I have my own sorta fairytale. Only thing is that it’s with two people. Thomas Braxton and Alex McNeil. They know I’m not with them completely. They know I have another. Everything else is pointless… useless. From the moment I met Thomas and Alex I’ve thought if only I could blend them together? Thomas’s sexual endeavors. Alex’s sensitivity and passion for life. Then I would have the perfect person. But perfect is overrated. It doesn’t exist. Plus, it’s not at all interesting. And my relationships with Thomas and Alex? Well that’s a story for the ages…
For the past 21 years, I have been a planner and an organizer. I always needed things a specific way and then everything changed for me. I've always had a vivid imagination and thoughts racing through my mind. I realized that life is way too short to let things pass me by, because in the blink of an eye everything could change. So I decided to just live in the moment, taking every chance and opportunity led my way. No second thoughts and just going with the flow.
I decided to put the fictional characters and the conversations going on in my head to paper. I know, it makes me sound crazy, but I wouldn't have it any other way. I've embraced crazy and hectic and last minute because it's led me to making my dreams a reality.
When I'm not writing Happily Ever After's I'm reading about them and living one. I think this world is filled with too much sadness already we don't need to read about it as well. I write because I love it and I've allowed my imagination to run wild and be crazy and free. Just like me. ❤
And no spoilers here. It was poorly written, meaning, I knew there was some twist that's why it was written that way.
I was kind of annoyed by the P.O.V was described. I think it was meant to be engaging but it wasn't. I cringed Every time I've read the word "you" . 50% percent of the words I've read is the word "you".
As for the sex scenes, well yeah they're good enough.
This is the first time I have read a book by Emily McKee. Actually, this is the first book I have read in this type of narrative. It skips around the different character point of views. There are three main characters…..Stella, Thomas and Alex. You are given the point of view of each then you get the view of either Stella and Thomas or Stella and Alex. It was quite refreshing to read it this way.
So, in the beginning Stella and Thomas are together, but they have a certain set of rules to follow. Their relationship is strictly sexual so there is to be no attachments. Thomas goes as far to tell Stella that she needs to find “another” so that she does not chance falling in love with him. Well…..Stella reassures him that is not going to happen. She doesn’t go for that. They have the perfect set up.
Then she meets Alex. This changes things. For everyone involved. Alex is different and he gets under Stella’s skin like no other. This gets complicated and throws Stella for a loop. In the meantime, Thomas has taken notice of Stella’s other “interests”. Well, he did tell her to find another.
I’ve already mentioned that this was a new kind of read for me. I think Ms. McKee did a very fine job with the writing. Even though it skips around it’s not in a confusing manner. Again, having the different points of view made the story more interesting. You are able to get in the minds of each character.
I want to thank Emily McKee for allowing me to read and review her book. I would definitely recommend everyone to give it a try. If you do please always remember to leave a review for the author.
I will admit in the beginning it was a little hard for me to get into the book and I think for one, it was because of the narrative voice and secondly, I didn’t connect that well with Thomas or Stella. However once Alex came along, it seemed to be smooth sailing.
This book jumped from different characters POV and that I liked. To see what everyone was thinking, I hate being in the dark. Thomas and Stella were sleeping together with rules, 1. Never talk about the past or possible future 2. No sleep over 3. Find another.
Thomas was the one who insisted that Stella find another and guess what, she did, and that’s when all the hidden emotions began to bubble over. Stella ended up finding another who was Alex, while waiting for Thomas at a bar, and as the story unfolds they become closer. I liked how Alex approached his relationship with Stella. Obviously he would have loved to sleep with her but he put those desires aside to really get to know who Stella was. I loved that about Alex, his sweet, patient side of him. I loved the date that they had in the garden and how thoughtful he had been with setting everything up. There was a 4 month skip in this book with Stella and Alex, and I would have loved to see how their relationship blossomed within that missing time.
Now by this point Thomas is kicking himself in the ass and he’s very adamant on proving to Stella that he was the only man for her. I was really curious as I got closer to finish up the book, to who Stella was going to choose because she had strong emotions for both of them. Strong different emotions but Thomas to me, seemed very promising in the sense that he started to treat her like a girlfriend and doing little kind gestures that he normally wouldn’t have done before. Alex was always the sweat one hands down, and then Thomas who had been changing his game to suit Stella, oh boy what choices! If only she could have blended the two, but in the end Stella had to choose only one.
The ending, I didn’t see coming. For me personally, I would have preferred it not to be a secret but it was a good read.
Oh wow, what a twist! NEVER saw that coming AT ALL! Other than the twist, the book was okay. I hated the POVs, they were extremely confusing, and I never liked Stella. But wow what a twist.
I've never read a book with similar narration and/or writing style as this one. And to be honest, I'm not really a fan of it. But, it's needed for that epic plot twist.
