world in the last three months. Sean Truitt was just the first one.
Stephen interrupted him, “You look tired,” he spoke as he took a seat in one of the two blue chairs facing Barnabas’s desk.
Barnabas leaned back, keeping the folder open, “Is she serious?” He pointed to the document, “Even ADAM, using our agreed punishment matrix is calling for this lady to be punished financially.” He closed the folder, “She walks the line towards Michael all the time, brother...”
To be continued ...
**Please note, as mentioned in a review, there is flagrantly foul language in these novels. The main character does not have a problem with cussing, just uninspired cussing.

I'm ripping through this series like a bag of Skittles! I can not stop reading. It's just so good. Fresh and juicy with the percect amount of zing! lol
OMG! I got such a kick out of the Chinese submarine being literally fished out of the sea like a fish and then dumped on land with no one hurt but their prides. The Americans invited to watch with the Russians actually produced popcorn to enjoy the show. America supplied the popcorn and the Russians supplied the drinks.
Yet another intriguing and exciting episode. I guess what gives this series the thrill of the ride which is truly addictive is that it does what no one else is brave enough to actually do. Think about your own country and who is making bad decisions in your opinion. Then think about what you would like to see happen to even the playing field. Then put the idea in motion. Always thinking about the human race as a whole and not individuals or nation's. Remember we are the same regardless of where we live.
Nations and religion forms extremes. What if everyone everywhere worked together for the common good. Worked to further the human race and make a better world. Rather than arguing, stealing and trying to out do each other. Where everyone could walk with their heads held high being proud of the differences and not fear due to the reaction of others.
For that reason alone is the reason I am so Damn addicted to this series. BA is the living realism that we can work together and achieve greatness. Before you start recommending me for psychiatric evaluation I am fully aware this is a fictional piece of work. But let me ask you.... What if it wasn't? Enjoy!
Release The Dogs Of War is the tenth book in The Kurtherian Gambit series by Michael Anderle.
I feel like so much more should have happened in this book, to combat all of the harsh feelings from the previous’ bomb drop at the end. It did not fulfill this metric. While many/almost all at fault for the devastation that would have rocked their Colorado base, their movement. This book was too much like a filler episode, creating more unnecessary build-up or anticipation. I think I say for everyone that after book nine we needed, not more anticipation, but a reason to not quit. That was only accomplished in the author’s second afterword, not the plot presented here.
Everything that is happening with Stephanie Lee is going to create a giant annoyance. I want her removed quickly, exorcised from the plot like the cancer she is. But becoming inhabited by The Seven leads me to believe she’ll be cocking up Bethany Anne’s plans for a while yet. And then there’s the fact that this woman’s home base is a highly respected clan in China. China which has great hostility towards The Queen’s TQB, primarily for their own stupidity and incompetence being shoved back in their faces. So I think China will step into the wrong side of this war, and hopefully come to regret it soon.
I wonder what truly happened with the President of the United States. Whether she changed his memories to lead George, and Joshua on until his sentence was carried out. Or she had him in on the plan, thus knowing George’s deceit? Maybe this next book will enlighten us?
I think Anderle needs to step back from all of the ‘women are illogical’ remarks, it’s getting to be annoying at this point. Necessity does not require you to say it in every book. Thanks.
How does Michael (the author) keep track of so many intertwined threads? I don’t know but it all works out. I occasionally eat a little lost but he seems to pull enough into the section where I’m slightly confused to clarify it for me. On to book #11!
Yeah this one sucked. I’m even rounding down because at most it got a 2.4, probably closer to a 2.1. It wouldn’t have gotten above a 2, except that at least it’s a quick easy read.
This wasn’t a great episode to the series. It dragged a lot, the focus seemed to be all over the place. I happened to read the author’s notes at the end saying he had a had time combining the various story arcs into a cohesive whole. It shows.
The concept of the Rangers isn’t bad, but it does seem almost as a stolen concept from the old Babylon 5 TV series, they had the same name and in many ways even the same job.
Cute telling the other side of things to the Bitches Night Out short story, but it wasn’t needed. That story should have be included here and then tightened up the writing with last one or two books to make one single book out of all.
The entire sexscapade and wanting to get the Boys dating was pointless as well. I don’t mind people dating, or having sex, but constant talking about making it happen doesn’t help the story move forward. All it ends up doing is pulling the focus away from the main plot, as it wasn’t just used as a quick humorous aside, as it should have been.
I didn’t like the back and forth throughout the Stephanie Lee story. Maybe it was to show that it occurred over a period of time, but instead it just seemed like a weird way to share it. I would have preferred a couple chapters just on that and then go back to TQB and it’s work.
So if she’s going to be part of one of the Five, that were against TOM’s Kutherians, then does that mean that these are also the basis for the Weschelbag Weres? She’s going with a Leopard, but as we know they are also Wolf and Bear versions, so likely this group is the start of the werewolf line. Just seems a bit cheesy.
There is also times when the President and the General he spoke with talked of possible alien tech that they know of, but have not been able to get it working, unlike TQB has done. As Marcus explained in the first book, it makes sense that the easiest place to look for aliens, is right there on Earth. So if that’s the case, and we know of TOM’s group, and at least one if not two from the Five, then why not more. Even a crashed emergency pod would be an amazing find to past humans, and hopefully someday they’d get it working.
Also in the author’s notes he mentions that there is a Dark Ages series about Michael coming back to a post apocalyptic Earth, trying to get into space to find Bethany Anne. Wow that’s a lot to unpack. I think the worst part is he already is telling us that the Earth culture is doomed to collapse. I don’t think that would be likely with Bethany Anne or her group. They would never completely give up on humans, as they are themselves human. Yes, BA said she would let us live as we want and wouldn’t rule us, but I don’t think her sense of justice would allow for the entire world to collapse either. That would destroy too many innocents, not something she would allow with her sense of justice.
Hopefully the next few books will be better. This one sure wasn’t one of the better stories in the series.
One book I thought. Yeah it's just one book I like the cover like synopsis. Admittedly not my normal type of book but it's just one book. That was my thought on seeing death becomes her ad. And now I'm 10 books and one short story in and Gott Verdammt I can't stop reading. Ok I sometimes don't get the maths/scientific stuff and I blur over those couple of lines but other than that I'm obsessed. Also so impressed with how michael anderle is such a nice guy not only does he does his best to help and promote upcoming authors he donates appetites to military personnel. So keep reading peeps it's an edge of your seat earth to intergalactic rollercoaster ride and I don't want it to stop xxx
I'm not quite as thrilled with this series any more. I enjoy watching people test Bethany Anne, much to their own regret. But we've got more characters now, so not as much BA butt-Kicking. They're interesting people, with interesting stories, and I love the SFnal progression, but overall I'm just not enjoying it quite as much.
I'm not ready to quit, just not looking forward to the next one as much.
And I'm disappointed to find out from the Author's afterword
I like this series but this one was odd. Too much not quite right girl banter about guys and not enough plot advancement. Could be tightened up A LOT. And perhaps the girl talk should be run by a woman to straighten it out.
That being said, I'll treat it as a fluke and hope the next one hits its stride better (so I havent given up yet!)
I wish that I had started reading this series a little later in the year, when the weather is bad and I won't feel guilty for ignoring any major chores in the yard or garage. This series "The Kutherian Gambit" is totally addicting. Just like popcorn. I usually read on a Kindle Paperwhite (highly recommended if you don't have one...Xmas is coming hint hint). I can take it anywhere and I usually do. I find myself reading in the line at the grocery store, the carwash, or in the restaurant when I am waiting for my breakfast, etc. Kudos to Kindle Unlimited!
I just finished book #9 last night and am already far into #10.
This series has captivated me since the very first book. This is a new twist on the old vampire/blood-sucking/hypnotic gaze stuff. The characters are very real, and as snarky as can be! Violence, blood and gore is all through the books, but it is a necessary element of the story line. Sex in the books is more-or-less implied rather than explicit, and is done in such a manner that you can let your imagination fill in the blanks. But again, it is a necessary element.
Spoiler alert!!! The concept that aliens are responsible for creating the whole vampire, werewolf, nosferatu world is a refreshing change from the normal romantic vampire drivel. Book #9 "Release the Dogs of War" goes more into the intrigue of back-stabbing politics and powerful people who think they are the ones who should rule the world. Bethany Ann is proving that their wants are not on her "wish list" when it comes to how the world ought to be. The advanced technology fits well with standard sci-fi ideals. The magical/mystical abilities of the Nacht and the way these abilities are displayed, do not require a suspension of reality or assumption of blind faith.
The dialog, the characters, and circumstances are all well-integrated into the "whole" thread of the story line. This series has been out for about 2 years now, and continues to grow. This is great because it allows the avid reader (me) to jump right into the next book. Well worth the time to read and to enjoy the entertainment value. I call it "junk food for the brain."
I had been seeing a lot of advertising for this series running through my Facebook page, so since it is on KU, I picked up book 1 on October 9 - I read it through and decided to ruminate on my feelings about the book for a few days. I did not last a few days, I picked up book 2 that evening and now here I am finished with book 10 and already into book 11 (that's right, even though I work 12 hour days, I have read 10 of these in 22 days - typically I read in bed so about 1 - 2 hours a night is normal. With this series, I have found myself staying up some nights until 2 or 3 and work starts at 7, so you see my dilemma. Sorry to ramble, but this series is holding my attention like nothing since I read the ENTIRE Robert Jordan Wheel of Time series in a row.
I absolutely love this book and this series, my plan is to read them all (21 right now in the main series) in order until I am finished and then to read the side stories.
Michael Anderle has built a unique world in which the paranormal we know is actually outer space alien technology and boy, does this turn the genre on its head.
The main character is Bethany Anne - she has a unique sense of right and wrong and you dont want to be in the wrong side of the ledger.
I suggest starting with book 1 and deciding for yourself, but with over 1300 reviews (book 1 alone), you can see how popular this series is with the target audience.
So when a book like "It's Hell To Choose" explores the idea of a young love being cut short, "Release The Dogs of War" explores the idea of revenge being served at a fancy restaurant and enjoying every course of the meal. Simultaneously, you have to fight off people wanting a piece of what Bethany Anne and her boys have created (yes I didn't say bitches, and I don't care who has a problem with it). But to borrow a phrase from Kevin Costner and his role on Yellowstone "This is TQB Enterprises, we don't share our toys with others."
I'm not going to spoil anything about this book, but it does very well at building up the plot of "Sued For Peace". To the point where I think we'll see an epic battle that might be the equivalents of Superman fighting with General Zod, Batman fighting with Joker, or Wonder Woman fighting with Cheetah.
A good read. She is still coming to terms with the loss of Michael plus South America is in a state of unrest. Can she do anything to even the odds? Plus the search is on for everyone associated with the attacks that lead to the loss of Michael. The world business powers aren't happy with her and try to force themselves onto her ships. Lessons in humility need to be given but one person eludes her. The person that might, unbeknownst to her, be her hardest opponent to overcome. Then there are the Queen's Girls and their plans for the Guards and Guardians. A pin up calendar or more. Whilst in space her ship is shortly to be completed. What will she do with it? A great read tying up some loose ends in a action packed read but I'm just surprised that neither she nor TOM have given any though to the Seven. After all if he is here why not one of them?
This book had a lot more of the behind the scenes evil people in it, intrigue, space stuff!, aliens (other than TOM), and justice for some of those lost in the prior book.
Also, I liked that Michael noted in the story: “There’s an anti-radiation powder invented by Tomihisa Ohta for the Fukushima disaster.” For those that might not know, this is real from 2011. So nice to see scientists invent ways to fix some of the dire problems created by nuclear radiation!
I also liked the idea of giving away Kindle paper whites to deployed military by raising money. Here is the link from the book, so any who don’t read the book and are still interested can read about it and sign up if they want.
Everything is between these two covers that make a book worth reading. Seriously good plots that will keep you nose down and reading, and if you're like me it's cover to cover without stop. The characters are incredibly fun and beautifully written, and this series gifts us with so many stories that we have time to get to know them. And care about what happens to them, whether they're in danger or looking for love. There is something these books don't have, at least not yet, and that's the usual naughty love scenes. But you know what? I didn't even realize that until just now! There's been no scene where it's needed and I haven't missed it. I hope you enjoy this series as much as I do. ✋🐺
Beth does like revenge! Good thing she has a conscience and others around her to keep her stable. (?) It appears that she is still looking to do the right things by building a ship that will serve to fight any and all aliens who wish to harm the earth. One thing I'm not sure of, and maybe will be cleared up, is why Beth doesn't just tell the U.S. President what is going on and how she plans on dealing with the aliens when they come? So onward to the next book. And I'm kind of glad our author has mentioned something about Michael. I was hating the fact that we had lost such a good character.
Oh boy! Bethany Anne has geared up a step, in her search for those who had caused the death of Michael.
Her group of trusted friends are also doing all they can to bring her dream of a base in outer space, into become a reality.
In the meantime, groups all around the world are doing their best to bring TQB down - not with much success, so far!
This story is intricate, and convoluted, in it's many plans that are slowly coming together, and it's going to be quite a showdown if, or when, that happens.
I'm finding it harder and harder to put these books down now, and reach eagerly for the next one when I finish each one.
You know it kinda sickens me too think of the greed in this world. How the elites and politicians have so much and take so much more. As this story progresses I can truly see things like this happening. The expectations of being entitled by some to take what they want whether they earned or deserve it just because they can or think they can. This is the world we live in and sadly the world just gets sicker. I guess u know besides vamps, weres n aliens this isn't such far fetched as you might wish at the core.
Michael is missing, presumed dead, after the terrorists detonated a dirty, nuclear device at QBE’s Colorado HQ. Bethany Anne isn’t just mad, she is devastated and out for blood. She now has a kill list, that keeps getting longer, as she investigates the people behind the attack. The cursing isn’t as much of a problem, compared with her deadly swords, her team of loyal soldiers, many not even human and the new weapons her team keeps coming up with. The world is going to the dogs, Bethany Anne has declared war on the scum that attacked her and hers.
They are getting closer to an established space base with self supporting capabilities and ship building facilities. I can't believe this series has moved so fast! The characters are still just as likely as they were at first and I think that that is what I like the best about this series. So far even the politicians seem like what a good person could be without all the factional bullshit. The time when any of that really matters could be closer than we think.
Michael Anderle is living large vicariously through Bethany Anne's character. Delightful antics and glee are presented by her crew. This book is more about the toys than most. By toys I mean the cars, ships, guns and propulsion of things in general. If there's any book that shows the author's joy of writing, it's this one. The endnotes are fun to read as well.
This again is a step up from his previous book with more twists and turns than a maze. As the shadows are brought into the light it seems there is even more hidden depths than they first thought and BAs enemies may be bigger and harder than first thought. Totally loved some of the light hearted bits and the emotional catch conversations just bring it out to the fore. Away for next book now
Alright I am starting to feel vindicated a little for Michael. She has almost found and taken care of all responsible. I am on pins and needles anticipating what is going to happen when Bethany Ann finds the last remaining responsible for Michael. I expect that battle to be EPIC! Especially due to all the details we are finding out about this person. Here we go...
And the the feces impacted the rotational ventilation device
More chills, thrills, and spills as our lovable group of miscreants takes on the illuminati, the Chinese, and an empress created by the ancient alien bad guys. Another great installment by Anderle in our BA universe. I can barely wait until I can dive into the next book! Very highly recommend this series and this book.
We are starting to get past the earth arc and I CANNOT be more excited. It really feels like we are preparing for the future, and it seems so magical. The jump in tech ability can be a little bit sudden, especially if you are blasting through these books. It feels like maybe a “year” of in universe time has passed, but I think we are on 3-4 years actually? Still, it’s an amazing ride. Onto the next one!
The entrenched clandestine human groups are finding out the hard way they can't mess with the QB! Used to complete control over the market and using force over to coerce their enemies, they fall off a cliff. And worse, they don't know how it happened! Meanwhile the QB spaceship is being built and a new possible equal enemy is arising in an ancient mountain. Fun!
So in all honesty, I gave the last book only three stars because of Michael being killed, and I considered not continuing with this series because I wasn't looking forward to the sadness this next book could possibly bring. But, I have continued on, and I was very happy this book wasn't overwhelmingly sad; it is still a fantastic series and I will continue on. Thank you ..
This is a fun series, and the introduction of a possible "bad Kurtherian" lent interest, but it felt a bit like filler again. Anderle plans, I suspect, to show us every step in the process of making humanity understand it's in danger from aliens.
Still, I'm enjoying it enough to continue to listen to these as they are released.
